Hello guys, I have an Xperia Z2 running CM12.1. My phone for about 2 months has started doing these random touches on the keyboard, navigation bar etc. It mostly happens when I have moist fingers/sweaty (my fingers are moist nearly all the time), I don't think this is the issue here since I had an HTC One M7 before it and it was working perfectly in any conditions except if I drop water on it. I also would like to mention that I have a garbage tempered glass that is always dirty, sticky and just plain bad. I had a better one on the M7. I just wanted to know if the tempered glass is the problem here before I do anything. Can changing screen sensitivity or something fix it? I'm up for any external mods to fix this issue as it makes the phone quite unusable when my fingers are sweaty. Thanks in advance.

After a month of use, my phone's screen got scratch just for putting it in and taking it out of my pocket. I spent the last 2 or 3 hours searching on google and found a whole lot of unverified home methods to repair it. I was wondering if there is any method that the users here tried.
The scratch is visible and it blurs and darkens anything displayed under it. The touch screen works fine, though
It would be fine if you tell your device
I think it's a touch screen and touch screen devices cannot be repaired from scratches.. it only damages the screen or has no effect
/edit:
or it looks worse than before
I used car polish and got most of it out, at least it doesn't blur stuff underneath it anymore
omg and your screen isn't blind yet?
what phone do you use?
haha. I've got a Sony Ericsson X8. I first tried toothpaste, but it didn't do anything. So I guessed that it had to be something more abrasive and the polish did it.
Over on another (swedish) forum we're seeing some rather disturbing reports of screens cracking for seemingly no reason.
Some have reported cracks after simply placing their phone on a table, others by just having it in their pocket.
Do we have XDA member with similar experiences?
Given the number of times it has dropped from the table because it's so rediculously slippery, to no ill effect on the glass, it doesn't seem too bad. I might have been lucky, though.

It doesn't crack easily, but it seems to happen yeah.
I know this was an issue with the Z2 as well (know 1 or 2 ppl suffering from it) and hope it's not a wide-spread one with the Z3. The fact that it performs as some hoovercraft thingie floating over flat services is kinda annoying though, fell a few times here as well already but luckily no damage so far.
phones have glass screens. Glass screens break on some occasions. Water is wet.
add every report you can find and what do we get? 20? lets make it 100. Of 100 000 phones sold (which is serious lowballing) that is 0.1%.
so even if it seems bad it's not really an issue
As long as iitgets repaired by Sony you mean....
of course, like on the z2.
i think a lot of people are just careless.. i mean who buys this type of phone and already in less than 2 days of owning it, they managed to cracked the screen by dropping it or sitting on it while in their pocket. sh*t happens but if people were more careful i doubt we'd be seeing all these 'broken screen' threads.
IMO the z2 was one of the most sturdy glass screen phones ever, this z2 drop test is pretty amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BGQtfDZNt4
so unless something in the glass was changed between the two versions i don't see how the z3 can be any worse than the z2.
Well I accidentally tested the sturdiness of the phone when I pulled my jacket up and forgot that phone was on top of it. Well nice 1,5m fall with some momentum and not a single scratch. Phew.
Its Gorilla Glass 3, so I don't think it should be any weaker or stronger than other Gorilla Glass 3 phones out there. Any quality issues is probably Corning's fault.
Update: according to Sony they use both Gorrila glass 3 and Dragontrail glass. I have heard Dragontrail is slightly less scratch resistant but thats about it.

On the contrary, Dragontail is harder than GG3...... resists scratches more - but at the detriment to viewing angle quality which is why DT is on the back.
I didnt't notice ANY scratch resistance of the glass backplane. Just use it carefully for a few days - enjoy a nice collection of scratches to stay. Deeply disappointing.
Agreed, seems no matter how careful I am it'll just pick up tiny scratches on the back..seemingly from little specs of dust..I don't understand.

There is a table in this link, it shows GG3 as being higher on the hardness scalle by small amount over Dragontrail.

Wow, you guys are scaring me.
I think the cracked screen problem is not from dropping it, or sitting on it. It's that the screen cracks by itself even when just sitting on a table somewhere. People are blaming the temperature difference between a hot phone and a cool surface for stressing the glass and cracking it.
I dunno, I'm in no hurry to upgrade just yet, we'll see.

