I have a Nexus 5 running 6.0.1, stock, non-rooted.
Since around the time I got marshmallow I think, I have been hitting the error -505 in the google play store on random apps as they are updating.
"insert app cant be installed. Try again, and if the problem continues, get help troubleshooting. (Error code: -505)"
It will just randomly come up with the error while downloading an app, and its different ones every time. The Google troubleshooting is not helpful at all...
Most of what I have found about this error relates to a lollipop issue which was similar, although it doesn't sound like it happened during an update. I have factory reset 2-3 times, which resolves the problem... but only temporarily. I factory reset the last time only about a week ago and this is getting really frustrating.
Anyone have any solutions? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Same here in LG G4.
having the same problem trying to install an app and getting the same error while trying to install delmarva power app have plenty of storage area only happened after the last security update dated 4/2/16 - nexus 6 running 6.01 marshmallow
I'm having the same problem. I'm on a Galaxy S7 and a Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. Out of curiosity have any of you merged your SD card with your internal memory? The really odd thing is that after I clear my cache of the APK that it originally tried to download from Google play, when I try to download an app again I get - 87% and no further on the download every single time.
I'm trying to install the i360walk app, and I'm getting this error on my Sony Xperia Z2 tablet as well. To say this is frustrating is putting it mildly

I went from bone stock to the most recent PAC-man nightly (22.0.1) and its fine with a couple of exceptions. When the phone tries to re-download my apps each one gives me an error message. That's not a big deal since I can still manually re-download them. But the issue that does concern me is that every time I try to use voice-to-text, I get "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped." Maybe not the worst thing in the world but it's getting in the way of my normal usage. I've tried wiping and re-flashing and I've flashed the latest modem but no luck so far. I tried the CM10.1 M2 snapshot too but I get the same issue. What am I missing?

Apparently, I didn't search hard enough for an answer before. Turns out I just needed to update Google Search manually. Help on particular apps not downloading is still welcome though!
hi, something is wrong with my Nexus 5 and i dont know how to fix it. So a few days ago, I was looking at how much little storage i had left so i went into my apps and i saw that ES file explorer had 1.02Gb on data. So I cleared it, and as soon as I did a lot of apps started crashing. I tried rebooting, and as soon as it booted "Unfortunately, google search has stopped" or something like that. I could barely use my phone at all, i was running HRT Rom 4.4.4 and i tried doing a factory reset and flashing the ROM again, but it still didnt work. Many apps still crashed. So I did another factory reset and i flashed a different ROM, (dirty unicorns) and i flashed PA Gapps and not as many apps crashed, but google search is a big problem. Right now I havent messed around anymore with it. Im on dirty unicorns Rom and everytime i reboot my phone google search crashes continuously for a while, and then it stops. i can use my phone for pretty much what i need it, but google search crashes every time i reboot but after a bit it stops. One another annoying thing is that i cant install xposed now. when i do, the android.system crashes to the point where i have to do a factory reset. I also cant share pictures from my gallery because it crashes. there is one app that every time i try to open it makes my phone reboot (photo punch). This is quite annoying and if someone knows a fix for this i would really appreciate some help. I also already tried uninstalling google search with titanium backup and installing it back from the play store but it doesnt work. And if i try to use another launcher, it crashes every time i hit the home button. no matter what launcher it is. if someone can help me please do so.

well, you factory resetting, or wiping data isnt fixing your issue, so i highly recommend flashing the nexus 5 factory img and starting over.
Why would you delete that? Lol

This is usually the cure all. Spend hours/days chasing an issue, or minutes reflashing. ?
Hi,
I have a Nexus 5, with Lollipop.
I had an problems with updating a few of my apps in Play store and it gave me Error 495. I initially did not do anything and just restarted the phone and opened Play store and the app updated by itself. Then next day again I had the same error and when this time I tried to restart and update, it did not help. So I searched online and the best way was to clear cache and data from play store and google service framework. I did that. But it did not help. This time it gave error 927.
I did the entire process again and this time it gave me error 923.
So I searched android forums and tried the same steps and every time the error changed from 927 to 923 to 928.
Finally, I did a hard reset. After booting it still did not help and gave me error 927.
So I wiped the cache partition. Still no difference.
I would really appreciate some help on this.
Regards
Anuj
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

Backup ,wipe , flash factory images.
It's just not worth the hassle to go through hours of diagnosis and testing fixes when you can flash factory and restore everything in under an hour.
Hey Folks!
You're literally my last hope! I've made a mistake - a huge one.
Long story:
My keyboard kept disappearing so I thought "Hey, if I uninstall the Play services update, it should run smoother!" Well, it did. And then all the trouble began. I couldn't use most of my Google apps anymore, so I convinced myself to update to version 7.0, again. But hello! Error "-501" was and still is in the way! So I searched Google for an answer, but nothing helpful. I tried installing a downloaded apk, but it wouldn't install it. *Sigh*
Short story:
I uninstalled the Play Services app to version 6.7, but the Google Apps didn't think of that as funny... So I tried installing it again, but it didn't work. I deleted the cache of almost every Google related app, plus the data, but nothing was helping. Error "-501" just keeps popping up!
I'd like not to do a factory reset or root my phone. If there's a more convenient way, please tell me.
Regards,
Jeffrey
You'll likely have to factory reset.
What Android version are you on, and what modifications do you have (if applicable)?

Update to latest play services and then clear data and cache for it and reboot.

I have two problems with my lg g3 att rooted phone.
1st Problem - I have tried to get rid of the android.process.acore error but have had no luck THIS time. (Last time part of the fix was completely uninstalling the facebook app from my phone). This time (and last time) I cleared caches, stopped them, deleted my contacts and the contacts storage, unclicked the app sync button.... I can't really remember what else I did to restore it to normal.
2nd problem - So I clicked on update software from ATT and a TWRP v.2.8.6.0 screen comes up. I don't know what to do with it. Do I click install, restore, reboot, backup? Can I just undo this and try and find some other way to remove the android.process.acore error message without losing all my data with a factory reset? If this twrp is complicated I would prefer to just undo what I just did. I really need some help as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.
Same Error Message

I am having the same problem and not sure what to do about it. I restart my phone, and it seems to be ok for a while, but then it starts popping up again. I have an AT&T LG G3 (LG - D850), not rooted phone. I have tried to reset all app preferences, but that didn't seem to do anything really. Could really use some help! Thanks!
