LS996 Texting problems on T-Mobile?? - LG G Flex 2

My LS996, rooted with ZV6, is having issues sending SMS text messages on T-mobile. Occasionally it just wont send a sms text. My signal is fine but out of no where it just fails sending. Network mode is set to Global. To fix this issue, I have to switch network mode to GSM/UMTS. Once I do that, the message will send fine. I can then switch back to Global mode and texting seems to be ok. I've tried different text clients such as Textra, stock messenger, and Hangouts and all have the same issue.
I have Bands 2 ,4, and 12 enabled. Everything else works fine. I can also send MMS messages with no issues. And the SMS issue doesn't happened all the time. I'll have days where all works fine, then for no reason, it refuses to send until network mode is changed.
Has anyone else ran into this problem? Any ideas how to fix this as it gets annoying having to switch over to GSM/UMTS mode just to send a text.
Any help work be appreciated.
Thanks!

At least I know I'm not the only one. I cant determine if its a T-Mobile network issue or what. Are you also using ZV6?
I wondered if I unrooted and received the updates to ZV9 if that would fix the problem.

I'm on ZV6. I'll ask my wife if she has the same issues, same phone

update to zv9 am on tmobile aswell everyyhing works well....or go get another sim from tmobile and say ur old sim is malfunction...they will do it for free

I'm on ZV6 and mine just did the exact same thing as well. Was working fine for a month and a half. Ever find a cause/solution?

I haven't had the problem for the last week so I haven't tried anything else. But no, I never did find a solution. If it becomes an issue again, I'll probably do the process of unrooting and updating to ZV9 to see if that helps. But I'm hoping I dont have to.

[Q] Hangouts MMS issues when on wifi. Does no one else notice this!?

Sending pictures through hangouts and using group messaging work fine without wifi, but once im connected to wifi, I cant send a picture. I've searched every and i've either found nothing or found someone mention it with no response to his post.
I've already tried restarting the phone, removing the SIM, reseting APNs to default, uninstalling updates on hangouts and reinstalling. There is no APN option in the actual hangouts app like other phones might have.
If someone knows how to fix this, please share. I've always used hangouts and this sucks.
I'm having the sames issues..even not on wifi. Just started less than 24 hours ago, and I've tried all the things on here as well :/ Hopefully someone has some advice!

My friend has the phone as well and has the same issue. So im assuming its an issue across all verizon devices, but it doesnt seem to be a very big deal in the M8 community

I noticed this problem from day 1. Hangouts doesn't seem to work with MMS... it retries to send each message for 5-10 minutes before succeeding. It also seems to have problems with group messages... sometimes it starts a new thread of messages when someone replies to a group message via MMS.
It's a shame that the interface of the Verizon Messages app is horrible... it is a very promising concept, but the app was very poorly executed. I like the idea of being able to forward text messages to other devices. I'm still waiting to S-OFF my phone until there is a reliable method for going back to S-ON. As soon as I make the leap, I'll probably be using the CM10.2 messaging app.
It does this for me as well since day one. Seems to be an HTC M8 thing only, as my Note 3 works fine with Hangouts and MMS over wifi yet.
Same here. Having the same problem.

This is same problem to me.
i dont think MMS send when only on wifi. I always see it connect to 3G/4G when i have an MMS to send. I agree, Hangouts MMS on the M8 is super difficult, but i don't think MMS will send solely on wifi.
MMS work fine on the default app, but try turning off mobile data and sending one.
having this problem too , any fix available?
So this problem happened on kitkat on the DNA also, and the solution was to delete/uninstall Google Play Movies / TV. I tried this and it didn't work -_-
Same here. Having the same problem.
I'm having the same problem (I think). I cannot send or receive MMS messages through Hangouts while my phone is connected to Wi-Fi.
I'm on T-Mobile, and I thought Wi-Fi calling might be the issue. Doesn't seem to be the case though.
Here's what I've tried for Hangouts:
-Wi-Fi on and connected - Wi-Fi calling enabled and set to Wi-Fi Preferred [FAIL]
-Wi-Fi on and connected - Wi-Fi calling enabled and set to Cellular Network Preferred [FAIL]
-Wi-Fi on and connected - Wi-Fi calling off [FAIL]
-Wi-Fi off [SUCCESS]
I had the M8 on T-Mobile and had to return the phone because of this limitation. It exists an all M8's regardless of carrier.
I decided to contact HTC support and the rep confirmed that you MUST be connected to a mobile network to use group messaging. This is truly an oversight by HTC. I don't have this issue on any other phone.
So, just to clarify, this is not a carrier's problem, this is M8's?
I was just thinking to use it. Maybe, I'll just stick on what I have.
Thanks for this.

That's correct.

Nexus 5 on Sprint is no longer sending or receiving SMS

My phone has suddenly decided to no longer send or receive sms at all on Sprint. I've been running Sabermodded SlimKat for months with no issues whatsoever and just the other day SMS suddenly stopped. It says the text sends in any messaging app I use but it never actually seems to send. If I try to text myself to test it also I get no messages back when though it says they all send. The weird thing is MMS is working fine, I can send myself pictures and any one of my contacts, but I do not see their SMS messages or my own, none are getting through. I tried wiping and flashing over to 5.0 (Cataclysm) instead and I still cannot send sms. I've tried updating my PRL and Profile many times, Reflashing a flashable Sprint APN zip, manually setting APN in hangouts, messenger, textra, qksms etc. I've tried flashing different radios on 4.4.4 (before I flashed 5.0 now I just have the final L preview radio) and I have even tried removing the sim card and rebooting before placing it back in. Has anyone encountered this issue before? I am at a loss.
Try downgrading to 1x only and see if it works?

