You cant beat usabilety and speed of CM7 based roms I currently use Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 wihich is very light and stable but also would reccomend gingerdx because it has a few added features and looks like ICS or JB if you download and add acheps JB theme to it
Minimal and most stable - 2.3.7 GB is what you are looking for.

On GB they are oxigen rom, and gingerDX
on ICS i use placebo rom. for me its the most stable.
but since you want a fast rom stay with GB
Gingersnap...best till date...great camera quality
Do not underestimate Mukulsoni's Kitkat ROM for our old faithful friend. Stable and smooth. Also the latest droid:good:

I disagree.
WLAN is crap in his rom. there are several ppl who have the issue but he doesnt give a **** and focuses on completly wrong things. like OTA update....who the f*ck needs this? if i have to flash it with recovery first time, then i can do it again with a new version. nobody needs this ota **** wasting space on the phone.
And when he says "the rom is smooth and fast". It feels like my grand ma with the rollator can beat this "fast" rom!
i try the oxygen roms next hopfully there no such issues.
EDIT: AND he doesnt give the option for ppl like me who doesnt want use Link to SD or AD2Sdx to disable it.
Let's Agree to disagree my Friend!

The CM11 WIFI problem on LG Optimus One has solution. first i have t say "Mukulsoni" IS DOING GREAT!! bringing the KitKat to P500 is really something, man!!! the ROM is not as much fast as CM7 is, BUT it's still smooth and KitKat BEAT'S anyway!
we need to accept that P500 does not meet the minimum system requirements for KitKat (internal memory, CPU speed and so..) and if we consider this, show's how much fast is his ROM!!
The CM11 WIFI problem on LG Optimus One is Real :crying: !! I faced it.. but also solved the problem!!
If you set "United States" in [Settings >WIFI >Advance >WIFI Region Code ] it will fix your problem! :cyclops:
the bug is where that you cannot keep this setting!! every time you reboot the device, you need to do it again! but, not a big deal to me anyway.
also there's this Thread which help you get rid of WIFI reconfiguring each time after reboot, by using this WiFix App .
:good: I wish you the best, my bro. :good:
When will you people learn? Bragging about Kitkat "oh look at me I got the newest Android - its not stable, still in development lots of buggs, lagg as hell, little storage and little free RAM, but hey at least I got the newest..".
Besides this cons as long as the dev is unofficial it will never be good as CM9.
Do as you wish, I've said this a couple of times, expecially when JB 4.3 dev came up, people said the same stuff. I don't care about you using KITKAT, but don't make a good commercial about a bad product to non-dev users.

There is no lag. The only lag with kitkat launcher but not a deal, can be beaten with Holo or Nova launchers.
There is no RAM shortage. Learn about Link2sd. I have some 90MBs free now.
You cannot blame without evidence.
We are not fan of kitkat just because it is new. Mukulsoni done well. 3 years old phone now works way better than 2.3.x
I am not saying it is the best ROM, but not deserving such criticism.
Have fun!
ROMs
Tried many ROMs, but definitely can say that CyanogenMod 7 (by FitAmp) is the best. OxygenROM seemed not so good for me. I don't really know why. It seemed that the battery was going down too fast when I used it, maybe It's just me. In CyanogenMod 9 (hephappy 9.2.3) I had issue with SD-Card that would keep unmounting. CyanogenMod 10 was quite good. Phone slept well, but It was a bit laggy for me. I haven't tried CyanogenMod 11 because of many unneeded (for me) "features".
TL;DR
CM7 is the smoothest in performance and best in battery for me.
CM10 is coolest in UI , battery last long if you don't use the phone that much, but sometimes laggy.
CM9 have this weird sd-card issue FOR ME (only few O1 phones have this OR It's just bad sd-card ).

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHA.
No lag ey? C'mon I know you're lying.
RAM and Storage are two different things, learn to defer between.
Link2SD Am using it since like forever, I was going to mention a fact that besides the user-installed apps are on SD they still use internal data but I'll double check this.
Evidence? Check the whole thread. I stopped experimenting since JB as I saw in order to run newer android, system will take more and more from our phone's resources. And still checking dev by-the-way.
IT WORKS BETTER THEN 2.3.X? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA
You just made my day xD
PS: If GB supported Greenify and other alike apps I would never leave GB. Am only on ICS because of Android compatibility.