I posted some pics in another thread here. Hoping it's just a fault with the device

BBC Watchdog did a story on this for the Z1, now there are new complaints coming in about similar issues on the Z3.
BBC Watchdog link for Z1:

I chose this phone over the M8 due to the Camera, I kept insureance for the Z3 with T-Mobile just in case I get this issue when my phone arrives. Depending on how things turn out with more and more people complaining, I might just have to get the M8.
HTC gives free one time cracked/damaged screen replacement within 6 months in US as part of HTC Advantage. Sony should do the same, especially with their screen issues.
There are theories about uneven expansion of surfaces under heat stress causing cracks due to the way the glass is glued.
I have not experienced the cracking issue but I did notice a scratch on the glass on the back of the phone not even a week after getting it. It's not too bad, and not even really visible in direct light, but you bet I slapped a case on that thing as fast as I could.

I'm sure its a minority getting this issue but still seems to be a lot more than other manufacturers which is alarming. I made my dad get the HTC M8 over the iPhone 6 just for HTCs' Advantage program of one time free screen replacement.
I'm so glad I bought the white version because I can barely see the scratches on the back! It used to drive me crazy on my old black Z1 :silly:
Hello. My new Xperia Z5 seems to be working great so far.
I noticed that the back panel is slightly lifted on the top right corner to the point where you cannot feel where it meets the plastic side. If you push it down, you can feel where it meets the rim but after a while it returns to its normal position.
There also a noticeable gap on the left side and top left where dust seems to get in. The rest of the panel seems to fit fine.
Is anyone else having these problems? I'm mainly worried about it affecting the waterproofing.
Thanks.
i had that issue with my xperia Z2 but not with the Z5 that i own now...but i have a bright white spot on my screen and it appeared few days ago LOL going to sony service ASAP

Did it cause any problems? Waterproofing etc.
well i went in the water for about 30 min and i can tell u it worked till 30 mins and then the screen started to flicker and went emediatly out of water cuz it would break of course. i had water inside the phone so i had to dry it on the sun... so i think it can cause problems if u ask me...but at the end i wouldnt recomend u submerging the phone or geting it wet cuz its not made for that...its made for sudden drops in the water and thats mostly it!!hope i cleared ur mind
Hi all
My moto Maxx has gone through a lot, but the strangest problem yet started yesterday.
As you can see on the attached video, half of the screen is constantly scrolling. This happens in fastboot and recovery mode as well, so I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem.
The digitizer still works perfectly, and registers touch where the icon or button should be positioned on the screen. The moving screen also does show everything correctly, just in this crazy scrolling way.
I'm not very hopeful in fixing it, but was wondering if anyone has ever seen this, and if you guys think this is a broken display(and any way to test this?) or a broken GPU. If it is in fact the display, I might consider replacing it.
Some background on all the terrible things I did to this phone:
- Dropped it and cracked screen in September.
- Replaced the glass myself, slightly burned display when removing glass without any consequences (just a tiny mark on the top right, the side that actually still works).
- Dropped again, broke glass again, never bothered to fix it, some small pieces are missing so dust, sweat,.. could've gotten int.
Video:
Most likely the display being broken.
Even when my tempered glass protector is missing chunks the screen starts to funk up. Only worse being the real screen especially the digitizer.
You might be right pjd, or at least screen related.
I opened it up yesterday evening, and I think it might be the cable connecting the screen. Depending on how I positioned the screen and thus the angle at which the cable was bent, it was fixed, the same, or just completely black.
The only thing I have to try to find out now is if it's the kabel, or the connector on the motherboard. Any suggestions on how I could test that are welcome!

i did but it didnt help... i discharged the phone and drained the battery and see if this will help
thank you
Broken OGS screen probably. Maybe some screen protector can help you to distribute electricity evenly and touches should stop, or if you have on applied remove it.

well, i do not have any screen protector or tempered glass on the screen!
but how the OGS would be broken?
it doesn't look broken!
This is common problem in OGS screen and it happens when touch loose grounding in some spot. In short, it starts to unglue from screen and frame due to heating, bending, other influences.
Try to apply some sort of screen protector and to see if it will settle. These are just ideas how to fix it temporarily, not permanently.
I have the same problem

I have the same problem
Is not a software problem, it is a hardware one. Need to get repaired.
Having the ghost touch problem- will warranty cover the issue? Not 12 months old yet...
I did notice that touching some areas of the screen will trigger the ghost touch, especially if playing a game.
Ghost Touch Problem on Xperia XA1 Ultra
This phone is perfect from almost every way but the GHOST TOUCH PROBLEM is making my life a living hell in just 2 weeks from the purchase. I think SONY is making FAULTY mobiles. They made an entire line of Faulty Hard Drives on VAIO laptop series which I have suffered previously. Can't believe 007 uses this phone imagine him having GHOST TOUCH problems in a crisis moment.
PS I tried everything and it doesn't stop. At least 10 times everyday, removed screen protector and case. RUBBISH SONY!
