I have been searching all over for this but it's probaly right in front of my face. I read that you need to get rid of SPL.nbh from official ROMS before flashing back with HardSPL. The problem is, the official T-Mobile Wing ROM that I downloaded is an .exe file. How do I go about removing the SPL.nbh file since it doesn't display folder contents or anything, just runs the RUU?
Sorry for the double post, I realized I was in the wrong forum

I'm uploading a zip file which will have the entire thing already to go.
Just flash your device as you would with any other rom.
Hang tight the link will be available within 10 mins.
Thank you sir. Greatly appreciated

This is the same tool used to flash your device when it was not HARD-SPL.
I replaced the RUU_Signed file and SPL.nh file already.
It will bring your wing back to the stanard rom as when you first got it.
One more question. I'm looking to keep HardSPL but I have to revert to original to upgrade ROMS don't I? I want to upgrade to your OT 6.5 ROM

Okay,
I thought you wanted to go back to the original T-Mobile rom.
If your trying to HARD-SPL your device to install one of my roms or another cooks roms then thats another story.
Please read my FAQ or one of the stickies.
Ok, I think I got it now. So I don't need to revert to the original ROM to flash it since I have HardSPL? Thanks for the help
wen i did this i think i bricked my fone now its at the tmobile screen and it jus staying there
I tried the file that you uploaded here...And it went thru the whole process of flashing the ROM, but after it updated my wing just stays on the T-Mobiel screen and never boots past that.
It had that open touch software on it and I don't want open touch. I want plan old WM 6.0 on there.
I called T-Mobile and got an offical 6.0 update from them, but when I try that one it gets to 1% then says it has a disconneted and I get a connection error.

So does this work? The two people who did this had problems. I need the phone to be all stock so I can have t-mobile send a free replacement because the screen is going on this wing.
***EDIT:*** Oka so this is the same as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364543&page=2 the first time I tried it it froze at 15% on step 2 so I installed the RAPI CAB like it says. Step two completed, phone rebooted and had white screen then I got error 260 I think. I have the stock t-mobile rom on it and had it on before I did this but it still has the yang from when I did a hard spl. Is there another way to get it to stock or am I doing something wrong? Plug in phone, let it sync, run herald-uspl.exe hit enter and so forth.
***EDIT*** Ok so this time it completed but is now stuck at the T-Mobile screen and I am now unable to even flash because I can't get past it And that damn yang still shows up in bootloader. Well went into bootloader and flashed from there so phone works but the damn yang is still there. And on a side note: Has anyone ever had a problem with their screen going very dark after flashing a rom from here? Phone was fine then I flashed OTP v7.4 TouchFlo 2D Lite.nbh yesterday and at night screen started going dark, would light up when opened in keyboard mode, then switched and then both were very dark and hard to see. I then flashed to OTP v7.3.1 TouchFlo 2D Final.nbh and still dark. Then I flashed to stock rom and have been able to see the screen since.
This is stupid easy to do... im shocked there isnt a post going into detail.

Did not work. Do I need to install the cab files again? I know I deleted a file out of the stock rom so it would not overwrite or verify or something but I put that file back, should I not have? This has been a few weeks and still can't get the yang off. Screen on my girls phone is almost dead, she can't even slide it any more so I need to fix the spl so I can send back to t-mobile....anyone ?
this is what i do to get back to the tmobile orginal. download the software from tmobile. I downloaded the newest update from tmobile site. REMOVE YOUR SD CARD. Connected my phone via usb. Launched the update. It has never failed me yet. It is just like updating your phone. tmobile has to take it, it is their update. They sent me a new phone noproblem, matter of fact i have to do it again, the back on the phone keeps getting loose on me. so they are sending me another phone again. hope this helps.
Alternatively you can use the combination of uspl and stock rom ruu to return your device to stock tmobile rom...
1. Enter in to uspl like you were falshing one of ttran001 roms... You can get this HERALD-USPL-beta3 from http://rapidshare.com/files/79249048/Flash_Center.rar
2. ONLY use steps 1 and 2 from the black screen (getting the white screen on your device)...
3. For step 3 in the flasher exit out of the black screen (windows cmd screen) by pressing ctrl+C...
4. Fire up the official ruu from tmobile found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358030 or alternatively if you have a tmobile account still active you can get the most up to date rom from http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
5. Fallow on screen instructions...
6. Back to stock rom...

