[[IMPORTANT]] ONE-CLICK auto-order from S-health on the watch - Samsung Gear S2

Guys, you are not going to believe this.
I was having dinner when I received a confirmation email from Amazon, confirming I just ordered "Samsung Gear Fit Smart Watch, Black (US WARRANTY)"
I was with my wife in a restaurant. Only us have access to the account, and I don't autosync passwords with chrome for amazon (I removed saving the password and changed the Amazon one for christmas). So no, it was obviously not us who ordered it.
Then I recalled, just before stepping in the restaurant, I received a watch notification with a nice animation from S-health, saying "You reached your goal!" type of stuff, with a fancy boot drawn. This is new and is part of the new software update that was pushed recently. I think I might have tapped it before dismissing, or like, "what is this" type of tap, trying to interact with it.
I tell my wife, "no f*** way, I was busy eating, cannot have been me". I cancelled it right away on the phone itself.
At home, I opened a support chat with Amazon. Explained situation. I asked guy if he was able to track back if the device was known, if it was my phone. I was really suspicious. Lately I was seeing a lot of S-health notifications on the watch, this seemed too much of a coincidence.

Guys, I still don't quite believe it either. I never, ever looked at that. I didn't even know it existed. Does somebody have an alternative explanation, other than the obvious one?
Edit: Phone is Galaxy S6 5.1.1 very seriously debloated, only maintaining Samsung software for exclusively the Gear s2 watch, which I also own.

No idea what this has to do with your Gear or S-health. Guy says it was ordered with the one click method. Doesn't mean its from your phone or watch. Could be any browser with your info logged in.

WELP, This is the right reaction. Holy ****, I'd say the same, It is quite impossible that samsung move to do shady stuff like this. I am skeptical too, but I would never order something I literally don't know it even exists (I didn't know samsung had a fitness band), and even less with one-click from amazon. Additionally there were no other accesses from any other unknown devices on the account for more than 30+ days. The only ones who had access to the account were both present, and we know for a fact that we didn't order.
I posted to know if there is other people who has gone through something similar. I think I heard of applications that were doing this in the past, insta-buying stuff from amazon, but I would never expect anything like that from Samsung.
I'd like you please to consider, I'm not the stereotype of dumb normal user who just click all over the place and then blames.

The most likely explanation is that you or your wife accidentally ordered it. You said you didn't know one-click existed, so it's possible you clicked on it without realizing. Also purchase notifications often don't show up for hours after purchase, so the fact you were "both present" doesn't prove anything. Another possible explanation is that someone has your amazon password and is ordering stuff on your account. You may want to check your order history to make sure nothing else has been ordered without your knowing.

Eliminate the Gear from the equation as it's nothing but a conduit to the apps on your phone. So you're saying someone/something hijacked your S Health app to trick you in to ordering something on Amazon. You didn't say what was being ordered was being shipped to a third party address so I'm assuming it was being sent to you. So who's to gain from what you described? It sounds like something odd caused you to inadvertently order something from Amazon. The breach in Android and app security you're describing would be front page news if it existed.

TIP: Review your wireless bill

I'm not sure if this has been discussed (if it has and it's been buried, it's probably about time we discuss this again).
I'm looking around the AT&T bloatware (which I'm hoping to remove soon) and touched the Where (W) app. The Terms of Service (TOS) pops up. Some of us will just touch OK right away. Some of us will read. On my first Cap, I just touched OK and quickly saw what Where was about. Didn't like it. Never used it again. I returned my device due to GPS and Power issues and got my replacement Cap. I launched Where again while playing around and this time I read the TOS. In red, it says that if I continue to use this service and if I don't cancel within 7 days, I will be charged $2.99 per month. It also gives me a website to review all of my mobile app subscriptions. I checked out the site and found 3 subscriptions of $2.99, $2.99 and $4.99 per month that I have been paying. I don't remember at all how they got there. They were services I have never even heard of which I don't use.
Review your bill! On AT&T online billing, click "View Full Bill". Scroll to the bottom of the page under "Mobile Purchases & Downloads". See if you've been subscribed to something you didn't even know about.
Addendum: Call or Chat with an agent and have them install their Free "Subscription Block" to your account. It prevents any fee-based monthly services from automatically activating without your knowledge. You will be given a code when AT&T puts this block in effect. When you decide to download an App that requires a purchase or sign up with a fee-based service, you can then use that code to make the purchase.
My bill day is 8/21 and here it is 5 days later... i still can't view the actual charges online. wish i could
I think it's to be expected by now to be charged a monthly fee if you plan on using any of AT&T's bloatware. Personally, I refuse to even open any of their programs for fear of having random charges on my bill. Just avoid them until you get them uninstalled.
From a business perspective it makes absolute sense why they do this. The general population has no idea of the free alternatives. These same people won't notice or care to check out their monthly bill's when an extra 2.99 is tacked on every month. I bet AT&T makes a killing off this stuff.
I agree, when I sold phones they offered a ton of free stuff, as in free for one month and then you started getting charged a couple bucks.
I was nice enough to tell the people to call and cancel the services if they didn't want them but most reps didn't even mention it.

