[Completed] Quick Question Can you replace a Samsung S5 G900I digitizer with a G900F digizer? - XDA Assist

Okay so I smashed up my S5 the other day pretty badly and now I plan on repairing it.
The glass is smashed and the digitizer is broken but it makes the boot noise and google now works as well as s-voice so I think that after the digitizer has been replaced it should work. I've tried to view the screen through a computer using adb with usb but I don't think usb debugging was enabled because it didn't work. If anyone has any ideas on a way I can check that it will work after I replace the screen that would be great.
Okay so the main question: I have a full sized Samsung Galaxy S5 G900I (the Asia/Australian version) and was wondering if anyone knew if I could replace the digitizer and screen assembly with one from a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F (the fullsize UK version). This is because I'm living in the UK and was hoping to replace the screen/digitizer with used one from the UK model.
Any help is much appreciated and if this has been posted before then could someone link me to it please because I've done some searching but haven't found this question. If there's any other info that I've left out just say

From my searching it seems they have the same screen specs.
and most of the other Galaxy S 5 digitizers from the G900 series are universal. The difference between these two phones are the LTE speeds.
If you have a low budget I wouldn't recommend risking it due to lack of information, but if you have 120$ you're willing to blow, go ahead, and if it works well now we know it works and other people with this problem can use this thread a reference. I hope this helps!

Thanks for clearing that up, I'll probably end up trying to repair it because I loved that phone. I'll post back if I do.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE SGH-I727R Broken top screen

Hi Folks,
So I broke the top screen on my SGS2 LTE SGH-I727R (ROGERS)! the Touch screen works and so the display!
First, I'm looking for screen replacement but all I get is replacements for SkyRocket with AT&T logo on them! Please anyone has a reference?
Second, I'm not sure of what I should repair! available screen naming varies with titles that include Digitizer, touch screen, top glass screen, full LCD screen. I'm confused whether to replace whole screen!
Thanks for help in advance!
Anyone please!?
I did the same thing to my phone this past weekend. The screen underneath looks fine, only the top glass is cracked but the phone is still fully functional. I have this exact thread in the Q&A section. After reading/searching, we need the touch panel aka digitizer - see this link for an explanation (we don't need the LCD, which is the expensive part!):
http://www.parts4repair.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-i727-complete-screen-assembly-with-bezel/
In my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680623 someone said they sell these everyday on ebay for 50 bucks or less, but I sure as h3ll haven't been able to find one. If anyone has gotten one of these in the past or can help us out please let us know!
Ebay has just the glass lens for $20
any luck?
Hey,
I've only had my LTE for about a week..but i was wondering if you had luck changing just the glass, or if it's impossible (as a lot of videos out there lead me to believe?).
I also have the skyrocket..no gorilla glass....
anyone? !
Did anyone ever find a resolution to this? I'm only able to find i727 replacement parts and it is my understanding that the i727r is a different size device..

International digitizer on AT&T model fitment...?

Hey all,
Quick question here... Firstly, yes, I am a noob. I have an HTC One X on AT&T. My brother actually helped me root it and I'm running the Xi40 ROM I found in these developer forums.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, I dropped my precious One X, and cracked the screen. The LCD underneath was fine. I was considering replacing the screen/ digitizer myself, but after plenty of reading, it was just too much for me. So I had a local repair shop replace it. When they replaced the screen/ digitizer, they broke my original LCD, so they replaced the the whole combo (being screen/ digitizer/ and LCD). Well they actually put a international version of the digitizer in my device, and I know, because instead of saying "AT&T" at the top, it says "HTC"...
The replacement doesn't sit totally flush to the device, but I can push it in and it seems like there's space for the screen to fit it. Basically was the repair done wrong, or is the international screen actually different from the US version that's disallowing it to fit flush to the device?
I'll try and get pictures up later if anyone is interested.
Cheers.
I dont think the screens have any differences between the international version and the ATT version so maybe they just did the procedure wrong

Thanks for the insight. Currently I'm just trying to push it into place or something, hoping it will snap in. Any cases you guys would recommended that wraps over the sides to maybe help the screen stay flush?

He didn't do the best job putting it in, then again a lot of us got our phones with the screen not sitting flush as well.
and it isn't necessarily the T3 international version, the Rogers version (which is the same S4 variant) also says Htc on top. Either way though, you're fine.

That may not be true. The Teg3 One X uses panels from Acer and Sharp whereas the XL uses Sony panels exclusively. It seemed kind of odd but if they are actually sized differently it makes sense.

need a lcd, touch pro 2 fit the 7 pro?