Hello freind,
I have been downloaded the above "Remove_HARD-SPL_On_The_Wing.rar" files and flash it to my Dopod C858 which has the Chiness language, I suppose to change the language from chinesse to Englis, After flashing the above files, now the phone is only in bootloader mode.
If you start the phone it will stuck on white screen and turn off.
Please help me how to revive my phone back.

Being stuck at the Tmobile screen isn't a true brick. Just reflash your ROM. (If you're not HardSPL'd, reflash your RUU.)
Remove Hard SPL from bootloader
Hi,
Anyone out there knows if we can remove hardspl from bootloader of Wing. Problem is my mobile displays splash screen, then switch offs by itself. Its been quite some time that I have hardspled it and have been using it. But recently I am facing this issue, so I am trying to move to original RUU and try if it works.
So for that anyone knows if we can remove hardspl from bootloader, because I am only able to enter bootloader. Moreover I tried several original roms from Flash Center as well as through SD card as well, but still be SPL version is 4.70.yang. Anyone knows any other alternative.
Also, if anyone has faced similar problem then kindly advice how you resolved.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Pankaj
i have a g1 that i installed Jesusfreaks 1.31 to and also flashed hardspl to it.. im having serious battery issues so i am going to return my phone for another one.. im trying to find a how-to on reversing everything i have done along with the stock rc30 image... can someone please point me at a tutorial or in the right direction...
i have googled it for the past 30 mins and have found nothing..
thanks
Download the G1Orig SPL here, flash that. Then download one of the revert update packages here and flash that. Remember to Alt+W to wipe the user and cache partitions too.
Edit: By the way are you having recurring serious battery charge loss or was it just one event?
You could flash the original bootloader (image is in the SPL thread) and then load the stock t-mobile rc29 onto your phone. Then take your phone to T-Mobile for warranty.
This way it just seems as though your phone never got the OTA rc30 update
I brought my phone in to ask a question about a clicking noise my phone had (the arm that the display moves on feels loose) when open. The guy behind the counter asked to see my phone and I was not thinking...he took it and noticed the clicking but said it was normal; he showed me his phone and a few display phones that did the same. Then he fired up "About phone" and suddenly became quite...he turned quite confused and told me that this was not a Dev phone. I played dumb and told him "I don't know, this is how it came from the store when I got it last month..." He then rebooted my phone to see both custom spash screens and the engineering boot loader...I wish I had a camera for the look on his face.
Oddly enough, both he and his manager were reluctant to give me my phone back.
So yeah, I recommend putting a stock rc29 on your phone before taking it in
i downloaded the origSPL and when i go to flash it with alt s it says verifying update package
no signature
verification faield
installation aborted
its renamed to update.zip and im assuming because i have done this before that i am doing it correctly .. any advice?
Did you already revert back to official Android? The SPL updaters are signed with test keys, so if you have already reverted to official Android then anything signed with test keys will fail to flash.
this is my build and kernel version..
would this be the updated rc30? i thought that i updated it correctly and i assume that i could not have flashed hard spl if i hadnt
Kernel version
2.6.25-01843-gfae26b0

build numberer kila-user 1.0 tc4-rc30 116143 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
When you enter recovery mode do you see JF's custom background or is it the standard recovery?
its JF's recovery screen.. im thinking to flash the test key recovery.img and then downgrade.. flash the new orig spl then the orig rc30.. witll that work?
If you're seeing JF's recovery screen then you already are running on test keys; there is no need to flash a different recovery.img
i have reformatted the sd card a bunch of times... only thing i can thnk of is that when i download the files from here to my mac it comes as a folder and then i zip them and rename them.. can this be the problem?
Comes as a folder? Sorry, I have no idea how macs work (or don't). You should not need to be zipping anything. If it worked before in the past i'm sure you got it working somehow. The MD5 of the file as it appears on the sdcard should be the identical to what I posted in the SPL sticky.

just use the RC29 NBH file and flash it from SD card. this will make it like it was out of the box.
but the spl will be the hardspl not the orig spl correct?
NBH file doesn't overwrite the SPL though, does it?

