Activate Performance mode - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Found this Xiaomi verfictions APP in a Xiaomi forum to set the performance mode on.

Thanks but what does that mean exactly?
Is this like a setcpu profile that'll clock the cores a little higher by default so everything is a little snappier, but also takes more charge?

This is the anti fake app you can use to check if your Xiaomi device is original, I think it set the performance mode only for checking, then it revert back the conf...
I've tried the app, the performance mode stay until reboot, but there's no performance improvements and no visible change in kernel conf: I've tested with antutu 6.0.1, still the same score a little over 62k...
I think is a deprecated function, this will explain why they remove the option from the battery settings...

Interesting. Well if only for verifying the hardware when I get my phone, I'm loading this up already.

Force GPU rendering?

Should I have this checked in my settings? What does it necessarily do? Does it effect battery life? Just don't know to much about it....thanks

i am interested in an answer to. I believe on stock this option was checked.
However TempleRun was running better without forced gpu rendering...

Hi, as many people and advanced users / dev' recommend it enable, I did. Here are also some explanations about this setting in ICS :
http://pocketnow.com/2012/05/25/what-is-force-gpu-rendering-in-ice-cream-sandwich/
Other sources are available too (Just google for it ).
My humble experience with it :
- a better smoothness of graphical effects and global's UI (but may be just a "psychological" effect lol)
- didn't got any problem with the feature forced on
- didn't performed so much benchmark, I'm not sure it has a "real" effect on performance
This feature is usually set off in stock roms to avoid "old application compatibility problems" - but even with older applications, I didn't got any problem. You could enable it without risk so
Note that this setting is generally set to "on" by applications (eg. games, videos ... set the setting to "on" while running, and goes back to your system settings on exit) : That's what I understood. No visible effect for those apps'
Hope this will help a bit!

[Q] Using multiple Kernel tweaking Apps

This may be sort of a noobish question but I was curious if using multiple apps for controlling kernel settings, in my case I am using both FKU & Trickster mod. I have the latest version of Franco's kernel flash (r32). I use both cause trickster has some options that FKU doesn't but I really like FKU's intergtayiong with system monitor and some of the kernel settings it has that trickster doesn't. I make sure that the settings for CPU min/max freq, volt, governor, IO schedule etc etc are set the to the same specs on each one. So is this OK to do, or will it cause issues with the kernel itself and/or my settings
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What options does trickster have that franco doesn't?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Hi,
Should not have issues as long as you are sure that you have the same settings on both apps, like you do. For example don't set a different i/o scheduler or a different CPU governor in the two apps or it may conflict...
If you use mainly FKU, set it like you want then use TRickster Mod for the setting you want, no need to re-set the same settings in both apps (I don't know if I'm clear here ).
For example setup your CPU setting in FKU, let the CPU settings in Trickster Mod no need to re-apply them, it will just read the CPU settings from FKU...
Stuff like headphone volume boost which is good for me cause I am a active guitarist in a progressive metal band and am going deaf from playing shows lol
There's a few others. And a couple of the settings that they share I like better on trickster then fku and visa versa. By that i mean the way they allow you to change them is different on the two apps and I like the method better on one of them more so then the other sometimes. I'm weird like that I guess haha

I get what u mean. That's generally how I do it. But some settings dont seem to translate. Like voltage. I dropped the stock voltage by 25 In fku and dropped the max cpu freq a bit and the CPU freq translated over but the voltage setting didn't. So I had to change that manually.

When you use 2 apps, sometimes you change the settings in one and the other writes the settings back and they don't translate. I use 2 apps myself. Voltage is fine as it is only available in one of my apps, but governors are available in both ans although sometimes it translates, otehr times it overwrites so I have to manually change the values in both apps to ensure it sticks.

That happens with me sometimes too. So far so good tho. I had to manually change voltages tho like I said. The CPU freq translated over tho as well as governor and IO Scheduler.

I use the free version and I have the Voltage settings, so I am not sure why they are not showing up for you, especially since you are using the Donate version. You can always try out FKU, I have the paid version of that app, and it's great. Now that I have found settings I didn't know were on FKU, I only use that one. Not to say Trickster isn't great, cause it is, just comes down to preference in the end.

Are you running a custom kernel? If you're still running the stock kernel, you won't have those settings no matter which app you use.
Yes I'm running a custom kernel but I thought there was a way to undervolt all frequencies at the same time. I tried Fku and it's possibile but I haven't got screen features yet, I will change kernel. Thank you!

You are right about that, there could be some different, added or lost settings on app to app and also kernel to kernel. But using two applications can interfere each other, if you don't want this, you should be carefull about apply settings on boot option. You should choose one application to enable set on boot option and not in other application. At the end your device will open even you set on boot option in 2 apps but valid settings while device is running depends on which app grants superSU right fisrt or second.

cpu2 & cpu3 are not disabled, they will active when high processes need more cpu power. trust me.
so a win2 for battery life and performance,
but yes, when device getting warmer this tweak won't shutdown / turn down cpu cores.

