I am sooooooo tired of checking for an update. This is damn near CRIMINAL of T-Mobile to us waiting and waiting! Look we own THE FLAGSHIP of Samsung, and the top tier of T-Mobile, and yet, it just seems they can't push an update??? I called corporate a few days ago, demanding ANSWERS! The guy had the nerve to tell me "I just don't know..."....UNACCEPTABLE! I demanded to speak to ANYONE with a clue, he put on a Supervisor, who at least did what I would have done; put me on hold and do some checking. She, of course didn't get anywhere in giving me some idea, but, in a show of good faith gave me a $150 credit towards my next bill! (I took it off course!) My point is, with 6.0.1 being pushed to lesser phones, how is it we get put on the back burner and told to be patient??? I mean, it's TESTING for God's sake!!!! Marshmallow has been out since November 2015...HOW MUCH TESTING IS THERE???
Anyway, I just thought maybe someone, ANYONE in this forum might have some insight on when T-mobile and Samsung might get their S#@* together!!! (I feel better now...)

Glad you got your rant out, with that said it's an updated OS to a phone. Sure, it would be nice but it's not that important in the scheme of things.

I understand completely....sometimes it's the little things in life.
Samsung have moved on to the s7 and could careless about older devices. We will get the update but not until they have free time. As long as there's custom roms and root i could careless about the update. There really haven't been a android update that made me want to upgrade . Its almost like its going backwards if you ask me

I understand your frustration because i created a similar topic...
Back to the topic, you know i felt the same way but i learned to cope with it. Its not really necessary to update right now, imo, because how well built 5.1.1 is for our note 5's. There isnt any vulnerabilities as far as i know.. It'd be nice to have marshmallow though, with all the new features, changes...
The only problem i had with this phone is that when i charge, it doesnt fast charge sometimes. Even when all the cords are fully plugged in. Just today in the morning, i was charging my phone and it was finally fast charging. But i wanted it to charge a little faster because i had work so i turned off my phone... 30 min later i found out it was fully charged.. so i turned it back on and guess what? It was standard charging.......... so im going to call tmobile or samsung todau after work and see what the fu**ing deal is.. because itz been like this for the past week and im getting tired of this and afraid my device will mess up from re-plugging, and rebooting everytime it does that.

When it's not fast charging anymore it's usually the cable going bad. Try with another cable plugged in and see if it works better.

I dont understand why it would go bad in less than 3 months?? I take good care of my things, one of them being the charger and cable for my note 5.... I dont have any other usb cable i can use and do not plan on buying a new one. This is fu**ing ridiculous. I expect the device and the accessories/charger that came with it to work properly and at least hold up after 3-4 years......
I was pissed off earlier because of updates, yes i know thats a bad reason but now i have a good reason why i should be really pissed off....

Q- Why do you want the update? Just because its out there? This is what I never understood from people and the rants. Now I have a OnePlus that I keep and a Note 4 to root play with and test out roms. I am running MM on my OnePlus and its smooth but its not like a crazy upgrade that would make me go crazy or rant.
To each his own I get it but really what is the upgrade going to give any of us that we cant provide for ourselves. Thats a game changer for the Note 5...
No disrespect to anyone just asking.....

I don't think those dates apply to carrier version of the Note 5, so may be even longer.

Samsung's cable is truly garbage, they always go bad within half year. Go get a third party charging cable, it works better. My Samsung cable quit quick charging 3 moths ago, have to plug and unplug for 5 or more times in a roll before it can quick charge.

Actually, it's a good question. I've been reading about issues MM has, and now don't want it as much. I suppose it's because this is the only Note I've not rooted in order to keep Samsung Pay...I'm also frustrated seeing other phones get the update, yet this is supposed to be the best phone on the market. I called corporate and got $150 credit for ranting on them, so it does pay when you complain loud enough. Essentially, I agree, it's really no biggie anymore. No offense taken.

