About
The WinDroid Toolkit is a Windows program built in Visual Studio using the C# programming language that simplifies the rooting process for many Android devices. The toolkit makes it easy to unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and gain permanent root. It also includes other functions such as flashing kernels, pushing files and installing apps. If you find it helpful, give me a thanks and a donation if you can. If you find a bug or have a feature request, feel free to leave a reply. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this and your hard work! Do you happen to know if root through this method will still break our camera?

Probably, since the toolkit just puts together most of the unlock/root tutorials on the forum into one program.

Alright thank you! But you're tool is still greatly appreciated, I'll probably be using it soon! Since you've made it so easy to do. Thank you again!

Can this be used as individual steps? Like if one just wants root, so they would just do step 3?

Hi,
I just tried your tool,
Unlock procedure was ok
But flash TWRP seems to have failed, because when trying step3, it rebooted on a Droid with red exclamation mark.
I forced power off by holding power, then reboot in bootloader and flashed manually TWRP using IMG from the official XDA thread : and it was ok
Maybe something (link ?) wrong in your tool ?
No file available in Logs directory.
Cheers,

Thanks for letting me know. I tested the TWRP flashing with my HTC and Nexus devices, but it may be different for Motorola devices.

you might have to include mfastboot though I'm not sure as I don't have my Moto E unlocked.

Just a heads up, this doesn't work on the XT1528 variant, due to it not being eligible for unlocking.

OK but I can't find apps to root my phone its lollipop motoe2 and kingroot e4root don't work
Even mobogienies PC app can't one click root it just tell me what's the best application to root without using boot loader my only motive is to use link2sd not flash ROMs so I need one click root please help
Pratham Nathyal ( MotoE2 3G, Lollipop5.0.2)

using this toolkit and choosing Moto E (2015) brings an error and thats it.

This toolkit worked like a champ to unlock my bootloader on my Moto E 2nd gen XT1526. Can't thank you enough, donation coming you're way.

@WindyCityRockr would this flash twrp to my LG g4 with unlocked boot loader? Sorry for off topic

I have some important points for your TODO list:
* Add error checking and error handling! (and *test* all error situations). Never assume when you build a tool for beginners that they have the correct USB drivers installed, or that they read and follow your instructions. Currently you even clear any error messages immediately, so users will never find out if something goes wrong and why.
* Indicate which versions of TWRP and CWM you have bundled with your tool.
If you address these issues, this could evolve to a nice tool to give to a newbie (even if I personally think that users who don't even want to learn the basics of a CLI should not try to install custom ROMs)
Great idea! Will test it out for you. :good:

you are welcome
to root jellybean you must unlock your device.
if you want to unlock you lose your warranty and wont get otas any more (only manually upgrade).
when you decide to unlock i would suggest to watch the video in the op to install cleanrom and your device is flying compared to stock rom (but your warranty is void)
cleanrom is based on stock firmware and has root, tweaks and much more.
I hope this helps

No, you can also downgrade to ICS, gain root, use OTA rootkeeper, and do incremental updates to JB (search for "dlpkgfile" for details).
So after unlocking the device there is no way to relock it, in case I have to send it back?

There are 85 results when searching for "dlpkgfile". Can you please be more specific or link to the tutorial you are talking about.
For what I have understand by reading. Is that to be able to use twrp and make backups, you need to unlock your device. But by unlocking you will void your warranty forever. Right?

No. Since there is no method of S-OFF that I can put in the toolkit without getting in trouble, I have not implemented one yet. I will work something out with rumrunner/moonshine/other S-OFF methods.
I am working on a new update already and it should be coming out soon. I will try to put an S-OFF section.

You need to make sure USB Debugging is on. Are you looking for sense ROMs or stock android ROMs? For ROMs, the original android development and android development sections for the Sprint HTC all have good ROMs. I cannot recommend one as that would be disrespectful to the developers who worked hard on their respective ROM.

Considering it was written in VS, and there is only an .exe download... Imma go with Windows only.
It's also called "WinDroid"
I think it is not very hard to memorize the equivalent linux commands.
Besides, we (the linux users) have to use the terminal from time to time anyway.

I'd like to give it a try. Not sure when I'll get time, but sounds good!
Sent from my PHOTON Q using XDA Free mobile app
Since I've upgraded from the Photon Q (now rocking a Z3) I figured trying to give some life to the Q would be worth it. The Toolkit works fine. In under 10 minutes I had root access with only a few mouse clicks. I'll try flashing a ROM next to see how that goes, but for unlocking your phone, this one stop shop works perfectly.

Hi,
the tool is very straight forward. Unlocking the bootloader worked perfectly ( including guiding to motorolas website for the key) but it didnt install the recovery. I still have the stock recovery in it. What would be the problem do you think?
Thank you

lol
I post this one specifically for the tool to give feedback, and afaik youre not the OP here. it didnt work as you can see then i try to flash the recovery via fastboot. then i posted on your thread.
so instead of crossposting, I was only informing the OP here about my experience about the tool. Please re-read what i post here, then compare what i post on the thread. On the other thread I clearly said i tried multiple methods, which includes this one as well.
You can just put your judgmental mode aside and get a morning coffee maybe...

I've never used this tool, I prefer to do things "the hard way" I suppose. Good luck.

It's possible that the Universal ADB Drivers aren't working correctly. Try the drivers Xiaomi gives here and see if that fixes it.

The toolkit uses the official Xiaomi unlock, so there's not much else you can do except wait for approval. I wish I had a magic command to unlock all Xiaomi devices.
