Hello all.
My mother is using an LG G Pro 2 D838 16GB White running on bone stock 5.0.1 for some months now. The phone is quite large and to make it a bit more useful to her I introduced her to Mini View, where you shrink the UI to a more manageable size. You swipe from left-to-right from the navigation bars to activate (or v.v.) -- MORE INFORMATION AT THIS ARTICLE HERE. http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-mini-view
It used to work well, but one day it stopped working. I swipe from the navigation bar and it CRASHES THE WHOLE PHONE. I cannot interact with the buttons nor access the notification bar up top. I cannot even toggle the power menu when I hold down the power key, I have to remove the battery and reattach it to force reboot.
Is the phone at this point
1/ soft-bricked that if I went to recovery mode I may never leave it and go on perpetual bootloop,
2/ with the wrong settings that have been ticked by accident, or
3/ fixable by wiping cache partition or factory resetting it?
Thank you for an earnest response.

Hello everyone, Hope all is well with you all. I bought the Boost Mobile Lg Tribute 2 [LG LS665] [android v5.1.1] about 3 days ago now and as with any new android based device I get, gaining root and installing a custom recovery becomes my first priority. Well gaining root was no problem at all for me using the KingRoot app but the problem occurred when uninstalling some system apps\ bloatware. I uninstall the same system apps every time I get a device with no problems whatsoever. On my new Lg Tribute 2 I didn't uninstall anything I haven't before except this time when I restarted my phone I was(and am everytime I restart now) greeted with the usual phone initial setup accept it starts at the accessibility screen. Now keep in mind that my phone is already setup and has apps installed. When I continue the setup it goes through as normal and all my apps and wallpaper are still there accept my status bar won't pull down and my home and menu buttons don't work anymore. When I restart as stated previously I'm confronted with the initial accessibility setup - choose language - choose wifi etc ..... What i have found today is that instead of going through the initial setup at each restart I can instead access the settings through the lock screen and when i choose Settings \Home screen\Select Home\ and pick 'Home' it simply bypasses the setup and loads the home screen which is great accept when I go that route my Home and Menu soft keys are still disabled (not highlighted and unresponsive) plus my status bar still wont pull down unless the phone is locked. What did I uninstall to do this. I can't remember what apps i uninstalled off the top of my head and can't find a list of preinstalled system apps on line to compare with. I know this is long so I apologize but I am stumped. Google search comes up empty as the Tribute 2 is fairly new as is 5.1.1 so any help would be appreciated very much. Also I for the life of me cannot find anything for the lg tribute 2 that could help me such as a working custom recovery, a stock image or any custom roms. Thank you for taking the time to read this very very very much.
Summary of problems:
1. Confronted with initial phone setup at each restart even though phone is setup.
2. My status bar won't pull down unless phone is on lock screen. (luckily because this gives me access to the phone settings and homescreen).
3. My soft home and menu buttons don't work at all ( only back button still works).
4. Cannot find stock image on line to reflash.

It sounds like you just need to complete the setup screen, is it connected to a Google account? I had a similar problem when I needed my Google password to complete setup. It's called Google FRP factory reset protection
I have the LG G4 (Verizon) which was upgraded to the stock Android 6.0 a few weeks ago. It is not rooted or modded. Last night I was sending some text messages when the battery died and the phone shut off. No problem, I'll just plug it in. However, when I did that the phone booted and said "updating app 1 of 1", which I thought was weird because it only does that when I upgrade Android versions.
So it boots into the home screen. I start playing around and here's what I notice:
--Wallpaper is different (stock)
--"Home" and "Show all apps" soft-buttons do not work. "Back" button works. (This is the biggest problem)
--Sound/haptic settings back to stock
--The top-bar swipe-down menu only contains current tasks, no buttons for location, airplane mode, hotspot, usb, etc
--Settings menu does not include option to connect to USB via different modes (Media, charge-only, etc). Connecting to a PC does not let me access to phone from the PC.
--My default text app was no longer the text app, although all my old texts are there
--Android version showed 6.0, and "last factory reset" was 3/6/16 at 10pm, which is weird because that is 36 hours in the future
I figured something got corrupted and I needed to do a factory reset. Upon trying to execute a factory reset from the settings menu, it displays the warnings and a list of my accounts that will be affected, but the "Reset Phone" button on the bottom is greyed out and will not let me click it. So I tried the other method....turned the phone off, held down power and vol down buttons, cycled power button when LG logo comes up. This causes it to hang there, then the Verizon logo comes up, then LG logo again, and will keep doing this back and forth as long as I cycle the power button on the LG logo. I never see a factory reset screen.
I backed up everything and need to nuke the phone or reinstall android somehow.....how do I do this without the ability to factory reset and without PC connectivity?? Or anything else I should try?? I don't want to take it to the Verizon store....

Verizon G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
I'm not sure if this is an AT&T LG V10 "feature", but I haven't used the phone in its virgin state (non-rooted) because I rooted the phone right away. I have an issue with the AT&T LG V10 with Android 5.1.1, H90010f "10f". Whenever I make a phone call, the home (soft) keys at the bottom of the screen his disabled and hidden from view and the notification status cannot be used, such that swiping down does nothing. I checked the Display > Home touch buttons > Hide Home touch buttons to make sure that nothing is disabled, but nothing there.
Anybody experienced this situation and knows a fix?

It doesn't disappear on the unrooted or rooted version of the phone so I don't think that's the issue. Do you have any Xposed modules installed that may be causing this issue perhaps (i.e. gravity box)?
Thanks for confirming. I think some other whacky things are a result of using Debloater v3.90 to disable stock apps and other apps caused issues with my phone, especially my second screen to become nearly disabled.
I'll most likely do a factory reset tonight since that was indicated to fix the second screen issue, so it'll most likely fix the soft keys disappearing as well.
Update: I did a factory reset and everything is fully functional as originally designed for. This restored the second screen functionality and allowed me to multitask and/or use the notification area while during a phone call.
Edit; was able to solve the problem by a hard reset.
If you are facing the same error (or in future) backup and hard reset.
Shut down phone and press volume up + power button simultaneously, when yhe huawri logo shows leave buttons and then follow on screen instructions.
mods please close thread.
Greetings, I am running Honor6x Nougat beta version (updated through Firmware finder, all feature's available)
since yesterday the phone had been acting up a bit so today I decided to factory reset. Everything had been fine up until 4 hours ago, when a black bar showed up on the right side of screen when making or receiving a call. Screenshot attached. After I saw it the first time, I ran the screen colour test and everything showed up fine. Restarted several times yet that black bar stayed. Help me out plz.
And as you can see, it isn't a layover over the stuff on the right side, it just pushed them towards the left and makes the call menu appear smaller.
So the whole process seems to have worked. I started my phone after the process, it updated the system and loaded up my lock screen. I unlocked the phone and the desktop remained black but all the symbols up top for wifi, charge level, app notifications, etc are showing normally. If hold the arrow in the bottom left it pulls up the dual screen option and I can load a limited number of apps and they work fine. I just can't see any other icons to actually use my phone. Any ideas?
