[Q] K2_UL Stock Recovery.img Needed - HTC One SV

Hey guys, I have rooted my Htc One SV - K2_UL phone on :
- android 4.1.2 sense 4+.
- software number 2.14.61.8
- Network is T-mobile UK, although from research it seems the Orange UK equivalents will work.
- Bootloader shows ***tampered*** and ***unlocked*** however I am currently S-ON.
- flashed ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.2
- HBOOT 2.00.0000
(let me know if I have missed any info which is needed)
I am looking to update from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 with sense 5, but to my understanding, that will require the stock recovery.img, and so far I havnt been able to find it anywhere online and was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I originally rooted so I could flash cyanogenmod ect, only to find it wasn't available on the SV :L and now it bugs me not being up to date on software. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, or suggest another solution
Also, is there a chance any other stock recovery.img would work? should I try extracting the recovery.img from the 4.2.2 OTA update for my device and flashing that on my current 4.1.2? or is that just a fast-track to a bricked device... :S

Its not only stock recovery, its also stock boot.img, stock system partition (no apps deleted).
My guide here will bring you to 422, if you follow exactly the instructions.
The steps in short:
- get S-Off with moonshine
- downgrade hboot (see my guide)
- flash RUU to get all back stock (and unbrand in your case)
- run the updates
- enjoy

Hmm ok thanks for the reply, only since I don't have s-off, my system partition has system write protection which doesn't allow me to delete/modify the system partition. Should this not mean it is still 100% stock boot img? The only difference being the SU file in the partition, although my understanding may be wrong aha

Yes, you are right. But most people who have tried to go your way, had not much success.
But you can try it first of course.
You will find 4.1.2 files here.
Or you can try to use the 4.2.2, which you can unzip from this firmware.zip.

None of the k2ul files from that first link match my software number, would that not be an issue?

Just to keep you posted, I downloaded the 4.2.2 update on my phone, extracted the recovery.img through my PC, flashed the 4.2.2 recovery through CWM and deleted all SU and BUSYBOX files from my system partition and now it looks as if the update is successfully installing hopefull there are no disappointments when the update finished. Thanks for the help mate

No problem, keep us updated, if you had success.

Success! Phone is now running android 4.2.2 sense 5.0. Thanks man. I'll consider rooting again one day if there is ever more custom roms which support the SV, I was a huge fan of cyanogenmod on my old Desire S and was disappointed to find it couldnt be done on the SV

[Solved] Fastboot Root? Can it be done??? HTC Desire

A very straight forward question!
When I boot my Desire I get the splash, screen after that the screen begins to flash blue and white. I think it's something to do with the partitions but I can't be sure.
Anyway, in order to flash anything I need root access. Please help!
Thanks in advance

-----------------
Solution: I was on stock Froyo so all I needed to do was flash the Gingerbread update.zip from HTCDev. That reset the partition table which was causing the problem in the first place.
Thanks for your suggestions guys!

It should be possible using the old "goldcard" method, but i havent tested this.
First download "rooting tools":
if you have a bootloader version 0.75.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.15.xxx.x or below – Desire Rooting Tools
OR
if you have a bootloader version 0.80.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.21.xxx.x or below – Desire Rooting Tools
Next, begin
Step 1 - set up ADB & Fastboot
Step 2 - make a gold card
Note: you will need to format card as Fat32 on your computer as you cannot boot your phone, and if you can access ADB from recovery use
Code:
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
there. Your card will need to be in your phone for this.
Edit: you may be able to get adb while in your boot loop if you cant get it from fastboot, bootloader or recovery
Step 3 - root
Step 4 - install ROM
BTW for the HTC Desire I would recomend choosing from the following ROMs:
4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (experimental):
Sandvold's ROM (currently Evervolv prieview based)
CM9 for Desire (unofficial prieview, released by dk_zero-cool)
2.3 Gingerbread (stable):
Cyanogenmod 7.1
Oxygen
Dont think so
I dont think that you need root access for flashing using fastboot
EDIT: sorry I just saw the date
dont know if there are custom os?
I have hboot 1.02. And adb doesn't see the phone. Only fastboot usb and it's commands. I've also tried running the RUU and flashing it's update via fastboot usb. It flashes fine just still got the messed up screen
Do you have an s-off boot? If so you should be able to re flash the partitions/hboot without faffing about rooting.
Otherwize you can extract imgs partitions to the computer using Fastboot, you may be able to get CID from these if you need it.
If you get the gingerbread update for the desire from the official HTC site (no root required) and install that then it automatically has fast boot installed
Hope this helped

