do they stick after a reboot? its been awhile... if it sticks that would be nice... guy at best buy told me you can delete most bloatware said it was new to s7... be nice to delete vs freeze for space

Can anyone confirm if you can delete? If not, I know disabling works as it did in S6. Did as much in store last weekend.

I'm unsure how system apps could be deleted without root, either via adb or within the Android itself. I'd be happy to be wrong though, as my Vodafone S7 will undoubtedly be full of Vodafone s**t I neither need or want. But disabling them would be better than nothing until root becomes available for the Exynos model.

good to know, i used that for the note 5 too and it made a big difference
Package disabler pro is pretty good, I just used it with the S7E also. However, be a little careful with it. On my S6E, I selected the "disable all bloatware" option and that thing turned off several packages that were necessary for VR to work and I had to trouble shoot.

Any way to post up what not to disable?
That's why the Note 5 XML file is so great. Takes care of all the standard bloat without messing with the good stuff.

why wouldn't it stick? That's what I've been doing on my current S6 Edge and will do on my S7 edge. I also use Package Disabler but this app is useless as all it does, is exactly the same as what the guy does manually in the App Manager app.

I was only asking. My note 4 had the ability to disable apps in app manager. Soon as you reboot, they all come back. That's why I was asking if they fixed it yet
Sorry i dont have a link, but on /r/android and /r/galaxys7 people are reporting package disabler wrecks battery life. Fyi.

I think you are correct but it still is better than nothing until we hopefully get root one day.

Not all apps though, I removed stupid my verizon that kept bugging me every time i dialed 611, i disabled about 100 bloatware crap thats not disable able in stock setting so your incorrect.
i will make a safe list later, getting about an extra 1 - 2 hours battery life.

yeah but i dont care I finally disabled 100+ stuff like stupid my verizon and stock apps i dont use like email, exchange service, gear vr, knox, and what not and have gotten an extra hour or two of battery life.

It let's you disable apps that you can't through the application manager, so yes it's very useful. And that's not even considering the benefits of having a UI tool with backup/restore app list and batch operations.

Yep, worked for me. Nice to at least clean some things up a bit, plus it is much faster then tapping through everything to disable the ones that can be, by hand.

yep. the program uses pm hide or block (block not supported on s6) instead of pm disable which requires root to apply to system apps.

I can't get the Debloater to see my s6, any ideas? I have the USb drivers installed and USB debug option on.

That's up to you. It presents all the apk packages to you and you choose what to hide. If you want it back, you can easily umhide it

I had the issue that it didn't see my S6 when my screen was locked, once I unlocked it (fingerprint) it mounted in Windows and the tool found it.

I finally got a chance to try this but I just saw it needs root. That kinda ruins it for us verizon users since we cant get root. If I could root I'd just use titanium backup to freeze them or remove them though this is a nice way to do a bunch all at once.

I seems very great and I have read about many people very much enjoying it. But that fact that it needs Device-Owner permissions concerns me a little?
In the reddit post people seems to like and so does people in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/ice-box-t3328073, but there is ONE person (ElwOOd_CbGp) in that thread who claims the APP sends data to China?
Does anyone have experience with this app? And maybe even can confirm/deny this claim?

I actually use Package Disabler Pro ATM, but as far as I know it does not have any Tasker Plugins.. Which is a big plus for me

So I've been using it for about 24 hours I'm on an S8 plus Verizon and it's awesome not only does has the Tasker thing but it also you can disable everything Knox

Hi just got this phone after a year of the Moto z force. There are several apps built in which don't allow to be disabled or uninstalled such as the Samsung calender. I was hoping there is a way to get rid of this using something called adb however I've never used this before. Would really appreciate if someone can post a link and point me in the right direction to rid these apps from my phone including a list on what is safe to remove.

Just use BK disabler from the app store. Block anything you want.

I thought it may be possible a via ADB, the app you mention doesn't seem to be that highly rated on the play store. I'm gonna give the BK app a go

I didn't mention adb as most people can't or won't use it anymore. I believe this will do what you want.
adb shell
cd system/app
ls
rm nameofapp.apk
reboot
And make sure and reboot.

I have tried ADB + Debloater app. I didn't work... only showed me 2 packages. Unlike Note 7 that still works with Debloater. Did not try anything else.
PD did not work with my firmware so i had to get BK. I bought both of them and I like PD more but again, it wont work on my phone so Im using BK. Almost just as good.

Haven't tried adb to remove apps on the S8+ but have used it to remove battery charging icon on status bar. Package Disabler Pro works great on my T-Mobile variant, just using it because I had it on the Note 7.

It actually works! Seems to be a fantastic app so far, bixby has been completely shut down so the button does nothing when accidently pressed :good:

Do you guys sleep apps in the device optimizer? I just found it the other day, seems like a good thing, probably the best we can get till we can get root
I have all of my apps that I don't need notifications from set to Always Sleep. Seems to help the battery some.
If you are looking to disable apps or block them I recommend BK Disabler. No root needed.
Also root is available, just be careful because it has ALOT of set backs. In my opinion not worth it right now.

That app is awesome! Pretty much the only thing I wanted root for! Or at least the main thing! Thanks! I froze/disabled a few main ones that keep waking up in the background....

You're looking at the wrong application. Use the search to find "Carrier IQ" and you'll find the right application and then the right service to turn off.

It aggregates all of you data, ties it to you phone number and your AT&T account. It's quite a bit more invasive than Google's anonymously collected data.
Also it crush battery and uses about 20 - 200 MB of data a month.
Super shady.

Yeah I switch to BK because sometimes u you only want to disable specific services not the entire package.
On the S8 the Carrier IQ was hidden in the system package.
I dont appear to have "Device Health" anywhere.
Is there an adb command or something to remove the pill at the bottom? I'm used to being able to root to remove it. The P6P had a non-root method using adb too. Hoping there's something similar for the ultra.

Use the search function in settings to locate "Gesture Hint" & toggle it off.

What's messed up with the ADB method for the P6P is that it no longer works ( thanks Google ) & root is required for that now.
I like my P6P, but, the thrill has definitely left the building. If forced to choose between it & the S22 Ultra, or, the Note20 Ultra for that matter , it's no contest.
JMHO, the only thing that I prefer w/the P6P is the overall size. Otherwise, the S22 Ultra is my go-to daily driver.

Every pixel I've owned I've rooted. There are way too many things Google doesn't let you do on one. Honestly, I never thought I'd want another phone brand, but after being pushed back to Samsung due to the garbage fpr and modem, I'm not upset that I did now. I definitely miss some pixel only features, but I really like this ultra. I can do way more with it.
