Hello!
I'm having an issue with my GPS. It works perfectly with network available, I can get fix in the building in few sec, however whenever I'm out of range gps starts to act weird, it sees only a few sat and cannot get a fix, sats despair and aper again and again.
What can be causing that?
I'm on CM12 snapshot - YOG7DAO1K6
I was going crazy with similair problems... I changed the radio several times, cleared the cache, cleaned the simcard, cleared data using gps test, but I was never able to get a gps lock. I could see the satellites, but was unable to lock on. Finally I took apart the phone and saw that one of the golden pins (the top left pin in this picture: https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/XcJUO6RrufdomS6m.huge) had been pressed down behind its hole in the plastic lid and was not in contact with the antennas on the back housing. Must have happened when I previously cleaned the camera lense. I carefully bent it back and I now get instant 3d lock in all apps. So if everything else fails have a look at the golden hardware pins....

Today I used the iGo8 GPS for a little bit just to get onto the freeway. The phone tends to go to sleep, and when that happens, it loses it's GPS signal. Since I was already on the freeway, I know my way around so I just let my phone sleep.
When I got home, I realized the bottom part of the screen, where you can scroll through home, people, messages, etc. is messed up. That part of the screen keeps flashing. AND the GPS screen got burnt into the screen, like how things burn into Plasma Screen TVs when you leave it there for a long time. But it's not a completely burn on, it is like a ghost affect.
I have soft resetted my phone. Doesn't work.
Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
Thanks.
I can post pictures/video if it will help.
Have you tried running igo again and closing it down properly?
Yeah, I closed igo properly. It's not just burnt in the igo screen new. It changes. Now it's the Today page. I can see the "Phone" and "Camera" buttons burnt into the lower part of the screen.
ROM Issue?
What ROM are you using? I always use EnergyROM and its a great ROM but it always does the same thing... i thought my phone was ruined the first time i saw this, but when i flashed to another ROM it all went away, im not sure if certain ROMs use different video drivers or what, but my problem atleast seems to just be with the ROM.
Good Luck!
use a all-black or all-white image(i think all black is betteR) and keep it on to try to reduce the burn it...
ohhh. I am using EnergyRom as well. I will change roms and see what's up.
the all black image seems to be a good idea.
I have tried Smart Lock using both an an NFC card and a bluetooth headset. Seems like it works some of the time, but most of the time I still have to enter the PIN code.
Anyone out there get this feature to work consistently?

Smartlock is working well for me with my car bluetooth... very consistent. I don't have any NFC cards to test with so I don't have a comment on that.
So I know we're on the same page - "working well" means that there is no need to type PIN or enter any sort of code to unlock so long as the phone is paired with the bluetooth? Would that also mean if you pushed the power button to lock the phone while it is connected to the bluetooth you could unlock it just by swiping without entering a code?

Yes, we are on the same page. I've used Lollipop in the car a couple dozen times now and once the bluetooth connects, then it is like there is no PIN code on the phone. It doesn't matter if it is charging, running on battery, or if I use the button or the screen turns off on it's own. When I hit the button to light the screen, I only have to swipe up to use the phone (no pin code required).
I've tested it with my pebble and that seems to work just as well... although I removed the pebble after a few hours. If I'm in a restaurant, I don't want whoever is sitting at my table to get into my phone just because I'm looking away (and my watch is right there).
Face unlock... THAT is not quite so consistent!
I have no tags or Bluetooth items to pair with, but I can't get consistent result with face unlock. Everywhere I've read that as unreliable as it was on KitKat, it's x1,000 times better on Lollipop.
I've taken probably about 30 different shots of my face with the Improve recognized face button. Scruffy, clean shaven, different lighting, some closer, some further away, in a winter hat, with my hair before & after I cut it, in a baseball cap, eyes opened and closed, my head turned slightly to the left & right as well as slightly up and down.
I'll take a pic to improve it, lock the phone and it'll work. Then I can set the phone down and let it sleep for a bit. Try to unlock it again and nope, have to enter my pin. Didn't change the lighting at all, the angle of my face to the camera, the distance of the camera to my face, etc.
Very, very inconsistent here.
I'm not concerned so much with people at my table, as people stealing it.
Someone should market a tiny bluetooth device that you can put in your pocked solely for the purpose of Smart Lock. Presumably it could be pretty tiny, as it would have less functionality than a bluetooth headset.

I started using smart lock yesterday with Bluetooth and on body detection on my Note Edge and been getting random notification sounds but don't know what for. It don't even show up on my notification bar. Anyone knows what's going on and what's it sounding off for? It's quite annoying. Other than that notification sound coming up randomly it seems to be working fine for me.
Sent from my SM-N915P using XDA Free mobile app
I have just bought the Xperia M2 (which is a great phone, actually, especially for that price), it immediately updated to KitKat 4.4.4, build 18.3.1.C.0.21. It isn't rooted, plain stock. At most everything seems fine but the compass. It is stuck at around 300 degrees. I tried to calibrate it with the Compass app (make an 8 figure), GPS Status (rotate the phone on its 3 axis) and going into services with *#*#7378423#*#* and then doing another 8 figure (with the phone vertical this time). Nothing, nothing, and nothing again! Compass actually reports that the surrounding magnetic field is too strong (?).
Is it working for anyone else? I would just hate to have to send back the phone. Also because the compass not working is usually a configuration issue, I may just get a new phone with the same exact problem.
I think I've finally found a way to calibrate it. I've put the phone flat on a table after starting the Compass app calibration and I made it spinning like crazy. Obviously I have a back cover that doesn't get scratched, so be careful if you want to try the same.
PS: Mods you can close this if you like.
I have an issue with WiFi on my factory unlocked A9.
When on WiFi and using Flipboard, a lot of times the page will refuse to load with, "No connection, retry". I flick back and try again, and it works. If I turn off WiFi and use data, I never get that. But, about 50% of the time, I will get the "No connection, retry" notice but as soon as I flick back and try again, it works about 90% of the time. Sometimes, it will take 3 or 4 flicks back and forth. BUT, this never happens if I turn WiFi off. My WiFi is my home network and I'm sitting within 10 feet of the router, signal strength is not the issue.
Also, when watching a video that was linked inside Flipboard, my A9 will refuse to play the video in landscape mode, just keeps cycling between the play symbol and the pause symbol. But, if I leave the video in portrait mode, hit play, then after it starts playing turn the phone on its side for landscape, the video will keep playing without a problem. It will not play initially in landscape mode at all.
My A9 is completely stock factory unlocked version with the latest ota updates. Everything else about the phone works fine, with the exception of the above two issues. I get great battery life since the last ota update and am very happy overall with the phone.
Not happy about not being Gorilla Glass 4 and my glass is not flat. When you look at my screen at an angle against a light source, the screen is very wavy, I mean the worst I've ever seen on any of my phones. I do not feel anything so can't tell if this reflection is off the surface or below the surface. My old Galaxy S5 screen doing the exact same thing is flat as could be, no distortion at all but the A9 looks like the image is on acid or something, disconcerting.
Thanks for any help...
Hi guys,
I broke my Flex 2 screen, so I purchased a new digitizer off of ebay and replaced it, following video instructions on youtube. Everything works fine, except GPS doesn't lock in the coordinates any more. It starts, sees satellites, but never locks in position. I rechecked all connectors, everything seems fine. Do you by chance have an idea where it might've gone wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
