This is not my forum, I don't have one yet, I have the bell, samsung galaxy s2 hd lte. It's a brand new device 9 days old, it started yesterday saying "no sim card inserted " I had you pull the battery and sim card then reboot, it was fine again for 12 hours now it's happened twice?? Anyone else experienced this??
Our phones are similar, bell said get a new sim, which I will tomorrow, however after a Google search this seems to be a popular error with the s2.
Thanks

Are you on the stock ROM? Are you rooted? Did you flash anything to the phone or change the ROM, Kernel, or modem? If you haven't done any of this, I would try the new SIM card. If that doesn't work, exchange the phone. If you have done something, try going back to stock and see if it resolves the issue. Alot of times it comes down to the modem / radio being mismatched to a ROM or Kernel.
im having the same problem, the way to fix it is odin flash the firmware from sammobile, buttt i cant connect my phone via usb anymore thus im stuck with this problem ;(
2 Possible Solutions(Easy Fix)
1, wait out the data outage in your area. We are on ATT and having the same exact issue and when I called 611(Customer Service) the automated answering system told me that they are currently experiencing data outages in my area. could be due to a tower/service upgrade being that 4G is coming out in more areas now.
2, call 611 and set up your phone model with the customer service rep at the technical support extension.
I would put a 3rd option... but I haven't tried flashing a new rom yet, I just got the Skyrocket as a free refurb from Insurance and I am currently on an unrooted stock GB ROM.
yes flashing to original rogers tar using odin did fix it.. but if i try other roms its broken again, so for now it looks like ill have to stay with the original firmware
If you flash the ucle2 modem in SeanZscreams post it will most likely fix the issue on each Rom you flash as long as you flash the modem after.

To check to see if its your SIM card, use a USB Adapter or microSD -> SD adapter. Back up all your files then reformat it using: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ and then put back all your stuff and try again.
try this or other plp that have this problem try this pliz an coment

The error message that said I needed to insert a valid sim card happened again today while traveling home.
The good news is I think I figured it out!
The Galaxy S4 requires a "nfc" enabled sim card!
You can't tell by looking at the tiny sim but the larger card the sim comes in has a notation of "nfc" if it's the right card.
I hung out in the Verizon store after inserting it and the drove home "an hour drive" and absolutely no errors!
And I maintained a 4g signal throughout my whole trip which was through some back country where signal is usually marginal.
This is a pretty serious problem for Verizon.
Why?
1. Because if I would have ran around in safe mode it still would have errored.
2. If I would have reformatted to factory settings... The same... All for nothing and days of configuration lost.
3. If I got another new phone, again the same.... All because I would be using my same sim card.!
I'm sure many replace the whole phone "and" sim together and when it works it's assumed the problem was the phone or software.
What a terrible headache for the customer, tech support, and verizon customer service just because people don't know the proper sim card needed for the S4!

I have the 727 galaxy ii and started having the same no sim inserted message. Running stock, never rooted or anything. Turns out my solution was to reflow the solder around the sim card and that got it going again.
I'm in India right now on vacation. I own a rogers s2 lte. Recently I've been getting random popup messages saying my Sim card has been removed and i need to restart the phone. Thing is I did remove the Sim card for a minute or so a few days ago but I'm still on the same rogers Sim card and the phone is in flight mode the entire time. Its annoying for this to happen. Any ideas?
It could be a ROM or radio issue. Could also be a sim card slot issue, bent or broken pins etc.
Wish I could help, but you need to give more info. Are you running stock or a rom? Have you dropped it recently? It could be software or hardware, but nobody can help you if you don't give any info.

How many people have had to get a new SIM card to get their phone working properly?
How many different reasons have a new SIM card been needed for?
I've heard of a lot of people needing a new SIM card to receive the OTA.
I had to get a new SIM card as my phone would no longer switch to 4G.
Is there a hardware or software issue with this phone causing SIM cards to malfunction?
Is there anyone who's needed a SIM card replaced that has Not flashed or rooted their phone in anyway?
thanks,
I needed one to be able to check for updates.

Do you root and flash roms or other things on your phone?
I'd like to narrow down if this only happens on phones where that is done.
and then to nail down what we are flashing that is wrecking these sim cards if that is the common factor.
I had to get one once I went back to stock to receive ota. I do run a custom rom normally.

Mine is fine, but the other three in my household after receiving g7 can no longer check for updates. I wonder if Samsungs "no sim fix" somehow killed them. All three are unrooted, and never have been.
I have not yet replaced their sims.
Odin'd back to stock to receive updates, had to get a new sim in order for it to work. I run custom as well. I think it has something to do with how the sims are identified on the LTE network since Sprint and At&t don't have this issue.

Never rooted or ran a custom rom...100% stock. Someone mentioned that the update may have fried the sim cards....that's my thought as well.

Problem with that theory though is lots of people had to get a new sim card just to be able to take the ota.
Good to know this isn't necessarily cause from flashing roms and what not.
I also had the problem checking for OTA updates. I received the update just fine and then had the problem. I went to the Verizon store and the switched the SIM card out and problem was resolved.

