NO connectivity even after factory reboot. Big problem, need help! - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 G920P.02
Android 5.1.1
Rooted, No ROMS
I am very, VERY confused. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I believe my phone is just fried but I will find out when I take it into the sprint store tomorrow. I will most likely get a new/replacement phone but they will have no idea what caused the problem and I need to figure out how this happened so it won't happen again. I'm also very curious as I don't understand at all.
The problem: It started with me not being able to connect to the internet on ANY of my apps. No crashes or anything, just no connectivity to the internet. Calls and SMS still worked like normal. After calling sprint support they told me dial ##72786#, which then just simply broke calls and SMS. Now NOTHING works.
What caused the problem: This is where I am most confused. I was trying to setup a VPN (purevpn, to be exact) on my Xbox One. In the process of this, I was modifying my router settings on my Windows 8 PC, plugged in a 2nd router, and constantly turned the wifi off and on. I was using my phone to test if the wifi was still working. (e.g. going to google.com on firefox or launching clash of clans...literally that was it) The only thing that I can think may have messed it up was a step in settings up the VPN. On my computer, after I installed the purevpn software I located myself to "Network and Sharing Center", then clicked "Adapter Settings", then clicked on "Pure VPN", then "Sharing", then checked the box "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection", and lastly from the drop down menu, selected "Local Area Network." This allowed all devices on my network to use the VPN. Somehow this messed up my phone that hard?

Steps I have taken to fix this: I tried rebooting my times a million times. Then I cleared DNS cache in firefox and tried to connect. Then I tried hard rebooting my phone to flush DNS cache. Then I called sprint support, who told me dial ##72786#. After dialing this, calling and SMS DO NOT WORK. "Hands free activation" starting running after dialing that number and fails to work everytime. When I wasn't able to call the phone rep back, I used the sprint online chat support. I told the online rep what happened, and they assured me the only way to fix this was to factory reset my phone. As frustrated as I was, I did it. After the factory reboot, my phone STILL CAN'T CONNECT TO ****. Exactly how it was before the reboot, except I lost all of my stuff. I have done countless google searches and am clueless and need help.

Google will push all your stuff back to the phone after you log into your account. But you'll need the internet for that.
How did you get root?

I really don't remember, It was months ago. I paid $30 for it though and have never had issues with it.

Just brought it into a sprint tech store and they fixed by putting in a fresh sim card, reseting the phone, cache, dns, and everything they could reset. After that did not work they flashed an updated version of my phones software on the phone, which removed the root , and fixed the issue.
I explained what I did to all of the employees in the store (I was the only one there) and they were all as clueless as me.
Does anyone know what could have possibly caused this?

[Q] Main Google account sign in error - solution other than reseting all data?

So I popped in another SIM to my phone temporarily, and in the process when I got my own back in, everything was fine EXCEPT
all my google accounts would not sign in, and would not accept their passwords. Strangely, 2/3 of them would not accept their password even on the pc in the browser. I briefly considered that I had been compromised but the timing is way too suspect with this never having happened before (the problem AND switching SIMs)
I reset those 2, and got them working on both the phone and pc browser again, on the phone only by deleting the accounts and re-adding them.
However, the remaining account (which I could always login on pc browser) will still not accept the password on the phone.
Because it is the main google account, it cannot be deleted on the phone except through a factory data reset.
I REALLY don't want to have to go through all that hassle of reconfiguring a million things just because something bugged out during switching SIMs.
How can I fix this without wasting my evening reseting settings and redownloading apps?
is data enabled on the phone? cuz if not it will give such errors. settings>wireless. data

mobile data has always been disabled on this phone; since day 1.
why would it being disabled suddenly cause a problem now?
I don't pay for any data, so what exactly are you proposing I do?
fixed it.
was related to 2 step verification crap. turned it all off and worked again.

[Q] Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.