Just flash the Dream file here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463779

hope this helps others with this problem

There's your problem
that brings up the question...
to make thing simple for people.
Does anyone have the orignal G1 recovery.img image so for those who want to revert back to orignal firmware with ORIGNAL keys it would be nice.
for some people its better for them to know that thye are reversing their steps them.
what I know from all the threads above is just loading loading firmwares with test keys....
now how about the original recovery.img. Provding a reverse would be nice.
=)
Getting the original recovery.img is easy. Just download the original RC30/RC8 file from any mirror and open it up with your favorite archiving program. However in order to revert the SPL you would still need to be using test keys.
recovery I can do
the reverting of SPL..hell I dont know how to do that....
NTT Docomo officially released this OS in July. I'm posting the nandroid backup from a new retail device for developers, or for anyone who rooted their HT-03A and wants to restore the original OS. Download it here.
This OS contains Japanese IME iWnnIME and other Japan locale specific modifications, similar to my previous post containing Google Japan's developer OS.
Thank you!!
How do you install this on the phone though?
It's a nandroid backup, so you can do "fastboot flashall", or fastboot flash the partitions one at a time, check the docs for fastboot. Also I think some modified recovery images can restore directly from SD card.
Yeah I just figured after reading someone elses post on your other thread.
I ended up doing something like fastboot erase system.img -w (or something) then flashed the system.img, boot.img & data.img & it worked!
Although auto rotation seems to be a bit dodgy on my phone but it doesnt matter either way because the IME is pretty quick & smart! many thanks!!

Can't figure why you'd want the DoCoMo vanilla image in England unless you want to cook your own ROM or return an HT-03A to DoCoMo for service. Japanese font support is built-in and the system font is DroidSansFallback.ttf
I live Japan - if it's for the IME, there are MUCH better ones out there - Simeji's great. Was there anything else special about the stock one? It's been so long since I've looked at it.

any chance to load 20090801-docomo-ht-03a.zip via goldcard? I created goldcard from the LIVE sapphire and put the zip, renamed to sappimg.zip and load from fastboot but did not succeed..
If possible could anyone has this device can make a goldcard and send to me?

Unable to download the ROM from jmaurice's link. Does anyone has an alternate link?
Help appreciated.
Ditto that on the broken link. Does anyone have a nandroid of the 1.6 updated OS? My phone refuses to install the update when I get it legitimately OTA.
So every time I tried flashboot flashall I kept getting errors regarding "-p not set and blah blah android_product_out" so in order to fix this I did the following:
1: Place Maurice's files into a folder on my desktop called "A"
2: using the recovery in Maurice's package, I did the following:
flashboot boot recovery.img
3: when in recovery, I performed a Nandroid backup
4: when complete, I turned off my device and took out the SD card and put it into my PC
5: find the Nandroid backup folder on the SD card and delete all the files inside
6: replace those deleted files with the files in the "A" folder on your desktop
7: put SD card back into the phone and go into flashboot mode
8: flashboot boot recovery.img
9: after it boots, select the option to "Restore Last Backup" (or something along those lines). The recovery loader will then restore the Maurice's files to the device.
Done. Now I just want to find the 1.6 update file from Docomo.
edit: Even without a Docomo SIM, because I have the 1.5 running, I turned on WIFI and connected to my home network and the 1.6 update is downloading as I type this.
And fail. The update failed because "No signatures found". Will have to play a little more.

