Netflix keymap - Android Stick & Console Computers General

The android version of Netflix's player you find on google play is very difficult to use if you don't have a touch screen.
All the keyboard shortcut have been disabled! save for the <left> <right> and <esc> keys.
Perhaps there is some setting that can be configured in the file: /data/data/com.netflix.mediaclient/shared_prefs/nfxpref.xml
To enable keyboard controls and better yet allow some sort of keymap to "map keys to netflix functions like <pause>"
The remote I got with my android TV box is seen as a keyboard inside android.
In summary, Netflix performs well on Android TV boxes, but it’s very annoying to control.
I am sure many users face this problem with Netflix on generic Android TV box.
Has anybody managed to find a work around to this?
Thanks

There is a version of the netflix player for "Android TV" but it does not seem to work on regular android boxes.
Has a anybody ever managed to get com.netflix.ninja working on non certified devices?
Thanks,

The only solution so far I got is to switch from original ROM to Christian Troy's CM10 including Zulu99's DroidMote patches.
I am still not allowed to post links, so if you're interested, PM me.
Don't know how similar but I love Splashtop 2
I do not know what "DroidMote" is, but I use Unified Remote as my Android remote control. I watch a lot of stuff on my computer, hooked up to my TV, and it lets me use my Android keyboard as my computer keyboard, and the touch screen like a laptop's touch pad. It's a little jittery due to latency, I think, but it gets the job done. From the couch, I can open VLC's Media > Open and browse my local (PC's) file system and play music or video. The free app has some limitations but is usable enough. If you know VLC's keyboard controls, the basic input remote works well. Only, I use SwiftKey Flow, and sometimes it doesn't send key presses to the system (it wants to build a word). I have a Tasker profile to open the keyboard selector when Unified Remote opens, but it's annoying, so I have it disabled presently.

Unified Remote has nothing to do with DroidMote. (I use both.)

Remote desktop with programmable buttons.

Thanks for any help. I am looking for a app with programable buttons to play pc games from my android. I had one a long time ago but I can't remember it. What I mean by programmable buttons are this, like I use to be able to put a track pad on screen to control mouse movements, with adding any button to the touch screen like mouse click wsad. Etc. Thank you for the help. What I really am doing is wanting to control my pc through my phone on the couch which is to far from my pc and I don't want a wireless keyboard .
I found one, called splashtop hd gaming, but it wasn't on the play store cause it told me it wasn't compatible with my device. I found it on a weird site and downloaded it for free and it works fine and what I wanted, but I would like to have the play store version for 9.99, any way to by pass Google's obviously bad attempt to tell people what apps will and will not work on our own devices?
I use Unified Remote. Can't remember how much i paid for it, its been a while. But it works really well, and has various styles of remotes you can use. Media player remotes, Hulu, Netflix, Simple mouse control and keyboard, etc. There is a free version as well, that lacks some of the remotes, but you can give it a try before you buy.

Universal remote.

Can't run Android TV apps (WWE Network)

Hi, so I have a Shield Tablet (stock, not rooted) and want to watch WWE Network from outside the US, but the WWE Android app requires GPS verification that though I can fake, but the process takes very very long every time I select another video to watch and for some reason the streaming quality is always in SD.
There is a WWE Network app on Google Play for Android TV that doesn't have the GPS verification, but I can't download it with a non-Android TV device. So I grabbed it somewhere else and sideloaded it to my tablet. It did install, but I can't open it. The "Open" text in the window that comes up after sideloading an apk is greyed out or missing (can't remember anymore), and the app is nowhere to be found besides in the app management settings.
I mean, why can't I run the app? Afaik Android TV is a restricted version of the full Android, so the full Android should be able to run Android TV apps, right?. Is there a hack that lets me run Android TV apps on my tablet? Can I perhaps install Android TV on my tablet if nothing else works?
Appreciate any help. Thanks!
Anyone please?

Force Plex into Android TV mode

Hello all,
I think the title says it all. I have an old device that I would like to hook up to an extra tv for the sole purpose of using it for Plex. The kicker of it all is, I do not find the Plex Moble/Tablet interface to work all that well with a remote. Is it possible to enable or somehow trick Plex into thinking that this device is something like a Nexus Player, or some sort of other trick to force it into that interface?
That would be great!
i second that ! ... is there ? or maybe its an options on a certain version ?

Oh, hey. I actually know how to do this. Er - you need to put the attached file into system/etc/permissions. This should trick the Plex app into running into leanback mode.
Okay, one of those two files will do the trick. I forget which, but it's one of those.
What versions of android does this support?
I just had a look at the Raspberry Pi Android TV build, and this was the only file I could find in /etc/permissions that had anything to do with Android TV.
The build I ripped it from was Android 6.0.1
I have also included the LeanbackLauncher.

Plex actually has it as option in the settings.
settings -> General -> Application Layout
The choices are "mobile" or 'TV"
But does anyone know how to do change it so that "all" apps think they are on a TV box?
Arggh , more reading less thinking next time.
It looks like the xml file you attached might do the trick.
I will try it out for some of my other problematic apps.
Thanks
i have the inphic i5 running 4.4.2 I dropped both files but Netflix still thinks it is on a phone.
Any suggestions?
If you're okay with spending a couple dollars
Buy the app "App Cloner" in the Play Store
Then download plex and choose it in the App Cloner app
Go down the options and enable "Enable TV Version"
This should work if you install it on your device

Cursor problem with android TV Box

I have a coolead android TV box which is great except that when navigating pages the cursor is too small for me to see it properly even on a 48" UHD TV
Is there any app or method I can use to make the android cursor more visible - ideally bigger or prominent colour. The device runs Android 5.2? I am sorry if this is the wrong place but I couldn't find anything about Android TV boxes
The problem is academic now
because I have returned this box - the third of three I have tried. Although I am a huge android fan I feel it is a horrible interface to use as a TV Platform. Many of the apps do not work that well and many will not even download. It strikes me that it is not really Android TV but an android tablet directing output to a TV screen. There seems to be virtually nothing on the play store that is designed to provide a TV type experience. Even the much vaunted Kodi I found to be a rather hit and miss area when it comes to finding content and in most cases there seems to be no indication of whether the content is legal or no. I suspect from the number of links that simply do not work that it operates more with illegal content than anything. I bought the boxes because I wrongly thought that ITV Hub and Channel 4 were not available on the Amazon fire stick but it now turns out that they are and my information was wrong. The moderately priced stick gives me 90% of what is missing from my new Budget 4k smart TV and so I am giving up on Android (except as presented on fire stick which has a much more TV appropriate interface)
