HI all,
I am sorry if this question may have been asked before but I have followed the instruction on [S-Off] Facepalm S-Off for HTC Devices One S, One XL, Droid DNA
but I still can not get the S-OFF.
I use the toolkit : [ROOT] HTC One X AT&T 2.20 Firmware - X-Factor root exploit
I believe my phone is rooted but I can not get the S-OFF. in the bootloader it said "Temppered" unlocked but the S-on
Can I please get some direction on what I did wrong?
Cheers
I want to flash either the telstra stock or the Clean rom I beleieve. I am not sure which one to try but I want the one with the closest to the stock but the optimised version of the stock.
Thanks
Arda
"Tampered' means you are rooted. That is a good thing.
What step of the S-off process are you stuck on? Any error messages?
Did you confirm you have SuperCID?

Cheers for the reply.
The steps which failed was when I had to confirm the restore. This is on the process getting the superCID.
I accepted the restore but on the screen on the phone the restore said "restore starting" and then few seconds later it said "restore end" as if restore does not get completed.

Do you actually have an AT&T version of the One X, or another carrier?
I have got the hongkong HTC ONE X LTE.

Ha, I called that one! The use of "cheers" had me thinking you were not an American. Its the dual core version of the One X/XL right?
X-factor only works for the AT&T version. X-factor is failing to change the CID because (I think) its looking for the AT&T CID (CWS_001) and not finding it.
I think you have to change the CID the "manual" way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671396
Instead of CWS_001, of course you will be looking for your carrier's ID (whatever that is).
Yes I am in from the land of down under
So do I just follow exactly what that guide is?
Do I need to have the S-OFF to be able to successfully flash firmware?

okay now I have followed the tutorial above and when I check my CID is now 1111111 because I changed it in the hex edittor and pushed it again back.
when I reboot it still came up with the S-ON
I am not sure if this is done for me?
any suggestions is much appreciated
thanks

OK, so now your supercid go through the s-off process again....
THANK YOU!!!
got the S-OFF displayed now and CID 11111111
so if I want to flash firmware (closest to stock), which tutorial should I follow?
any recommendation for :
1. ICS version which is very stable?
2. JB which is very stable?
I am using my phoen for internet browsing, skype, WhatsUp and also emailing most of the time.
Any recommendation is greatly appreciated
Cheers
At this point pretty much every Rom is stable. I don't think there are any ics roms in active development anymore. If you like close to stock go look at the roms in the android development section. They are mostly all sense based and each brings its own tweaks to the table

Don't muck around with firmware... HBoot versions etc. don't matter much once you have s-off.
If you like sense roms, Cleanrom is great (very close to stock) or ViperXL (much more customisable). You'll find both these in the Android Development thread. For a more native Android experience I'm loving Liquid Smooth, available in Android Original Development.
Good luck!

I successfully installed CWM and got S-OFF while using the guide posted in the Android section.
Should I just flash a ROM now thats already rooted? Do I need Super CID? Is that only useful if you want to go back to stock?
edit:
I just read that it allows me to install a ROM from any carrier, not just T-Mobile. Do most of the ROMS require Super CID?

Granting Super CID will allow you to install all original HTC RUU ROMs, not just those intended for your local model. It basically sets your internal HTC model number that RUUs look for to 11111111, which allows you to install any of them.
It is not required for any of the customised ROMs available here, it is only useful if, for example, I wanted to flash the WWE HTC ROM on my Telstra Sensation.
Hope this helps!

I'm new to this site, just registered. Sorry i'm a noob!! So I have had the Blue Tmobile One S since august but sold that one to my friend and bought a black one from a guy and said it's from solavei, So I try it and everything seems legit except It's running Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. So I go to menu>Software updates>check now to see if I can get the OTA they had in September but it says I am currently up to date. I checked my sotfware information and it said my software number was 1.84.1135.17 71ORD. I look online to see if I can some how download it and it told me that if I don't have these two other numbers and had something else then the warranty is void and I can't get updates. So My big question is how can I change my software number? Do I have to like root my phone? Then some how unroot it back to a different stock ROM? I'm open to suggestions and I would really like an answer thanks!!

If you're on 1.84 I would not update via OTA. You probably have a 1.06 or .09 hboot, which will be extremely nice for you.
I would suggest unlocking your bootloader via HTC and installing TrickDroid if you want stock. There arr several guides, including a all in one tool to help you with the process.

You can try typing *#*#CHECKIN#*#* into the dialer and then checking for updates.
Or you can find a T-Mobile US 2.35 RUU and running that. However it will be more difficult to flash ROMs once you have upgraded if you want to do that later on.

I tried that and all it did was say in my notifications "checkin succeeded" and nothing else happend.. so idk about that. I'm not really looking to root my phone, all I really want to do is have my phone run on the latest software and get OTA updates if possible. But if I need to root it, I will. And for the second thing, I'd have to root my phone to run the 2.35 right?

After "checkin succeeded" you should then check for updates in Settings, as I mentioned earlier.
You seem to be running an "ORD" build which is basically like a Beta test for the latest software. RD stands for Research & Development. The latest 2.35 RUU should work without rooting.
However that will upgrade your HBOOT and make it more difficult if you decide to root later on.