Hi folks.
I am desperate to get Cyanogens mod on my phone but I can't downgrade to 1.5 because i'm on 1.6 with a UK vodafone Magic (32B).
Any chance a serious andoid expert could step in and tell me:
Will there be a new image made to fix this issue?
is there a method I will understand? It says on the Cyanogen Wiki that there has been "some success" with my version but I can't find where it says how to downgrade for my version
I keep hearing about gold card or summink but i'm a noob and I don't have the foggiest idea where to start.
Please help!! and try to make your responses understandable
Dont worry...
Hi there
I think is possible what you're trying to do, but in order to change your rom you don't need downgrading nowadays (HTC are not PSPs, hehe).
I have a magic from Vodafone ES, and what you have to do first is check your model, can be 32A (HTC) or 32B (Vodafone, less ram in cell phone), so you'll probably have 32B like me.
After this, you need Android SDK and drivers to connect your device usb, load a modified SPL via ADB/fastboot (there's a thread in the forum with the HBOOT collection, you need one of those in your cell in order to change the rom).
Summarizing:
1. check if 32B
2. get Android SDK to use the commands fastboot/ADB
3. replace SPL
4. continue with the cyano's wiki
I followed this: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=74683 (sorry is in spanish and a bit outdated, but the apps you need like the SDK are in there, and you have some screenshots, you can skip the root part since cyano's mod is rooted already).
About the goldcard method, I dont know because mine hadn't had perfect SPL, I only had trouble with the usb driver, and downloaded HTC sync (look for it on google if you need) and adb/fastboot detected my device.
A good idea is to install a recovery image once you change your SPL, I personally recommend Amon_RA's recovery 1.5.2.
Last but not least, these explanations are the basics, I know it sounds like chinese to you but read more posts in the forum, there's a cyanogen flashing guide as well, with all the information and these steps you'll do fine.
Hope you'll succeed, let me know your issues
I do understand reasonably well but you cannot use the guide on here with a UK magic as the SAPPH.img file or whatever has an incorrect ID. it's at this point the process cannot be completed.
Thanks so much for your lengthy reply but in this case I believe my phone is unique and the problem cannot be be as easily resolved as you suggest. I must downgrade to 1.5.
Are any of the extreme android geeks able to shed light on this?
I can shed light on you as I have a Vodafone HTC Magic 32B. I used the instructions at the link below and got my phone back to Cupcake, but oddly enough I used the MyTouch instructions and searched online for a suitable sappimg.nbh file as the one they provided didn't work for me. Now I am running Qteknology MagicSense Hero ROM with working LEDs. Forget about ADB, SDK and the Goldcard method... I am sure you want the simplest way to unroot so you can get back to 1.5 and the reroot to whatever you like. Here it is: http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-root-a-donut-phone-android-1-6/
This is great news but I have tried that method with the sappimg.nbh and it says incorrect ID every time.
Are you using a UK vodafone magic then? If so, where did you find a SAPPIMG that worked?
Please try and remember!
It doesn't matter that your phone is a UK Vodafone Magic.. if you google sappimg.nbh and download a few until you get the one you need you will have your phone reverted back to it original state... ready to root. If you stop your search after one attempt you will not have done all you needed to do. You don't have to know any codes or get another SD card.. just put some effort into it from your computer. Google is your friend.
but being a bit of a noob to all this, surely trying sappimg files at random might risk bricking my phone? I heard there was a good sappimg for all but my version of the phone which is why I mentioned it.
Maybe someone on here has a sappimg known to work with my phone?
But yes, i'm off to do some intense googling.
Thanks
Hi
I have a UK Voda Magic and I followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579328 and worked perfectly for me
It truly is lovely of you all to try and help and I appreciate it but I suspect you have not read my comments properly.
Those of you that have commented here were only able to get it to work because you were flashing from/rooting from a 1.5 cupcake build. Once the OTA 1.6 donut update is on a UK magic it cannot be downgraded and so all comments thus far are superfluous. contrary to other comments it is necessary to flash SAPPIMG.nbh first and this does not work on my phone - incorrect CID.
Is there anyone on here that can help with MY issue?
Thanks.
Strange, because I have no issues flashing UK Voda 1.6 phones, just fastboot and use ADB to load recovery image, then flash whatever 32B ROM I like (Dwangs 1.17.1 is great). I did a work collegues before Christmas and his phone had never been modified, only received the OTA update from 1.5 to 1.6 around October time.
I'm on it. That's the way I used to flash roms back when i first got my magic. Now i've been thrown by all the simple guides to put cyanogen and I thought the sappimg method was the only way. I'll just download the sdk and get on my merry way
I don't understand what the issue is? I have a UK vodafone 32B and have been flitting between CM's mods, Hero mods backwards and forwards with no issues whatsoever?
I'm on CM's latest right now (well, a few back now 4.2.11 latest), just followed the instructions and it worked....?
I certainly did read your OP correctly and I also was on 1.6 when I followed the link I posted. In that link it has instructions on how to do it if you are on 1.5 OR 1.6
Started out with 1.5 Vodafone UK Magic which i've flashed many times using the fastboot boot cm-recovery-1.4.img method.
At one time i went back to stock 1.5 but let it update itself (OTA) to 1.6. Since then i've continued to flash new ROMs without problem.

hi alfieg
ive vodafone magic 32B with donut and perfect SPL, in present day, I tried all the guides and methods in many forums, without success, for example, if you follow the guide in wiki cyano, already the first step there are problems, how I try to update with sappimg. (cupcake 1.5) as the ends' update writes "main version is older," "update failed "... if you do not then a way to get cupcake is impossible to have root on magic 32b with donut and Perfect spl ....
Indeed in the wiki says, if you have donut Downgrading to 1.5 FAILED: HTC Magic Vodafone ES (Spain) (32B) Official 1.6 updated OTA "
wait a few geek we solve the problem ...
I don't see what the problem is. You should have been reverted back to 1.5 and flashing new ROMs. The instructions are simple.. someone else has done all the hard work.. all you have to do is download a file and hold your phone.