Does the stock froyo RUU (official HTC stable rom) have hboot/fastboot flash included?

I have s-on which I think is the problem. How would I go about extracting to my computer?
It seams I was mistaken in thinking you can back up from fastboot - it is only for flashing to partitions
You only real option is to find an RUU from HTC (singed correctly for your Desire) which contains a fastboot, a hboot and a rom, that way you will have a working device, and can root in the normal way/downgrade to o more favourable RUU version after.
For desire the updates were 2.2 and 2.3 (although 2.3 was considered unstable due to its size and therefore space consumption)
Try these, if one fixes your main problems, you can later work on others (assuming GSM not CDMA, see thread)

Mate these are not RUU, they are just a reference, for example v3.32 is an RUU, Android Revolution HD, Elegancia etc are Custom ROMs based on v3.32 RUU, that's why they mentioned it in there respective titles. Majority People don't flash RUUs, instead they flash custom ROMs made by the devs, they modifies the RUU, and brings it for us with various fixes and Enhancments. I hope my brief post will help make it clear for you.

Glad it did clear your query...if you need original RUU (exe) files, You can grab it Here. It contains the latest RUU as well..
Just want to clarify...so to install a RUU...do I need to have CWM already installed or can it be on stock recovery? I am already S-off...and I've changed CWM to stock recovery....and superCID to the Tmobile one....if I want to flash the TMOUS RUU...is that all I need to do...just run the RUU?

If you want to flash RUU, Refer to This Guide, and follow the steps carefully, and i think you can go to Sensation Android Development and choose to flash the custom ROMs, in my opinion they are highly enhanced for performance, use Insert Coin or Virtuous Inquisition instead.

You seem to know ur stuff im hoping you can help me.
Brand new stock Telstra HTC One XL (Australia)
Unlocked & rooted, TWRP recovery.
Backed up stock.
Installed a few different ROMs before deciding on one.
Accidentally reset factory from hboot instead of twrp.
Lost stock ROM back up.
Mounted USB & copied custom ROMs back across to sdcard.
Files did not appear on sdcard.
Decided to partition and try again.
On sucessful partition, suddenly all files became visible, despite partition warning "all files will be deleted"
Flashed Viper XL successfully.
SDcard total storage reading as 24gb (32gb stock)
1. if i have done anything to reduce my available storage i want to get it back.
2. id like to go back to stock rom and basically start from scratch with clean stock backup and clean storage.
I found a link to the ATT One X stock rom on the US HTC support site.
I cant find anything similar on the AU site for the One XL.
I read i have to re-lock my bootloader, thats fine i found a tutorial, but i need to find the stock rom.
Also i have no understanding of RUU nor do i have it downloaded.
EDIT-
I have just downloaded RUU Evita UL Telstra WWE 1.89. 841.9 Radio 0.18c.32.09.01 10.9 3a.32.20L release 266699 signed .exe
As per the info in hboot.

