Is it possible to manipulate a game for it to work on a newer version of Android? I loved playing Zombieville USA but it hasn't worked since Kitkat. Is there any work-around for this sort of thing? Thank you.

Hi,
Wondering if anybody would be interested to port the great classic game Paradroid to our Android platform. If I would be able, I would do it myself, but without programmer know how ... Good thing is that there is already a Linux version available (incl. source code), so this should not be so difficult or?

For sure you might play it via Frodo C64, but a standalone app is much better.
Anybody?

I played Paradroid 90 for the Amiga. I would try it if it were available, but not particularly enough to hold my breath for it. I'm not sure if in all of my Amiga emulation if I already have the Amiga version still.
Greetings all,
As a massive community of Android overlords, this seemed like a good place to post this random thought.
As everyone knows, Netflix does not support linux. While it's been leaked that Chrome OS will provide netflix compatability, that development thread has since been locked, and somehow I am dubious about when or if this will ever materialize.
In just the past few days, Netflix announced an app for certain android phones, which one of your number promptly hacked and made available for most android phones. I think it was "ftep", and bravo to you, dude.
The nearest solution for netflix on Android is to run WinXP in a virtual machine - alot of overhead for a simple video player. But now that there is an app for android, I immediately thought - Android x86. If the player app could run there, it might be possible set up an Ax86 virtual machine to watch netflix in Linux, without the massive overhead of an XP VM.
I wish I had the technical know-how to take this on. I did install VMware and got an Ax86 virtual machine running 2.2, but none of the netflix apps, modded or original, would install. That's where I hit a brick wall.
So just an idea. Any takers?
Thanks!
TM
I actually was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago. Was searching and found this post. I'm working on it right now, will get back to you as soon as I make any (if any) progress.
Any updates? Most interested!
Did anything ever come of this? Apparently, running an ARM Android emulator for the Netflix app won't play video. I was hoping Ax86 would do the trick, but I haven't been able to find anyone who's pulled it off just yet.
BUUUUUUMP!!!
Don't know if this helps but AFAIK the netflix app uses native ARM code and therefore won't run on AndroidX86. I have an Android-X86 tablet now and I know the original won't run.

Hope this helps
Hello everyone,
I recently lost my phone and i cannot afford a new device at least before two weeks from now, so i borrowed a Galaxy Y Pro Duos from a friend , and i really need to have the ability of testing my game before sending it to the client (i work as a freelancer) i know that with unity i can simply build an Android apk and then just deploy it on real device, but to avoid bad surprises i must test the game before sending it,
I looked everywhere and all the solutions are about converting games built in unity 3.x, but i cannot do that either cause i am using the new 2D feature of unity 4.3 .
So if there a way to make the game compatible with an ARMv6 device OR some magical solution that make me able to test the game on emulators that would be a much more better!!
thank you very much and have a great day.
Andy has a problem. Game devs can help. Now that tablets are powerful and cheap enough, many users are using them with keyboard and mice to have a small desktop experience. Problem is most devs only write code for touch controls. This makes trying to play a game with keyboard and mouse a real chore.
There are a couple of ways to do that all based as far as I know, on having to buy someones software that will help you configure the mouse and keyboard to work with your game. It should NOT be this way. All Andy games should have both touch controls and keyboard and mouse controls enabled. It's silly not to do so - you limit your potential sales which is dumb.
Come on guys.. whats the deal? Why haven't we seen a push to add this functionality to most Andy games? Is it simply because up till now there hasn't been a lot of call for non touch screen peripherals? It seems to me, when small Android Phones morphed into it's sister product, larger more powerful Android Tablets - Android developers failed to make a distinction and treat their apps accordingly. Now there is and will be an ever growing distinction between the two because tablets are getting bigger and more powerful. Will you guys be willing to do this, now that keyboard and mouse use on Android is becoming more wide spread?
You guys better consider this - there are tablets now being sold that will dual or triple boot between Android, Windows and almost any version of Linux you can imagine. People will not only want but Need this functionality in games who choose not to rely so heavily on the touch controls.
Console OS (looks like they are partnering with Intel) is shipping in Dec on real tablet hardware and has a free version PC users can download. Console OS is an Android fork that's designed for gaming and to dual boot with Windows - but it's designed to be powerful enough in style and function to replace your everyday desktop. That's impressive. This will be huge and cause Android Games to require mouse and keyboard support even more. We know the public wants this because this was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign raising 75.000 dollars.
A simple enough solution to help get more sales for your games is a no brainer seems to me. The Windows and Linux guys will play their games with mouse and keyboard on that same hardware, but they will not buy the Android games. You will lose half your new potential customer base. This will also encourage the user to stay within that Windows or Linux system and Not switch so much into Android. Not doing this can actually hurt the Android market share and use!
What do you think?
(This thread is not a question but hopefully will start a serious discussion on this issue. Mods please feel free to move this to the Gaming subforum.. I think you have one but I cannot seem to find it since I signed up.)
A few days ago I came across the Libgdx website: http://libgdx.badlogicgames.com/features.html. They claim they provide a framework that allows to develop in Android and the application will automatically be compatible in iOS. Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to test it and before acquiring one I would like to know if it really works as advertised.
Has anyone tried it? in that case, is true all that's written there and it's so easy to make compatible apps?
Thanks!
Yes it works