Hi, i am in desperate need of a lcd display for a 7 pro but they are seriously hard to get hold of!
I have looked on ebay and theres only ones from HK or China and even then the sellers feedback on screens is poor!
I have phoned countless repair shops in the uk and only a couple claim to be able to get hold of the screen but then demand that they fix the phone themselves and a stupid fee and will not supply the screen to me.
one thing i have noticed it that the touch pro 2 and 7 pro screens look identical apart from the colour of the ribbon that connects them to the main cable that goes through the slide body.
there is no visual difference between the screens or connector cables other thab colour and they have the same specs also-
480 x 800 pixels, 3.6 inches and a 259 ppi pixel density
Does anyone know if they are actually interchangeable or not? i cant find a screen anywhere and my wife is not pleased with me right now as ive only just got the phone and a broke the lcd trying to remove the digitizer even though i was ultra carefull and used lots of heat, please can someone help!!!!
Thanks, Steve.
Hello! To most simply answer your question, no. The screens are very different despite looking similar. The old TP2 screen is not multitouch and WP7 requires this. Also, the old screen utilizes a stylus while the newer 7 pro screen doesn't even recognize that type of touch.
It is your phone after all, so if you would like to try this that's your choice. However its too much effort to affix the ribbon to the pcb to even make it worth it. My old TP2 has a cracked digitizer which I have a replacement for, but the ribbon is machine pressed onto the pcb and reattaching this connection would be very difficult without the type of heat/pressure used in the manufacturing of the phone.
If you decide to try it let us know the results!
I'm sorry, I just seen you said the lcd itself, I thought you were meaning the digitizer screens.
That being said, maybe the swap will work, as long as they hook up the same?

i found a seller with genuine touch pro 2 screens who is willing to take it back if it does not work for me, i will let everyone know if it works!
I can confirm, the touch pro 2 screen does NOT work in the 7 pro, it is almost identical but the conector is at most 1mm wider than the 7 pro but its enough to stop if fitting into the socket
Back to the drawing board for me i guess.

not been on for a few days, thankyou for the link its still there and in europe!
I bought another 7 pro handset as i could not wait any longer, i had been forced back to my old Touch pro (raphael) and although not a bad phone and running a custom 6.5.3 rom , it just cant cope on the web anymore as all the standards have changed and nobody is supporting windows mobile anymore.
Its a shame cos windows mobile is by far a better operating system than windows phone, updated and running on better hardware it would have rocked.
even though i bought a new handset ive always intended on fixing the other one when i get the chance and have put a bid on that screen to remove the buy it now.
Fingers crossed that it dont go up in price, my wife will kill me if spend much more on these phones lol
once its fixed its going to go in its box and live in a safe place till ive worn out this new one, dont think i wll sell it, thanks for your help, you get a thanks meter point for this :good:
Steve.
You are welcome I was a little worried you might not get to the link fast enough but thankfully you did! I seen that and figured its a steal considering the lcd is nearly that price alone, plus all the work needed to change it. Good luck I hope you win it
Thanks geeze

as long as you get the right screen, theres no reason why you cant do it yourself, just go slow, very slow, read tutorials and be very carefull of all cables and boards inside. if it its the glass digitizer that is broken and not the whole display, be very very carefull when removing it from the lcd as theres a big chance of breaking the lcd as its removed, heat to relax the glue is your friend! if the glass is shatterd, removing the glass bit by bit instead of trying to remove it all at once may proove easyer and less risky on the lcd.
Good luck, steve.

[Q] galaxy tab 2 10.1 p5113 screen replacement help!

so about a week ago I purchased a tab 2 from a "friend". he said it had a cracked screen and he just replaced the digitizer. and it looked good and everything. so I paid him, then got home and noticed there are 2 zones on my screen that are completely unresponsive. he also replaced the back case of it, and its the wrong one. so I told him about the screen and he just said sorry, guess I didn't use it enough before I sold it to notice it...so I cant get my money back or anything, so im taking it upon myself to fix this.
I know the digitizers have different rev's. right now it has a rev 3 digitizer. my "friend" also threw away the original digitizer so I have no clue which one I need.
my questions is, is there any way to figure out which exact digitizer I need??? or is it possible that the rev 3 is the right one and this one is just gone bad/cheap?
I need help ASAP! I want this fixed and sold and off my hands. I also already searched around for a solution but found nothing....
thanks to anyone that can help!