Agreed.
Btw since I don't have this SD-card issue it's only your phone.
Play around a little and perhaps it can be fixed. (do know how to clean-install a new rom?, did you tried formating sdcard in any way and did you tried formating it trough different recoveries?(for example, on 4.2.2 JB I found a fix for non-working sdcard on partitioned sdcard and partitioning it trough diff recovery fixed that issue) etc etc.)
Thread Closed, there shouldn't be any discussion about Best. Fastest ROM/Kernel
Hi everyone,
So i've tried 2 lolipop roms now (currently on the resurrection remix) and i'm experiencing very slow performance on all of them. Typical scenario i'm in an app (lets say chrome) i hit the center home button and then the app drawer button; its taking forever to show the apps and sometimes i will just get a black screen. Just earlier i went into settings and after clicking something it took a few seconds to actually register. I dont remember experiencing this slowness on kitkat or jellybean for that matter. Is it just me?

No you are not.
I am experiencing the same and i am thinking everyone is experiencing this.
I would guess it's a Ram problem, cause thats the reason for all performance problems i had on this Phone, it has always been Ram/Ram-Management.
Take a look at the develpoment Page of CM12.
On the last Pages it seems like C has found a way to make this Rom really really Snappy, but he is still in testing.
Let's hope he will publish it soon.

its as good as the CM versions were a month or so ago. It seems the lollipop performance has dropped off lately as they've added in additional features. I'm on that rom right now because another one became unusable, but its got the same issues as other LP roms, namely multi-tasking and occasional awful performance (but yes, its probably the best of the bunch right now today as far as current roms go).
I'm seriously considering dropping back to KK

The memory leaks are to blame. Its not even device specific. They are trying to work on it. Word is CM12.1 should fix it, but i've heard mixed reviews on that. But yes, CM11 might be the best bet.

5.1 fixes this
I just installed 5.1 by epinter and I have to say it runs amazingly fast, smooth and stable.
Everything that bugged me out is gone.
You can keep Whatsapp, Chrome and Maps in Memory - it's just awesome.
It's also very snappy and apps start a lot faster.
And keep in mind this is the first attempt at porting 5.1.
Did I mention the battery lasts almost 50% longer as well at my first day of usage?
Hello,
I am not sure what i should choose... i like a stable ROM and good camera quality but i like also stock android and latest Android version! how is the difference between the camera on CM/MIUI?
now i am running SMIUI (5.1.1 ) with NOVA launcher to get a taste of stock android
Thanks for your replys and help!

yeah, that was going to be my next venture ... I am just waiting for the unlock code from Xiaomi if it will arrive in the next days, otherwise i will go with the guide to do it without the code .
At the moment I stick with smiui(6..) with root, xposed, viper4android...
It is great.
But I'm waiting for an official release of cm, aosp...
CM 13 doesn't run like I'm used to and the lack of custom kernels is pretty bad.
At the moment I don't have a big reason to stick with stock android.
On my s4 I only used GPE of android.
So I'm used to a 100 % customized system.
But for now I have to stick with smiui.
Because it works the best.
(only with xposed )
Camera quality miui>aosp/cm
It crashed a lot and it was a bad experience for me.
CM13 in Mi4c bad? How can you say that?
My experience with CM13 Team Superluminal has been awesome! some keys points for you.
-Batery life is a lot better (Screen time is almost the same but standby time in CM13 is ULTRA OPTIMIZED only 1 percent in all night)
-Camera is good (Not at level of MIUI)
-No crashes since last build (1 week now)
-Google apps working
-Now CM13 TS is stable, you get updates from OTA.
-Now, not coming back to MIUI.

He is probably using CM13 ported by other members. I'm using TS CM13 and it's amazing. I think the camera image quality on TS CM13 is as good as MiUI, even though the UI is not as convenient. No crashing of the camera app.
Maybe the new version is better. i used mc 13 from ts.
i tested it 1 or 2 months ago and i got some bad problems.
i dont say it is bad but for me it was'nt stable enough to switch.
but im still waiting for an official release.
just try it out and see how it works for you
TSL's CM13 is great! You can try also Ketut Kumajaya's almost-AOSP CM13 Nexus-fy
I'm also using TS CM13 and i have to say after the release of source code, stable cm13 and firmware update from Xiaomi i'm having a really good experience with my phone. it runs great, and i also used xiaomi.eu builds and loved it, but i could not get over the little things/overal look and feel (and behavior) of the os. To be fair, i always preferred cm, more than stock, for it's simplicity and customization options.