You're probably fine then. I guess if you haven't (knowingly or unknowingly) made an online purchase or download, then maybe it doesn't show up. You're probably ok.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I did click on the Where app once though, so I was curious. Hopefully nothing went through. That last part about the confirmation code to prevent auto subs though is a good idea.

When did you launch the Where app? It probably won't show until a few days later. If you have successfully launched it it's guaranteed that you will be charged $2.99 per month if you don't have the purchase block feature and if you haven't canceled within the 7 days grace period. Just look out for it in a few days.
This was a couple weeks ago. I think it was even before I got my monthly bill. Hopefully I'm set and don't have to worry about it.
Also, I tried the last part in your original post about talking to a live rep and having someone put that auto-subscription block on the account.. the rep never even heard of it and directed me to call customer service instead.

Thanks for the heads up. I found 2 charges on my bill for them called att up and had them cancel it as I couldn't find where on my account I could cancel them. I also added the block to my line as I already had it on my daughters line.
Funny thing is that I work for verizonwireless and know all about this and see it every day but I fell victim to it. They credited me back for the charges which I wasn't expecting at all.

Call your agent and ask about the Mobile Purchases and Downloads. They should know about this. Not all agents know, as we have read so far. But mine was able to refund and put a block. I had I'm a happy camper!

URGENT: How do I remove custom Rom on Infuse 4G?

Hi all,
Long story short, I was tricked today to buy an infuse 4G telling me that everything was working perfectly. Had it shipped, and of course, it doesn't read any SIM card. I'm brand new to android, so I have no idea what's going on.
I tried calling AT&T customer support and of course they couldn't help. I finally found out that the build version is Infused v2.1.0 and the firmware is 2.3.3
I just read that Infused v.2.1.0 is a custom rom, so I'm wondering how I can go back to the stock version and see if I can get a SIM card to be read in this phone.
PLEASE if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Can someone take a look in the SIM tray and tell me how many pins there are? My BlackBerry has 4, and from the looks of it, it looks like this infuse has 3, but 1 of the pins is missing.
I wish I could take a clear picture of it, but it's near impossible to see. Can anyone with an infuse confirm what theirs looks like?

They should be 6;(3 in front of another 3; Meaning: 3 slightly visible from the metal, and 3 under the metal cover that holds the SIM card on place)
If you bought it via ebay or for that matter anything with Paypal in the middle, you have 45 days from the purchase day to enter a dispute. If you pay cash to a guy you will never see... then your probably screwed... i have heard of "sim" adapters like this:

that could "probably" fix that.... or probably not since the adapter also needs the full working pins.... anyways... i recommend (if payed via paypal) to enter a dispute provide full information and make sure the add didnt mentioned anything about " NOT WORKING Sim tray" because if the advertisement of the phone just SLIGHTLY mentioned its your problem... but if it was advertised as WORKING then your complain will proceed.

Since you paid cash you don't have much in the way of recourse since you know about the guy, I assume.
You could pursue via small claims, check the local authorities, maybe this person is a known thief; but, I would let this be a lesson on verifying that something is fully functional before paying someone cash for anything. Sorry, I know it sucks. =-(

I've been hosed from a dude who sold me an atv that was a pile of shiz, so I know how you feel. Id contact him and see what he'll do for you, I'm sure he will tell you it was fine when he sold it, than id talk to the authorities, if all else fail than id have it repaired from samsung.

In your first post, you said you had it shipped. Then, in another post, you said you met up locally and paid cash. So which was it?
Either way, hopefully you didn't pay too terribly much for the phone, since you can generally find it brand new for under $100.
The only real chance you have at a remedy here is to call the seller back and hope he has a heart, or that this was just some misunderstanding.
In our credit driven economy, I always find it suspicious when people demand cash. I'm sure you learned your lesson, and hopefully it wasn't too costly.

Well I have my iphone imei on file, so could very well just report it as stolen since this guy is unwilling to comply. Don't really have many options.
Sorry if this is off, because I dont know if u can install a rom if the phone is locked. But if the phone is locked it will not read a sim card. And depending on the sim card itself. It will not read any prr paid sim except tmobile and only att if it is not a gophone sim card

Buying from a Retail store in China, what do I need to know?

