T-Mobile LTE on Which Model?????????????? - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking to get a Mate 8 but need LTE on T-Mobile; Which model gets T-Mobile LTE? Which model do you have and what speeds are you getting?
Models I've seen: http://www.willmyphonework.net/
NXT-AL10
Result 1900MHz
Result AWS, 1900MHz
Result Band12-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz
NXT-CL00 (China Telecom)
Result 1900MHz
Result AWS, 1900MHz
Result Band12-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz
NXT-DL00 (China Unicom)

NXT-TL00 (China Mobile)
Result 1900MHz
Result AWS, 1900MHz
Result Band12-700MHz, Band4-AWS, Band2-1900MHz
Nano-SIM - NXT-L09
Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) - NXT-L29

most common would be NXT-AL10 and NXT-L29 (international version) on xda thus far. differences between these two are just restricted to a total of 3 LTE bands, nothing else: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9878/the-huawei-mate-8-review

Get the AL10. Don't think about it, just get it. You will not be disappointed.
I have had my Mate 8 for a week and a half now and I have to say, it is the best phone I have ever had. I live in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area and I am using it with T-Mobile as the primary in sim1 and AT&T secondary in sim2. It has had the best reception, connection speed and connection quality of any phone I have ever used. I have used them all. The battery life is off the charts. I am coming from the Note 5 DUOS but before that I have been using the Note 5(T-Mobile), Note 5(AT&T), iPhone 6S Plus(AT&T), Lumia 950XL, LG G4(T-Mobile), iPhone 6 Plus(T-Mobile) and many more. This phone blows them all away in the overall speed dept, battery life, network connection quality, speed and strength, and the overall phone experience.

Sorry, forgot to post my speeds. I am getting a very strong LTE signal with consistent 15-20mb down and 11-12mb up

now if that aint a happy user, i dunno what is

Another LTE question on top of this T-Mobile one.. Will this work with Verizon? I'm sure it wouldn't work 100% but looking at the specs it appears to have everything necessary to run on Verizon's LTE network (similar to the HTC A9). Just wondering if that is indeed the case.

Does it support Wi-Fi calling from T-Mobile???

guys, seriously: check the supported 2G/3G/4G bands, and make sure your provider supports the functions that u need. thats it! if it has the bands, it will work. if not, then it wont. as easy as that

I heard that band 12 support had to be authorized by T-Mobile. I wonder if That was the case here.

I know volte is working because the HD voice as they used to call it is working. LTE Discovery doesn't work on my Mate 8 though so I can't tell if I'm actually on band 12 or not.

My wife has a Huawei Ascend Mate 2 which does not have band 12 but the call quality is great and sounds "HD" which means I'm skeptical that the Mate 8 is using the Band 12 T-Mobile VoLTE because Huawei could be getting that call quality through other means. Remember, this company has their hands in a lot of the back haul technologies too. My concern is the same reason why T-Mobile asked all 3rd party manufacturers to discontinue use of Band 12 Because there would be a potential to not be able to call E911 in an emergency.

An unlocked AL-10 should work on Verizon no problem but no one has tried it yet. My CL-00 sees Verizon's network (and only Verizon's network because it is CDMA / LTE only being a Telecom phone), I may try and get a friends sim card to see if it actually works though. Any of the other models don't have CDMA radios listed.
https://translate.google.com/transl...r.huawei.com/cn/mobile-phones/mate8/conf.html
Also to answer OP any of the models should work on T-Mobile with 4G LTE expect the CL00 model, in theory the CL00 model should even work but I've yet to see someone get it working, with that being said only 3 people on here have received them me being one, hopefully someone finds a solution.

I gave my Nexus 6 to the wife and VOLTE is definitely working on my Mate 8 because it sounds much clearer when I talk to her than most other people who don't have VOLTE. You can always tell when you're actually on it as it sounds like the other persons voice has a lot more high tone to it.

It will work fine. I am with Bell Mobility and the Beast Mate 8 works wonderfully well. Even better than devices I bought through my provider in the past.

Anyone figure out how to get wifi calling on tmobile?