This is sensation only forum.. But as the question is kinda generic I can help you
Now if you want to go back to stock then options are
1. Restore the stock backup (which you've lost now)
2. Flash a recovery flashable zip (just like a custom rom zip) of stock rom (which makes it almost stock)... You need to find it in the Sensation xl section of xda
3. Flash a ruu..Use this guide as reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26541170 (everything won't apply for you.. But almost 90% of it applies)
As for sdcard data loss.. Backup the current contents of sdcard and do a proper format of the sdcard using sdpartitioner(a good tool for formatting sdcard in windows)
Btw I don't understand why you need a partition of sdcard

It was suggested to me by a mate who has more experience with android than i do.
Thought it might be a good idea to put the back up / roms there.
Just found it odd that after mouting and transferring them, they didnt actually become visible until after the partition was created?
Thanks for the rest of the advice i'll give it a look.
I replied to you here knowing its a sensation forum only because when i searched this was the only relevant thread i found.
I found this tutorial and have followed it to step 5. the point of flashing the recovery.img but i get "error; cannot load recovery.img"
1. Download the correct RUU for your device and carrier!!
2. Charge the battery above 50% or for at least one hour. If the battery dies during the flashing process, you could hard brick the phone!
3. Run the RUU until the wizard comes up. While the RUU wizard is open, find the temporary folder it created. (Open Explorer in Windows and type %temp% in the navigation bar.) There will be two folders with long encrypted names. In one of them you will find ROM.zip. Open it with 7zip and extract recovery.img. Put it in the location were you've installed Android SDK tools. This is the stock HTC Recovery and it is needed to run the RUU.
4. Boot the phone into bootloader (power off, hold down volume and press power) and highlight FASTBOOT using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB.
5. Open a command prompt in Windows and navigate to the folder where you installed Android SDK tools. Flash the stock recovery extracted in step 3 above using the following command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
6. Relock the bootloader using the following command:
fastboot oem lock
7. Re-run the RUU. It will restore the device to it's original condition, locked (though *** RELOCKED ***) and unrooted.
Once the install is done you'll have unlock the bootloader again using the token you already have from the first time, reflash CWM Recovery and re-root. All this will be 10x easier than the first time.
If you do re-root your phone, be 100% you backup the stock ROM in ClockworkMod Recovery before making changes!

[Q] Can not get any Rom or Ruu to flash my soft bricked device

New to HTC One S.
Device Sim unlocked but branded Bell Mobility, was running 4.1.1 hboot 2.15 Dev Unlocked and I am able to use fastboot to push boot images and recovery images. I am able to mount the internal SD to my computer and copy zips. However nothing will flash. Currently I have twrp 2.4.4.0 and am hopeful someone might have a nandroid for Bell... or able to create one and share.
P.S. when I flashed the boot images for the rom it honestly wiped my internal SD and I lost my nandroid... wishing I had copied it to my computer.
Open to advice! thanks!

Use 2.3.3.0 instead...
Thanks guys, I have actually tried 2.3.3.0 due to reading that in another thread. What I see is I can get various aroma installers to start, but at the actual install they seem to fail gaining access to areas on the phone. It's worth mentioning that I have reflashed stock boot img and stock recovery, relocked and attempted various RUU's but I understand that the hboot at 2.15 is most likely why that method fails.
I'm unlocked again but I think I'm going to try reflash stock recovery relock clear and reset all storage etc. then unlock use twrp and re-attempt a flash.
Any suggestions on a rom that should'nt have issues with hboot 2.15?
To flash RUUs you need to be on stock recovery, not custom.
2.15 came with JB. Trickdroid or ViperOneS would be sense roms, else you could flash CM 10.1 or derivates (AOSP/AOKP).
As long as you flash the according kernels in fastboot mode you can also use ICS roms. That doesn't matter.
--- edit
as with 2.15 you could only flash the 3.16 RUU which still isn't available (the one here is for ONE S SE and exits with errors. To flash earlier RUUs you will need an earlier bootloader version. There are two ways: To downgrade bootloader or s-off. As downgrading is a pain you should think about s-off.
Thank You
Yes I was on stock recovery and stock boot img and relocked during that attempt.
does the hboot version matter?
(based upon what I have read it won't flash if my hboot is newer)
Ok, just answered this as edit while you posted. lol
Thank You again!
I have looked into downgrading and a pain might be an understatement I'm looking into the One S toolkit to see what i can do for me... Here's hoping the RUU with hboot 2.15 gets leaked soon.
Let me pm you with a few useful links for a s-off device this evening (Germany, UTC +1) as it's 5:45 in the morning here and I've got to go to work now...