As many others have been doing lately, I also am getting ready to sell my Triumph and leave VM. In my case, I'm getting the Galaxy Note (just ordered it) and will be using it on Straight Talk. I have my phone on me 24/7 and just got tired of not having a completely reliable phone/service. I've really enjoyed being a part of this community and have appreciated all the work the devs put in. Wish I could have contributed more, but with every thing I've learned in my Android/rooting experience with the OV and MT I was able to give some little tips here and there, which I hope were helpful.
As a heads up, when I get around to it, once I get my Note all set up and play around with it to make sure it's all working right, I'll be posting this in the classifieds to give you guys first dibs on it before I put it on Craigslist or eBay, if you're looking to buy an extra or upgrade, along with a summary of the issues it has (fortunately nothing too major, pretty much just the basic QC issues everyone's had.)
I wish you all well as you continue on with VM and the Triumph, and I'll miss being a part of it.

Its not the best. If you spend some time reading reviews and checking out the forums here and on AndroidForums (its more active over there) you'll see all the issues people have had with it. I upgraded to it from my OV and since I was willing to overlook the minor issues I had with it I loved it but the unreliability of the touchscreen has driven me crazy lately. It definitely runs 100% better with cm7, although froyo is better for gaming and has HDMI. I'd say it really depends on your usage. If you're not on it 24/7 like me and can overlook the minor issues its great, otherwise I'd say to stay away. I hate saying that knowing I'll be selling it soon, but I can't in good conscience say otherwise

I have had the phone for about 7 months now and I am still happy with it. Of course coming from a Blackberry I should be, but with the amount of customization and development available for this phone, you can fix ALMOST all the bugs or glitches that most ppl were complaining about on Froyo.
Over at androidforums, ziggy46 and some others are almost finished with a gingerbread rom that has HDMI working on it. All they need fixed is 3G/Data & and SMS/MMS which, thanks to our devs, we have had really good luck at getting to work on so many other roms.
On top of that, we are beginning to have new ICS roms popping up. This phone is far from dead as some would think.
I am too selling the phone and moving to another carrier. What will VM do to the phone after the different provider will port the number? Will I need to do anything before I sell? I reverted to stock, but CWM is still there, will the buyer be able to activate it?
Thank you, it's been pleasure to be a part of CM7 triumph development.

It's pretty simple. You just buy the phone (Amazon, Ebay, or Expansys USA would be some good places to look), then go to straighttalksim.com and buy the $15 Sim card along with their monthly service, pop the Sim card in, put in the apn settings, and you're good to go. You'd do basically the same thing for the iPhone. There's a thread here with a lot of info if you have time to red through it: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1753835 I had no problems setting mine up, so if you decide to go that route and have any questions feel free to pm me.

Straight Talk's BYOP program uses ATT or tmo, depending on which Sim you order. With either of those devices, you'd wanna choose the ATT Sim, as they would only get edge speeds on tmo. If you had a pentaband device or one designed to utilize tmo's 3g you'd choose the tmo Sim.

Yeah, hopefully this week or next. I see no reason why not. T-Mo SII just got it through Kies, so there is def SII love. US SIII just isn't groundbreaking.
Will this be an OTA we have to manually retreive or a Kies update? Im half wondering if Kies will give it to us right now.
I hope it gets here soon, I'm so utterly disgusted with the lack of features and performance in mine that I'm already ready to go back to an iPhone. The only reason I bought it was because my iPhone 4 was stolen and the AT&T sales rep said ICS was coming out "next week", this was nearly two months ago.

hey, I'm not here to start anything, I wasted $200 on this thing because it's just not right for my usage. I have to restart it several times a day because it locks up, the stock browser is a joke, I'm forced to use Dolphin which I hate to access my company portal (hey, I didn't use Safari on my iPhone, but Safari did work for that) It won't ring, I never get notifications of text messages or voicemail, I drive over 200 miles a day so having music to listen to is important, and I had to dust off my old iPod for that, I had the TomTom app on my iPhone and since I travel out of my service area regularly I cant trust the navigation that came with the Samsung because it constantly loses GPS signal, so I had to buy a TomTom. I honestly thought my phone was broken so I took it back but the guy in the store said there was nothing wrong with my phone. I used to use Foursquare but the GPS is so off that every time I check in anywhere it says I'm too far away. Oh, and my battery only gives me about three hours off the charger.

Wow you're a ****. And I mean that with the most disgusted inflection that word allows for, jackass.
To the other guy; your phone is faulty. It just is. You're the consumer, you payed for a product that isn't delivering. You're going to need to whine and ***** about it, make it a big of enough deal; don't take no for an answer.
They're retail stores, switching out used devices isn't really their forte. (If you had a faulty iPhone you'd still need to make a big deal about it before getting it switched).
You have a great phone, trust me and everyone else here who knows phones. Yours is faulty; the Skyrocket is an incredibly powerful device.