I will let you know tomorrow after had a bit of time to test. I don't have 4G so can't comment on that though.
No probs on 4g rarely use that my galaxy mega pulls 20mb down on HSDPA in London which us faster than the 4g just wanna know how you think it is compared to your previous phone
Also how's emotionui only thing holding me back is wheter its any good. Root would be nice but I guess that will come
Honestly emui so much better than touchwizz or lg ui its crazy. Ignore these reviews from companies that need to.make revenue from the big players. Trust me I had m7 , lgg3 and many sammy units plus nokias and currently still have z2 out of all of them this ui is great. When you get it you will feel the same. If I thought it was crap I would just keep my z2 but I am selling it and keeping this. The ui is a mix betweeen lg and sammy. More lg but with some iphone touchs
Check my camera samples also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2940664
What is the version they sell?
Amazon uk now selling it Huawei Ascend Mate7 - Android Phone - GSM / UMTS by Huawei Deutschland http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NEEXACE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mXUCub0BXPHSE
No 4G then?
Just asked seller Expoitalyweb:
" Are you 100% sure it supports lte fdd band 3, 7 and 20?"
Thats what I got for an answer...:
"The connectivity is: Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n (WiFi Direct, WiFi WPS) Bluetooth: 4.0 USB 2.0 HS. For more technical details can be found at Huawei website directly. Best regards"
Clearly doesn't want this question to be asked..
This is my model from Amazon.fr using it on EE but have no 4G on my plan. I will check with wife's sim which is EE and 4g sim yo see if it works.
If that's L09 version than it shpould support LTE FDD Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. Let us know once you check with your wife's card, ok?

Help with finding the right AM7 model for the United States

Just want to start off by saying I've read a lot of posts on this forum and love the people and the phoneis awesome and so I really want one, but I don't know which model to get? I live out in the Midwest using T-Mobiles network. Which model will work best with T-Mobiles network and is their a model that supports 4G LTE that works in the US? If anyone can provide a link to the right model to buy for my situation or any information will be greatly appreciated!

You need to get model MT7-L09 with 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM. It is available for purchase on Amazon and ebay. The MT7-L09 is compatible with both the AT&T and T-Mobile GSM networks. LTE speeds should be available everywhere on T-Mobile with the MT7-L09, but it seems to only be available on AT&T in certain locations. I installed the LTE Discovery app from the Play Store on my Mate 7, and I verified that I am able to get an LTE connection on AT&T in certain places.
So I've found an MT7-L09 model on newegg but according to the info on it, it doesn't support 4G on T-Mobile. So does it truly support 4G or not?

I've had my MT7-L09 for 6 months now with service through MetroPCS, which runs on T-Mobile's network and I have 4G coverage. I get absolutely great speeds with my phone. I purchased mine through BHPhoto.

T-Mobile uses the following frequency bands for 4G/LTE:
1700 MHz & 2100 MHz AWS band 4
1900 MHz PCS band 2 (in refarmed areas)
Lower 700 MHz band 12 (in development) / in service in selected areas
The MT7-L09 supports bands 2 and 4, so it will get LTE data rates on the T-Mobile network pretty much anywhere. The phone will show "4G" when you are on LTE.
On the other hand, AT&T primarily uses 700 MHz band 17 for LTE. Since the MT7-L09 doesn't support band 17, you can't get LTE data rates on the AT&T network in most places. However, AT&T does use bands 2 and 4 in certain areas. Therefore, some people are able to get LTE data rates on AT&T with the MT7-L09, depending on where they are located.
I have AT&T, and my data rate alternates between LTE and HSPA+, depending on what part of the city I am in. Honestly, I don't even notice the difference between the two during normal use. I also own an iPhone with LTE, and the MT7-L09 seems faster even when it is on HSPA+.