Holy crap that was painful...
I once again have a rom running! I did so many things but in the end I pushed Energy Rom to the device and it's boot.img after wiping multiple times reformating. Energy Rom is the only one that would complete install without write errors. Very strange stuff but for now i am happy.
Thanks again man!
Damn, I searched this thread for 20 minutes... :cyclops:
Which recovery are you using?
Anyway you should better use TWRP <= 2.3.3.0 for flashing roms.
(gonna write your pm now, will take some time and sorry for the delay!)
I'm all good now. Running Venom and very happy. I appreciate your efforts.
The recovery question tho I had to swap back and forth between twrp 2.3.3.0 and the most recent cwm. Mainly because of I could only send adb via twrp and I could only use adb shell with cwm, the nightmare is over!

Cannot s-off t-mob102

Hi guys,
so happy to be a part of this community!
My HTC One S is unlocked, rooted and S-ON:
CID: T-MOB102
HBOOT: 2.15
I'm currently using MaximusHD 10.0 (though I couldn't make the firmware upgrade because I'm not S-OFF).
I'm creating this thread because none of the currently opened ones covers my case. I wanted to S-OFF earlier and tried Facepalm but could not get superCID (as far as I know this is because of the write protection), so this method didn't work for me. Moonshine I think will not work also, because I'm not using a stock ROM. ( From the Moonshine instructions: 8. Use the matching Stock RUU, some stock based ROMs may work, but we cannot test them all.)
Before flashing MaximusHD 10.0 I've made a backup of my original 4.1.1 ROM that came with the device with the custom recovery (TWRP 2.4.3.0 as far as I can remember). Unfortunately when I try restoring from backup my device is in a bootloop.
Can you please advise how to obtain S-OFF so that I can enjoy the MaximusHD?
Please accept my apologies if this is not the right place for this thread.

No, unfortunately I could not find stock RUU for TMOBA devices
If you need stock ruu go to www.htc.com and select your device and download the file for this file to work you need your bootloader to be lock stock or relocked. and just run the ruu and it shold work..
so you dont have any problems enter fastboot and make sure it says fastboot usb and than run ruu and it should put your phone to stock. I just did this with my phone.
Are you refering to the downloads at htcdev because I couldn't find anything else?

Trying to install 6.0.1 dev edition

Hi there been a while since I've flashed stuff on htc devices and i'm trying to get dev edition 1.55.617.4 rooted odex rom on my device, i'm s-off and super cid rom installs but won't boot, i'm presuming its boot. Img or firmware related? Just after info if I extract boot. Img and firmware from the rom and flash separately will this solve the issue and will it remove twrp?
Currently on dev edition 1.12.617.6 CL639737
Thanks for any advice

Change the SUPER CID to BS_0001, install the original RUU from: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.56.617.1.exe, then proceed to install the TWRP and Root with Windroid.
Hi there it won't let me change the CID to what you've stated above it says invalid, also the link i think is for the ATT version, i'm in europe so believe i need the GSM version ?
I can change the CID to HTC__001 for example but not what you've quoted...
Really struggling to get my phone updated to 6.0.1 i've only had it a few days tried numerous methods but not getting anywhere fast I thought if i was S-off and Super CID you could pretty much flash anything as long as it was for your correct phone model ?
Hence me presuming my issue was more boot.img and recovery.img related ?
I downloaded the official Dev edition RUU from the HTC Dev download section but that won't install either...
Getting confused i'm sure i'm probably missing a pretty easy step somewhere...

I think you have the wrong forum ?
Got it sorted in the end, changed the info.txt file in the firmware to suit the phone, even though it said it failed when installing the firmware it had actually installed and then the 6.0.1 dev edition rooted rom installed... Happy days...
So i'm not sure if the Mid or Cid was the issue but either way when i changed the info.txt file to suit it worked...