Will you lot please listen to me!
There are two methods reccommended:
1) Flash the SAPPIMG.nbh to downgrade back to 1.5 - this does not work on a UK magic on vodafone 32B at all! It reports Invalid CID, update failed!
2) use the fastboot boot cm-recovery-1.4.img via the SDK - This does not work on my phone! - I have the device listed when I use "adb devices" so the drivers are ok but it hangs at <Waiting for device> when i try to fastboot boot cm-recovery-1.4.img!!!!!! No ammount of killing the server and remounting as per the cyano instructions works!!!!! in fact, it wont let me remount (Operation not permitted)!!!
If you don't understand please don't post. People who have not updated to 1.6 OTA and people who don't have a UK voda 32B - stop posting here.
Grrrr
No need to downgrade

I have a New Zealand Vodafone Magic 32B and they share the same Hboot 1.33.0004 (SAPP10000) SPL with the UK (and NL and AU) vodafone phones. That means they are VERY easy to load alternate ROMs onto. The horrible stuff many Americans and others have to go through to root their phones isn't required for us.
You do need to get the Android SDK installed and talking properly to your phone.
Assuming you have the SDK set up and you can see your USB-connected phone listed when you enter the "adb devices" command, then the rest should be easy. See the Cyanogen Mod wiki for the details. You want the section on "non-Tmobile 32B magics" on this page:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_MT3G/Magic_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
It starts with:
"Non-TMobile 32B Magics
If the above doesn't work for you, don't despair. Some non-US Magics are shipped with a fastboot compatible SPL installed. If you see 3 skateboarding androids when you boot to fastboot, you should be able to do the following:"
..............
This is the part you want to pay attention to, assuming you have the SDK installed properly. Our phones are actually MUCH easier to load others ROM on because we have those fastboot-enabled SPLs already in place and this is the first, BEST way for us to do it.
Whatever you do, do NOT flash the "Danger SPL". There is no need to for an HTC Magic with the Hboot 1.33.0004 (SAPP10000) SPL.
If you're hopelessly lost at this point, seek hands-on local help. You don't know enough to do this by yourself without risking screwing up. if no one can help you, then take your time. Learn the stuff you need to know....Being in a hurry is a great way to go wrong. I spent 3 months reading and thinking about it before I loaded my first ROM. Much of the advice is for the Dream / G1 or locked MyTouch3G or Magic 32B phone from telcos who lock them....and simply isn't relevant for the HTC Magic 32B from Vodafone. the single section I'm pointing you to above is all we need to get it done.
Finally, here is my own "simple guide" for getting loading alternate ROMs on a Vodafone HTC Magic 32B. This is about OUR phone...and should work if you work your way through it.
http://truthseekernz.blogspot.com/2009/11/simple-guide-to-loading-new-roms-on.html
You don't need to worry about "gold cards" and all that stuff. You'll be flashing an already rooted ROM and you will have backed up your un-rooted original load with "nandroid" before you change ANYTHING. That backup is your path back to the way your phone was before you rooted it by flashing an already rooted system ROM. in loading ROMs like Cyanogen's you're not baking a cake, you're buying one....so you don't need to know how to make one, you just need to know where to get one and how to serve it....if that analogy makes sense.
Simply, you start by: fastboot boot RA-recovery-1.5.2G.img:
Then, from the recovery menu of functions you do these steps:
1. Backup (nandroid)
2. Wipe system / data
3. Wipe cache
4. flash from any zip on sdcard (the one you want to flash today, you may have put several different ROM images in /sdcard)
5. reboot to brave new world.
6. Make a backup copy on your PC of the /sdcard/nandroid folder on your sdcard so you won't lose it accidentally if your sdcard is corrupted, lost or stolen.
Done.
To save time and let you backup / flash ROMs anywhere you happen to be standing, you can flash Amon-RA's recovery onto your phone or you can load it via fastboot every time and leave the default recovery in place. The very first nandroid backup you made will have backed up the factory recovery image as well as the factory system image as they were at the time you backed them up. So they can be restored if you want to at some point update them with an OTA update. I suspect Vodafone / HTC will be rolling out an Android 2.0 / 2.1 update to Magic phones at some point. If they don't that would be a black mark against them....something to remember when thinking about buying any future phone from anyone: "WILL THEY SUPPORT IT FOR THE SAME 2 YEARS YOU'VE SIGNED UP FOR".
If the answer isn't YES......then that's worth remembering. Vodafone / HTC's record so far is good. The last OTA update was barely 3 months ago.

