[Q] Problem with Tapatalk Android App, not allowing thread posts, please help! - General Questions and Answers

Im using the Tapatalk app for Android to access, login, and post to XDA. BUT, Im encountering problems. Here's the steps of what happens below.
1. I open Tapatalk
2. Im already logged in to XDA in Tapatalk, so I click on the XDA link in my favorites in Tapatalk.
3. Im able to browse all froums and posts within XDA in the Tapatalk app.
4. I decide I want to post a new thread.
5. I click "Menu>New post"
6. I fill in the subject and thread body text field credentials.
7. I click "Submit"
8. I get and error stating "Error connecting to forums, please contact the forum administrator if this problem persists".
Im also using Tapatalk to access my profile for Imserba Forums, and I've posted plenty of threads on Imserba, but Tapatalk does not let me. Even Imserba's mobile 'touch' site wont let me post because it adds tags to my new thread posts when I try to submit my new post and it reverts me back to the "new post" page and gives me an error message stating that I am not allowed to insert tags other than the ones provided, but I dont even add tags, the system is adding them, i delete the tags from the tags field, and try to re-submit it, and it gives me the same dang error message and deny's my posting! Any ideas or suggestions as to why Im encountering these problems?

[Q] "Searching has been disabled." whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????

"Searching has been disabled." it says to me on this forum....
Why can't I search?? Is this only for my account or is it site wide??????
It's not limited to your user account, it's a site-wide issue. See a few threads further down in this subforum, or in About xda-developers.com.
XDA Admins are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
I just tried the search and it's working for me...
Try it now and see if it works for you.
Still down for me =/ o well I'll just use the dread search bar
To me also it's disabled? Anything to do from my side?
I too am having this issue. It happens every time I click on advanced search or try to view my posts from my profile page. I can still use the thread search feature and the search bar in the xdadevelopers bar though.
Yeah I have tried mutliple browsers and can't search either no matter how I try.
Search Under Maintenance (Please Read)
If you would have checked the time on my post, you would see that I posted that before the announcement was up.
But yes, thank you for being the master of the obvious now.
So are the "search before posting" trolls out of a job?

Forum App issues

Couldn't figure out for sure where to post this. Every time I try logging into the AC app it says connecting to server but doesn't then it tells me user/password incorrect. If I log on from browser or Tapatalk it's fine. Anyone experience this?

This is XDA. :silly:
Why don't you contact their support VIA Email.
I will close this thread, cause again, this is XDA.

[Completed] Error message on editing post

When I try to update a post or post something I keep getting this error that's shown below but when I close whatever browser I'm using I've tried several and they all day the same and then reopen it and go to the thread my changes were made
So what I'm wondering is it on my side or xdas for the error
Now on my computer I just get taken to the blank page

So it doesn't happen when submitting a new thread it seems to be only when I edit a post
Confirmed only when I edit the edit goes thru but I get this error page instead of being taken back to the post as normal, but like I said the edit goes thru
Also if I hit reload just a blank page with XDA on top comes up
The site was having issues, but seems ok at the moment.
Also, a member who's as experienced as yourself should know to read the stickers, like this one that explains the purpose of Assist, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768
Xda Assist is here to help new members navigate the site, that's all. :good:
I'll close this thread now.
Thanks!

Automatic redirect links pop up.

how to download a full thread in any forum for offline reading ?

hi i always have problems in internet because of my traveling, thats why i always download custom roms whenever i get a chance and also it's first page of thread for any info i might need when i install that rom.
but i found that sometimes solutions to problems are found if you read full thread, so i got this idea of why not download a full thread for later use specially if i can in pdf format.
i searched google for it, there are many old questions of this kind but no i couldn't find any solutions.
i found httrack, it looks good but its far too complicated for a user like me, can anyone have a look at httrack and tell me how can i use it on xda?
or if there is any special software for xda which can download whole thread with images please?
any help would be appreciated,
no one?
I am looking for the same answer. I want to be respectful before just posting a question but some threads have 30-80 pages and there is always refer back to some other prior posts so I have not found a good way to catch up on a thread. I have tried reading from the end and going back 3-6 pages but I suspect there is something along the way in pages 20, or 38 or 43 that is relevant. If there is no solution, then newbies end up posting at the end of thread with what others view as lazy and not reading the thread. How in the heck do you download the thread so I can do a faster read?
{Mod edit: Quoted post has been deleted}
no, thats not what i am trying to achieve, i want a full thread to be downloaded, like with all pages it have, so i can read offline all the pages. i can't save as every page if a thread has hundreds of pages. so it's not practical.
but thanks for you input. i would wait for someone who might know a way...
I'm also looking for a solution...

To be honest, I doubt XDA itself will want this kind of function to be availble because it is funded by various ads, ads that can only be seen and only generate funds when actively online.

We'll see what they have to say..
This was the reply I got :

I think what user wants is... getting an XML with all post texts including poster name/info (though it means attachments cannot get) as in when trying to extract all PMs from XDA site as an XML file.
That would be very long and huge size on 2000-10000 paged threads (even with 10 posts per page). But that could be very practical if possible

I understand but unfortunately it's not possible. The best way is to change settings to show 50 posts per page and use Chrome (or similar) to "print" and "save as" pdf :good:

Try loading the page, then right click in the page then choose the "select all" option to highlight all the text on the page, then copy the text, then create a new text file, then paste the copied text in the file, you'll have to do this with each page of the thread.
Or, you can use screen record and scroll through the pages and posts while recording.
