Moto G Storage capacity problem - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, im having a bit a issue with my phone since 2 weeks about. I was testing some Roms MM and some LP and about 2 weeks ago i suddenly saw my PC was showing wrong capacity of my phone via usb.
After clean flash any MM rom i had for example 4,5GB space on phone - this shows in phone and in explorer in my PC and in explorer in PC when im in recovery mode via usb with my PC - but after first reboot , i have suddenly 0,5GB less space in explorer on my PC, but phone still shows 4,5gigs.Im pretty sure this situation appears suddenly. I always do clean flash any rom and use 2.8.7.0 TWRP.
Yesterday i use resize option in recovery, stilll nothing helps. And i reinstall my Windows 7 64 to but the same results. I plug to a 2 different computers and they show to less 0,5GB space than it is in phone.
Any ideas what is wrong?

[Q] USB not recognized

Hi All
I just have got a sensation. I cannot connect to my laptop anymore, it worked fine for a few days, but every time I connect it to my laptop, a message pops up saying that USB is not recognized, I have tried on three computers (XP + Win 7) have installed/uninstalled HTC sync with the drivers.
On the phone itself, I don't get a notification showing the options for USB connection (Charge, HTC sync etc), however it charges fine using the USB cable while connected to the PC.
I have reset my phone to factory default, formatted SD card, have tried another USB cable but no luck.
I just do not understand what can be wrong all of a sudden, once it was working fine last night but not today
Can someone please help? I have sent an email to HTC support already with this information. I'll see what they got to say about this.
Wish If i could help but I'm having the same problem since yesterday And I've tried all of the above with no luck!
Device running in stock rom, unlocked & used for 10 days only.
I had that same problem once on my Desire HD, I removed the sd card, re-inserted it and started the phone, was all good from that point on.
It might work for you too.
Any updates on this, guys ?
I had the same problem..
I used another usb kabel that fixed it for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
No solution for me yet!! i've searched up & down but still nothing.. its getting really frustrating.
i might get rid of it all together after all.
USB & Internet pass-through
I had this problem too. I uninstalled HTC Sync and all related HTC programmes from my laptop. Downloaded the latest HTC Sync from HTC site, and installed. After that, it worked again.
My Sensation is rooted.

i have this very same problem.
tried 4 different computers, windows xp, windows 7 x486, windows 7 x64...
tried different cables... different roms... different kernels... dettached sd card... umounted sd... mounted sd... debug mode... default modes upon connection... the problem is definitely in the phone itself...
the computer simply ignores the connection, no sign of it. the phone behaves like it is connected to a charger, not to usb.
can anybody help us?
I am also getting the same problem now!! I was downgrading to GB, then again i went to JB miui. Then i wanted to format my sdcard, formatted it through PC, and i installed new CM9 rom on it. Now, after the CM9 rom is booting, the device is not recognized by windows!!!
EDIT : Removed SDCARD, then powered off, then reinserted SD, and rebooted into recovery. It got mounted from recovery, and installed a new ROM. Now it works flawlessly!!!

Flashing Star A2000 phone
Hello friend, you have to use the software SP_Flash_Tool_v1.1110.00 HEREat your computer to flash this phone... Also you need the USB driversHERE for this phone...
You need the phone ROM software for your Star A2000 HERE After downloading this ROM you have to extract it at your PC.Then you have install the drivers when you plug your phone cable to your pc.After that you have to open this SP Flash Tools and click Scatter Loading and locate the extracted ROM Folder and choose Android_scatter.txt After that remove all the "tix" and leave only Android (system.img)to be checked. After that turn your phone off and when you plug the phone cable to your pc you have to press F9 on the computer when this SP_tools is at your active window on your desktop. If everything is fine you have to see in yellow % moving from 0 to 100 %.If not you are not installed usb drivers or the usb com port is different.Try from another usb plug... If you see 100% and then OK and green cirle the phone is flashed.Power on your phone and leave it maybe 10 min. to loading.Hope you understand my bad English.

Samsung Note 1 - USB not working

Hello!
I have Note 1 N7000, about 2 and a half years old and I'd like to keep using it.
It has it's original OS 4.1.2, factory reset has been performed about 2-3 times.
None of the USB functions work - data transfer, tethering, OTG, nothing. I can only charge the phone (but not with any cable which indicates a bad [worn out] USB port).
The problem came out of nowhere (as it always does) - one day I wanted to transfer files via cable and the phone simply couldn't be recognized by the PC.
Before that I disabled some google's apps (and some others) that I never used so I performed a factory reset just to make sure I didn't disable somenthing required by usb to operate but with no luck.
I ordered a new USB port (the little board with usb) from ebay and installed it today by following instructions from youtube.
The phone can now be charged with any cable (as expected) but all other USB functions still refuse to work (not as expected).
I'm currently out of ideas, what could be the cause?

