[URGENT] Hard Reset and Restore

My Touch Cruise is locked with a password which I cannot find out. The problem is that Hard Reset is out of question.
However, it seems that it is possible to connect it with my PC, and I can explore the folders on my device.
1) What I want to know is, if I copy all the files I have to my PC, and then do a hard reset, is it possible to restore everything as it was before the hard reset?
2) Can I have the same programs as I had before? I guess I had to edit registry as well...
3) I also have spb backup. If I use the backup file I had after a hard reset, will it come back exactlyas it was, with all the programs and stuff?
Thanks in advance!

is it safe to hard reset after SPB backup?

My PC windos xp crashed and lost my backed up contacts, schedules ect.. The problem now is that my XV6800 will not connect to my PC or any PC at all. So I ran SPB backup to back up the entire content of my phone.
my question: Is this safe to hard reset at this point and retrieve all my contacts?
Spb backup automatically softresets everytime u backup PIM, emails, or even system data. I ever tried to full backup my device, and it needed very long long time to finish, then i canceled it
What if I re-flash? Its been a while since Ive done that and I dont remember if I lose my contacts, schedules..ect.

I don't really see why you need to hard reset; your pc is screwed up, so you want hard reset to retrieve contents from a backup? It makes no sense to me, I'm afraid.
You probably just need to delete your active sync partnership and then re-connect with your phone. Backing up then hard resetting then restoring is going to just get you right back where you are now.
If you reflash you´ll loose all your info, but if you have a back up on your sd card no problem (of course reflash with SD card out!)
aha, i've just got your point Try to backup system data, my documents, PIM, and emails. Then u dont need to worry to lose those files (including all apps u installed).
But backing up those files, it doesnt mean u can restore photos or maybe files installer in your SD card. U will need another tool if u delete your photos and files from SD card accidentaly. I forget the name for this tool but u can check it here

[Q] Verizon Moto Razr Maxx has remnants of old installs after factory reset.

I recently reset my phone using the steps outlined in verizons preferred and alternate method with the same results. I made sure to uncheck the box to allow google to backup and restore my files/preferences/apps. But when i look on the phone storage there are remnants of OLD programs (folders) and a couple of pictures, all of which i had assumed would be gone after the factory reset. What did i do wrong? How do i know which folders the phone actually uses, and which are crap that i can delete?
A factory reset won't clear your internal storage. Your best bet is to backup everything you need off of the internal storage, and then delete everything and restore what you backed up.
so hypothetically, everything listed in "device storage" when browsing the phone files is not required for the phone to work? I delete everything in the device storage and still factory reset the phone?
EDIT: WHO KNEW! i deleted the files in storage and it still went through the factory reset just fine. i now have a phone again, not a brick. TY. I guess i was just too cowardly to try it without asking first.
Correct, some apps store data on the internal storage, and that is the folders you are seeing. If you delete them all anything that is coming from an app you use will be recreated when it is needed.

Possible to recover internal storage files Samsung Galaxy Tab Factory Reset?

We had to do a factory reset on our Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T510), and unfortunately didn't realize my daughter's Minecraft Worlds weren't included in the backups we ran. I've tried a few non-rooted data recovery tools, but they only go as deep as the documents storage, and these were buried deep in the Internal Storage system.
Has anyone successfully rooted to recover files from the Internal Storage system after a factory reset?
My daughter is devastated, so we're willing to root the device if it's possible to recover files that way, but don't want to go to the effort if it will be futile.
We've owned the device more than 12 months, so warranty is not an issue.

Xperia Z5 encrypted external SD Card data recovery after factory reset

Hi everybody, I think the title is quite self-explaining but here is the whole story... I had to do a factory reset of my Xperia Z5 due to some slowdowns, and I left the encrypted SD card inside while resetting because I had done this way before and never had any problem. This time though, after reset, many of the files on the SD card have become unreadable, mostly photos and audio files. Searching for a possible solution, I found that maybe i should have unencrypted the SD card BEFORE the factory reset but now I can't undo that so I have to figure out a way to recover the files.
The files are not completely unreadable, since the file manager can see them, and using some apps I have been able to recover some photo, but only the ones that were sent to me, not the ones I took with the camera. The few photos that survived can't be moved nor copied anywhere.
The phone is not rooted and I have no idea how to root it (i know the procedure but reading the forum I noticed that with Z5 there are some DRM problems I wouldn't like to face...). If there is some way to safely root it without losing more data I can consider it.
I tried with Linux forensic apps (like scalpel, foremost etc.) but they have an I/O problem and aren't able to recover the files.
The best solution for me would be to decrypt the SD card somehow... can anyone tell me if there is a way?
Thanks in advance
Never encrypt data drives... and never trust one data drive for critical data.
With no encryption key those encrypted files are lost. If the phone generates a random key (likely) then you be boned.
