UICC Unlocked? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I woke up this morning to a message on my screen saying that my UICC has been unlocked. I am stock unrooted. The only mod I have done was add ",dun" to unlock my hotspot. I wish I had taken a screenshot of the message before I cleared it, but I didn't. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a problem for me?
Thanks for any input.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that's the message you get when your Note 5 is unlocked to be used on an international carrier.

Before I posted, I searched and saw similar results. But I haven't changed my plan nor have I contacted Sprint to make the request for international travel. I just wonder why it automatically did that. I am going to restart my phone and update profile to see if it resolves and/or happens again.
*** When I went into the settings to update the profile, I see UICC Unlock. Out of curiosity, I clicked it and got the same message as before. Must not be as big of a deal as I thought it would be. Still wonder why it did it on its own.

[Q] Bought Used 1S, only working on AT&T

Alright so, as the title says, bought it from Craigslist and it currently won't work on T-mo. The guy was on the phone with it before I bought it (saw him) so it obviously does work. Do I have to flash a t-mo radio or can I just factory reset and it'll be fine? I don't really mind not having root at the moment. It's on LeeDrOiD if that helps. Will post any other necessary info.
So you installed a T-Mobile SIM and it said it wasn't an authorized SIM? Or are you trying to connect to T-Mobile with an AT&T SIM? Otherwise it should work fine.

My previous T-mo SIM. So I guess it's unauthorized for the device but I've had the Sim (of course) for years.
Weird. Is it an international One S, or does it say T-Mobile on the front? I've never heard of being able to lock a device to a new carrier...
You could always try the SIM unlock tutorial that's in the development section.

Is the current sim active? It should work but not WiFi calling. Try to go T-Mobile store and grab another sim.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
the first thing I would do is head down to a T-Mo store to get a new sim card.
Yes, the SIM is activated. Been using it for about 5 years now, was in my N1, Sensation, and a flip phone for a while. Though I did get it cut for micro-SIM from a cutter (not done by myself). Perhaps it got screwed up? Though in the settings it can still pick up my #. And yup, it has T-Mobile at the top. Alright, I'll swap out the SIM and bump this up if that doesn't work.
More info: It keeps popping up to register with a network, and I select t-mo but it says "unable to register with select carrier".
Good chance it is blacklisted. People sell phones locally and then dont pay their bills on contract or report it lost or stolen and TMobile blacklist the IMEI. I learned my lesson. It happened to me twice over Craigslist. It will only work on ATT if it is. You can call TMobile or go into the store and they can tell you if it is.

I would almost bet that a new sim will solve your problem here. I remember when I got a new phone with T-Mo and still had a 6-7 year old sim card. I put it in the new phone and it would not work due to incompatibility with the new network specs etc. A new sim solved the problem. Let us know how the new sim works.

The specific error I get is "your SIM does not allow a connection to this network." So I don't think it's blacklisted. I'll report back tomorrow whether or not a new sim work/it actually was blacklisted, though.

that happend to me in my tmobile sensation. i bought a T-mob htc sensation 4g and unlocked it to use it in telcel mexico, after some months i decided to change company and put it a movistar simcard, but it didnt read it; the phone was re-locked to telcel in a strange way (i dont know how)
the only thing i did, was to re-use the unlock method for the htc sensation and everything was fine again...
so, try to use the unlock method for the htc one S and check if that helps you

I agree.
Networks have changed a lot in the last few years. A 5-yo sim card is likely to be the cause of the problem.
If the network is just sim-locked you would get an 'Insert unlock code' message [or similar].

Update:
Alas, getting a MircoSim did not work. Perhaps it is blacklisted (I tried asking the guy there and he said he couldn't check, ugh). So, For now, I'm going to try to get a refund (guy said he was willing to) or try to trade it on Craigslist for something that will work. Unless someone can send over a quick guide on how to unlock the SIM reader. I tried the one that is posted and I never got the options that should have popped up.

Try this, on dialer hit
*#*#4636#*#*
Choose "Phone information"
Scroll down to Radio, see if it's On or Off.
Maybe pretty with it, turn it off turn it on see if it give you anything
When my One S was blacklisted, it gave me the same error.
You can call or chat online with T-Mobile support, and they'll tell you if it's blacklisted.

Will check tomorrow whether it's truly been blacklisted or not. And I had actually tried the radio thing earlier I was very hopeful that would work.

[T-mobile USA] No service issue

I have had the phone for 2 months and it has been rooted and I was using it with TrickDroid V4.3 for about a month now. All of a sudden this morning, the phone stopped connecting to any tmobile towers and has been displaying no service all day. I tried the usual fixes (re-seat SIM, hard reset, restore to stock) and nothing has fixed it. All the other features of the phone work, just cannot get cell service. I have tried a different sim card in the phone and it doesnt work, and my sim card works in another phone so that narrows it down to my hardware.

