[Completed] Lost twrp recovery by flashing another recovery on LG G2 VS980 - XDA Assist

On my LG G2 VS980 I lost my TWRP recovery by trying to flash CWM Touch. Now when it boots into recovery I see a black screen with some tiny writing that instantly disappears back into a black screen and stays there until I hold power down for about 15 seconds. Originally I had stock 26A (KitKat), rooted with Stumproot and used Autorec to put TWRP on and that worked fine. Then I flashed CyanogenMod 12.1, that worked fine. Today I decided since I had CyanogenMod, I would try out their Touch recovery instead of the older TWRP. I downloaded Flashify and the latest CWM Touch recovery and downloaded Flashify and flashed the recovery with no error messages. I gave it root permission (the built-in CM root permission) and then booted into the mess I have now. I have tried to flash TWRP, but it does the same exact thing- same for trying CWM regular (non-Touch) recovery flash. None of the button combinations except power + up buttons do anything except boot into the regular phone or they boot into the broken recovery that shows the white writing that turns to the black screen of death. I tried going into settings and turning the developer settings on that says Update Recovery When Updating ROM, but that doesn't change anything. I also tried using ROM Manager, but it never worked flashing, even before. (It still does the same thing, it acts like it flashes, says its successful, then the recovery is the same. Useless.)
One thing that is odd is that I tried to use Autorec again. I downloaded the latest version from Play Store and when I tried to flash recovery with it it told me my phone was not supported- that it only works on VS980 model!?! That IS my model. So that's the gist of it. I really would appreciate any help at all. I love my phone.

Recovery was deleted during flash?

So I was trying to get HyperDrive running on my phone and had flashed it a few times. I was using TWRP to flash and accidently picked Format for the wipe. Then I flashed Liquid Rom. Realizing it was more of an AOSP rom I tried flashing Hyperdrive again. Again being stupid hit the Format wipe. Then when I tried flashing the rom it flashed but when it rebooting the splash/loadscreen for the rom just continuously played. Also I can no longer access TWRP. I tried using ODIN to put a stock rom on again, but I meet the same problem of the continuously loading screen.
Help Please? I'm slowly losing it...
Take the battery out then replace it then hit the power button and home button and volume up and try to get to recovery

did it and it goes to the samsung with the unlocked lock and says on the top "booting recovery" then goes black vibrates and then reboots
Okay I finally got it working. Not sure what caused it but it seems flashing a ODIN package that supported recovery worked its magic. From there I was able to access the stock recovery and then Flashed an ODIN package containing a stock rooted rom.

[Q] SOLVED Problem flashing CyanogenMod 9.1.0 Stable

I rooted my MT4GS a few months ago but stuck with the stock ROM. I decided I wanted to try out the CyanogenMod 9.1 ICS ROM. I followed the following steps:
1) Installed ROM Manager.
2) ROM Manager indicated a newer version of ClockworkMod Recovery and I installed it (5.0.2.7).
3) Using ROM Manager, did a full backup of the current ROM. All went well.
4) Using ROM Manager, downloaded and installed CyanogenMod 9.1.0 stable-doubleshot. I specified to wipe the data and cache partitions. The installation seemed to go normally.
When the phone rebooted, it was stuck at the logo screen. Had to remove the battery to turn it off. Tried a couple times, still the same.
Since I had the backup, I decided I would use CWM to restore the old ROM.
When I boot into recovery mode, it shows CWM 5.0.2.7, but whatever option I try to choose from the recovery menu, The screen just goes blank with the CWM logo in the middle and nothing else happens. Hitting the power button returns me to the menu, but no option works, even power down or reboot. It just goes back to the CWM logo again and I have to remove the battery to shut it down.
So, I thought I would try using fastboot to flash the ROM again. When I boot the phone into the boot loader and select fastboot, then plug the phone in via USB, nothing happens. Windows does not see the phone and ADB or fastboot don't see it either. It's not a driver issue, as the computer is still setup from when the computer was rooted and I connect the phone all the time with no problems.
When the phone is off and plugged into USB or the charger, I still get the charging light, though it goes off after about 10 seconds, then comes back on and cycles like that.
Is there anything I can try at this point, or is my phone bricked? It seems like I followed all the steps correctly. Is there an update.zip I can put in the root folder and see if it picks it up?
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, after rebooting Windows, I was able to get the USB connection to the phone to work in fastboot. It seems I missed the step described in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508556
which states with S-ON you must flash the boot.img separately. I did that via fastboot and the phone boots into cyanogenmod now.
However, I still seem to have the issue with clockwordmod recovery. As long as I do the recovery functions from rom manager, everything is fine, but when I manually boot into the recovery menu, I get the same behavior of any choice from the menu just blanks the screen except for the CWM logo and nothing happens. I tried reflashing the recovery image using fastboot, but still no go.