I know this is late but if it's a REV.03 you should get another REV.03. As long as it works it's the right version. Your screen is either defective, has dirty contacts (use eraser to clean), or inserted crooked.
Mine on the other hand has no REV# printed on the digitizer cable and I can't figure out which one works with it. I have a REV.01 and REV.03 right now and neither of them work. Only the mysterious original screen with a crack will work.
Different revisions on digitizers
I noticed there are several revisions on digitizers. Mine apparently is a REV 0.0 since there are no markings. I asked a supplier and they told me what revision I have. They also said they did not stock REV 0.0. My question is does anyone know a good supplier that carries all revisions of digitizers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is for a GT-5113TS
I"m in the same boat!
Hi, I have exactly the same issue, I've tried a rev 3 and it doesn't work at all. My original works fine but is shattered and there are no markings at all on the flex cable. I was also told that mine is a rev 0.0 but can't find one anywhere. I noticed that if you look closely at the connectors on the flex cables the original has all of the contacts and the rev 0.3 is missing the #2 contact. Let me know if you find one that will work.
I just swapped out a broken digitizer with a REV02 and it doesn't work, on the broke one it doesn't say REV but it has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238. Does that mean its REV03?
same problem
I broke my tab screen a while back and have so far been sent two note screens' and 4 screens of what i imagine are either wrong version or defective. Dod you ever solve your problem

Note Edge N915S Screen Replacement Question

So I recently broke the screen to my phone and it was working fine but yesterday I started to get lines across the screen and cannot use anymore.
Figured its time to finally buy a replacement screen and I want the one already on the frame. I just can't seem to find one specific to the Korean models the 915 S/K/L.
Instead there are only ones for 915 P/T which is the American models. After looking between the 2 frames many many times I can only spot one difference between the two which is the positioning of the thermal tape right under the one for the CPU. All in all I think it should fit but still hesitant. Does anyone have experience replacing screens on the Edge who has any experience you could share with me.
The first picture is of the frame from my N915S and the second frame is for a listing I have been looking to buy which is for the N915P
Welp, I just tried my luck and ordered the part in and it fit everything without a problem.
For anyone in a similar situation for me it seems like the frames for this phone will fit with all models.

My screen is broken. It's not annoying but i hate it. How in lord's name did you manage to replace your glass and how much did it cost and how much did it cost to replace and where did you replace it at?

Replaced it myself, it's easier to buy the entire frame assembly + screen rather than just the screen as taking off the screen off the frame is a pain.
Also if you buy frame + screen you have a better chance at finding OEM parts rather than chinese knockoff.
Gotta warn you though the replacement for a screen costs more than some whole phones.
Something like this would be optimal: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Excellent-Bl...241748?hash=item4af43d5b94:g:VxkAAOSwT4lWThZa
Tutorial on how to swap over all the parts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYEwEHRki_8
Mine is the Korean model the 915S and the frame I bought was for 915T and 915P but everything still fit so it shouldn't matter which model frame you buy.

Thanks I'll check it out. And yeah while the pricing is huge, this phone is a one of a kind phone. It still doesn't justify the pricing but I'll let it slide because of how much this phone has helped me out with the multi screen and its note taking features

That's the exact same reason why I wanted to get this fixed. I usually sell off phones before buying a new one but want to keep this around as the first curved phone I ever owned.
Also found out that the headphone jack needs to be replaced with the one that matches your motherboard. Was trying to get audio to work in my car for hours before finding out that the issue was on the phone haha
I have ordered this one
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fast...90.html?spm=2114.13010208.99999999.274.5R2YVv
for a common dreaded problem of having vertical green lines appearing on LCD from nowhere (although my fault, it got it dropped on flat floor from my shoulder height a couple of times). In my case the green lines are appearing on the edge panel itself only, so the old LCD maybe useful for me to keep just for an emergency replacement as well.
Does this one looks ok, I mean any of the replacement LCD+Frame+Digitizer combo ordered from either ebay or china would rather be coming from only a handful or sources (resellers), and maybe only one or two manufacturers (who might be manufacturing it as OEM as well).
How was your experience with the replacement LCD, does it looks and feels just like original in screen clarity, colours and touch responsiveness.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

I bought mine with a cracked screen and replaced it myself. It was my first time repairing a smartphone and I followed the same instructions as the Youtube video linked above.
I found the process quite easy, luckily most of the components have screws and the video is easy to follow so I was done after 20 minutes. I can't compare with the previous screen by if I do a comparison with other phones we have at home (Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, Nexus 6) the screen looks fantastic!