Hello, I am fairly new to XDA so, I do not know much. But I am fairly knowledged on technology so just say what you may to help out.
I rooted my HTC One X (Evita) And I installed Cyanogenmod 10 . Now I wanna install cm10.1 nightly, now I installed the
M-2 Release and went back to cm10 now I hear there is a HBOOT requirement.
Now, what would happen if. I tried the nightly (boot loop)?? Because I wanna try it and I don't really trust any other dev except AOKP. Thanks!
There is no requirement. But if your on hboot 2.14 from either a ruu or your hox came with 2.14 then you need to downgrade your touchscreen firmware. The thread is sticked in original dev section. You should be fine flashing the nightly

This is true. I am on 1.14. I flashed about four roms. If you are stuck in bootloop, then just reformat /system and /data, and reflash, and then use fastboot the boot.img. Most of the CM roms requires it. But, I seriously suggest you get S-OFF, while you can. It is worth it, and makes life really simple. The link is in my sig

You have the middle eastern variant of this phone, none of the firmware/hboots/radios etc from the normal version are compatible and will most likely brick your phone if you try to install them. Basically, you can't run any aosp ROM because you can't flash the necessary upgrades. It's unfortunate but you're stuck with Sense ROMs.
The problem is that there simply aren't enough of the middle eastern variant around so there is no development specifically for it, so all you users with that variant are kinda stuck coming into this forum where not everything is compatible.

There's no such thing as hboot 2.20, that's your software version. You need to upgrade your firmware by running the 3.18 RUU. It does state that very clearly in the CM thread. You must have s-off to do this or you'll brick.

thanks it is a great guide
but i dont have mmcblk0p4 and Latest 2.20 firmware ruu
You only need your old mmcblk0p4, if you want to change back to the AT&T CID.
If you just want to unroot, just relock the bootloader, and run the 2.20 RUU (assuming you rooted on 2.20 or earlier firmware).
Don't run the 3.18 RUU, as doing so with S-on and SuperCID will brick the phone. Also, if your bro ever tries to install the Jellybean OTA or RUU, it will brick the phone (with S-On and SuperCID). The way to prevent this from happening, would be to manually change the CID back (you can look in Development for how to do it).

I believe if you have SuperCID or S-off, it will. Otherwise, no.
Also, if the hboot version of the RUU is lower than what is on the phone, it will fail to install.
And to reiterate, if you are SuperCID, and S-on, running some RUUs may brick you. So be careful.
Is there an RUU available for your version? If so, the easiest thing to do is just relock the bootloader and run the right RUU. Since you do not have the AT&T version, its probably not SuperCID. Although I would still verify, to be safe.

Need CID or carrier version. The radio is the only thing useful there, and that particular radio was used on several firmware versions/RUUs.
Might be RUU for Telus Australia 3.17.841.2, but its not certain:

I have my at&t htc one x with ics 4.0.4, rooted and bootloader unlocked, hboot 1.14.002 S-on,
how can i get rid of the at&t and flash a normal rom like cm 10.2,
i read some post and tried to flash rom but gave me error 7.
can any one help me in update to 4.2.2.
The reason the ROMs failed to flash is because your firmware is too old. It does state very clearly in the cm threads that you need to run the 3.18 RUU to upgrade your firmware before installing the ROM. You absolutely must get s-off before you do this though or you'll brick your phone. Head over to the Facepalm S-off or Rumrunner S-off threads and get s-off. Then you can run the 3.18 RUU, if you need help with that look at this thread. Once you've done that you can flash any current aosp ROM.
PS. It'd help you a great deal if you did some research before flashing a ROM, the requirements for flashing cm ROMs are right there in the install instructions. Plus, it's rule #1 here on XDA to search before posting.

I know you mean well but recommending one ROM over the other isn't allowed on XDA. To say one ROM is better infers that the others are inferior in some way, which isn't fair to the devs. He didn't even mention a Sense ROM anyway, he mentioned CM. He also needs to take care of the things I mentioned in my post first. If he did what you said he'd end up in a bootloop because his firmware is too low. I know you mean well but maybe you need to learn a bit more before you start giving out advice, advising people when you don't really know what you're talking about can result in damages phones and nobody wants that to happen.

@TimAAa I actually advised him because I am on the same firmware that he has and mine bootloader details are exactly same as his ,and I am running the Rom with no issues as well so thought of helping me that's it

I know why you did it, I was just letting you know that recommending one ROM over another isn't allowed, for future reference. Plus he didn't ask for a Sense ROM. Plus his firmware version is too to run a Sense 5 ROM.

thanks in advance for explaining and the help you are giving me,
i will start doing all what you said step by step and read the threads , and will inform you where i reached.
i found REVONE for getting the S-OFF, and it is very easy to use, what do you prefer to use and which one ,
You can't use revone, that is the for HTC One, it won't work for our phone. You really shouldn't be wandering into other forums, it's a bad idea, the exploits and software for other devices could very easily brick your phone. Here's our device forum main page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Bookmark that and make sure you stay within it. You can only use the two s-off methods I gave you links for in my earlier post, as for which one is easier, probably the Rumrunner method. Both will work though.

i tried the Rumrunner 3 time and end up in the pic a attached. "press Enter to exit"
also granted all the SU requests.
i dont know what happened or what to do else.
????
It's possible that it's because you're on older firmware that it didn't work. Although sometimes it says it didn't work but it did, check your bootloader just in case. If it turns out you're still s-on, try the Facepalm method instead.
