[Completed] LG G3 bootloop/bricked? - XDA Assist

Okay, I have a Sprint LG G3. So about two days ago I rooted the phone using the King Root app, everything worked fine except for a few random reboots (i shouldve took that as a hint to unroot it but im stupid). I did remove some factory apps but only things that didnt seem important such as Google News and Books and stuff like that. Anyway i clearly dont know what im doing but a few hours ago i was installing a font onto my phone and when it went to auto reboot my phone got stuck in bootloop?? and im not sure what to do. I don't mind factory resetting the phone, but i have REALLY important things on there (14,000 photos, 400+ videos, 500+ songs, and important documents) that i would like to get from the internal storage. I found another forum that kinda relates to my problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339530)???? Im sorry i'm really stupid and confused, all I want are my pictures/videos/music/documents; the other stuff i can live without. The best thing for me would be to get back my phone completely, but if im at least able to get my important stuff saved on a computer or something then that would be good too. And yeah nothing is backed up anywhere so... If anyone has advice please dumb it down as much as you can because like i said i obviously am a confused person; i am never rooting anything in my life ever again. Thanks

[Q] g2x help for my GF

So here is the issue... my GF just bought a g2x off of craigslist and there is a big problem.... i just found out its rooted.... we cant get ahold of the guy who sold it to her and dont really know anything about rooted phones or anything. so im trying to find out if there is a way to get this back to stock settings even though we dont have any of the info or backup files ect ect. any help would be so much appreciated. thank you so much!
I found a guide on unrooting the G2X after a quick Google search. Note that it'll wipe all data on the phone, so if your girlfriend has already begun using it, make sure anything important is backed up somewhere (such as on an SD card) before you begin.
Unfortunately, I'm too new of a user, so the forums won't let me post outside links. Just Google "g2x unroot" and follow the first link (entitled "How To Unroot the T-Mobile G2X and Return it to Stock - TheUnlockr").

[Q] Need Root (A long story)

So a friend of mine dragged me into trying to help this woman who thinks her son was taken in by a cult. (I call it crazy but what do I know) He dropped off the phone an Atrix 2 and bailed. They want to see the deleted messages. Issue is that recovering them requires root and it seems I have that fun little issue that requires a factory reset before adb can figure out its magic. (I think a factory reset would create the deleted messages unrecoverable) Been reading every darn thread I could and still can't seem to find a solution. I kinda doubt there is one to be honest. But if anyone has something that might work I don't mind giving it a shot. Oh yeah you might notice its my first post but I haven't really had any issues with rooting before and to be frank I am just not really into these types of things enough to be able to give back to the community well. My apologies.
I have tried 1click methods, apk's, adb (fresh install on a new hard drive, had one layin about) drivers, inf changes, you name it I probably tried it.
Anything to be done?
Here's to the hope someone can help.

Amen to that, brother! :sly:
Anyway, regarding your query, I looked around and found this. It doesn't seem to require root so it might be just what you're looking for.
Also if you factory reset it doesn't overwrite the memory so you should still be able to recover them if you know where to look and prey to god that the memory doesn't get overwritten by something else

Random factory reset?! [Solved]

My jaw is on the floor, i have no idea how this happened. I work IT for a living, i love everything technical and electrical, programing and troubleshooting but i can't even begin to understand what just happened...
Sitting at my desk with my phone in my pocket and at about 15% battery life, i feel a short vibrate, then another and another. I look at my phone and its asking me all the first time setup questions... i skip through and all i see is a bunch of nothing except what's stock on the phone.
I've unlocked/rooted/flashed every stupid rom or hack i could find on every phone i've ever owned but ive NEVER done anything to this phone and ive never had anything like this happen... the last thing i was doing on the phone was making a call... before that i read my texts and before that i was using twitter...
Same software version as before, no strange behavior (aside from the obvious)...
any ideas?
Edit: Whatever happened it formated my SD card, i didn't even think that was possible.
Edit2: Well, that last discovery helped me figure it out.... Pattern unlock (to many tries wipes data).... FML, what a retarded feature to force someone into...
I feel your pain. Happened to me on day 1 of my 1 week trip to Germany so I didn't have access to any of my backups.

Yep, i figured this was perfect timing to unlock seeing as i had to reload my stuff anyway... just got done with sunshine (no firewater for me ), CWM recovery and GPE rom..
i didn't want to spend the $25 a couple months ago when i got the phone but now i'm literally shrieking like a school girl with all the cool things i'm doing/finding...

Between fixing this and the SD card permissions fix you have two perfectly valid reasons to root ☺

Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
Here is a guide that will help you restore your phone back to stock state:

Recovering lost data after a catastrophic mistake?

Hi all! Apologies if this is a repeat. I was up until nearly 5am last night, trying to fix this, and I sifted through the 125 pages of the help thread AND the other threads on this site, but nothing seemed to help me out. Right now I've got a phone that I had to factory wipe, and I'm devastated by the loss of almost a year of memories. I'm really hoping someone can help me!
I have a SM-G903V through Verizon (who were not at all helpful when their cloud failed me so miserably) and it was upgraded last week with the standard update. Prior to this it was stock and had never been rooted (although I dabbled in rooting several years ago with a Nook Tablet).
Yesterday, while transferring pics to my computer, I accidentally deleted an entire file with the most recent pictures (basically my whole 'camera' folder ever since we upgraded to S7 last October). I attempted to use a recovery program (FoneLab) to retrieve the files, but found that the root portion failed everytime. Through research, I learned what we all obviously know now -- that the bootloader is locked. I used a tutorial I found that was dedicated to my phone specifically, to try and unlock the bootloader so that I could recover the lost stuff.... and ended up in the dreaded boot loop. Every single method of getting out of the loop failed -- including the factory wipe!! I ultimately had to use Odin to completely reinstall the firmware and now everything (EVERYTHING!!!) is gone. All my settings, my music, my pictures and videos (including my snarky gif folder for Twitter use!!! )... the only thing the cloud restored was my contacts (anything older than about a month ago) and texts. Some of it is still on my PC from the original recovery attempt with FoneLab, but the good stuff is completely gone.
HELP! Am I screwed? Is there no hope of getting any of it back? I feel like it has to still be buried in the phone somewhere, because nothing ever really goes away..... but I don't know how to get it back. I've cried many tears and lost a whole lot of sleep in the last 18 hours. We lost stuff from a whole vacation, a wedding, countless family events, all of the videos/stuff we were compiling for my son who is hoping to enter the national development program for USA Hockey.... I feel like the worst mom ever.
:crying: Can someone help me?
I'm not completely a noob, and my husband is actually an IT tech, but he doesn't do a lot with Android. His coding background is in credit union software. But a lot of the coding lingo on this site goes a bit over my head.
Sounds like a complete nightmare! I made a mistake with an app (Package Disabler) which resulted in a factory reset and I lost so many photos etc too!
If you root your phone there might a chance to recover the files (warranty might be void). I doubt it though since you have done a factory reset which probably means the data is overwritten.

Because of Oding flash and/or the factory reset (in Recovery I think) your data is lost. the key to encrypt the interal space would be deleted. I don´t think that there is any way to recover the data.
