Ads are killing me - How to get rid of? - General Questions and Answers

So I recently upgraded my Android device and unfortunately it's not currently rootable like my old one was and I got used to a certain ad free lifestyle and now I have ads in every single app all over the place popping up left, right and center and its annoying the heck out of me, I can't live this way!
Does anyone have any methods or ideas for getting rid of these in-app ads without being rooted? My device is the ZTE Grand X4 (Z957). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Try Adguard. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/adguard-ad-blocker-doesnt-require-root-t2958895

install an adsblocker app

Adblock or Adguard
I learned to live with them but I tried Adblock. Arguard works well too.

Thanks this is the kind of thing I was searching for, it doesn't block everything like some of the root based tools on my old phone but it will have to do. The premium licence is kind of expensive though coming in at $25 CAD for 1 device.

Yep I've posted there seems nobody has been able to come up with a working root method as of yet, but I remain hopeful some android gurus will find a way someday.

Hello, use malwarebytes and a antispyware from google play and let them scan your phone for any malware or any antispyware using blockers won't help because the ad domain must be blacklisted to work

I'm not sure what you mean by that or what anti virus protection has to do with what I said. I just mean I got the phone at no cost to me from my wireless provider.

That's what it feels like since most apps I use are very ad heavy. I will always need either wifi or lte on so that's not really a solution.

You wont find it in the store. Google Adguard. You have to download from their site.
only thing on the S6 that suffers from ads is the chrome browser.
i miss my adaway, but an easy workaround is to go to chrome settings and turn off JAVA.
This will kill 90 percent of the ads if not all, only draw back is some websites wont work properly.

Does adguard work as well as adaway? Does it block the annoying popup and banner ads inside of apps? I was using adblock plus with and without root on my previous phone(one m7) and it was just terrible.

I purchased the full version of AdGuard and lately though I have been getting disconnected when making calls. I disabled AdGuard and this problem went away.

Bluboo Dual | ROOT

Hi Xda,
i got myself a bluboo dual, ok phone for the price ill say, but well im a bit annoyed to see that there is nothing on how to root it yet, anyone have information on which twrp i could use on it ? for information the device is on mtk6737T.
Kind regards
Me too still waiting
Hey, I have one as well and seem to be in the same situation as you. In Kingroot you can send a request to for them to work on a rooting process within the app. I suggest you download Kingroot so you can add yourself to the list of people who requested!
On YouTube there is a video called "How to ROOT Any Android Device Without A Computer |One Touch Root (2016)" by user The Android Guy that shows you how to get that installed on your phone.
Have you had an issue with the weather app installed on the phone giving you ads? I've run many anti malware apps and it says that it is a malware as well.. I guess we have to thank Blueboo for that.. Anyways, I hope that there is a solution soon because I think once I am able to uninstall that app the phone will be working the way I want it to.
All the best,

About the weather app, you only have to disable it and the app ad will be gone forever. It's a good phone, a shame that it got not much community support But bluboo have done a good work with the updates.

Sleeping Apps

Do you guys sleep apps in the device optimizer? I just found it the other day, seems like a good thing, probably the best we can get till we can get root
I have all of my apps that I don't need notifications from set to Always Sleep. Seems to help the battery some.
If you are looking to disable apps or block them I recommend BK Disabler. No root needed.
Also root is available, just be careful because it has ALOT of set backs. In my opinion not worth it right now.

It aggregates all of you data, ties it to you phone number and your AT&T account. It's quite a bit more invasive than Google's anonymously collected data.
Also it crush battery and uses about 20 - 200 MB of data a month.
Super shady.

Yeah I switch to BK because sometimes u you only want to disable specific services not the entire package.
On the S8 the Carrier IQ was hidden in the system package.
I dont appear to have "Device Health" anywhere.

WIFI kickers that work?

One of the first things I installed on my Magisk-rooted OP7 is a program to kick greedy users off the wifi temporarily (Pixel Netcut), but it threw me into a boot loop.
On the next round, I installed Arcai Netcut. It works, but the $12 per year seems a bit steep, I don't expect to use it that often, only when sharing space with someone who's being a pig. A nice feature is that you don't have to kick them out, you can reduce their speed to, say, 30%.
Would some of you know of other apps that serve that purpose and are stable on Magisk-rooted OP7?
Thanks!!!!
is $12/yr and you bought a op7 pro? like cmon

Ha, I never said that I personally bought that phone… Otherwise, I could see your point!
And value-wise, I do spend $12 a year for Reverso, but I use that every day… When I contrast that to a program I might use a couple times a year, it seems steep (for my needs).

Had your problem a while ago, but in my research dsploit never worked correctly. You may try but the only working solution was netcut, because after a certain Android version every other app became obsolete.