Will be buying from a Chinese store when I go to China, what do I need to know first?
ie;
How would I get Google Play Store, I read somewhere HiStore (Huawei's app store has a download for it)?
How would I remove bloat?
When the international version is released would it be worthwhile "installing" the international OS version onto the phone?
What else have I missed that I should know or will need to do?

You can get the Google Play app from HiStore, just search for google.. Most of the bloat can be uninstalled or disabled.. Hopefully the N/A or International rom can be installed to overwrite some of the system apps..

will be more if you are not local and can't communicate in their language
if you have friends / anyone who can help locally in China, suggest to buy from huawei official online retail store (Vmall).
with official price and official receipts which provides you the rights on claiming 100% refund within 15 days from you received the device.
Just, you need a local address in china for delivery, and scheduled shipment is within 15 days after payment.....
All ver Mate 8 is open for sale in vmall today with 3 session

Also with the bloat. I've heard GPS has apps for (rooted devices) removing bloat, do you have any recommendations?
Chinese not Korean but regardless when you say hopefully does this mean it may not be possible? What would lead you to believe it wont be possible?

You really need someone or a friend here in China to help to get the phone and then ship it to you. I bought mine from Huawei online shopping mall the Vmall but it took two attemps before I managed to get one as it only open for sale on certain days and times and usually sold out in minutes. It will cost little bit more from retail store.

well root gives u full functionality with titanium backup and that in turn gives u low level direct access to ALL apps and processes installed on your phone. even bloatware signed as system apps that cant normally be removed can be deleted then via titanium backup u should check it out, that app has tons of features and functions aside from just backups

It's brillent - going from a one plus to this - it is so fast.
I had a bit of a wobble about contact sync and calender sync
At first they don't work
Then I found a thread in here saying you needed to
hard reset your phone
install the calendar sync and contact sync from the chinese market
Change the permissions giving the sync app the correct perms
Then reboot the phone again.
I have spent 3 hours installing and setting up the apps so a hard reset was not appealing
So I installed a 3rd party contact tool - which syncd the contacts but to a different db
I decided it was permissions
Played with then for a bit - nothing worked
Until I looked at the reset thread again
The line about - Then restart you phone caught my eye....
So I reset the permissions again restarted the phone and contacts sync
The only other problem Ive had is the default home location in the calendar is china (you can change it)
The uk dictionary is a little sparse too

I want to start off by saying this will be my first android phone so my comments may seem a bit stupid to you, but please be patient, I try my best.
Now lets go through your comment so I can help understand some more about this.

What are these two things and why would I need them?

This will be one of the first things I do, I'll probably check it out before I even get the phone!

Living in China for many years now, the first thing I will tell you about buying from an online store is DON'T DO IT...unless you somehow consider it to be very reputable and/or it has excellent word of mouth from people you trust. Even then I would be cautious, although official Huawei store should be no problem. Generally speaking though, even the Chinese themselves are commonly weary about various online purchasing. (For that matter, they're often worried about buying common household items online from the biggest e-retailers here for fear that they may be fake.) I read a report a few months back that some ridiculous percentage (i.e., vast vast majority) of mobile phones sold online in China are counterfeit using counterfeit components. So I would tend to agree that the best method is to have a friend in China buy it for you through an official channel or highly trusted brick and mortar store (i.e., a place they can go to for recourse) and just have them ship it to you (although I just re-read and realized that you said you were planning to come to China, so that would solve the need to re-ship). Note, that in typical Chinese fashion, if you buy from an actual store (still, one you trust), you should be able to negotiate. I did. And even if they don't want to give much up on price then you can ask them what gifts they will include. For me, they offered to throw in some gifts, which added up, probably retailed for about RMB200-300. Since I didn't want the gifts though, I told them that and asked again to just take some money off, so they ultimately agreed. When all was said and done, I was rather happy with the price I got (given it was from such a well-known reputable place) and think it was even significantly less than the price I saw on some of the big name e-retailers here (e.g., Amazon China, JD.com, etc.). So remember (and your contact probably knows this if he/she lives here or is a local), shops here expect to negotiate, or at least be asked. If they offer gifts, try telling them to just keep the gifts and reduce they price, but even if they ultimately refuse, oftentimes the gifts are okay too. Even if they will only give gifts, you may be able to negotiate about which gifts too.