no problem, to be clear, i'm using 0423 build, flashed fw update from miui stable, but not the gpu blobs as described on their website:
Based on stable/cm-13.0-ZNH2K branch.
Proprietary blobs are from miui stable V7.2.4.0 version. http://www.teamsuperluminal.org/download/ts_libra_miui_v7240_fw_patch-zip)
Imho when using a new rom, give it 2-3 days to settle in in terms of battery performance.
Well seeing as this died: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...m-kernel-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-3-t3626403 time to move on.....
Im looking for a stable ROM:
* Bluetooth must work
* GPS must work
* Clean ROM; Some of the suggestions here already have Magisk or Xposed "built in". That's not very clean and it's intended use.
I need those two features for work.
I also need stability; No random stupid reboots with dev trying to figure out what it might be.
Obviously, features working: 4G,rotation, battery life, Wi-Fi....
Any suggestions?
Thank you
I'm in the same position but finding it hard to come up with a good reason. I tried AOSPext and had a couple of issues (banking apps detecting root) , then found I couldn't flash an update as Oreo encryption isn't supported by TWRP. I need an encrypted phone so i went back to Sultan's.
I think I'll just stick with it, but I'd be interested to hear a good rationale for upgrading...
Security patches?
Directive Oreo features?
i would personally recommend for AOSP Extended Rom, with Franco Kernel, performance is lag free, no stupid random reboot, no force closes only issue so far i am facing is with jio4gvoice its always closes once u change wifi, but this is common for all rom except, stock android 13.1

And as i said, detects as rooted by banking apps. You can make them work with Magisk but do you really want to break the terms of your bank?

Try Dirty Unicorns, or Omni. Bluetooth MAC address wasn't an issue with those. And GPS wasn't a problem. It's your choice, man.
Try TugaPower. Have been on his ROM for the longest time and I can confirm it as a super stable option.

Yes.
That statement basically is telling me you work a 9-5 basic job, which requires 0 mental effort as you repeat the same process every single day of you life until you die. Your job is also in danger as you can not only be replaced by a human but even maybe by a robot in a chain line.
My suggestion: doesn't matter if you are old, you only live one life and I doubt you are happy. Do what you really want to do in your life. Go back to studying and actually have a career.

Mods ain't gonna like this kinda shyt, man. Try LineageOS 15.1 official nightlies too. Been using it without any problems with either GPS or Bluetooth (headphones with MIC). Haven't tried AOSIP, could be worth a look but it's your call.

I can confirm, too.
Very stable, includes root with hiding options for banking / online gaming apps (Magisk).
Versions starting from 19.0 are based on official LineageOS.
GPS and/or Bluetooth problems are (at least on my OPO) solved.
Battery life is rather good; enabling deep doze with Greenify or similar apps I get about 4/4,5 hours of SOT.
Last, but not least, this ROM is updated very often (about on a weekly basis).

Being a snob doesn't get you brownie points. Am guessing that you are just a student pretending to be busy and thinks no end of himself. This response also states that you aren't too happy yourself else you wouldn't respond in such a manner.
Every job requires mental effort. Some push the boundaries of your imagination and some.. not so much. But one needs to work to understand this.
So stop behaving and responding like a spoilt brat and do some research on the ROMs next time. It will take less than 30min of your time.
I am running sultan's los 14, which is super duper stable and fine for daily use. I am considering to change for sth better or just newer -- do you still recommend TugaPower based on Oreo ?
I am running agent fabulas POSP 9.0 Superb rom
one of the stable roms so far i used was Candy6 (android 6.1 based). Yes it's full of stuff but incredible stable. Otherwise i suggest the latest Lineage os or some light AOSP rom.

It's not dead actually. On 4pda forum you can easily find builds with security patches and Lineage changes merged, otherwise completely stock compared to Sultan's builds. You can PM me if you don't know how to. I don't think we will ever get anything better in terms of camera and battery performance. I cannot see any improvement in moving to Pie or Oreo while developers don't even bother porting Sultan's amazing camera HAL and other kernel things.
Im on a 7.1.2 ROM and its getting real buggy so its time I wipe and switch to a new ROM, preferably newer than 7.1.2
Look, I understand the outdated "test and see which is best" but my phone is for my job and I work all day so I can't be with a buggy phone and be testing, wiping, etc. every day/hours; I need a working phone and stable features. Switching phones and/or a iPhone are currently options Im not looking at.
* Bluetooth hands free MUST work.
* GPS must work
* Camera and its flashlight must work
* Data (4G/WiFi) must work
* I need battery life to maintain a stable level; I can't be carrying powerbanks or stuff like that.
* Responsive; The phone is showing its age but it must be able to keep doing simple tasks as fluid as it can
What do you recommend?
Thanks

7.1.2? Man, you've been missing out! Oreo's been great since it became stable on bacon. And now there's Pie and it's even greater! There are quite a few ROMs based on it available right now, and pretty much all of them are more or less stable, but personally I'd recommend you go with POSP 2.0 - a stable build of it has just been released a few days ago, too, so make sure to check out the changelog as well. It's buttery smooth, rock-stable, everything you mentioned should work flawlessly and it even has features like OnePlus' faceunlock, which is awesome. Of course, there might be some really minor issues here and there, but it's nothing nowhere near as serious as WiFi not working or broken GPS, so don't worry.
In the end, OnePlus One might be an old phone, but its devs aren't any less talented than they were and the development is far from dead

1. Don't play PUBG, so I can't really tell, but it should be similar to how it performs on your current ROM I believe.
2. I don't use AudioFX, but both wired and BT audio seems to work just as well as on Oreo (...which for me was a better experience than the one on Nougat).
3. Decent, again, nothing out of the ordinary, just your usual 4 y/o phone custom ROM experience. It's not buggy though, if that's what you're asking

You might want to invest either in new glasses or english reading lessons because you seem not to be able to read.