Just tried it, sms still isn't going through, 1x only 3g only or LTE only.
Might try going back to the stock rom and seeing if it works then. That would probably be the easiest way to make sure it isn't the device or the rom you are using.
Are you able to make calls?
Does the data connection work still?
Was texting removed/blocked on your account?

Did you take an OTA? Update to Lollipop? If so, you may need to flash the Sprint fix.
After a lot of trial and error I ended up calling sprint since I've never had just sms fail while mms still worked. Turns out my MIN number wiped itself (somehow?) and have since gotten it resolved. Sadly I don't really have the slightest idea how it happened since I had been using the same kitkat rom as my daily driver for months. Thanks for the suggestions and attempts to figure out what was wrong.

MMS Stopped working two days ago

A few bits of information to start.
- I have been on the same ROM and same settings for over a year (including APN)
- I use ChompSMS, but have uninstalled it as part of testing
- I have tested both on and off of WiFI
- I am on StraightTalk
- I used a different APN than what they have on their site, and when this started, I updated to the one they list there now, but the problem remained the same on both options.
Now, my problem, for the past two days, any MMS (I believe based on past history that these are group conversations, not individual MMS messages), are not downloading. Using the built in Messanger application I get an error that it cannot download the message. With ChompSMS, installed, I get the message that it cannot download MMS and to check my APN settings. I tested sending myself an image MMS, and that both sent and got received. Other than that test, I've got nothing the past two days other than that error from Chomp (or nothing from the built in) at the rate of 4-5 times every 30 minutes (the approx rate I'd normally get a message in a group text).
What I have left to try:
- I'm using SMS Backup & Restore to backup my SMS/MMS and then I'm going to wipe out the database and restore my messages
However, anyone have any other ideas what might be wrong or what I can do to fix this?

Do you happen to use PushBullet? If so, uncheck "SMS sync" and reboot. That always causes issues for me.

Unfortunately no. I don't have anything that could have caused this. Since Saturday, I've only updated "Reddit is fun golden platinum", "dolphin browser", and "power toggles" (installed, but never run).
The above was on Sunday
The problem began on Tuesday afternoon.
Prior to that, it was working.

Apparantly I'm not the only straight talk user that has this issue.
Don't know what it is though :\

I'm assuming it is something with Marshmallow and Cricket causing the issue. My Nexus 5 on Cricket won't receive MMS if WiFi is on. If I leave WiFi off, I can receive and send MMS fine. My wife has a Moto X on Lollipop on Cricket and can receive MMS fine with WiFi on.
My situation was very similar to yours in that MMS was working fine for weeks after I upgraded to 6.0. It then just stopped randomly. I still have not found a work around other than disabling WiFi.

That's not the same issue.
This is an issue affecting all (most) of straight talk, and has nothing to do with the phone or the setting.
Wifi on/off doesn't have an effect.
So, it's not a phone issue, just a Straight Talk one.

This is my exact life, please let me know if you figure it out better. I do think Pushbullet was screwing me up too, even just having it installed without SMS sync.
MMS always downloaded fine with Pushbullet installed, but since upgrading to Marshmallow, I haven't been able to download a single MMS on my N5. I'm on T-Mobile, not Straight Talk.
Are you sure it's not related to the more-widespread issue of MMS not working with WiFi on?
EDIT: See here.
Actually having this problem on mine as well now (AT&T). Had auto updates off. Nothing changed to my knowledge. Just not downloading some MMS' in Google Messenger. Some it will download. Standard txt's seem fine? Have a group of about 4 under a user category (this is usually where various threads/contacts are shown in Messenger) "message not found". Then under known contacts, I had 4 labeled as "couldn't download" - "touch to download" - which upon touching, state "downloading"... which at some point fails (like, lots longer later - 10 minutes +, and states the msg size is 709KB?)
Also, just noted the "more-widespread issue of MMS not working with WiFi on". Will investigate this possibility.
edit: my wifi has been off. So, not a culprit with my particular problem.
Yup, standard SMS works, but the only way I can get MMS to work in any client is to cycle WiFi and reboot. It's an enormous bug.

You are not really helping with your situation. Are you stock, flashed anything, issue just randomly start, using stock messaging app etc? More information you supply the easier it would be to help out.
Ok Ducter my bad, is ok I was told to register network and that did it… mughtykc I suggest you do the same… thank you ☺
still not able to send MMS or recieve since the last update
im 100% stock, have a few appls disabled with package disabler pro,
ive enabled everything to see if maybe something i did was the problem
cant send MMS or recieve them, always get a failed to download, try again message
ive played with different APN settings and "registered" the network and still nothing
ive tried different messaging apps
Hangouts
Google messenger
Stock Samsung messenger
etc etc
edit:
got curious, called Tmobile, i ended up factory wiping the device, still the same problem
going to go with a new Sim card and see if that fixes anything

Weird issue can not recieve text messages

Ok so my p40 pro arrived today and i put my sim card in (using straight talk byop at&t sim). i can make calls and use data , i can also send text messages. but the phone will not receive any text messages.
so far i've did the following
factory reset the phone
reset network settings
tried manually entering APN settings
i even tried using Textra
None have worked, whats weird is i got rid of my Mate 30 pro last week and texting worked fine on that phone. Anyone have any suggestions that may help fix the issue?
Ok so i figured out the issue ,and thought id post it here in case anyone has the issue and gets frustrated not being able to receive messages .
so apparently now you have to treat google messages like apples iMessage. you have to "diasble" chat features on google messages before switching sim into a phone that doesn't support google messages natively. i wasn't aware of this needing to be done especially since i had a mate 30 pro 2 weeks ago that i stuck my sim in and it worked perfectly with texting.
so just a heads up if anyone has this same issue like i did.
I imagine the network message settings are wrong, here in the UK they have outgoing and incoming settings, I would compare the message service number from your old handset