This is solved also. Seems on the MT4GS, the trackball is the selection button. The power button appears to only be a back button.
What a thread! Two nicely phrased problem definitions, two well explained solutions, and all from the same guy. Sorry we weren't able to help directly, but you obviously found the answers you needed elsewhere in the forum. And you updated the title as well to show it was solved. Thanks.

Damn FastBoot Mode! Not bricked... but stuck.

Hey guys! So I've had a Note, a Note 2, and now have the TMobile LG G2. All of which, I've rooted, ROMed and had my fun with, but for a week, this issue has brought my fun to a screeching halt. I hope someone can help.
I just rooted my G2 while in 4.2.2, intending to install a KitKat ROM while maintaining root access. Looking for a quick way to add custom recovery, I backed up my stock recovery using Flashify, and also using it, I installed the latest TWRP for my phone. After installation I got a black screen that says:
[830]fastboot mode started
[880]udc_start()
and I have no options. Thankfully I can just hold power to reboot my phone normally so I'm not softbricked. But I get the same screen any time I boot into recovery. And when I restored my stock recovery through flashify I got the black screen with the android mascot on his back with the red exclamation mark. I tried flashing TWRP, and Philz through Flashify and I get the "fastboot" screen again. Can someone please help? Thanks so much in advance.

[HELP THREAD] My N5 won't boot.

Hi everyone, I just bought a N5 yesterday (i was using a N4 for almost 2 years) and I unlocked my device using the Nexus Root Toolkit, flashed the latest TWRP, installed ParanoidAndroid as my main OS and everything was fine untill the next step...
I was an avid user of MultiRom on my N4, so I flashed MultiRom on my N5 and everything was fine, I even tried to flash the official MiUI as a secondary OS but i got some errors and I just deleted that listed rom, no biggies... after that I booted into PA and flashed a custom kernel.
First, I flashed Franco's using his tool, and everything went smooth. I even restarted the device like 2 or 3 times while i was installing the usual apps (xposed, changed the font etc), the problem started when I downloaded the HellsCore kernel app from the playstore and flashed the kernel, after that, every time I try to boot my device it gets stuck on a black screen, it doesnt even show the Google logo with the unlocked icon at the beginning, it just gets stuck at that point.
My guess was that the Hellscore kernel had some issues with Multirom, and I started the fastboot recovery via ADB and flashed Franco's Kernel again... nothing happened, I still got a black screen.
I tried flashing the entire rom again (PA) and the same, black screen.
I also tried installing the original TWRP (not the MultiRom modded TWRP) and guess what??? I stilll got the same black screen.
The only way to get past thu it is to disconnect my device from USB, press power for 10 secs and after that i have to press power+volup+voldown.
That gets me to the fastboot. If I try to boot to the OS from there, i get a black screen. If I try to boot into the recovery, it boots ok.
The only way to boot into ParanoidAndroid is using the Nexus Root Toolkit and using the Franco's Kernel (r57) to boot TEMPORARY into the OS.
I dont know what else can I try, can someone please give me some advice??? Please. D=
Thanks in advance!!!

Phone Keeps Getting Stuck In Recovery

My phone is rooted and still running 4.4.2 with bloat removed. The other day I decided to install TWRP Manager and upon opening it up, it gave me an option to install TWRP v2.8.5.0. So I installed it and my phone would not boot back up, just stuck in TWRP. So I found this zip file LG_G3_Flash2FixStuckRecovery.zip on XDA that allowed my phone to boot back up. But now at least once a day it reverts back to TWRP and is stuck there until I install the zip again. Anyone know how to stop it from doing this?
Ive been having similar issues with my d852 and find it helps bigtime to stay away from the newest versions of twrp until they are bug free. I installed 2.8.6 yesterday and my Phone would not restart at all or it would do what yours is doing. I'm not saying that it is definitly a TWRP issue, but I am saying that once I installed 2. 8.4 the issue was gone completely. If you try going back a couple updates to an older version and it helps let me know as I'm kind of curious
HOW did you get into recovery. I got 2.8.6.1 & I do the power + vol down button thing and it doesn't take me to recovery.
