Forum App issues - General Topics

Couldn't figure out for sure where to post this. Every time I try logging into the AC app it says connecting to server but doesn't then it tells me user/password incorrect. If I log on from browser or Tapatalk it's fine. Anyone experience this?

[Q] Problem with Tapatalk Android App, not allowing thread posts, please help!

Im using the Tapatalk app for Android to access, login, and post to XDA. BUT, Im encountering problems. Here's the steps of what happens below.
1. I open Tapatalk
2. Im already logged in to XDA in Tapatalk, so I click on the XDA link in my favorites in Tapatalk.
3. Im able to browse all froums and posts within XDA in the Tapatalk app.
4. I decide I want to post a new thread.
5. I click "Menu>New post"
6. I fill in the subject and thread body text field credentials.
7. I click "Submit"
8. I get and error stating "Error connecting to forums, please contact the forum administrator if this problem persists".
Im also using Tapatalk to access my profile for Imserba Forums, and I've posted plenty of threads on Imserba, but Tapatalk does not let me. Even Imserba's mobile 'touch' site wont let me post because it adds tags to my new thread posts when I try to submit my new post and it reverts me back to the "new post" page and gives me an error message stating that I am not allowed to insert tags other than the ones provided, but I dont even add tags, the system is adding them, i delete the tags from the tags field, and try to re-submit it, and it gives me the same dang error message and deny's my posting! Any ideas or suggestions as to why Im encountering these problems?

Can't log in with XDA app or tapatalk on android

Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone can help me fix this issue. Only started occurring today for some reason after a reboot.
Basically I'm logged in to XDA with the app, however I can't reply or view notifications etc as it comes up with an error "security error (user may not have permission to access this feature)"
The same error occurs when I try with tapatalk.
Strangely though I'm still getting notifications like before, I just can't view them when I open the apps.
I can log in with no problems using tapatalk on my iPad and using web browser.
Tried clearing cache, reinstalling apps, wiping app data and reboot with no success.
Is there any way to get these working again?
Also, this doesn't happen when I'm on wifi. I searched these forums and google and found one post from 2011 saying to uncheck 3g compatibility in settings but I can't find that setting anywhere in the app or in general phone rings

Same issue, i thought at first it may have been redirects through tapatalk servers breaking. Disabled those, with crappalins. After doing that it persisted and then found links from 2012/13 where the problem existed and they said that any links that involved search would be disabled via applications to help server load(as they were under heavy load)
I can't confirm as nobody else is talking about it but I'm still effected on/off. Hard linked threads like "Q&A" of any given device will work but things that require a search like "participated" for your username don't generally work.
Not a solution, but sharing of sufferage.

Do you also have the same problem with the XDA app? I find it really strange that this behaviour occurs over 2 apps.
It's also started occurring intermittently now ; may work completely fine for 3 days then it breaks for a couple of days.
I don't use XDA app but it's not the app. All times I've read of it both apps are effected. Its server side whether mobile portal overload or intentional dispersement of traffic by server Admins.

I have a somewhat similar problem, I can't seem to use this app while on my home wifi, but if I connect to my mobile network (Verizon) the app loads and works perfectly. My home wifi always causes the app to say failure to load, even though everything else with my home wifi works. Ive tried clearing data, uninstalling/reinstalling. No luck.

First of all, you revived a thread from 2014 lol.
And second, around the 30th of November, XDA will have a big update, including the app. So your problem may be fixed by the upcoming update. Read more here : https://www.xda-developers.com/big-changes-to-xda-forums-are-coming-soon/

[Completed] Intrusive add or spam only on xda

Me and other users have detected that when browsing xda sometimes appears a popup from www.itt-edu.us and if it is pressed it directs to app 360 light from google play. I have already done factory reset and chrome cleaning but it still persists. Can someone help us please?

