Trying to install 6.0.1 dev edition - HTC One A9

Hi there been a while since I've flashed stuff on htc devices and i'm trying to get dev edition 1.55.617.4 rooted odex rom on my device, i'm s-off and super cid rom installs but won't boot, i'm presuming its boot. Img or firmware related? Just after info if I extract boot. Img and firmware from the rom and flash separately will this solve the issue and will it remove twrp?
Currently on dev edition 1.12.617.6 CL639737
Thanks for any advice

Change the SUPER CID to BS_0001, install the original RUU from: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.56.617.1.exe, then proceed to install the TWRP and Root with Windroid.

Hi there it won't let me change the CID to what you've stated above it says invalid, also the link i think is for the ATT version, i'm in europe so believe i need the GSM version ?
I can change the CID to HTC__001 for example but not what you've quoted...
Really struggling to get my phone updated to 6.0.1 i've only had it a few days tried numerous methods but not getting anywhere fast I thought if i was S-off and Super CID you could pretty much flash anything as long as it was for your correct phone model ?
Hence me presuming my issue was more boot.img and recovery.img related ?
I downloaded the official Dev edition RUU from the HTC Dev download section but that won't install either...
Getting confused i'm sure i'm probably missing a pretty easy step somewhere...

I think you have the wrong forum ?

Got it sorted in the end, changed the info.txt file in the firmware to suit the phone, even though it said it failed when installing the firmware it had actually installed and then the 6.0.1 dev edition rooted rom installed... Happy days...
So i'm not sure if the Mid or Cid was the issue but either way when i changed the info.txt file to suit it worked...

[Q] Installing RUU, which one to choose

Hi,
My battery has been acting up for almost half a year now and my usage time is half of what it was when i got it. I have been installing several different ROMs and kernels so I am at a lost on what's wrong. So I have decided to install a RUU to see if a total reset can fix my phone.
I found this page: http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=Ville
Does anybody know which RUU from the link is the newest/best? Will I get updates from HTC when I do this?
Currently running trickdroid 10.3.2, bricked kernel, twrp 2.3.3, S-OFF and superCID - is there anything in particular I should know before doing this?
I have never installed a RUU before, hope somebody can help
anyone? Or perhaps just a part answer

Choose RUU according to your CID.
Must restore original CID to avaoid having problems with OTA updates.
If you receive OTA updates with superCID, a brick is going to welcome you.

Ok so i am in a similar fix.
I obtained S-Off/superCID the very next day i got my One S .. things were running smooth on stock. Looked out for some ROMS and finally installed one. Now I want to revert to my stock ROM while maintaining S-off/root. My problem is only that i don't find this ROM stable or the kernel .. just want to revert to stock.
Live in Pakistan, hence i doubt OTA is going to ever cause me any trouble. Could you please recommend which RRU should i install?
Would really appreciate some help from a fellow countryman

Yes, you're right. Latest 4.2.2 Custom ROMs are having some bugs at the moment.
I need to know some details before I recommend anything.
1. S3/S4 version processor? (CPU-Z from play store will tell you that)
2. CID & MID (CID getter from play store will tell you that)
3. Last Stock firmware you had/installed?
4. HBOOT version?

Okay that's good but I need to know the original CID that the phone was shipped with.
Also, I'll need to know MID (Model ID). You can find it out via CID GETTER. When you open the app search for the line [ro.aa.modelid]: PJxxxxxxx that's the model ID

Ok. I deem this RUU to be the most suitable for you, which is Here.
Just run the RUU and it will do the job for you.
A word or two of caution here:
1. The RUU will erase everything.
2. After the RUU, you might want to change your CID back to HTC__001 because it has been rumored that HTC will release JellyBean 4.2.2 + Sense 5 for the One S. If you update the ONE S via OTA with SUPERCID, you will brick your device.
And anyway, SuperCID is not necessary at all for flashing Custom ROMs.
3. You will lose the Root for sure. But you can flash custom recovery + SuperSU again after going stock.
Edit: Oh! and match the MD5 hash of the downloaded file and the one on the server. MD5 checking utility is on XDA somewhere.
Edit 2: The CID in all cases comprises of 8 characters. i.e HTC__001 (8 chars), BM___001 (8 chars, my CID) etc. So when changing the CID, be sure to have an 8 character CID.