Even after they broke open the package with me, made sure it worked, showed me the on-phone system stats and components (i.e., "About the phone") and the warranty info--taking the phone's details to activate warranty from their end--I probably even again asked if the phone was real. By then I was already confident it was (and it was already bought and paid for anyway), but you just get so used to the belt-and-suspenders approach to things here that I couldn't help myself. Not to stereotype an entire country, but it's a land filled with scammers, liars and cheaters, so you absolutely must do what you can to protect yourself, and even then, something might still happen that wasn't anticipated. Anyway, not to get too deep into any cultural statements here and to bring it back to the original question, just err on the side of caution.
About the rooting and Titanium, I would agree with this (Titanium Pro has much more functionality than just backing up, although it does an excellent job of that too), except that there's recently been some questions about rooting the Mate 8, which I've been digging deeper into as well (I consider rooting to be essential, but this is a completely personal opinion). As it turns out, Huawei locks the bootloader of its phones, and you must actually contact Huawei either via email or by going onto their Huawei Club website and setting up a free account, then under the Downloads tab, apply for a bootloader unlock key with your phone's specific information. I'm just going through this process myself now, which I've been discussing with some others on one of the other Mate 8 forums (the "FAQs" forum). Once this bootloader unlock key is provided, then presumably it should be possible to root (e.g., through standard rooting methods), but I have yet to see anyone say they've actually gone through this process successfully with the Mate 8 yet (but am eagerly awaiting it, and seems to be a proven process with prior models). Of course, if there is some other proven/confirmed way to root the Mate 8, I and I'm sure many others would love to hear about it.

About the rooting and Titanium, I would agree with this (Titanium Pro has much more functionality than just backing up, although it does an excellent job of that too), except that there's recently been some questions about rooting the Mate 8, which I've been digging deeper into as well (I consider rooting to be essential, but this is a completely personal opinion). As it turns out, Huawei locks the bootloader of its phones, and you must actually contact Huawei either via email or by going onto their Huawei Club website and setting up a free account, then under the Downloads tab, apply for a bootloader unlock key with your phone's specific information. I'm just going through this process myself now, which I've been discussing with some others on one of the other Mate 8 forums (the "FAQs" forum). Once this bootloader unlock key is provided, then presumably it should be possible to root (e.g., through standard rooting methods), but I have yet to see anyone say they've actually gone through this process successfully with the Mate 8 yet (but am eagerly awaiting it, and seems to be a proven process with prior models). Of course, if there is some other proven/confirmed way to root the Mate 8, I and I'm sure many others would love to hear about it.

I didn't realise about being able to negotiate with the stores but I will see what they can do for me. Hope they can do something good, fingers crossed.
I am probably going to get the phone through the official huawei online store or retail store, which ever is easiest at the time, so fingers crossed I don't fall into the trap of getting a fake, ill do my best to make sure its real. Which is often hard I know, these damn scammers are getting bloody good.
I was under the impression all huawei phones needed that key to be requested and such, do you know what email you send it to and what kind of thing you would include in the message, also does english work or must it be in Chinese. I am hoping for root as I know it will be great to remove bloat and even flash the international ROM when that is released.

I personally haven't seen a physical Huawei store location here, but maybe I just haven't been looking. If there is one though I wouldn't expect to be able to negotiate there...more so at third party retailers (again though, choose a reputable one if going down that route). I don't think it's necessary to MUST buy directly from Huawei if you're actually coming to China yourself and can shop around to get a feel for things, but ultimately if you are most comfortable going direct through Huawei, I won't fault you for that. I did notice that Huawei doesn't even show the Mate 8 on its online store right now...strange, but probably due to availability I imagine.

Samsung and subsequent Pre-order VR

A few multiple small details/questions.
First, did any of you pre-order and then go to register for the free (or paid) VR set and send a picture of a receipt only to get an email saying the date was too late? (Total mistake on my part of course, I thought they would grab all the info they needed from the barcodes on the receipt, didn't realize that they were taking into account the "order" date vs. the date I went in store to pre-order) I got an email back the next day saying I had one chance to re-submit with the correct info, and that's what I did. (This all happened on the 21st when I got the phone, and resubmitting on the 22nd). Anyways, now it says my registration is approved but it says that my review is still in progress, almost 2 weeks later. I'm just wondering if anybody made the same mistake and is in the same boat and if you got a response saying your review has been approved.
Secondly, pure confusion by me on this part... I can log into my Samsung account on the phone and also in the Samsung Shop app, but when I go to the Samsung website it doesn't allow me to log in. (I've reset my password and I've tried it on the Galaxy Chrome and Samsung Internet as well as Chrome on my laptop) I'm not sure if the samsung website account differs from the mobile or not, but I would like the ability to check/look at my pre-order progress on the web as well.
(Sorry, I know these seem more like Samsung questions but the pre-order thing is really bothering me and I'd like to know if anyone was in the same boat)
I'm in the same boat actually and the same situations with the rejection and resubmission. Mine still says accepted but not shipped. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

Infomation Frp Bypass, Google Pixel 32gb 7.1.2 through remote service...

