The WinDroid Toolkit is a Windows program built in Visual Studio using the C# programming language that simplifies the rooting process for many Android devices. The toolkit makes it easy to unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and gain permanent root. It also includes other functions such as flashing kernels, pushing files and installing apps. If you find it helpful, give me a thanks and a donation if you can. If you find a bug or have a feature request, feel free to leave a reply. Thanks!

It's possible that the Universal ADB Drivers aren't working correctly. Try the drivers Xiaomi gives here and see if that fixes it.

The toolkit uses the official Xiaomi unlock, so there's not much else you can do except wait for approval. I wish I had a magic command to unlock all Xiaomi devices.

Considering it was written in VS, and there is only an .exe download... Imma go with Windows only.
It's also called "WinDroid"
I think it is not very hard to memorize the equivalent linux commands.
Besides, we (the linux users) have to use the terminal from time to time anyway.

Since I've upgraded from the Photon Q (now rocking a Z3) I figured trying to give some life to the Q would be worth it. The Toolkit works fine. In under 10 minutes I had root access with only a few mouse clicks. I'll try flashing a ROM next to see how that goes, but for unlocking your phone, this one stop shop works perfectly.

Hi,
the tool is very straight forward. Unlocking the bootloader worked perfectly ( including guiding to motorolas website for the key) but it didnt install the recovery. I still have the stock recovery in it. What would be the problem do you think?
Thank you

I post this one specifically for the tool to give feedback, and afaik youre not the OP here. it didnt work as you can see then i try to flash the recovery via fastboot. then i posted on your thread.
so instead of crossposting, I was only informing the OP here about my experience about the tool. Please re-read what i post here, then compare what i post on the thread. On the other thread I clearly said i tried multiple methods, which includes this one as well.
You can just put your judgmental mode aside and get a morning coffee maybe...

Probably, since the toolkit just puts together most of the unlock/root tutorials on the forum into one program.
Alright thank you! But you're tool is still greatly appreciated, I'll probably be using it soon! Since you've made it so easy to do. Thank you again!
Can this be used as individual steps? Like if one just wants root, so they would just do step 3?
Hi,
I just tried your tool,
Unlock procedure was ok
But flash TWRP seems to have failed, because when trying step3, it rebooted on a Droid with red exclamation mark.
I forced power off by holding power, then reboot in bootloader and flashed manually TWRP using IMG from the official XDA thread : and it was ok
Maybe something (link ?) wrong in your tool ?
No file available in Logs directory.
Cheers,

It doesnt have a name. It is called Pro/Prime but its official name is just Redmi 4. Pro/Prime tags are just to distinguish it from the 2/16Gb version.
Well this lead to the development of custom roms or it's a no until the kernel source is released?

Two catastrophic bugs:
1. When backing up NAND, it always gives the error "Unable to unmount /system", altough it says the backup was succsesseful. Will this come back to bite me when I have to restore this NAND backup? Tried everything, from disabling MTP to switching from external SD to internal storage, always gives this error at the end.
2. Can't use MTP to transfer files at all in TWRP. PC simply won't recognize the device as MTP.

hi @cofface, may i humbly suggest you to add a proper tag to this thread as at the moment there is no official forum for this phone yet. with the tag in place, it will definitely benefit everyone when we do a tag search (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/redmi-4-prime).

hi @cofface, sorry for late reply.
in your thread, scroll to the bottom of the page, and look for a link, 'EDIT TAGS'. click on that link and add in the tags.
see attachment.
you can later do tag search like this:
- https://forum.xda-developers.com/tags.php?tag=redmi+4+prime
but i am not sure how to register the thread itself under https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/redmi-4-prime where you search through the 'Type To Find Your Device...' search box (see attachment). maybe @The Flash can help us?

It's normal and nothing to worry about.
Just unlock the bootloader, flash twrp and use the root method of your choice. I recommend magisk.
Thank you

What is it you want from s off?
You'd have to spend $$ to purchase "sunshine" and judging by your lack of experience you could blow your phone up and kill everyone in a 10 meter radius.
Unless you know what you're doing don't mess with s off.
Sunshine

You don't need s off to install a custom rom.
Since your rooted and have TWRP installed you just need to download the custom rom of your choice and flash it per the developers instructions.
I suggest @LeeDroid 's rom it's the best of the best IMHO.
LeeDroid U11 ROM thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/development/rom-leedroid-v1-0-0-beta-fast-stable-t3623657
Read and re-read the OP carefully and you'll be fine.
About halfway (or more) down the OP you'll see "A quick whistle stop tour of flashing a custom build". It'll tell you how to flash the rom. Search the thread for answers to any questions before asking. During installation of LeeDroid you'll have many choices... choose carefully.
Download Lee's latest version from @Droidit! 's r127 Drive link Here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dWzmwELXaJzziojW4c2ml06t4ZEhVgAc/view?usp=sharing
MAKE A TWRP BACKUP BERFORE FLASHING!
When a newer version is released the guyz (like Droidit! ) around there will post download links in the thread.
A must read thread:
[COLLECTION] HTCU U11 – RUU/Firmware/Recovery/OTA/Backups
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/collection-htcu-u11-ruu-firmware-t3612048
A lot of information and helpfull links for how to's... Read and re-read it.
It has a spreadsheet link to "HTC U11–RUU/Firmware/Recovery/OTA/Backups" downloads.

A couple of questions:
Which version U11 do you have?
Do you have ADB enviroment setup on your PC?
If not, You can go to the 15 seconds ADB Installer thread here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
For me ADB is a must.
Hope this all makes sense and helps you out.

Thanks friend, I'll try the suggestions
if something does not work out as expected I can use the back up to revert the process and leave the OS as it came from the factory, right?