Not solved. Apparently I needed to use a VPN to connect my account though Talk. But now when my VPN isn't on nothing will sync and my gmail won't load. Until today I have never needed a VPN to log into my Google account. Something is obviously still wrong.
So I've flashed dozens of ROM's at this point and have never had this problem before. I have read all the threads and tried the following fixes ...
Pulled SIM and used WIFI
Factory reset
You Tube account ... This actually registers my Google info under accounts but won't sync at all. When I try to sync contacts or anything I get a red exclamation point and nothing happens.
Flashed other ROM's and different gapps.
Tried logging in though other gapps such as Talk and Gmail. Again YouTube will show up on my account tab as synced. It's green and looks synced but if I try to manually sync it the red error shows up again and nothing has actually been synced.
There must be a reason for this yes?
I should also mention that I'm in Shanghai. However I have never had a problem before. What gives? Why now? Could it really be that the server is down and I should just try again tomorrow?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Yeah... i've been having a similar problem in xiamen for about 3 days... china unicom?
Oh? And also never had this happen before? Happened after you flashed a new ROM?
I'm with CMCC.
What makes me think something is rotten is Chinatown is the fact that if I do use my VPN everything is OK. I'm hoping this isn't the case.
I'm searching for some old TB files I can toss on my phone to try and restore it to an earlier date. If that doesn't work maybe a super crusty old ROM will work. I really am out of ideas at this point.
I wonder if getting rid of root and going stock would fix anything?
Error Message
I have also same problem for past 3 days on China Mobile in Shanghai. I belive it should be something to do with the carrier or Network accessibility to Google products... I am on Galaxy S2.
Today I checked on couple of my friends with Nexus and Galaxy S1 and confirmed that they also face same problem...
Currently the only Google app that's working is Google Translate ... The rest however won't work without my VPN on.
So it looks like this is both CMCC and Unicom so far. I don't even know if there is anything else.
The funny thing is Google + has been working on my phone from launch with no problems. Not anymore though.
Anyway there are so many places selling Android devices in China I could only imagine that this is temporary.
I wonder if there is any way to edit some of the carrier info to make things work?
Apparently there is something going on, it looks like.
It looks like it's happened before, and after about 3-4 days it sets itself aright...
Anyone figure out a workaround? I was using a pretty good VPN, but the android version only has pptp and therefore barely works here. I can't get any programs, email, or anything on my phone after a factory reset... this makes me sad.
*had some links posted but I guess I need to post a few more times before it lets me*
Anyone figure out any updates or fixes for this yet?
It's been like that for several days now...I'm with CMCC. After sometimes it'll be okay as usual....black "magic" I would call it.
VPN is a no no for me, used to work fine till they block it. I'm using SSH Tunnel now...no problem in general except from time to time (once in a very blue moon like now) when "they" cast their "magic"
Without tunneling. market couldn't get through these days.
How annoying. I even tried taking out my SIM card, and doing a hard reset, and then trying to download my software from my WIFI, but it's not a DDWRT router so I can't access the VPN.
Is there software that can turn an OpenVPN connected computer into a Wifi router? If I logged into my computer which is on a VPN, maybe I could at least re-download all my apps from the market......
*sigh* or wait heh
I got the same problem like last 5 days ...i m in China too ..with china unicom ...i tried everything possible like factory reset, uninsalling and installing gapps, install stock image , cache cleaning ....BUT ...CAN'T LOGIC GOOGLE ....
at last i used VPN on my phone ..and its sync and connect in a second ...problem gone...Happy to have my fully functional phone back
MAGIC Happened again
Just trying to log into the market .. yes now we can access the market and other google products..