Yeah, looks like it was blocked because the person i bought it from on craigslist never paid the installments for the phone. It seems like a very stupid system that t-mobile would block the IMEI instead of just going after the person defaulting on the payments.
Given that I will not be able to unblock it using conventional methods, is there really anything else I can do? Would it be useful to somebody in a different part of the world? Can I use Att on it? Will Straight Talk work on it, or does that eventually get routed to tmobile also?
Thanks!

You don't need to party for an unlock code. There's a tutorial in the dev section to tell you how to get it.
That's why you really have to be careful buying on Craigslist.

OP,
Beware that some carriers share their blacklists between each other in an effort to "help" each other avoid bad customers.
Just food for thought.
Also, just thinking about this. You say it was working just fine then suddenly quit working. The story behind the phone's failed installment payments doesn't sound logical to me given the fact that you say it was working until just the other day.
Same thing was happening to me... I was confused.
But must have just been tower issues for me.

Sometimes it does take a while for the blacklist to kick in. Think about it, if the guy is not making his monthly install payment it might 30 days+ before they bl the phone.

Xfinity Mobile

Hello all, I just activated my Samsung S8+ on Xfinity Mobile this past Tuesday and I still have not received the May security update. I was wondering if anyone read anything about how they are going to push the monthly updates? I have been searching Google but of course because it is so new there is a lack of information.
It hasn't been released yet.

Does your VoLTE work? I have the unlocked version flashed to xfinity and I can't find the VoLTE setting.

So you can use data while on a call WITHOUT WiFi being on? Mine shows 3G all the time with WiFi off. I was thinking it was a SIM compatibility issue between the LG X Power and S8+. My SIM from my Note5 wouldn't work in my S8+ on Sprint. Had to have a different one.

It's set to global. I have trouble getting LTE period. I can use Rom Control and force to LTE and web is OK. No calls though. Toggle is missing. Same thing, I can enable VoLTE with Rom Control and can see the toggle. NO voice calls though. Says out of service area. Maybe it's because the LG X Power doesn't support VoLTE and the account isn't provisioned for it. I put the SIM card back in the X Power and I can't get 4G on there now. A tier 2 tech was poking around my account yesterday. Don't know what he did. He hung up on my. LOL

APN settings appear correct. Compared that with the LG. My LG has a username and password though. I take them out and I have no data at all. The S8+ has data with the settings like yours. I can edit the APN settings on the LG where as they are locked on the S8+. Weird since this is an unlocked U1 phone. Had to flash the Xfinity firmware to get text to work though. Hopefully that didn't lock the device to Xfinity. The tier 2 tech wanted the IMEI from there S8+. I gave it to him and he said that was for the LG X Power. I had the S8+ box in front of me and even pulled it from the phone. Still said that it belonged to the LG. Then he hung up on me. Not a word since.

Hmmm, maybe he did you a favor actually.
I just flashed the U1 firmware to my Xfinity device and all the APN stuff is editable. Phone shows as a U1 model too. Everything is working great. I found everytjing in thr AT&T section of S8+.
Can you flash back to U1 firmware, pop the X mobile sim in (get the device all set up first before putting SIM in) and then do a manual search on service provider section of mobile connections? The tech may have locked that SIM to IMEI, but that's a good thing if you are wanting to use that SIM on S8, right?
Go in to network operators and pick top option (search networks) and let it search for a while. Then you should have a list like my second attachment. Oh and don't mind my lack of cell signal lol, I was jacking around with all of the editable options available now.
Be sure and set Bearer to Unspecified (with nothing else selected). Save before exiting. Added third pic to show I am on LTE+ on U1 firmware with X mobile SIM, but this SIM was always tied to this IMEI as it is Xfinity Purchased phone.

google pixel on verizon won't OTA???

Was with ATT, no issues updating. Went over to Verizon Pre-paid. Phone will not OTA. Have spent 6 hours on phone with Verizon and google, nobody can figure it out. Not rooted, ever. We removed sim, no OTA. Wiped Network settings, nope. Safe boot, nope, factory reset, nope. My nexus 6p with "no carrier" (wifi calling only) updating perfect, my wife's 5x on cricket updating perfect, but not the pixel. Refuses ever since put on Verizon.
My theory is since Verizon sells a pixel, Google knocked me off OTA thinking Verizon supports it. Verizon says they didn't sell it, unlocked, so they won't push updates. Getting nowhere.
Anyone have thoughts or experience doing this same thing?
What about pulling the SIM and manually check for updates via wireless? If that fails you could also ADB sideload it.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Or flash the whole image if you arw unlocked.
Sideload it. Then you'll get next months OTA.