Thank you so much for your much needed constructive feedback, Mr. Helpful.

I just read thru all 79 pages of that ROM; That ROM is alpha at best.
Hotspot not working
GPS is glitchy
Lag
etc.
I need something stable.

Eh. If you didn't know, this ROM's been the first Pie ROM for bacon. What you've read through is a discussion about it since its very beginning, while the stable version has been released much later. I'm happy with what I'm using - no lags for me, and the GPS works fine. Your call though.
Also, there's no reason to be rude to people in the POSP thread just because some things don't work in your case. Wi-Fi hotspot is pretty much the only noticeable bug at this moment (it does work, just under specific conditions), while for me and the vast majority of people everything else works well. Not to mention that calling others kids is certainly not a mature behavior. Developers are building ROMs when they're free, for free, and sharing them with others, even though it's hard work. Their hard work. It's not a service you pay for that magically allows you to demand whatever you want - if you don't like it, don't use it and go make your own ROM instead of bashing everyone around since you seem to know better.
Honestly it's a bit of a stretch to be asking for a fully featured and stable version of Pie on this phone this early anyway. I'd suggest you just stick to Oreo for the time being anyway. Google changed a bunch of **** for Pie for no good reason and made the whole experience slower, less intuitive and more Apple-like. You missed out on Oreo, so just install a nightly official build of LineageOS 15 or something and enjoy the customised and optimised experience of a mature operating system.

I neved asked for Pie. At best, you can understand I asked for Oreo (which would have been nice but).
Official LineageOS 15.1
I've been using forked LineageOS 15.1 from microg, with microg built-in, and it's running smooth, no complaints at all. The official version should be better than the Forked version isn't it?
Mod Edit

Still waiting for a true ROM that is made for daily, with no worries about bugs or anything.
Guys here don't seem to understand the meaning of the term "stable" - just because something is free, that doesn't mean i can call my beta stable.
I am currently on Official LOS 15.1 - and it is a pain in the ass to use my phone at the moment. It lags on every user interaction, and if i use it too fast , it restarts. Also BT is buggy, sometimes it just disconnects and doesn't work anymore, even if i restart my phone, i must remove the device from the list and reconnect - which is, in case of connecting to alexa, a doubled pain in the ass because the alexa app laggs ultra hard.
@riahc3 On which Rom are you currently? Did you find a stable before 7.1? From what i recall, i didn't find a stable 6 with working quick charge - which is a requirement, i do not have the time to load my phone about 5 hours in the middle of the day, what i found i must do with each rom i tested.
arrows 9.0 + franco kernel r56 + google camera
seems stable. battery life moderate.

which google camera version?
Still waiting.
Probably tried 15+ different ROMs over the years of owning my OPO.
Only ROMs I've ever used that worked without issue are Sultanxda's, but because he's just one guy he can't devote a lot of time to it, so it's still being maintained on 7.1.2. I've been using Sultan's ROMs for probably 2+ years now and forgot what a dumpster fire the rest of the ROM community is, and made the mistake of trying the official Lineage 16.0 build. The fact that the ONLY downloads available were a weeks worth of nightly builds should've set off alarm bells in my head, but I ignored it and went ahead because I wanted to try 9.0. Huge mistake. Wifi takes TEN minutes to connect or reconnect to a network, and mobile data only works for the first 5 minutes after booting before dying, forcing you to hard reset every 5 minutes to use mobile data.
At this point, I'm going back to Sultan's ROMs and never looking back. Whenever he decides to drop his OPO project, that'll be the same day I drop my OPO. Actually have a work phone as well that's an iPhone 8 and I wish those things supported third party ROMs, because that turd just gets slower and buggier each passing month, dropped calls, no data, broken wifi, broken video chat, it's like paying a premium to get a hobby phone. I hope to god Microsoft wakes up and comes back to the mobile space, it seems they're the only company on the planet that knows how to put out an OS that actually works, and can properly maintain it with regular updates. In the end I'll probably end up getting a Pixel 2 or something if I want a usable phone.

Please do not take it too much to myself, which I will write now.
From your post I conclude that you have excessive requirements for ROMs, which are actually made by amateurs-hobbyists.
Despite the seemingly correct theses, in my opinion your entry is of no value because you were not active in this forum in reporting bugs and patches to the ROM.