TrendStation - a privacy friendly alternative to Tapatalk

Hello,
I'm not associated with the developer of this app, but found this rare gem at reddit.
I was looking for a Tapatalk alternative over the last years, since Tapatalk is getting more and more advertisements (even the paid version) and it was criticized because of data leaks and a very bad privacy policy. The developers of Tapatalk don't listen to suggestions and make the app even worse, from one to the next update.
TrendStation is a Feed Player, which allows you to read RSS feeds, listen to podcasts or, which is my favourite feature of the app:
to browse any forum that uses the Tapatalk API.
I'm blown away by the simplicity of this app and the forum module, which is a lightweight alternative to Tapatalk itself. Forums can be added by adding the link of the corresponding forum.
There is no cloud service behind and the login data is not shared, everything stays local.
Since the app is really great made and the developer fixed bugs immediately when I wrote him, I'd like other users that look for a Tapatalk alternative to know about this app.
They removed ads immediately, when I asked them to do so. They'll add a donate entry at the app settings.
Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.nt.ai
Website of the developer: http://limbostudio.html-5.me/?i=1
E-Mail of the developer: [email protected]
I'd like to share this app with you, because it replaced Tapatalk completely for me.
Please leave your feedback, I want to support the developer with it.
I installed this, looking for something better than TapaTalk that I only use for one forum. It will not add the forums, stating that I have the wrong URL (I know I do not) or forums do not use the Tapatalk API.
It is SNB Forums www.snbforums.com and tried www.snbforums.com/forums and it just does not work. I know they use the Tapatalk API because I can access those forums with Tapatalk.

Do you need authentication to access the forum?
I have a forum that only can be accessed after user login so that's may be the problem about the app not syncing
I can't access either but I know for sure it uses Tapatalk API of course

You can browse them with no log in. I just set at the add forum screen and get the toast stating wrong URL or does not use tapatalk api. Can't even get to the url.
Thanks for the feedback.
I talked to the developer, there seems to be a problem with a few forums using the Tapatalk API (Probably because of Cloudflare).
He is actually working on a fix.
The XDA forum and some other forums I tested (Android-Hilfe.de) are working fine for me.

Yes Cloudflare hosts SNB Forums.
I got following answer from the developer, regarding the problem that some forums cannot be added (Tapatalk API not in use error):
Limbo Studio said:
Hi,
Its seems as if The CloudFlares DDos protection is tampering with the access of the link. The site admins have not whitelisted the Tapatalk API and since these websites have migrated into Tapatalk itself, it explains why you could use these forums in The Tapatalk Application.
This issue has been faced by many around the world -*https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tap...s40.html?sid=9581d9c85a305ea26abd2a244e2cd4b8

Its not the apps fault but the websites, cloudflare blocks the tapatalk api,
ask the website admin to change it , i guess

Pass this on to the dev. New Cloudflare SDK and developer docs.

Its the websites cloudeflare firewall, it does not allow incoming connections with the app because it suspects it as a robot.
I like the app and its simple and efficient UI, and the fact that its only 8MB is pretty impressive

Thanks, I sent your response to the developer. Probably he still cannot do anything about the issue, because of the mentioned Cloudflare Firewall.
Really sad, the app is awesome. But I can only add a few of my forums.

Well its free and you can add all the major forums, so its a win-win
Cloudflare is a nuisance:crying:
can anyone send the apk? My playstore isnt working properly
I must do something wrong, none of the foruns links work, for example to add xda I use the link https://forum.xda-developers.com
Can someone point me in the right direction? tks
Hi, remove https:// to solve the problem.
I tried it, and only XDA worked for me. I really only visit 5 forums. And while I have begun to literally loathe both Tapatalk and Flipboard (these two are one in the same as far as not doing things for users),I cannot switch to to this so (as much as I'd love to) because of this issue..
Very nice presentation though...

IMNSHO that is very bad advise to disable https. With all the hacking / privacy issues on the Internet, more security is essential. not less.
That would be a short term fix at best. If that was necessary, then that alone will keep me from using (or trying to use) TrendStation.

I test and have some comments.
1. Poor translation of the Polish language
2. Additional menu in posts / three dots / slightly visible, changing the theme helps a little.
The appplication is developmental and great that someone is making a conciliatory for tatapalka.
Regards and look forward to further development of the app