i would re-flash stock. you should be able to find a guide and files in your devices forum.
you could have some corrupt files, and a factory reset wouldnt fix that.
if stock doesnt fix the problem, you likely would have some additional hardware issue, im not sure what it would be though.
short story: I installed custom ROM (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179332 - the v16) and it still doesn't work.
Long story:
Stock recovery didn't let me to create a backup, nor it allowed me to install ROM from SD card. I couldn't flash via Odin or some other similar tool because my phone's USB doesn't work
I figured out I should try a custom recovery.
Is there any other way to flash a stock ROM (or any other) than installing it from a SD card? I haven't done this before so please, be patient
I found PhilZ Kernel (5.0.3) and CWM recovery (6.something), merged into a single .zip that could be put on a SD card and installed from there. It said it was for XXLT5 (which is my version of 4.1.2) if that matters.
Installed it and now I had that CWM recovery that gave me the ability to create backup and flash from SD card.
I downloaded stock ROM from SamMobile.com, identical to my original one (XXLT5, my country, my operator, TWO mark), put it on SD card, did a full wipe and tried to install it but it said "installation aborted".
Then I downloaded another stock from the same site, also XXLT5 and Croatia but no carrier specified, TRA mark. It was the same size (786 MB) as the previous one if it's of any importance.
That one also refused to install.
Then I searched for a custom ROM until something not too wild shown up, the link is in the beginning of this post.
It installed normally from SD card and it behaves normally too, except for the fact that the USB problem persists.

you cant flash stock firmware through recovery.
take a look at this. it flashes stock firmware from on the device.
you will need to verify there is a version for your device, and how to use it. i have never used it myself. seems simple enough though. put firmware on device, flash with app. done.
Thank you for this, excellent app.
I flashed stock ROM successfully, but USB still doesn't show any signs of life (the only thing it does is charge battery).
...not a very bright future, right?

right, now that you are clean stock, there should be no reason its not working other than hardware.
edit, maybe try some different usb cables, could be you got a bad one.
I have several other cables and other phones (and other PC-s) at home. All combinations work on every PC.
It's only my phone that doesn't work regardless of which cable I use (or which PC I try to connect it to).
One friend suggested me to downgrade it to 2.3.5 (and then try to update it back to 4.1.2 in case it works [or even if it doesn't ]). His idea is that it might work because gingerbread uses USB mass storage protocol instead of MTP.
I downloaded some apps (tried a few of them) which switch from MTP to USB mass storage (in 4.1.2 ), one even required reboot after changing the setting but none of them gave any results.
Somehow I doubt this switching back to 2.3.5 would work, should I even bother?

USB Broken?

Hey Guys,
in the last weeks a problem with my USB-Port occured. About 2 weaks ago i was able to plug in an usb drive and backup my system onto it via twrp. Yesterday i wanted to refresh the backup and twrp did not recognized the drive. I restarted the phone, and flashed the newest version of twrp via odin. Still not recognizing any usb storage. Then i booted up and pluged the usb storge in ... still not detected.
Even when i connect the phone to my pc it is not detected. The only way to connect my phone to the pc, ist by using the download mode and flash something via odin.
Now I'm confused. Is the USB-port not working or is something wrong with the software. Should i flash a 4 Port firmware and install everything again?
And why the **** is the phone detected while its in downloadmode but not detected in any other mode (recovery, booted up, shutdown etc.) ?
I appreciate any advice
Flash Stock Rom
I tried to flash the stock rom and it didn't solve the problem.
Its so strange i can flash roms and recoverys using the download mode. But in any other mode the usb storage is not detected. Even beeing in the twrp i cannot get the an usb-stick to be detected. Actually im pretty sure the usb-port is broken, but as i said i appreciate every advice.
Last idea i have is to flash a 4 part firmware, but i not sure wheather this would change anything.

If different ROMs don't fix it then yes your USB is FUBAR. The functionality of low end operations such as download mode work because they use very little. Does it charge?/

PC/ADB/MI tools won't recognize device

Hi,
I didnt installed custom roms in a long time so I forgott pretty much everything.
I had Pixel Plus instaled on my Note 7 Pro and I tried yesterday to update to Android 13 version directly from phone settings. I did this choosing manually a zip file that I downloaded and now my phone is stuck at power up. It had just google logo and could not boot up. With power and volume +/- i can get to TWRP and Fastboot but my PC cant recognize my device. Im not sure but usb debugging should be on if I didnt touched anything after installing custom rom. From TWRP i tried to install original MIUI which i downloaded to PC and saved on USB. In TWRP I choose to install from USB, but at the begining of installation there is a few red lines "cant mount something" and then it starts with installation until its finished. But the same problem, the phone is just stuck at power up MIUI logo. Tried again but with saving installation on sd card, and i get same results. MI Tools V2 cant recognize my phone either. ADB wont recognize it also. I installed google android drivers.
Can anyone help...