That's correct.
LTE is the term used in North America
4G is the term used in the international
Another way to find out is to do a speed test
yes and no. LTE is more like 3.5G, true 4G hasnt surfaced yet. but yes, in public relation / press speak, "4G" equates to LTE

It depends on which AT&T market you live in, check with AT&T. In some of the more densely-populated cities, AT&T uses a variety of LTE bands. However, in many smaller markets and all of the Western US markets they acquired from Verizon when Verizon was forced to divest itself of them under the Antitrust agreement in the Verizon purchase of Altel, AT&T uses FUD 4G LTE band 17, which usually isn't included in many phones. Huawei has developed a US model which will work on AT&T in all markets, including those using FUD 4G LTE band 17, and it was cleared by the FCC in December. It's the NXT-L09, which will be a single SIM phone. Huawei has not announced a release date for the NXT-L09 yet; however, the Wall Street Journal interviewed Huawei officials for an article they did in December and and they indicated that they will begin to expand their presence in the US market in 2016 and bring more products to North America (in part to help develop new revenues to offset the decline in revenues due to the Chinese economic slowdown). I would expect the NXT-L09 to be released in Q2; their first focus on setting up production lines for the Mate 8 was for the Chinese and international dual SIM models. The production lines for the NXT-L09 probably won't be as large. FYI, LTE is a term used worldwide and stands for Long-Term Evolution.
Thanks

Surprisingly weak cell signal indoors

I'm a Tmobile customer who recently upgraded from Galaxy S5 to Mate 9. My new Mate 9 struggles to get a cell signal in my house, which prohibits sending/receiving texts and making/receiving calls. It mostly says Emergency Calls Only or No Service at the top of the screen. I did not have these issues with my mid-2014 device, so I'm surprised and disappointed to have them today. Could be a deal breaker in keeping the device.
Are there any settings or changes I can make within the device to improve signal strength?
That is surprising, as I've had much better reception compared to my Note 3. No settings changed, just popped in the SIM (after cutting it down to fit). But I should add that my Note 3 was an AT&T version, which did not support t-mobile's Band 12, so it's POSSIBLE that extra band has contributed to my better reception.

I kinda wonder if this phone actually gets band 12. There seems to be no way to see what band ur phones using and i get better reception by a lot at work and my apartment with my pixel xl than my mate 9. How can it be certified on band 12 with tmobile and not have wifi calling on tmobile?

I don't see why the two would be related. My understanding is WiFi calling is a somewhat proprietary function: WiFi calling on T-mobile is different than WiFi calling on AT&T, etc., so the software to use it is specific to the carrier. Band 12 is just another band. If the phone supports it (and it's supposed to), then it should work.
I live in a somewhat poor t-mobile spot: I typically only got 1 or 2 two at home, and 1 bar, to sometimes no service in the Kroger a block away from me. With the Mate 9, I'm getting 3-4 bars in both places.

But with band 12 doesnt you're phone have to be certified by T-Mobile to really work on band 12? I thot it did which in turn made me thing, why would it be band 12 certifed and not have T-Mobiles wifi calling certified?

I'm not aware of anything "special" about band 12 vs. any other band.
Yeah the exact opposite over here. Really strong signals indoor not to mention where my Nexus 6p and note 4 signals would be dead zero, I'm still able to get LTE. And yeah it does have band 12
I've tried my phone in Japan on Docomo and AU networks, and in the US on T-Mobile, and I haven't had trouble with reception at all. But obviously, this is totally subjective and is based on your location relative towers.
Total opposite for me, slightly better reception that with my previous phones.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll need to expedite a decision to either return it or hope for a resolution at some future point. Thanks!
yeap, band 12 (indoor) band sucks on my CHN 6/128 turned EU. I had a US Mate 9 and indoor reception sucked as well. My old LG V20 and Note 7 had better indoor signal.
I have 2 bars 4g where i couldn't have signal on other phones.

Tmobile LTE Bands

Will they support T-Mobile LTE band 71
Yea, I'm 99% sure. Since it will have Snapdragon 845 like the Galaxy S9- that supports b71. We should also see VoLTE and WiFi calling like in all other OnePlus phones.

Came here to ask a similar question. Now that the details and specs have all been released... I've always had carrier phones, currently with Tmobile. Using the op6 in north america(florida) will this phone get the same kind of reception and network speeds as a carrier branded phone would, like an s9 or lg bought from a tmobile store?
Thanks

I'm in PA but I can tell you my wife has an s9+ and although her reception is fine, mines better on the op6 on metro (which is T-Mobile). As for band 71, I don't have much of that deployed near me but I've used most other bands listed on oneplus' website so I think it'll work fine.

Why does this matter? I'm on T-Mobile and OnePlus 6 works like a charm. In full bar areas, I'm getting 100 mbps
