Nexus 5 Mic works only when Loud speaker is on. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All ,
My Nexus's Mic is working only when I speak on Loudspeaker mode. When I approached the Service centre they told its an issue with the mother board which I am not so convinced . How come a Phones mic works in Loud Speaker mode but not in the normal mode ? Could this be a software glitch ?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Bala

cannot hear from ear speaker but very audible when using speakerphone

Dear all,
I'm having this problem. I cannot hear the person on line through the earpiece/speaker but loud and clear when i activate the speakerphone. What could be the problem?
thanks for any help.
I have the same problem. It seems that the problem is a hardware problem and you have to change the earpiece with a new one. If you have bought recently go back whit it on the shop in order to be changed with a new one.

[Q] In call speaker broken

So my cousin bought this phone yesterday and during his first phone call noticed that he could only hear the other end of the call thru headphones or speaker. Verizon replaced it without question and there was no issue there. Was just wondering if anybody else got a defective device.

My first replacement had a bad ear piece. Cracking when turned up during a call.
My volume is low on earpiece during calls. I can't hear much unless I am in a quiet room. In my car with road noise (New B'Mer not very loud) I can hardly here other party

If you're talking about using ur phone up to your ear, speaker by front camera, I would say replace it! Mine is very loud on full volume, honestly the loudest cell phone speaker I've ever had for the regular speaker, not talking about speaker phone here.

[Q] Nexus 5: microphone only with hands free call

Hi,
after reassembly my N5 for LCD repair the microphone is no more working or better, it only works during hands free calls.
Only using a voice recording app I was able to record a very low volume talk by tweaking microphone gains.
Do I need to replace the USB board where the microphone is located? Or it is a SW issue? I have installed Android Lollipop 5.0.1.
Thanks for help!
Mines doing something similar. Mike won't work on headphone, but will on non speakerphone but not on speakerphone. Driving me nuts. Not repaired anything
Same problem here, the microfone of my Nexus 5 only works on hands free call and I not repaired anything.

Bottom microphone problem

Hello
I've got a problem with the mic on my s7, the one on the bottom of the phone. Few days ago everything was normal, i had good voice quality while talking but now nobody can hear me because the sound is really quiet. When i open up sound recording I hear some stuttering and white noise and I have to talk directly to the mic to hear my voice. The top speaker works perfectly fine btw. I tried to flash different roms and the problem is still there, but now it's quite better than it was before.
Did anybody have similar problem and knows the way to fix it? Or is it possible to turn the top mic as the main one?
I don't want to send it to the service bc I don't have warranty and they can break the screen and then it is expensive to repair.