I thought Android was the darkside . My wife and I went to Best Buy on Friday for new phones. I have always purchased Andriod and she always get's an iPhone. My wife got a 6S which was just made available and I seriously considered getting one also. One thing about iPhones is that though they are locked down they just work and they work great. I have owned 3 Android tablets and 5 phones. It seems like I spend more time tweaking them with rooting and ROMs than using them. My wife never does anything with her phone but install apps and she never have issues. So after about 15 minutes with a patient young sales girl I ended up with the S6 anyway. I was lucky enough to get an OE2 firmware and I already rooted. But I'm seriously considering taking the latest update and get out of the rooting and ROMs hassle. I have about 10 days left to decide if I going to keep or return the S6. My main concern is the battery. I'm retired and I have a landline so I probably don't use my phone as much as most people here but I travel often and don't want to worry about running out of juice. So if the S6 doesn't pan out I'm leaving the darkside for an iPhone.

It may not be inherently an issue with Android, but the issues Android has on verizon are not present on Apple devices.
When Apple agreed to place the iPhone on VZW, Verizon had to give them sole control of their software. The only thing VZW does is the baseband and radio for their networks. Everything else is in Apple's sole control. There is no verizon bloatware, VZW can NOT add or remove any software or features, ie...Samsung pay....
I believe that many of the issues that Android devices suffer from stem directly from verizon putting their noses where they don't belong.
It's taken years for me to get to this point. I've owned numerous Android phones from all of the manufacturers, and it's truly been an enjoyable ride. But the increasingly difficult security coupled with vzw's encroachment into the software side of the house has driven me to get fed up with it all. I just want a phone that works....that doesn't suffer from horrible memory leaks, that has decent battery life, that isn't plagued with cell standby issues, and evidently going to the iPhone is the only reliable way to do that.
I like the S6. But it does have it's issues. The main one for me is battery life. This could be because they decided to shrink the battery down or from software flaws...ie cell standby, memory management, or bluetooth being enabled never allows the phone to go into deep sleep (this is a new one I started experiencing a few weeks ago). Plain and simple....I have owned the S6 since launch day and the battery life is terrible. I have yet to get through a half a day without needing to charge and that is just unacceptable to me. My fiance has had her iphone 6s since the 24th and has only charged it twice. With 3-4 hr on screen time a day and pandora running for about an hour a day.

This is very true. I love Android, but I am sick of having to jump through holes just to get it to be clean. I hate how Verizon butchers everything and Samsung doesn't have the balls to stand up to them. Apple is able to do that. I have no hatred against Android nor iOS. I go by features that fit my requirements and the S6 has the best - Primary being the camera. However, I've noticed my photos have been blurry and the S6 can't decide what to do in low-light and doesn't use flash, which forces me to have people re-pose what should have been candid. I do believe the iPhone 6s will have the better camera (or at least he software to use the camera) and I would like to jump to it. It's just, the lack of IR, private mode (obviously just software), and battery life/fast charging, are big killers for me. Given the smaller battery and worse battery life, charging the damn thing is so slow. At least implement a fast charging feature and I can overlook my laziness of looking for my TV remote and privacy mode.

You do realize that Android / VZW do the exact same thing right? There is nothing that Android offers that Apple doesn't that's actually useful to me...I like widgets and such but I don't need them. And you know what? At least apple doesn't feel it necessary to force a hard warning about volume levels damaging my hearing...
Use to new able to remove that annoying little stuff via rooting/terminal emulator/ or romming.....well that's all but impossible now

I can relate to what the OP is saying. I have had an android phone on Verizon since the OG Moto Droid. I enjoyed tweaking Android phones. I have the S6 64gb right now. I love certain features of the phone but it is flawed. I was hoping that the new Nexus phones would be great and they probably will. However I don't want to have to buy a phablet to get good specs and better battery life.
I just purchased the iPhone 6s for my wife. Were on vzw and I may switch myself. It is a struggle cause I don't know anything but Android.

