When I connect my phone to my PC, it shows up as a MTP device.
How do I make it show up as a USB Mass Storage device (aka like a pendrive)?

Pretty sure it doesn't, unless OPO completely rewrote the USB volume mounting routines... Android support for it was completely removed in Jellybean or KitKat I believe.

The Sony Smartwatch firmware updates automatically via the Bluetooth connection with the phone. My watch updated its firmware the first time I paired it with the phone and had the software installed. Is there a particular reason to struggle with the USB method?
Mine did the same. Checked this morning through USB just to see but was up to date.
I don't think it's necessary to struggle with the USB as it'll come automatically through Playstore and Bleutooth.

Hmm, that's curious, mine is still at .46, .80 is supposed to be the big update so I wonder what .60 is? Any noticeable changes on your watch? Could you head to the Play Store on your phone and check the version number of the SmartWatch 2 app from Sony, not Smart Connect. Mine is showing as 13 Dec, the 1.3.19 version.
As far as I am aware, there are no USB drivers for the smartwatch, so trying to plug it in to your PC shouldn't get you very far at all, unless there's some new tool from Sony I don't know about.

The one you quoted was the old firmware. Look carefully in your firmware version. There is a 3 instead of a 0 somewhere which makes yours the latest at the moment.

I can back this. With TWRP you can save backups directly to your USB OTG storage, which I find extremely handy. Not sure about other recoveries though...

It may not be an option in the official CWM but Playfulgods unofficial swipe builds have it working. No need to mount it. It auto mounts after plugging in the OTG. It's my recovery of choice for the N5. I've been using his version 6.0.4.5 for a long time now without any issues.

I tried 2 different portable USB fat32 / NTFS (500GB) neither of them worked. I tested the fat32 with note 3 N900 and note 10.1 2014 both worked with no problems.

Are you rooted?
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will not mount NTFS until SELinux is changed from Enforced to Permissive, this can only be done through Custom Kernel compiling.
I have managed to compile a custom Kernel and now I can change the tablet's SELinux from Enforcing to Permissive and vice versa and can also mount NTFS hard drives using Stickmount.
Those hard drives are available to any app that need to access them, like MX player or ES file explorer.
Please check the attached images

Finally both Mass storage devices worked with the help of external power supply ( used the wall charger ) but what a hell of wiring. I can't believe that note pro 12.2 can't generate enough power to do the job? maybe some developer can write custom kernel with the correct permission I HOPE.

Using my SD card from my old phone in my Z5. Has all my music on it.. However my playlists don't work as for some reason the SDcard is listed as "3962-3066" not "Sdcard1" so the paths to my music have changed.

I think it's something to do with SD card access for apps. I'd use a different file explorer for a start

You can create sdcard1 path by ln command if you have root,
but if you don't, you need to ask app developer to support 6.0.