Will follow your instructions. I was following a guide (All in one tool kit for ONE S) to achieve S-OFF for rooting and following that procedure the CID was reset as well. Not sure whether i can achieve S-OFF without meddling with the CID .... This being my first HTC after SGS and SGS2.

Ok. Some interesting info for you again:
- S-OFF/SuperCID is not necessary for Rooting/Custom Recovery/Flashing Custom ROMs. You must have missed something.
- Just need to Unlock bootloader to Root/Flash custom recovery/custom ROM

For all I have read, the reason for going after S-Off to begin with is essentially to gain capability to flash customer roms. I feel sorry for being a consistent bother, but could you please guide me towards a thread where I can learn rooting without messing with S-Off ...

haha... Yes..
Well the All-in-One-Toolkit by Hasoon2000 is the one you have to follow. But no S-OFFing/SuperCID.
You just need the bootloader unlocked to get Rooted/Custom ROM/Recovery.
Since you have already unlocked the bootloader, I think it's not necessary to use the AIO toolkit again.
What we need is this:
- Run the RUU. (Run it first, and if it gives you errors, you might need to Relock your bootloader which is quite simple).
[For the latter part] - Then if you want to Root you stock ROM, we will have to flash custom Recovery, which again is quite simple and can be flashed from fastboot. I'll guide you on this part later when you are stock again. No biggy.

AOA Orak,
I installed the RUU and am back to stock now. Using the toolkit installed TWRP S4 recovery but when i try to go into recovery a red triangle with an exclamation mark appears; the phone stays with it for a while and then reboots to normal desktop. Tried it a number of times with the same result. Since i am unable to go into recovery, i cannot flash the supersu.zip and thus no root :/ Should I go for CWM?

Ok so i figured it out in the meanwhile .. I had locked the bootloader before running the RUU. Unlocked it, installed recovery and flashed SU successfully.
So now I have two questions:
1- Do i need to re-lock the bootloader? If yes, will I still be able to flash custom roms?
2- How do i revert my original CID value? Will 'fastboot writecid HTC__001' do the trick? Are there any pre-requisites for it?

- Okay before anything, i would advise to flash TWRP 2.3.3.0 recovery and you will avoid many issues currently being faced with 2.5.0.0.
You can find 2.3.3.0 Here.
If you need help on flashing, ask away.
- now your questions:
1. No and No
2. You have to boot into bootloader and then go into FASTBOOT and write the command
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
BTW, I assume you have adb+fastboot files on your PC?

[Q] Which ROM's should i install?

Hi everybody. I recently bought a HTC One S z560e it says on the box.
I documented on wikipedia and that is the S3 processor variant.
My question is that: S4 roms will work on s3(i doubt they don't coz of CPU architecture), i have seen some ROM's(threads) in which the developer doesn't specify whether is an s3 or s4 ROM.
I have also seen the HTC One S C2 variant.. what is that?
I know that the codename for htc one s is "ville" but i have also seen "ville2".. which one is the s3 variant?
Tnx in advance!

hi. s4 roms will definnetly not work on your device. you need to look for roms designde for the s3 processor. as you were wondering, the s3 process variant of htc one s is also called htc one s c2 or villec2. any rom that is compatible with any of these names is good for your device.
but....you should first root your device. good luck
Thanks for quick-answer. I managed to root my device and now i am trying to install hboot 2.15 for 2.4 kernel (link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42540922) but unfortunately i can't manage to install coz it says can't pass signature verification. hmm

This is not a kernel for your device.
Here you will find everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2138
I have another question then.. The Hboot needs to be updated in order to make 3.4 kernel based roms to work? or how can i find what hboot version i have? in bootloader mode it says that i have 3.0.0 but i don;t think i'm looking where i need to.
The bootloader you have written HBOOT.
Here are kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402148
And how i install the kernel? in recovery mode?
Yes, through recovery + boot.img via fastboot
and how i write? "fastboot flash recovery boot.img"?