Need some help after factory reset

I performed a factory reset using the Volume Up + Home button + Power button method.
When I rebooted the phone, I get a screen stating that the SIM card is activated and it has my phone number displayed. Pressing next gets me to the Samsung Account sign in screen.
It says that abnormal factory reset was done and that I need to sign in to my Samsung account to verify my identity.
When I try to sign in, it tries for a while and then I get a message that flashes momentarily, stating the there was an "error while connecting to SSL."
I know my Samsung user id and password are good since I can log in to my Samsung account through my PC.
I have a no WiFi indicator on the status bar, just LTE so I don't understand the SSL part.
Calling Samsung was no help. After almost an hour of online chat and calling the the help desk they switched me to their account support dept who said there was nothing wrong with my account and I need to call the jhelp desk again.
I have tried hard reset more than once with the same result.
Is there a way to get around this Samsung Account sign in screen so I can set up my phone?
Edit. Stock Lollipop no root
Edit: To add more information.
I purchased this phone on EBAY. I am trying to contact the seller to obtain the userid and password he used to set up the phone. I am not sure if I can get it or if this will solve my problem. Am I screwed or i there some other way around this problem?

Hate to say, but you probably bought a stolen phone. There was an article somewhere in Q&A about getting around it but I couldn't say if it works or not, and getting support for this here is a little taboo. None of us want to be responsible for helping someone hack into a stolen device.
Understood but the iemi was clean and I was able to activate it on Pageplus which is a Verizon mvno.

use odin to restore
Google Samsung S6 reactivation lock bypass. Try calling Samsung again, maybe even Verizon if you can't get hold of the seller from EBAY.
Yeah. Seller claims he never created a Samsung Account id. (Beginning to suspect origin of phone) Samsung said they don't have service centers in my area and the one in Atlanta (closest to me) is no longer in service. Haven't tried Verizon yet but what the heck. Time to return to seller for refund.

Pixel dumps SMSC upon restart

So, this is bit of a new issue, one I've not had before. I wish Hangouts/Messenger still had the Service Center ID in the settings in order to fix this, but, in the long/short run...
I unboxed my pixel and put my SIM in, started the phone. LTE/UMTS work perfect, locked right on, good signal/speeds, can place/receive calls, all is right in the world? I noticed after an hour I hadn't received any texts, and after feeling very unimportant, I sent a SMS to a friend, and got an immediate error. Out of curiosity, I went into the INFO settings (*#*#3646#*#*) and went into the SMSC settings. pressed refresh, which, populated an error. I manually typed mine, hit update, went back to hangouts, and voila!
The next day, I restarted the phone ( I like to do this often. I am also this user who actually turns their phone off from time to time ) and noticed upon restart, the problem resurfaced, like as if I never updated it to begin with.
Is this occurring with anyone else? I've yet to see a phone completely dump it. I'd prefer not to download another SMS application really, but, it's just inconvenient those few times I do restart it that I lose that SMSC number...
I'm having the problem as well but still haven't been able to fix it with the same procedure you did. It's driving me nuts.
UPDATE EDIT: I just realized the Wifi is interfering with it. As soon as I turned off the wifi, the txt would go out.
I'm having this same issue. I've contacted support about it, but haven't gotten a response yet (they said I would have an update yesterday).
If I manually put the SMSC in, and then Update, I can send texts briefly, but eventually I start getting an error 38 instead. A reboot and then manually entering the SMSC again allows me to send texts again.

I'm curious if setting your mobile data to always-on would be a functional workaround to help until they can get this fixed for real. Have you tried that?

Notifications

Google pixel 3 (not XL) - Three is my provider.
For a number of weeks now I've not been receiving notifications while using data, until the app has been opened or till the phone connects to Wi-Fi.
I have contacted Three, thinking it may be an issue with service of some sort. They've been through loads of different settings (the person I spoke to did seem to know what they were talking about and very useful), but they got to point where they had exhausted everything they could think of.and asked me to turn my phone on and off to see if that helps with some of the settings that had been changed... it didn't.
Since, I've done a factory reset (I'd already tried resetting using the other options), this did didn't help. I've gone through all easy accessible settings to make sure no battery optimizer setting are on (the ones I can find at least), I've gone through all the data settings. But nothing seems to be working.
As soon as my phone connects to Wi-Fi I then get loads of notifications coming through.
Not sure if anybody else is having an issue with this or if it's due to the most recent update as the two seemed to happen to close togethe.
I've tried contacting Google and not had any reply. I'm at a loss of what else I can try hoping somebody on here night have another suggestion please.
