I know that being able to change your splash screen is not currently doable on this device. I was wondering if anyone knew what partition (block) it's located on so that I can pull it to see what I can come up with? If no one knows I'd greatly appreciate it if someone can help me figure it out. I own an at&t a9 that was converted to the dev edition after obtaining s-off, so accessing those partitions won't be a problem.

Hello all after doing a little digging I found that in a update.zip file the command used was write_hboot_image only possible that one would assume a similer command exists to pull spl from the device. Currently trying to take the one off the i/o device and mess with it but the real goal is for the mytouch 3g as I will get to play with for an hour on Wednesday and see if there is any magic to getting arround the locks that are on that one to hopefully allow root on the deviceonce pulled ofcourse will post so all can have a crack at it. Like haykuro the god of all things Android. If anyone can help would be greatly appreciative. Thank you. Or maybee if anyone knows what partition that it is on would help too.
maybe try read_hboot_image (joking)
anyways I said this before but root will most likely be achieved via a software exploit like RC29 but I don't think you shuld mess with SPL if you don't know JTAG
Lol I did try that command in adb and fastboot didn't work. Forgive me for dumb question what is jtag. Have to look that up.
Hi everyone,
I have a Telus Snap S510 with HardSPL (Bootloader 039.Hard). I'm not entirely certain if any of the existing cooked ROM's will work with the Telus version, so I'd like something to fall back on.
I can easily do a ROM dump, but I would like to know if there is any way to construct a flashable ROM from it just in case no new ROM's work. If there's a tutorial, could someone post me a link?
Thanks.

Sure there is. Go ahead and dump the RAW files and upload them to Mediafire.
Done.

How do we convert this to installable ROM
How do we convert these RAW files to installable ROM.
I have HTC Telus Snap S510. Looking to load stock ROM. Please help.
I too would like to know how to convert the RAW to a ROM
So I have killed my Telus SNAP S510 - I guess I tried to update without noticing that the HARDSPL was not installed completely, now I have a device that needs its brain back - finding the original ROM has turned up fruitless - but I did find the RAW file someone had posted, now if I could get it back to the ROM somehow... is there a utility or something for this? I have been poking around in the hermes bootloader command prompt without success (task 28, task 29, set 14 0, set 14 X, etc)
She just stairs at me with the splash screen even after I do a hard reset - I am able to get to the boot loader - it would be great to find a way to make the boot loader lower the security level - I am certain that is why it will not upload now.
Any help?

I know you have a Telus, but have you try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652532.
Additionally, I will recommend to visit here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=612. Please read a lot before you post any thread.
recooked Telus rom
I've successfully recooked the Telus dump into a flashable rom, see my post at:

Hi all,
After getting very frustrated with out-of-space messages on my UK HTC Desire (Virgin Mobile) I've been getting it ready for flashing with a custom rom, probably something like Gingerburst.
Anyhow. Today (after a lot of reading; I assure you!) I used Unrevoked to root my device - that went painlessly. I had imagined that I wanted s-off so was a little surprised when it didn't do it. The plan is now to use AlphaRev to sort out the s-on/s-off issue - only I don't want their Joker splash screen.
I actually quite like my stock HTC (white, no quietly brilliant) and black Virgin Media splash screens. Is there a way to back this up so I can restore it after I've AlphaRev'd it?
I hope so! Thanks in advance for your help. Apologies if this is a repeat; I did search fairly extensively and didn't manage to find anyone doing the same thing - or trying to.
(Out of interest do I really need s-off to get the most out of rooting and flashing custom roms? If not, I'll probably leave it!)
Thanks!
Smii
Some more in-depth and circuitous searching has turned up a chap who used a linux program (name escapes me) to unpack the boot.img file from the nandroid backup and push a particular file (his wifi settings) back up to his phone.
If I was to a) get a handle on the exact methodology and b) find out where in the boot.img file the splash screen is, I suppose I could conceivably do the same? Run AlphaRev 1.8, then push my original splash over the top? Hopefully it wouldn't undo the s-off.
Can anyone confirm that the splash screen is included in the nandroid backup?
Hello everyone,
I have just bought myself a Desire S.
I have learned how to get to the HBOOT Menu.
I really do not understand what do every selection do on this menu!!
I need to back up my system, in case something goes wrong
How to do this?
My phone is S-On, un-rooted
I do not plan to root it.
Thank you very much.
EDIT: ANYONE WITH SOME HELP PLEASE?
Anyone can even point me to the right thread ?!
I have looked for a considerable amount of time and still cant get this down, I changed roms to a Sense rom, and it changed my splash screen, which was fine but now I went back to cyannogen, with a full wipe and the splash screen didnt revert to the original sensation one, I would like it to go back, any ideas on where I could get the file and how to flash it exactly would be great, I am very noobish with this stuff so any kindness would be greatly appreciated, I am not saying this hasnt been covered, Im just saying that I in my efforts have been unable to find the information, please and Thank you.
In post 6 there are instructions on how to flash a Splashscreen.
There is also a link in the post on how to make a Splashscreen.
I am sorry but I do not have the stock Splashscreen

There is one roaming in one of these threads somewhere.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Coredroid V5.1

Hi,
Check HERE
If you want the stock htc splash then you can download this:
http://db.tt/3FSojp5f
You can run a script from terminal to flash any created splash:
Code:
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/[COLOR="Red"]your splash file[/COLOR] of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14
Change the "your splash file" to whatever you've named your splash, and make sure you type everything correctly. If you mistype the block you stand a chance of writing to the wrong partition, which would be very bad.