I recently received a second hand Google Pixel. It was running selfish N2G470 Sailfish 7.1.2. Upon further inspection I realized it was also OEM from Google. Once I purchased a Type-C charger to see if the phone even worked, I quickly realized it had the FRP locking activated and no way into the phone.. After days of Dead End video's, Out Dated Guides, and pointless APK files, I continued searching for a solution. A few days later, while shopping on EBay, I ran across a remote FRP service that said they would remote in using Team Viewer and have it completed within 1 hour after making initial contact with me after the purchase. I was skeptal. But the money was protected through PayPal and it was only $10.00. Soon after, I am contacted, remotely assisted, and step by step guide on the pixel itself and 15 min later, through the FRP Lock. I should have taken better instructions when he was telling me over video chat but, he left the version of platform tools on my pc, as well as his custom apk files and image's (it updated to 8.0 after frp bybass) Anyone interested in the files he left behind on my computer that he download from his server let me know. He used fastboot and adb. Let me know. If you know what your doing, it might help. I can kinda help guide you through the steps on the phone, my girl took a few notes on paper as well. I wanted to get this info out now, but I will come back soon with an updated tutorial. :good:

Where does one receive a second hand Pixel? If it was a hand-me-down couldn't you just ask the user to log in and remove their account from the device? Even if you bought it from a stranger they could have given you their Google password and then immediately changed it after you removed the account yourself. And just for curiosity, how much does a second hand Pixel cost?
it would probably help some people, yes.
If you post them, perhaps try posting them to a few different file sharing places; ie MEGA, rapidshare, etc so they can be shared for a while without being taken down.

im on pixel 32gb, sailfish 7.1.2 with 5th august 2017 patch, im unable to side load or get past anything with the guides on here or online, either due to bad apks or just wrong instructions, keep hitting brick walls and the guides and videos are little to no help, if u would please share these files, it would be great help , if u cant post a link, could u pm me plz ? thanks a ton!!!

Well, the phone was givin to me by an old boss that could no longer afford to pay my hourly, under the table wage. I'm not sure where he received it from. Second hand cost? Well he owed me 75 bucks for a few hours of unloading & loading box trucks, so $75 bucks I guess...

You're joking right? An old boss.. under the table.. not sure where it came from.. 75 bucks.. come on.. this is a 700 dollar phone. Where did it really come from? You should know before you use it. Otherwise throw it out. It's not worth the bad karma. Just my opinion.

Still not worth it. Do you think it's legit? Honestly. Throw it out. You'll feel a whole lot better in the long run. Anyone that needs to frp bypass is asking for trouble in the scheme of things.. but that's just me and my silly moral values. Take it for what it's worth. Good luck to you.

Doesn't matter if you sold the phone. Anything under the table is implied as is. No amount of money is worth your own person security. You should never under any circumstance tell anyone any of your passwords ever for any reason whatsoever
Edit: the right thing to do of course would be to remove accounts before frp or to be on-site when they set up their phone but not everyone even knows about frp and even less of the general public will know how to actually remove accounts

Under the table? What exactly does that mean? Illegal? You either delete your emails and change your pwd or pay the price. Let's not get crazy here. It's just an email password for perhaps 2 minutes to make some money that is "under the table". If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

No I'm not saying illegal I'm saying any direct transaction from one person to another like anything not done through an actual retailer. And no you really shouldn't be giving out passwords at all for any reason. Having that information for 2 minutes can create a window for someone to figure out your typical password structure or cross reference a fair bit of information that could lead to access to a lot more than what was intended. Again I'm not saying that not properly wiping the device so someone else can use it is okay, but I am saying it is not the responsibility of the seller to give you any passwords or personally identifiable information. It is also the responsibility of the buyer to know and ask about potential frp situations or at least understand the implied "as is" condition when buying really anything directly off of someone else.
You make a good point. Although I still think the seller has the responsibility to sell the device so it can be used by the buyer. That seems to be implied by selling it. Almost like I'm selling you my car but.. well sorry dude .. you can't have the keys. Not my problem but yours since the car is in your driveway.
Well selling a car is kinda different and has actual legal restrictions to prevent that such as title transfers etc