Haha enjoy your walled garden dude. I hope Apple approves of all the apps you want to install because you're not installing them otherwise. Maybe you don't have a problem with it but I hate being told what I can and cannot install. If I have to sit here and point out all the things you can't do on iOS that you can do on Android then you're better off with iJunk anyway. Have fun! Say hi to the "geniuses" for me. Once again, bye.

Oh you mean like the people who post about Apple in the GS6 forum just for attention? Just switch and leave. Change your iphone launcher or sideload an app. Maybe use NFC to initiate a macro. Activate your notification light with different colors for different apps... the list is endless. I'm not sure what you are looking for.

I'm far past the point in my life where I need to be validated by anonymous people on the Internet...chances are...judging by your behavior....I was using Android while you were still in elementary school. If you'd bother to have read my posts, you'd know that I've been using /hacking /flashing android devices since long before they became mainstream. Get over yourself
My post was meant for those users (who btw outnumber you in this thread) that may be in similar situations or experiences.
Changing my launcher? I don't even do that on android devices....too many bugs most of the time. Use NFC to initiate a Macro? I've done that, and it can make things a little more convenient. But I would rather use it to pay at the store. Something you can't do with the S6 because verizon has the android companies by the balls and just says "we aren't going to allow you have that feature" ...changing led colors? Really? Why even mention that?

That's what I'm saying. I've been doing it for so long it's just become second nature. I miss the OG Droid....that was a tinkerers dream. After years of doing it though, I'd rather spend the time doing things that are more fun. In other words, I don't care about customization options or 3rd party apps anymore. I just want a phone that actually works and works well out of the box, not needing any intervention on my part other than picking it up and turning it on.
This most recent issue with my bluetooth not allowing my phone to sleep was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Could I fix the problem? Probably....do I want to devote the time to it? Nope....not anymore.

Until recently you would have been hard pressed to find a bigger advocate for Android than me. There were always two features that kept me with Samsung...a removable battery and expandable storage. But when you remove those two features and basically make an iPhone clone you are going to lose on the software front. Especially when your hobbled by VZW and all the crap that they do to mess up a pretty good product.

I have an S6 and the battery is a LOT better than I thought it would be. I use my phone CONSTANTLY for work everyday outside with the brightness all the way up and I usually make it home most days with a little juice left. I have a Mophie case on it everyday but rarely have to use it.
There both good operating systems it doesn't have to be one or the other yea a nexus is fun to flash the **** out of it but obviously Apple doing something right too it's more about Verizons locked bootloaders.
Who here is actually getting the v10 from T-mobile? I am 85% Sure at this point. The phone seems nice, great specs not to mention Removable battery, SD card, IR blaster the three scace now on phones.
Can't forget that sweet deal either from LG: Free 200gb sd card, with free battery and cradle
This is how I see it, if not happy with the v10, will still have the 200gb SD card...but by the look of things, I will be happy....I mean, its the first phone I am considering without a case :highfive:.
Whats your thought?
BTW, here seem to be a snag when trying to order straight from t-mobile, it is not allowing some (not sure if all) to place an order through jump. I message t-mobile rep and this is what I found.

As soon as it's confirmed bootloader unlocked I'll be all over it.
I think I will jump on demand from the note 5 on friday. Since the new lumias wont be sold on tmobile ill jump to this. Im looking forward to get my hands on this.

Oh nice, I never knew a note 5 user will drop it for the v10 Any specific reason if you dont mind me asking ? I currently have the nexus 6..love that thing, waiting for the price for 64 gb to drop even more to make it my second device.
V10 just seems more daily friendly than the note 5 to me personally.
I've got a few TMo stores in the area, I'll be calling around Friday to see who has it in stock! This should be a nice upgrade from my G3. Now to figure out how Jump works (not Jump on Demand). I've only been with TMo for a little over a year, so I've never gotten around to switching up phones.