Hi crayon, what other tweak you change besides perfecting ads removal thingy?
Just flashed your v2.2 over v2.0 and i found that its smoother than v2.0.
Playing implosion game for about 10mins and no issue with lagginess. I'm not sure if play longer fps would drop.
Great work as usual my friend
Suggestion: maybe can add option for double tap to sleep [emoji16]

I use the stock touchwiz rom. My phone is currently off and charging so I can't really outline my undervolting (every phone is different), but you should use the profile which aldoblaga has provided in the first page (it should be the same undervoltage values which i'm currently using on the latest prometheus kernel and touchwiz firmware).
As for apps, i use disable services and ez package disabler to disable all those touchwiz and google bloat apps and services which are irrelevant to my daily usage. I could upload my ez package disabler and disable services app profiles, but if people use them and certain services - which i don't use, but they use - begins to malfunction (such as google cast/wear/tap and pay), then i might get a torrent of abuse from certain immature members on this forum e.t.c.
I turn on power saving (doesn't affect performance) and stick all apps into app powersaving (but i don't think it does much as all my IMs are still syncing in the background before i open them). I also use a black theme (search 'touchwiz black' in the theme store) for maximum sAMOLED efficiency (excellent black levels and power saving; win-win).
General prom kernel settings are smartmax_eps with stock cpu freqs (2.3 GHz mongoose/1.7 GHz apollo) and interactive with stock gpu freqs (650 MHz gpu). FIOPS for both internal and sd card I/O schedulers (but i'd prefer BFQ for sd card I/O, if lyapota adds it into the next update). The rest should be provided in aldoblaga's profile from the first page.
I'm still fighting some wakelocks in my device, so i still have a lot to learn

I just tried out aldo's perfection version 2 with renovate rom 1.1 r39 and it seems to be pretty fine.
I will try out the "battery" option for interactive governor with the next charge and then smartmax governor after this.

Keep us updated on your findings (by screenshots) from both governors with their respective settings, please. I have always been curious to see how smartmax_eps compares to interactive with battery settings enabled in synapse.
Thread cleaned yet again. If people want to have a screen on time contest that's upto them, if people want to OC or UV its upto them. But ALL members must be polite to each other, if someone's posts are annoying then add them to your ignore list

I will report soon but it will need some days. Especially if the battery usage has to be similar to each "kernel-setting-test"
I'm now using Superman ROM with superstock kernel, and i want to try this kernel now with that rom, so my question is, if i change kernel now, should y root again and flash xposed again or just flashing kernel will be fine?

Thanks in advance!

Poco x3..dynamic Refresh rate switching advice?

Hey, I've been using Poco X3 NFC for around 2 months now..and the refresh rate switching bugs me..when there is slight stuttering and slow animations.
Thx to XDA now through set it application, ive set it to 90hz for most of the time..but still there is some stuttering felt when u scroll the home screen of the launcher slowly..or the phone settings application..or gallery..sometimes chrome too..rest is smooth..can anyone suggest a fix? Also note that when I restart my device, then for 2 or 3 days it runs buttery smooth as.i wished it did constantly.. but after that the stuttering and slow animations appear through normal use..rest performance is fine during gaming and social media scrolling..but I don't like the dynamic Refresh rate switching..I wish it was set to permanent 90 Hz Instead of 120hz..

Sounds like you installed a lot of bloat on your phone. I would advise to search your app list for power hungry behaviour (always running in background, disabled battery optimizations, etc.) or even for suspicious and malicious spyware like Twitter and Facebook.
If you find such apps, remove them and try again. I'm sure the stuttering will vanish.

Thanks for replying..man but I checked and I don't have any add issue..and no bloatware except one cod game..Facebook or YouTube and Instagram..and I've restricted their activities..plus the ram is 6gb of which 3gb is available mostly..due to mui being a heavy ui, are u using Poco x3 as well? Man I wish there was another suggestion which I could try to make the stuttering vanish, and I think the stuttering issue is there due to dynamic Refresh rate switching..it's software issue on poco's part..waiting for more tips..here as I want to get this stuttering to vanish..

I use POCO X3 NFC surya with OctaviOS (Android 11, AOSP) with firmware version 12.0.3.0. I set static refresh rate to 120Hz and it is as smooth as butter. Have no stuttering at all. If you are interested in what exactly I did, read this comment.
P.S.: I have no Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or whatever installed.

Ahan man ?so you're using custom ROM..yes that's nice..can you share an ss here of how it looks and how's the experience compared to mui..ik it would be much more stable than this heavy skin.i don't hate mui but if I could get more smoothness then that would be amazing ..at the moment man I won't custom flash for Rom just now but maybe after several months..and updates if things do not get better I will..any tips for dynamic Refresh rate switching though man.? If I want to use the stock mui ..I'm on version 12.4 and Surya model..

I never used MIUI. I instantly flashed the custom ROM, as soon as I was allowed to. Before that, the phone was just laying around, waiting to be flashed. I have no idea what spyware this Xiaomi software has, so I refrained from using it all. That said, if you don't do extensive backups, then your data will be deleted on flash anyway, so why would I bother using the stock ROM for 7 days, just to remove it afterwards, anyway.
That said, I already heavily customized all looks, so potential screenshots wouldn't show how the custom ROM would look, instead it would only show how my personal customizations look, so no point in showing screenshots of that. Additionally, the parts that aren't customizable, like the Settings App, just looks like a stock Android 11 Settings App, I guess.
Finally, if you want to know more about OctaviOS, you can check out the thread I mentioned earlier. If you get to the first post of the thread I gave you my comment from, then there will be an explanation on OctaviOS and its feature set.

Right man..I respect that choice of yours using custom ROM..and tbh I think I'd do the same but only after some months.. I'm thinking that maybe future updates..and mui 13 next year would solve the trick..so got my fingers crossed..but when and I will flash my phone using a custom ROM..I'd definitely keep this OctaviOS in mind..thanks man