Get latest version of fastboot binary. I had problems with original one and htc magic. Drop fastboot.exe into the sdk tools folder.
Reboot your phone holding back and power simultaneously.
Then plug usb cable.
in Dos prompt go to sdk tools folder and type "fastboot devices"
if your device is listed you are good to go.
then "fastboot boot cm-recovery-1.4.img"
i recently loaded my triumph with cherry mobiles magnum hd gingerbread software. the phone works great but is there a way i can get the radio to work.. by radio i mean the calling radio like not the fm radio but the actual radio to work? it seems like the software i loaded is for a gsm phone because it lists an imei number?? btw the hotspot activates flawlessly on gingerbread..the built in fm radio does not work it only picks up static..but other than not being able to connect to a cell tower it works just fine...will be uploading pics soon... is there a cdma gingerbread that i can install because im really sure cherry mobile magnum hd is a gsm phone because the phone is asking for a sim card?? but the o.s works beautifully on the triumph..

No information on radio, but there is no FM radio chip built into the triumph.
link? it's a fully functional gb rom?
yes it is somewhat functional everything else seems to work except the cell phone cdma radio and the fm radio (no hardware support aka not installed) so you can use the wifi to do stuff and both ffc and rear camera work.. at first my phone would just cycle boot ( keep restarting) so i just formated the memory and the cache in the menu where u hold down all buttons.. i just unzipped the file and put it in the sd card and renamed it (i forgot but it says when you try to load it on the phone)..
if you want the links i have to message them to you because...
(To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!)
what's the point of using that if you can't even make phone calls/send texts
Couldn't you try reloading the radio files back on it?
Sent from my MOTWX435KT using XDA App
I'm glad someone did this... will you run some benchmarks? I wonder how GB linpacks
MOTWX435KT
From what i remember the cherry is a GSM phone meaning the radio is not going to work on the triumph. Since we all know virgin is CDMA.
i wanted to see if i could atleast get gingerbread on it.. after 8 posts i will post pics of the phone and the link to install.i am trying to see how far i can take the phone.. .. the phone was rooted when it had froyo but i dont think that affects the all buttons pressed down menu... i will run some benchmark tests tomorrow... is there any gingerbread roms that are for x6 phone roms that are cdma that i could try to install??
That may be just a library difference.... and easily grafted back in and fixed!
ok heres the stuff..
link that i followed to install this gingerbread on my phone... (just a tenth warning that the cdma radio will NOT work.. wifi DOES work tho..) http://androidos.in/2011/06/install...10-now-official-build-from-huawei-x6-variant/