I wrote by mistake fastboot flash recovery boot.img... the phone rebooted but wi-fi wasn't working so i gone back to fastboot and i reinstalled recovery properly then i "fastboot flash boot boot.img" now my phone is stuck at htc one logo..
However i managed to do a backup earlier, i entered recovery restored the whole backup but it stays the same.... what should i do?
Any guide to reinstall stock ROM? to get a fresh start?
Tnx in advance!
If you are able to get into ur custom recovery, all should be under control...
I was in the same situation as you when I rooted my phone and went for custom ROMs... Here is what I did...
1. Confirmed that I have indeed an S3/villeC2 phone.
2. Confirmed that I have minimum HBoot version required for the ROM mentioned below.
3. Went into Thread for Luxandroid ROM and installed the ROM as per instructions. Luxandroid is the ROM almost same as stock.
4. From within the downloaded Luxandroid ROM zip, I extracted boot.img file, connected my phone to pc, booted in fastboot usb mode... And flashed the extracted boot.img with 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' command.
On booting into system, my phone came alive.
Also know that the HBOOT version you see in 'bootloader' window, is related to your phone firmware. You can't update it by flashing kernels. It has to be through RUU and/or OTA updates released by HTC. (google for more)
A boot.img, contains the kernel, which should match the ROM you have or have recently installed. Else your phone will either keep constantly restarting or will get stuck in HTC One S screen.
You should also know that If you are S-On, when you recover a back up from TWRP, you will have to flash the related boot.img from PC as well. If you are S-Off, you need not.
Viper C2 | Liberty Sense V4 | S-Off
I have Hboot 3.01 and i am not quite sure how do i downgrade.
Why do you want to downgrade HBOOT?
Hboot 2.09 - Android 4.0.3
Hboot 2.11 - Android 4.0.4
Hboot 3.01 - Android 4.1.1
I didn't wanted to express downgrade..... it don't work(4.1.1 ROM) that's why i asked for a downgrade... now i am trying to install Luxandroid from the site with bulletproof kernel v1.2
Good choice :good:
Btw.. i read that the word TAMPERED need to be above ***UNLOCKED***, but i dont have that word, any means?
Tampered be the model of S4 processor.
You have UNLOCKED bootloader, ROOT and RECOVERY?
I don't know if the phone is rooted right now.. i have twrp that is on the luxandroid site(2.3.3.0)
I have done everything it says, dow it says on luxandroid site. How much should it take to boot?
Booting from 10 to 15 min.
During installation you follow the instructions?
yes i followed but i think i will start again because i installed the boot.img from luxandroid archive..
At the kernel install, i install the zip in recovery then in fastboot boot.img, after this i must install again the zip?

[Q] K2_UL Stock Recovery.img Needed

Hey guys, I have rooted my Htc One SV - K2_UL phone on :
- android 4.1.2 sense 4+.
- software number 2.14.61.8
- Network is T-mobile UK, although from research it seems the Orange UK equivalents will work.
- Bootloader shows ***tampered*** and ***unlocked*** however I am currently S-ON.
- flashed ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.2
- HBOOT 2.00.0000
(let me know if I have missed any info which is needed)
I am looking to update from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 with sense 5, but to my understanding, that will require the stock recovery.img, and so far I havnt been able to find it anywhere online and was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I originally rooted so I could flash cyanogenmod ect, only to find it wasn't available on the SV :L and now it bugs me not being up to date on software. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, or suggest another solution
Also, is there a chance any other stock recovery.img would work? should I try extracting the recovery.img from the 4.2.2 OTA update for my device and flashing that on my current 4.1.2? or is that just a fast-track to a bricked device... :S
Its not only stock recovery, its also stock boot.img, stock system partition (no apps deleted).
My guide here will bring you to 422, if you follow exactly the instructions.
The steps in short:
- get S-Off with moonshine
- downgrade hboot (see my guide)
- flash RUU to get all back stock (and unbrand in your case)
- run the updates
- enjoy
Hmm ok thanks for the reply, only since I don't have s-off, my system partition has system write protection which doesn't allow me to delete/modify the system partition. Should this not mean it is still 100% stock boot img? The only difference being the SU file in the partition, although my understanding may be wrong aha

