I tried 2 different portable USB fat32 / NTFS (500GB) neither of them worked. I tested the fat32 with note 3 N900 and note 10.1 2014 both worked with no problems.
Help needed is it hardware or software issue ?
Test and feedback
Note Pro 12.2 owners pls test and advice.
If you are rooted, try installing Stickmount from the Play Store.

Rooting Will Void warranty so I need some body to test before I send it back for repair.
It's a permissions problem. Only way I could fix is root and use an app like stick Mount and folder Mount

Are you rooted?
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will not mount NTFS until SELinux is changed from Enforced to Permissive, this can only be done through Custom Kernel compiling.
I have managed to compile a custom Kernel and now I can change the tablet's SELinux from Enforcing to Permissive and vice versa and can also mount NTFS hard drives using Stickmount.
Those hard drives are available to any app that need to access them, like MX player or ES file explorer.
Please check the attached images

Finally both Mass storage devices worked with the help of external power supply ( used the wall charger ) but what a hell of wiring. I can't believe that note pro 12.2 can't generate enough power to do the job? maybe some developer can write custom kernel with the correct permission I HOPE.

What kind of otg cable are you using ? 5-pin or 10-pin? Because the 5 more pin of 10-pin otg cable delivers more power!

Sony Xperia L doesn´t support USB OTG in an official way
Screw around with some stuff and try to figure out how to develop USB Otg support. Or maybe ( if you're too lazy. ) request USB OTG in a popular ROM. Are you even unlocked or rooted? You just bought your Xperia but who knows?

Well , first you need to root your device then you install StickMount app by Chainfire in google play then when you insert pendrive then click on mount option over there then download File Manager by Rhythm Software in google play then at path :sdcard/" you will get a folder over there , enjoy now you can use otg on a non- supportable device

In my way. It'll never works if ROM doesn't supported it.
For example my nexus 7, using stock ROM rooted and installed Nexus Media Import(USB OTG Mount) didn't work. But while changed to Custom ROM that in Settings - Storage that available if u have USB-OTG for mounting it works. so Basically it will supported by ROM that have feature for USB-OTG Mounter.

it was done for nexus 4, so i think can be done for XL too. however, you may need otg y cable to get 5v if device doesn't supply (like N4 users do)
usb otg
Hello, everybody.
I have discovered that with "USB OTG Helper" from Play Store
you can have OTG on Xperia L.
But Xperia L doesn`t give power to the stuff I´ve plugged in.
So I used a hub with external power supply and a wall outlet
adaptor to connect my pendrive and it works.
Hope I´ve helped you all.

Would like to know if recoveries support this?
So instead to ADB push the files everytime I re-flash, just have it on my USB drive and just install it that way...

I can back this. With TWRP you can save backups directly to your USB OTG storage, which I find extremely handy. Not sure about other recoveries though...

It may not be an option in the official CWM but Playfulgods unofficial swipe builds have it working. No need to mount it. It auto mounts after plugging in the OTG. It's my recovery of choice for the N5. I've been using his version 6.0.4.5 for a long time now without any issues.

hey guys,
I need some assistance please. I cannot get the USB OTG to work/enable in TWRP on my N920T Note 5.
I am running:

SkyHigh TW v3.0
TWRP 2.8.7.1
I did some research on google and still, no USB OTG access. I am seeing the option but when i select it, it stays blank. I have ROMS and backups stored on my USB and would like to access them please.
many thanks in advance guys.

+1 There was another 2.8.7.1 where OTG didn't work if still can't get it working. Funny thing is I never have to mount my OTG and it always works.
When I connect my phone to my PC, it shows up as a MTP device.
How do I make it show up as a USB Mass Storage device (aka like a pendrive)?

Pretty sure it doesn't, unless OPO completely rewrote the USB volume mounting routines... Android support for it was completely removed in Jellybean or KitKat I believe.
