Nope did not loose my custom recovery. Its very clean and appears to be stable.
P.S. I flashed all 3 with TWRP in order
1) ROM
2) GAPPS
3) SU
After a full wipe of course...
My Nexus 7 isn't here yet, but this is incredible. I'm coming from a Droid Charge and HTC Rezound-- I won't even know what to do, its almost confusing to have choice.
You beat me to the punch I just compiled 4.1.1 r3 late yesterday. Thank you from a fellow purist.

Great job man,downloading now .
I'm confused, how is this any different from the official 4.1.1 OTA update? What does Google add or change from source other than the Google Apps?

AOSP roms if they are the latest build include the newest fixes and updates straight from Google. Also true AOSP roms do not include gapps. Gapps are not open source like Android. That's why they are flashed separately

there is also no Nexus boot animations just the old fashioned ANDROID bootscreen
You will not lose your custom recovery, as i removed the stock recovery from this rom. Glad you guys like it.

That's weird. I thought nexus 7 was supposed to be stock AOSP Jellybean.
Lucky people with the device. I'm still waiting on mine to ship. 16gb version.
how is this rom running? really smooth and fast? im planning to flash this tomorrow..sounds very appealing to me. pure aosp should mean fast.
Running great for me.
great rom...really smooth and fast.
is it possible to lower the nav bar like how it is in jr5? i think it looks better that way lol.

This is a pure AOSP Rom, and I'm gonna keep it as such unfortunately. However if you wanna rip this Rom apart and edit the nav bar to whatever specs you desire go right ahead, that's why I uploaded this so we can have a stock base Rom to do with as we please.
So given that this aosp does the op know what main differences are between it and the jb that comes with the n7?

Well, I didn't try to download the rom, since I can build this just fine at home (and do).
But I did try and grab your gapps, since I was having a hard time finding a gapps package that mirrored my original factory gapps.
But I figured I would let you know your dropbox has been suspended for large activity. Maybe you know, but since it isn't in the OP...
Edit: And if you are selecting option 4 in lunch (userdebug) then root access is included. Are you building 'user'?
Edit2: Looked at the fixed link. eng has root too. So they're gonna be rooted, whether the flash the su or not. Although most builds just go for the userdebug. eng just adds more logging services, FAIK.
I'm interested in getting the stock rom (the zip like paranoidandroid) but I can't seem to find where to get it. I'm wanting to create a custom ROM with it, but that's not going to work without the zip.
Hi,

[ROM] [KOT49H] Pure Stock // Odex + Deodex // UNTOUCHED .

Your question doesn't make sense.
AOSP is AOSP
Stock is Stock
Stock is not AOSP
AOSP is not Stock
Paranoid Android is not Pure AOSP.
What EXACTLY do you want?

Ouch, I see where I went wrong with that question.
When you download Paranoid Android, you get a .zip file that you can flash to your device.
I'm wanting to create a new ROM off of the stock Hammerhead ROM. How would I get a zip file that contains the files, like paranoid android or cyanogenmod. Hopefully this question is easier to understand.

Oh I see. There's not much that can be edited in a stock ROM easily. As mentioned, compiling from source gives the most customisation.
I believe most stock ROMs are edited in DSI XDA kitchen from a Nandroid backup.

I'm afraid I'm only building for Hammerhead. Down the line, when I get a spare PC, I'll get the actual source.

youre not building at all, lol. youre trying to get a base rom then edit it to become a different rom with different features. you cant do that, you need to build it how you want it.
Since Oxygen is out for Oneplus one is anyone porting this soon to our phone? It has built in DT2W and other gestures
Gestures are done with the kernel, not the ROM.
Porting the ROM as a whole is ultimately pointless - just use any custom ROM, which probably has all the features + more anyways.