Yes, you are right. But most people who have tried to go your way, had not much success.
But you can try it first of course.
You will find 4.1.2 files here.
Or you can try to use the 4.2.2, which you can unzip from this firmware.zip.
None of the k2ul files from that first link match my software number, would that not be an issue?
Sent from my HTC One SV using xda app-developers app
Just to keep you posted, I downloaded the 4.2.2 update on my phone, extracted the recovery.img through my PC, flashed the 4.2.2 recovery through CWM and deleted all SU and BUSYBOX files from my system partition and now it looks as if the update is successfully installing hopefull there are no disappointments when the update finished. Thanks for the help mate

Success! Phone is now running android 4.2.2 sense 5.0. Thanks man. I'll consider rooting again one day if there is ever more custom roms which support the SV, I was a huge fan of cyanogenmod on my old Desire S and was disappointed to find it couldnt be done on the SV

Actually there is only a ruu.exe for the US unlocked version af the a9 so that fits not wth your device.
But you need to get S-OFF first, then change cid and mid and convert to US unlocked and than your good to go.
Link to the thread for converting is here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/one-a9/development/s-off-convert-to-htc-usa-unlocked-1-12-t3271861
Take the latest mm 6.01 rom-zip to convert and then take the ota or use the ruu.exe

Technically yes, you could flash the system.img, but you would also need Nougat's boot.img. Nougat's boot image will not boot on any older firmware.
To upgrade to the firmware from a different MID/CID, you NEED s-off.
Bottom line...you need s-off to upgrade to the Nougat release from the US Unlocked variant. There is no other method.

Sure...the RUU is here. It will cost you $30 to get access to it.
If you want a system image, you can extract it from any RUU you wish. You'll need the RUU Extraction Tool, which is available in another thread here on XDA. The OTA is designed to only patch certain portions of an existing system partition. OTA zips do not contain a system image.
You can flash the Nougat images through recovery if you want, but THEY WILL NOT WORK. You will soft brick your phone! It will not work! The firmware (radio, bootloaders, etc.) are different! 1.xx firmware is not compatible with 2.xx boot images!
If you want HTC's Nougat on your phone, you have three options:
1. S-off your phone and follow the convert to US unlocked guide.
2. Wait until if/when Nougat OTA is available for your A9 variant.
3. Buy a phone that is already officially supported.
Please take the advice provided to you by @MGfusion, @alray, @scotty2000, me, and possibly others in multiple threads on this forum.
If you are unable to s-off, you will not be able to use the software contained in the Nougat RUU for US unlocked at this time. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.
If you are unable to follow instructions, nobody on this site will be able to help you.
I would advise you to stop modifying your phone until you've done more READING on this forum. Without the proper RUU, s-off, or unmodified image files, you will not be able to return to stock.

There is not another link unless it is deeply hidden, you will need to do some deep searching in order to find it, and honestly would just be a waste of time as you will most likely not find it anywhere else

Htc a9 at&t

I wanted the newest android Nougat on the phone so i paid for the sunshine s-off and changed the cid and mid. Loaded twrp recovery couldn't get anything to work with that either so i figured it was cause i didn't erase everything the right way and used twrp advanced wipe and now it looks like im really screwed! any help would be appreciated!! Also i tried the RUU from HTC nothing works !!! i want to cuss so bad AAHHHHHH
You're going to have to be more specific about what you did if you want anyone to help you. What did you try to do that didn't work the first time? What all did you wipe? What is your device doing now? How did you try and use the RUU and did it give you any clues when it didn't work? Can you boot into fastboot mode at all?

If converting, soff is needed, and you have to incrementally update device to current ota.. Cannot just change cid and mid and flash the Nougat ruu...

You will have to take the 1.56.X latest ruu manually (from recovery or SD download mode) and then upgrade using the OTA.
Or PM me for the firmware image for the a9 to get to nougat.
