Mobile Payments on Rooted Phone - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a G920W8 and I decided that I had enough of the terrible battery life, so I decided to give in and trip Knox. I installed the latest Xstrestolite. I am trying to get Suretap to work, and the CIBC mobile payment app. Both of them appear to not see that I have a NFC capable sim. NFC works otherwise, I can scan tags without issues.
Is it the fact that I tripped Knox that it doesn't work anymore?
I tried running stock with unikernel v8 and Settings force closes when trying to turn NFC on. Does NFC work properly on Unikernel?
I feel it's gotta be something other than having knox tripped/rooted, I had my old LG G3 rooted and Suretap worked fine for me.
Anyone have any success in trying to get this to work?
BTW, battery life is much much better now, worth tripping Knox

I had a similar issue, found out that you need to get the aroma package and install NFC Smart Card Services from there. You can find that aroma package in the second post of Xtrestolite ROM Page.

Hi,
If Knox is tripped, no way to make working Samsung Pay.

Can't you read? He said suretap and CIBC Mobile payment. What a worthless reply from you.

Making mistakes is human, it is not worth to say that my post is worthless, it suffices to say that I misread it's more respectful, isn't it ?

There is no way, and probably be no way ever to get Samsung Pay to work with knox tripped

Thanks for the advice, I did install NFC services, but I figured out that I had to uninstall and reinstall both CIBC and Suretap for it to properly detect the NFC sim. Thanks again!

Edit: Hum, posted to the wrong thread.

Does your finger print scanner still work? I read somewhere that a tripped knox also affects the scanner.

Yeah, my fingerprint scanner still works.
As kind of an update, I have not been able to get the CIBC mobile payment app to work. I have been working with their support and haven't had any success. I don't think it's the fact that I tripped Knox, but most likely the specific ROM in using.
I notice that the ROM I'm using had an Advanced NFC menu that I don't believe was there before. For mobiles payments using an NFC SIM card, it should be set to SE SIM card, right?

i will make a safe list later, getting about an extra 1 - 2 hours battery life.

It let's you disable apps that you can't through the application manager, so yes it's very useful. And that's not even considering the benefits of having a UI tool with backup/restore app list and batch operations.

I finally got a chance to try this but I just saw it needs root. That kinda ruins it for us verizon users since we cant get root. If I could root I'd just use titanium backup to freeze them or remove them though this is a nice way to do a bunch all at once.

I'm unsure how system apps could be deleted without root, either via adb or within the Android itself. I'd be happy to be wrong though, as my Vodafone S7 will undoubtedly be full of Vodafone s**t I neither need or want. But disabling them would be better than nothing until root becomes available for the Exynos model.

Package disabler pro is pretty good, I just used it with the S7E also. However, be a little careful with it. On my S6E, I selected the "disable all bloatware" option and that thing turned off several packages that were necessary for VR to work and I had to trouble shoot.

That's why the Note 5 XML file is so great. Takes care of all the standard bloat without messing with the good stuff.

Step counting on auto, how to turn off?

I was hiking the slot canyon in Anza yesterday and when I finally got back to a restaurant, I realized the phone , which I'd never enabled anything in particular on, had counted all my steps and several other things.
Does anyone know how to disable step counting on emui 5? I've done all the obvious things, like "disable step counting". Thanks. I don't care how many steps I've taken, only that I arrived.
Also: I meant to mention this but forgot. The camera works great for me, but that isn't good enough for the Honor 8. After I've taken some pictures, about 3 hours later, it always pops up a notification that says "I've finished enhancing your picture of _____" . What if I don't want an enhanced picture? Is there a way to turn off all this irritating crap? Thanks again.

If you are referring to the step count being displayed on the lock screen then you disable it through the screen lock settings. Otherwise, I believe it's in the Health App itself.
Not sure about the photo enhancing. Never seen that one before.
What app do tell you about step counting.
Plus, clear data and cache of the camera app and see if the pop-up is still present
I didn't even know that the Honor 8 had a built in step counter app in it's software.

The only fitness app I can find is called "google fit". I've disabled it. However, the steps are still there after disabling them on the lock screen & disabling the fit app, so I think it may be a bug or else there is another counter that just keep going. It's not that bad and it doesn't eat up any noticeable energy.

Yes, it is possible. But just for your information rooting doesnt make the phone worse, you could actually increase it's speed, battery life etc.
Also once you root it then on e and for all ypur phone is classified as software tampered device (since knox is tripped, noway to reset it till now) by samsung. So in case in future you want to use samsung pay theres noway 4 it.
Anyways if you insist in doing then you can proceed in doing (atb)

Ads are killing me - How to get rid of?

So I recently upgraded my Android device and unfortunately it's not currently rootable like my old one was and I got used to a certain ad free lifestyle and now I have ads in every single app all over the place popping up left, right and center and its annoying the heck out of me, I can't live this way!
Does anyone have any methods or ideas for getting rid of these in-app ads without being rooted? My device is the ZTE Grand X4 (Z957). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Thanks this is the kind of thing I was searching for, it doesn't block everything like some of the root based tools on my old phone but it will have to do. The premium licence is kind of expensive though coming in at $25 CAD for 1 device.

Yep I've posted there seems nobody has been able to come up with a working root method as of yet, but I remain hopeful some android gurus will find a way someday.
Hello, use malwarebytes and a antispyware from google play and let them scan your phone for any malware or any antispyware using blockers won't help because the ad domain must be blacklisted to work

That's what I was afraid of. Good thing I got this phone as a free carrier upgrade and can change to something better later.

I'm not sure what you mean by that or what anti virus protection has to do with what I said. I just mean I got the phone at no cost to me from my wireless provider.

That's what it feels like since most apps I use are very ad heavy. I will always need either wifi or lte on so that's not really a solution.