Oh boy..... ok, time for me set up an Android development environment over here and start ripping this apart to see if I can find the correct missing pieces and play "splicer".
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS ALMOST OR FULLY CHARGED BEFORE BEGINNING
1.DOWNLOAD THE FIRMWARE FROM:
http://www.cherrymobile.com.ph/downloads/MAGNUM_softwareupdate2.zip
2.EXTRACT IT TO YOUR DESKTOP
3.THERE WILL BE A FILE NAMED FB0-318B-0-5019-A01.nb0 CHANGE IT TO firmware.nb0
4. AFTER THE FILE WAS CHANGED FROM FB0-318B-0-5019-A01.nb0 TO firmware.nb0 COPY IT TO YOUR SD CARD (DO NOT PLACE IN A FOLDER)
5.AFTER YOU DO THAT TURN PHONE OFF.. PRESS POWER,VOLUME UP AND DOWN AT THE SAME TIME UNTIL PHONE SCREEN SHOWS THE MOTOROLA EMBLEM..
6.NOW WHEN YOU GET INTO THE MENU PRESS BACK OR HOME TO SHOW OPTIONS.. USE VOLUME BUTTONS TO GET TO THE LAST ONE IT SHOULD SAY INSTALL OR DOWNLOAD .NB0 FILE.. CLICK ON THAT ( I THING PRESS HOME TO ENTER OR POSSIBLY BACK SORRY I FORGOT).
7. AFTER YOU PRESS ON DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL NB0 FILE IT SHOULD HAVE A CIRCULAR GREY THING ON THE SCREEN (THE SAME KIND OF ICON WHEN GOOGLE SYNC'S ON YOUR PHONE BUT BIGGER) IT TOOK ME ABOUT 5 MINS..
8. AFTER THAT THE SCREEN SHOWED MY PHONES INFO AND WARNED THAT MY BATTERY WAS LOW I JUST TOOK OUT THE BATTERY AND RESTARTED IT..
9. THE PHONE WAS STUCK IN A CYCLE IT KEPT RESTARTING AFTER SAYING MAGNUM HD ON THE SCREEN..SO I REPEATED STEPS 5-8..A FEW TIMES
WITH NO SUCCESS..
10. IN THAT MENU WHERE U PRESSED DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL NB0 FILE THERE ARE TWO OPTION IN THERE THAT ARE LIKE WIPE CACHE AND FORMAT PARTITION SO I DID BOTH OF THOSE (NO SPECIAL ORDER) RESTARTED AND I THING IT DID THE SAME THING JUST KEPT CYCLING..
11. SO I DID STEPS 5-8 AGAIN AND IT MAY HAVE BOOT CYCLED LIKE 3 TIMES BUT AFTER THAT IT BOOTS GREAT..
THE PHONE BOOTS UP AND SHUTS DOWN PERFECTLY SO THIS DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A TEMPORARY THING..
I WANTED TO DISPLAY MY TRIAL AND ERROR TO HELP YOU OUT.. NOW I DIDN'T TRY IT ANY DIFFERENT WAY SO IM JUST TELLING YOU WHAT I DID BECAUSE IT WORK FOR ME..
WARNING:NOW BY DOING THIS YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THE CDMA RADIO WILL NOT WORK (BECAUSE THE FIRMWARE IS FOR A GSM PHONE) ... BUT WIFI SEEMS TO WORK..BOTH CAMERAS WORK FINE...THERE IS NO BUILT IN RADIO IN THE TRIUMPH BUT THE FIRMWARE SUPPORTS ONE ( ALL YOU GET IS STATIC SO ITS PROBABLY THE MAGNETIC SENSOR IN THE PHONE).. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT OCCUR TO YOUR PHONE..
ANY QUESTIONS JUST ASK.. I WANT TO SEE IF I CAN GET SOME REALLY SMART PEOPLE TO HELP ME FIGURE OUT IF THERE'S A WAY TO MAKE THE CDMA RADIO WORKING.. SO IT WILL BE PERFECT..
This is truly good news - definitely a step in the right direction! I don't care about CM7 - I just want a vanilla GB ROM!
Do you have CWM installed? Would it be possible to post a nandroid backup?
A few other OEM ROMs and tools are available here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1985476
Kernel Source and a few other items for the Non-Motorola variant of the Foxconn FB400 can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/FB400
Not sure if that source will help us at all, but it might!
Isaac, who is working on the CM7 port, is asking if the OP can do a system dump so he can look at it.
Here's a link to the thread where he asked:

FWIW, CM7 is basically a vanilla GB ROM.
To the OP:
Are you able to flash back to the original ROM? I'm hesitant to flash it as I don't know what the nb0 file contains. It might change partitions on the phone that I don't want it changing.
I'd like to extract the nb0 file to see what's in it. I don't know how it's done on Linux. However, if you can give me a nandroid backup of the GB ROM, I can extract the system and boot images.
i have found a few stock roms but haven't installed them because i use my other triumph to download them and trying to download 71.6mbs with sprints 3g is not so easy but i will start downloading and give it a try...also i have not done anything else to the phone except root it (when it had stock rom on it) but now i dont think that matters... what is the menu called when you hold down all the buttons i keep forgeting the name? i think there is a custom one but i haven't installed it yet... is a nandroid backup when i go in download mode and copy files? specifically what files? thank you
i will try and set the phone back to stock.. and try the cherry mobile gingerbread rom to see if it works

No, you'll have to install CWM. Download the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16248758&postcount=428
Follow these instructions: http://androidforums.com/3016785-post115.html
Once you've accomplished that, make sure the GB ROM is still installed and run a nandroid backup. Upload the system.img and boot.img files.