Assuming half of your device is paid off and you have jump 2, you will jump to the v10 without any hassle. If for any reason half of your current device is not paid off, you cannot jump without making that payment in store. Hope that helps

Ah nice, yeah I'm over the halfway point by about a month so hopefully this will be nice and easy!
I ordered mine online just to guarantee I'll get one in case.. Kinda wish I had just waited until Friday, but oh well. I don't do jump on demand. I usually only upgrade once a year, this will be my first multi-upgrade. I like to own my device and use it to resale later. I can get more money to put towards my new phone that way, or if I need it for immediate bills I can just finance the new one and pay it off a little slower.
Ive been trying on Tmobiles website to use my Jump and upgrade but it wont complete. Even tried the chat with a Rep for a while She told me to try back later. I had the Nexus 6, Cracked the screen Assurant gave me a GS6 as a replacement and I hate the smaller size.. Was Really holding out for the Nexus 6p But doesnt seem that will be on TMobile anytime soon. So Ill just Jump to the V10 and I have another Jump available in Jan in case anything else comes along..
I ordered this morning. It said back ordered and they only had black as the color option. Hopefully we'll have root available. The promo pushed me over. I got to use it a little and wanted it and the promo made me get it.
Just got back from my t-mobile store. I reserved mine for Friday am. I'll be there when the doors open at 10 am. I will be saying good bye to my trusty note 2 that has served me well for a long time. The v10 is the first phone I felt would be a substantial upgrade. I got to mess around with it in the store. Wow.. Hopefully my water damaged core dropping massively abused note 2 will hang in till Friday..

I was not aware it is in store already, nice! I better call around to see if my stores have it. What are your thought on it while using? How is the lag or lack of?
They had one in the store to play with?
I work in a mall and the Tmobile store is just a few steps away. I might need to sneak over there later.
Old faithful note 2 user here! I still love it but waiting 10 minutes to open my gallery is getting a little old (embarrassing too when I whip out the phone to show someone a picture "real quick". Hah not so much.)
The promo kinda pushed me over the edge too. I've been seriously considering the 6p and even sneaked a peek at some blackberry priv info. (hardware keyboard be still my heart!)
Friday might be the day!

Only getting it if it comes in the white/gold color.... Until then I'll keep my Note 5.
Looks like no phone for you then Charlie Brown. T-Mobile only gets the black version.
They had them in the back and brought one out for me. Lag? What lag.. I feel your pain about the gallery. Very irritating on my note 2. The v10 is really impressive. Makes my note feel old school now. And my note is rooted with custom rom. All the good stuff from XDA-Developers. So its still a very relevant phone. The v10 is a whole nother level..

Exactly, I don't understand why people are all up and arms about the monthly being late. Are you in a rush for something? If you have ants in your pants and itching to update something, just reflash your current version to curb your addiction. Everyone needs to relax and stop opening meaningless threads. Be patient and just wait for the update to come out.
Well, maybe because one of the reason they bought the phone is that it should be the first to get each monthly security update. It's google update for google products after all.
Turned out, this month, my S23U is getting update faster than my P7P.
Am not itching or b*tching about update. I just find it funny that google is lagging behind in an area where they should actually excel. Not to mention they only have less than 20 phone models in their portofolio to manage as well. Lol

And how many of the 1 million Samsung devices did get the update this month?
Samsung is known to have a history of taking back or stopping updates due to massive problems. Google isn't the best update company too.
Better late and stable than early and buggy.

Well, consider that samsung, within one month, sold 1.1 million unit of s23 series alone globally, and those series been updated/getting march 2023 update,
i'd say, 1 million then.
number aside. I agree about being bug free. Which, surprisingly, exactly how it goes so far for my s23u.

Probably the same reason people talk about Pixel in Samsung forums. Justify a purchase, feel the need to lord it over if something is presumed better on one, really like their phone and want to convince others to like them too, tribalism, cult status.. all kinds of things. I just take it as entertainment on a Sunday morning. I do like the size specs on the S23 mini but then again it's a Sammy so...
As for the topic at hand I think if Google at least gave a reason for the delay that would appease many folks but that doesn't seem to be forthcoming. There are always little bugs we're hoping to squash with each monthly and maybe that's why everyone is wondering when. Even the columnists at AP and 9to5 are wondering and mashing the update button so for people to say just wait, what's the big deal, cool your jets etc. it is a little disingenuous.

the one big important thing against Sammy is Knox and Warranty lose when bootloader unlock. You w8 big part of new product because you want to keep warranty.
Unrelated to the update scenarios, I'll say this...I had the pixel 5 and swapped to a Samsung note 20 ultra which I used until getting the p7p. If I'm honest, the note has a way more premium feel to it, holding it, looking at it, using it blows the p7p out of the water. I've been swapping back and forth between the 2 and even at 3 cycles old the Samsung holds it's own.
