Does anyone have an apk for gallery private for some reason it doesn't show up in my market and I can't seem to find it online any help is appreciated

as a new user, I can't post a link, but you can find a download link for the pro version at getandroidstuff-dot-com. just search for gallery private. once it returns the app from the search result, click on the gallery private app name and it will take you to a description page where you'll find a download link. or if you can find it elsewhere, that's cool too.
once you install it on your phone, it won't show up in your applications window, but you do have it installed. it's supposed to be discreet that's why it doesnt appear among your apps. instead, to access it, you have to add it as a shortcut to your homescreen. you'll see a G.P. (Pro) selection. just select it and it will create a shortcut icon on your homescreen, which you can drag into a folder if you want. Then bingo, you got gallery private and can modify the icon and the name!
Or search for audio manager on the market, its a private gallery for pics, vids, and anything you want to hide.

here is G.P. free. The easiest way to hide files is to use a file manage like astro and make a new file that starts with . (example .private) Any folders that start with the period are hidden folders and its contents will not show up on phone but you can still view them with the manager. you can then go to the settings in the manager and set it to not show the hidden folders. hope this helps
thanks everyone for the help i actually started using the audio manager one it works pretty good.

Hi bro. Thanks for share this app, but you can have the "G.P. (Free)" with "Search Files on SD" option?
Thanks so much.
I can't restore the old albums encrypted with this app... But your version not have a "search on sdcard" for encrypted old files with the app.
Thanks (again)

It might not show as an installed app. Try going to:
Settings > Language and Keyboard
and see if it shows as an installed keyboard. Tick the box and then see if there is a 'settings' shortcut for you to adjust the keyboard settings.
After, go to a text field (e.g. browser) and long press in it and select 'Input method'.
Go in to settings}language /keyboard and select it. Then go to any text field, like text messages and long press the empty field. Select input method and the select your keyboard.
Hope I didn't confuse you.

I assume by "my list of downloaded applications" you mean the list in Android Market. If you installed the app from an apk it won't show up there.
If you mean it doesn't show in your launchers app drawer, that's because it's a keyboard, not an app. Starting just the keyboard makes no sense so that option is not provided.
hey guys.. i found the solution. all i had to do was press on any space in mail or text where text is entered and a dialog would come up and ask me what keyboard i wanted.. thank you all for your efforts anyway..
I would like to disable SMS/MMS on my phone, and just use google voice. In fact, I don't even want the messaging app.
How do I delete completely, an installed app that's "built-in" to the ROM?
If you have root, you have two methods:
1. Titanium Backup and uninstall it.
2. Root Explorer to /system/app and delete mms.apk.
I'd make a copy for backup, just in case.
Don't delete it ... that's asking for issues.
You can replace the icon in the dock easily (app drawer, menu, view type, customizable grid, menu, edit, drag desired icon over stock icon, menu, save, menu, view type, alphabetical grid).
In the messaging app (inbox, not within a message), menu, settings, uncheck Notifications.
That way you can just ignore the stock app. It will be pretty much like its been uninstalled, but without the issues that come up when you remove stock apps.

I'd presume that OP doesn't want to receive texts at all, thus preventing him from getting charged by ATT. While I'm not sure that yanking the APK will do it (maybe change your SMS retrieval number?), it's more of a step in the right direction, as hiding notifications just hides the fact that texts are coming through.
If the OP wants to block texting, a call to AT&T should fix that.

Just delete the SMS center number in messaging/advanced settings. Without that number, the phone can't retrieve the message. To disable mms, just uncheck mms retrieval(or something like that) in settings.
I'm running MIUI, and I completely uninstalled the stock messaging app, using Handcent in it's place.
Aren't you able to freeze the sms. apk using TiBu or is that only available with the paid version?

I think that's a paid app feature. But, you need root to use it.
Is there an easy way to delete a bunch of duplicate contacts on your Galaxy S3?

Go to contacts --> settings softkey --> delete --> select the contacts to delete by checking the box in front of them and hit delete.
Or if one is on your phone and the other on the SD/SIM/Google/WA/Whatever: contacts --> settings softkey --> Contacts to Display --> whichever one you need.
Alternatively, sync them with Google and delete them through your Gmail. Which is more work, if you ask me.

I was going to move this to the S III forum, but you can't really argue with the above answer, so...there you have it.
Hi all. I can't seem to find where to set the default address book to pull up when using the phone app. All I see is all contacts at the top which is definitely not what I want. Thanks!

Go to the people app, on the bottom right tap on the 3 dots and you will see an option to choose which contacts are displayed.
Hope this helps.