They are sending you a refurbished phone. If you like your original device why not sideload the OTA now before you replace it. You can return the refurb if the ota sideload works. Seems to me like you had a very nice working Pixel until you didn't get one security update. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Just an opinion, do as you feel necessary.
Well, it also refused Oreo 8 update, and some other minor issues, and yea, I want to keep it, but my phone is watched/tracked by my broker-dealer (securities licensed) and I am forbidden to side load or root. This is to protect Clients. real bummer. Equifax has no repercussions, but I'm so locked down on cell phones and computers you can't believe it.

Oh, that's another story then. So they pay for your phone, usage and any replacements? Might be time to get a personal device with your own phone number. I'd never trust that kind of stuff. So when you get another device then they won't want to track that one? Didn't you say that it was on ATT and everything including updates was working fine? I think I'm missing some of the story. Either way, good luck with the replacement.

I had a very similar situation...I am on VZW and regularly got OTAs until about 6 months ago then they stopped. I also use a SIM from Project FI when I travel abroad. Somehow switching between the two caused OTAs to be ignored. My device is unrooted, bootloader locked and for corporate security purposes we have Aiwatch Agent to monitor violations. I am able to sideload via ADB and it is quite easy....it is definitely not the security risk that flashing a ROM is on an unlocked phone. Might be worth a shot.
Weirdly, OTAs came back to me after I registered for the O beta. Good luck.

Switched to Samsung's message app over Google's. That seemed to work at first.
I switched to LTE/CDMA in network settings.
I downloaded Google Carrier services which probably does nothing but I did it anyway.
I don't know what else I can do.
Is your phone's date and time correct? Try setting your date and time manually instead of auto.

Yes, it's correct. I haven't set it to manual yet but I will test it.
I'm going to contact Verizon and see if perhaps a new sim will fix it. I have no idea what could be the issue. I would understand better if it just didn't work at all, but the fact it does work sometimes and not others is strange.
My son was having similar problems until he enabled the RCS under messages. I think he was using Google Messages, but I think it can be done under Samsung's messaging app as well. Hope that helps.
Edit: same scenario, VZW with the unlocked version of the device.

Was worth a try I guess. He was getting messages from his mother's iPhone but nothing from me until he set that up, and then everything came through at once. Sorry it didn't help in your case.

I may do a factory reset. If that doesn't work, I'll contact Verizon for a new sim, or see if they have any ideas about what might fix it.

Idk if you've resolved it or contacted them yet. Either way if you need the sun I recommend googling 5G verizon sim and clicking the link to the verizon page for it. I contacted a few reps and they told me I couldn't order a new one online but had to go in the store. Store is too far so shipping is easier. I was able to select the 5G sim for the line.
I know if the phone doesn't register with their servers properly, you won't get access to their CDMA bands. Which results in the same issues as if you have like a OP7P on Verizonm you can send but not receive messages. You have to have them provision the line as CDMA-LESS so it sends your SMS over LTE as well, and viola it works. (OP7P doesn't have the proper CDMA radio to access it, but the OP8P does but it still doesn't work unless Verizon sells you the phone). Worth a shot. SMS works on my unlocked N20U on Verizon but my line was previously already set to CDMA-LESS as I came from a OP7P.

I did a factory reset last night and it seems to be working better today but I still experienced issues. I'm going to get a new sim. Now if I could just get the chat service on Verizon's website to work. I might have to call them because the chat service seems broken.
Do you have a direct link for the 5g sim page? I searched google but didn't see it. I'll keep looking.
[edit] I found the page, but it's broken. It loads and then goes blank. I tried it in 3 different browsers and it does the same thing in all of them. I always have trouble with Verizon's site. It's complete garbage.
http://https://www.verizon.com/support/4g-sim-card-faqs/ That's the link I used and under section 4. I logged into my account and it had me select the line. I have been having issues with Verizon support and account pages for the past month or so as well.

Yea, that's what I found. When I get to the slect a line part it shows while it's loading but then the whole page goes blank. I've tried 4 different browsers now and the same happens on them all. Verizon needs a new web admin because their site is broken and has been for ages. Crazy that such a large company could have such a broken site. Now I'm going to try the app. If that doesn't work I guess I'll call them tomorrow.

This is what happens. It goes from this: https://gyazo.com/66cc63bc7d67af551edb28ae491f7b12
To this: https://gyazo.com/d0e600d9208bb4f26b2eb1881eda4cfd
All 4 browsers do this.
[edit] I was finally able to reach support via the myVerizon app. I have a new sim on the way.