But i think it would be nice to have both OxOS and Cm12S to our phones. Im sure both will be ported soon even know one is based off of 5.0.2

Elluel said:
First of all, porting firmware from one device to another is extremely unlikely to function properly. If you can even get it to boot (the hardest part), a LOT will be broken as it was not built relevant to the hardware. Porting a custom ROM is even more pointless when it can be built specifically for your device.
OxygenOS has not been released yet, but it's likely to have features that other custom ROMs already have/can easily replicate.
Porting "CM12S" from the OnePlus One to the Nexus 5 is ultimately pointless. CM12 can be built from source anyways, then you can just take the few additional extra apk files from CM12S and paste them in.

its an old thread, was reading about this as opo 2 is coming out, from what i read if that its not open sourced and there is a small team doing the build, the kernel will be open, i wonder how they will manage without the community
I've always asked to me this thing, because I don't want to install a AOSP ROM, I prefer to stay stock and flash some mods and kernels. It is not possible?
In the case of AOSP roms, the camera has the same quality as the Google's stock roms?
Maybe you can try PureNexus, it's so stable and even faster than stock. Same camera quality as stock, even whole UI is same as stock, just some additional features.
BTW you can also flash kernel on stock rom.

The camera quality is the same as stock. It looks the same as stock, performs better, and you lose zero features. Why are you looking for a stock-based ROM then, is the question?

I don't really get what you mean. With Samsung you lose a lot of features going from TouchWiz to AOSP. You don't lose any features going from the stock Pixel OS to say PureNexus. It looks the same, has the same features and more, better performance, etc.

Dude, just root it, enjoy stock if you want and flash a custom kernel. If you decide to venture out, give PN a try.. It is exactly what you're looking for, just an AOSP rom. There is barely any difference between a stock google rom and AOSP.. no one is going to build a stock google rom, it's a waste of time
If you have an unlocked bootloader, but completely stock ROM does Android Pay work along with OTA updates, or just OTA updates ?

ah darn ok. Right now I'm just running stock, custom kernel, and SuperSU. I'm not sure if it is just getting older or what, but I haven't felt the need to beyond this with the phone I just got. My Nexuses all are customized, but this is just pretty basic.
The benefit I suppose is even with root and a custom kernel the ROM is still pretty reliable. Other custom ROMs in the past usually would have things come up from time to time. Nonetheless, I'm always thankful for the work the devs do:good:

I have to agree. Never had a single issue, great battery and smooth as butter.
Yeah I've had stock lock up for me once. Been running PN since January and it's more stable then stock.
Why no one is building of stock ROM no idea. WETA was based on stock, but he stopped development when all the AOSP ROMs came out.

Hi guys
I'm still with the original oneplus rom but I had enough with that Android 12 ****...
I haven't even rooted my device but im down for everything to make my phone great again!
Last time i was into roms and kernels was 8 years ago with my galaxy 4, i guess nothing changes much?
I would realy appreciate any recommendations for the best stable room that works flawlessly, and a kernel if you'd recommend, too please
Any other root/recovery recommendations will be much appreciated

I have tried Project Zephyrus, evolution x, nameless, and Corvus on my 8t so far. Depends on exactly what you're looking for I guess. Project zephyrus, and nameless, are both very stable. Nameless has a little bit more customization than zephyrus. Evolution x has quite a bit of customization and the battery backup isn't terrible. Project Zephyrus gave me the best battery out of all the ROMs I've tried though. Corvus I believe is no longer maintained on our device. I'm tried that ROM, and It wasn't the greatest for this device anyway. I'm currently running evolution x and is doing me justice. It has OTA support. Nameless does as well. Project Zephyrus is working on it. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, but just enough I would go with nameless. Honestly though better to test them all out yourself, these are just my personal opinion.
I forgot about Derpfest. One of my favorites as well. Pretty sure the Dev discontinued development though the last I knew. For our device, the maintainer/developer started his own ROM, but he's's talking about still doing derp builds now instead, until he finishes his newest project. PM me if you would like his telegram channel to join

It still gets updates, and the kernel that comes with it is already great, so I don't flash any other custom ones. I just extract the recovery.img from the payload.bin in the ROM zip using payload dumper. Once you have that, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, boot to recovery, adb sideload the ROM zip then format data and boot to system. If you want root, sideload magisk.zip, or patch the boot.img with magisk apk then flash the patched boot.img

It can be the main gallery. The spoofing gives you unlimited pics and video cloud storage instead of just 10gb by spoofing your phone as a Google pixel 6. Nameless and Evo x have oos cam and gallery right now. Don't remember if zephyrus does, but I'm pretty sure it did