Both my brother and I had to get new sim cards for 4g due to the phone warping our cards.
I had to get a new sim card when I upgraded from the galaxy nexus to the gs3. I believe it was because I had done a manual prl update when it was in the nexus. it seemed to work just fine in that phone but once I put it in the gs3 I couldn't get 4g unless I switched to 4g only.
I was on the latest OTA and I hadn't checked for an OTA since Oct. 3rd and tried yesterday and got a error. Went to Verizon and he said he didn't know if any issue with SIM cards being fried with GS3. I'm all stock and he argued that a new SIM wouldn't fix. I got him to do it anyways and now checking for updates works again. He still doesn't think it was a SIM card. But i beg to differ.

I have been getting a no SIM error on my Verizon Note 5. Probably happened 5 times in the past 2 weeks. Reboot temporarily fixes the problem.
Anyone else having a similar problem? I will probably try to get a new sim from Verizon.

No issue here. Have you re-inserted the SIM card? If that doesn't help take it to Verizon.

Happens to me at least 2-3 a week. Also drops from 4G to 3g, and sometimes my service doesn't even work. A coworker who has a Note 4 on Verizon mentions he has to restart his phone every few days as well because his connection just goes out sometime. I don't know if it's a software issue or if Verizon is just being ****ty right now
I finally got the sim replaced today. Hopefully this will fix it. Really don't want to reset the phone or exchange it.

I was at Verizon was out when my phone froze...waited 1.5hrs, when all needed to be done was hold the power button and the down volume button simultaneously to create a battery disconnect to reboot....I asked about this same issue as I was doing a system reboot when the Note 5 froze....she said the phone when not receiving service will automatically switch to "global" to maintain connection but can't switch back...need to go to settings->mobile networks->check the network mode to verify it's in the lte/cdma mode, if not select that.....IDK, it happened at my house where I have a network extender, so that shouldn't have happened.....saw this solution somewhere else....saying the slot may be a little loose causing the connection to be unreliable, I'd start w/ something thinner than copy paper first....or wait for the "masters" to comment....:
If there is a little room for SIM movement in the slot then the contacts between the phone and the SIM will not meet causing this issue. Try to cut a piece of paper the size of the SIM card and place it on top of the SIM ( not on the side where the gold connector is). Insert both in the SIM slot then check if the problem still occurs.
This happen with my galaxy 4, and i changed the sim card, but the problem still happened, now my new galaxy note 5 start the same way. Sucks
Me too
I have been having the same issue twice a day now for at least a week. Guess I need to make a trip to the Verizon Store.
I had this same problem, started out once a week, moved up to a few times a week, then finally when it was a few times a day I went and got a new sim. They told me if this doesnt work bring it back in and they will give me a "new used" phone.
2 weeks without the issue, phone bumps the nightstand a little too hard and starts happening again.
I pulled out the sim tray, cut a piece of packing tape to match its shape. Put the sim in and layered the tape over it. Seems to have resolved 99% of my "no sim" issues. I say 99% because it happened once in about 6 weeks since I taped the sim in place.
Recently my signal has dropped completely, and my phone will state that there is No SIM card detected. A few hours later sometimes I'll get a full 4G signal, and the error will go away. I thought it was merely a bad SIM card, so I flashed a clean stock ROM and went to the Verizon store and got a new SIM card. However, today the issue resurfaced, and I am now 6+ hours with "No SIM".
I've flashed new firmware, and even done a full RUU. Even when using the stock ROM I still get the "No SIM" message.

Great suggestion! However, I tried several iterations of super thin tape and various layers until I could hardly fit it inside. Same result. No SIM detected.

The day before I went to the Verizon store and swapped out SIM cards. Interestingly enough, when I walked into the store the SIM was detected, and the phone worked fine. I swapped the SIM anyways. The phone worked great for about 12 hours until the SIM pooped out again, and now it hasn't worked since. I might see if I can stop by the store again, since I already did another RUU and running stock.
*Update*
Just got back from the VZW store. New SIM card, and presto. Works like a charm....but for how long?
The tech said that it is likely a hardware issue, and suggests a replacement phone under warranty.
I suppose I now have to research how to do the true S-On factory reset process.

Do you hope I don't need the guide? Or hope I don't need to go through a warranty replacement?
If I get a factory replaced M8, the threat of toasting another SIM card goes away and I get a new phone.
However, I'll loose S-Off, and might have to try my luck with Sunshine, unless there's another method out there that has surfaced in the past year or so.
So far in this week my M8 has "fried" two separate SIM cards. I'm using a third right now after my second trip to the VZW store, and I'm eying my phone frequently, expecting to see the dreaded "No SIM Card" error once again. (going on 20 hours strong now under very very light use) However, it has the tenancy to die at the worst possible time, like calling for a ride from the airport. I haven't seen anything in any forums about this happening that is related to any setting, ROM, etc. I am leaning on the side that it is indeed hardware related.
I'm open ears as to anything I've overlooked, or any suggestions on how to avoid another SIM failure. For the time being, I might just use it until it kills my 3rd SIM card and go for a warranty replacement.

I know I'm late on this one, but had the same issue.
All I did was pull the sim, clean it with a qtip and alcohol and blew out the sim slot with a can of compressed air.
6 months later, no problem.
