Dear at all,
I have a little question,
I have a HTC A9 from Germany (europeans version) 16gb and 2gb RAM.
I have read that I need to be S-Off to use the xposed framework.
The SunShine app is the only way to get S-Off?
If I'm on S-Off I should do a backup, but how I can save the imei or do a full backup?
Still I'm S-On with root.
Thanks Dan

Yes I'm near positive that sunshine is the only possible way of obtaining s-off with this device... as for a backup, there is a way to make a full nandroid backup from your computer, but the methods slip from my mind at this moment... try to look it up on YouTube or Google, they can prove to be very helpful

XTC clip cannot root, XTC clip makes your phone S-OFF, you can after that downgrade the phone and root it!
check this example in the Wildfire forum:

Hello raskal, please tell me what should i do to make fastboot flash command working.
I unlocked my desire by XTC, security is off CID is Supercid, but fastboot flash is not working. i cant flash recovery.
Itried to do this by putting PB99IMG.zip on sd, and flash over recovery, and fastboot flash recovery ....... and both of the doesn`t work.
I can also confirm it works, i have had mine done and very chuffed!
A CoreDroidMoD rom is on its way
P.S
You can root it with GingerBreak after S-OFF
is there any other way to make it S-Off apart from the Xtc clip? or is there anywhere you can get it done, instead of buying a Xtc clip?
Xtc it's the only way currently, people Are working on a software method....
Some people offer a mail order xtc service, where you send your phoner to them, they s-off it and then post your phone back, should be about quarter th the pricE of buyinG xtc online
you'll need to find an unlocking shop that does this in your country

Some questions about the clip itself:
Are there more types of clips? if you buy one will it certainly give you s-off ?
If you buy one, will it work for future model phones (then it might be worth the money)
If you buy one and get s-off, is there allready the certainty of getting root?
Thanks

noone can accuratly say whether it will work on future models.

As ben_pyett already said it's the only way right now - unfortunately as I see it they (HTC) do the same with all the new ones coming out...
If I'll have time - something I'm always lack of - I'll make up a proper rooting guide with pictures.
In the meantime if somebody needs S-OFF just send me a PM.

is there really a way to s-off without xtc clip?
my girlfriend has one and i s-offed it with my xtc clip, which works 100%. really good for all those people who have no idea about adb, shell and so on
if there would be an easier way than buying a device, more people would care about the chacha and there would be more custom roms...and yes the htc needs a custom rom, because without A2SD the device criples itself with the build 100mb for software...

I'll update my guide when alpharev/HTC will unlock it.

Why would you want to go from S-OFF to S-ON? Unless you're returning for warranty purposes?
The idea for going to s-off is to get your root rights just fine. I'm a system administrator and i want to use my phone at full capacity.
Hi there!
I have a HTC Wildfire S with S-Off and it is very easy to root it and install custom recovery.
I also have a HTC Desire S with S-Off but with HBOOT 2.02.002. there is any methods to root it and install custom recovery?
P.S. Both phones are xtc-clip s-off.
Thanks a lot!

The method has been shared and posted so many times that I would suggest you simply read the stickies and the indexes and use the search function as well.
Maybe I am ignorant...but I couldn't find a method to root my phone.. could be the hboot 2.02.002 the cause?
And anyway.. I belive that this is a helping forum.. or not?

Actually XDA is a Developers forum - that was the key purpose for its creation. Yes, you can come here and ask for help; but I am suggesting that you read the information that is freely available so that you understand what you are doing and why - and how to get out of any problems you might encounter.

HI all,
I am sorry if this question may have been asked before but I have followed the instruction on [S-Off] Facepalm S-Off for HTC Devices One S, One XL, Droid DNA
but I still can not get the S-OFF.
I use the toolkit : [ROOT] HTC One X AT&T 2.20 Firmware - X-Factor root exploit
I believe my phone is rooted but I can not get the S-OFF. in the bootloader it said "Temppered" unlocked but the S-on
Can I please get some direction on what I did wrong?
Cheers
I want to flash either the telstra stock or the Clean rom I beleieve. I am not sure which one to try but I want the one with the closest to the stock but the optimised version of the stock.
Thanks
Arda
"Tampered' means you are rooted. That is a good thing.
What step of the S-off process are you stuck on? Any error messages?
Did you confirm you have SuperCID?

Cheers for the reply.
The steps which failed was when I had to confirm the restore. This is on the process getting the superCID.
I accepted the restore but on the screen on the phone the restore said "restore starting" and then few seconds later it said "restore end" as if restore does not get completed.

Ha, I called that one! The use of "cheers" had me thinking you were not an American. Its the dual core version of the One X/XL right?
X-factor only works for the AT&T version. X-factor is failing to change the CID because (I think) its looking for the AT&T CID (CWS_001) and not finding it.
I think you have to change the CID the "manual" way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671396
Instead of CWS_001, of course you will be looking for your carrier's ID (whatever that is).

got the S-OFF displayed now and CID 11111111
so if I want to flash firmware (closest to stock), which tutorial should I follow?
any recommendation for :
1. ICS version which is very stable?
2. JB which is very stable?
I am using my phoen for internet browsing, skype, WhatsUp and also emailing most of the time.
Any recommendation is greatly appreciated

At this point pretty much every Rom is stable. I don't think there are any ics roms in active development anymore. If you like close to stock go look at the roms in the android development section. They are mostly all sense based and each brings its own tweaks to the table

Don't muck around with firmware... HBoot versions etc. don't matter much once you have s-off.
If you like sense roms, Cleanrom is great (very close to stock) or ViperXL (much more customisable). You'll find both these in the Android Development thread. For a more native Android experience I'm loving Liquid Smooth, available in Android Original Development.
Good luck!

there is no reason to s-off any htc device. You can flash custom recovery, superuser.zip, roms and customise your phone the way you want with s-on. I would recommend keeping s-on because it prevents you from messing up with your radios, hboot etc.
in simple words a device with s-on will never be hard bricked. You can always recover your htc from its bootloader interface. Thats one of the reasons why i like htc
