If you flash the stock firmware with Odin you do not lose your data.
If you want to completely back to its original state, you have to make after a factory reset.
Without Factory Reset You keep your data [emoji41]

You can use the flash-all.bat in the factory 5.1 image as long as you remove the -w. The -w is what tells it to wipe. Once that is done, you will be on 5.1 and you can then re-root by booting into a custom recovery (fastboot boot recovery.img) and installing the root.zip from there. That will get your root back.
Since you are already rooted, I am assuming that your device is already unlocked.
Hi all,
I have Nexus 5 Android version 5.1 (LMY47I), rooted, unlocked bootloader and TWRP.
As we all know OTA doesn't work with rooted devices...
Is there a way to update to Android 5.1.1 flashing the OTA zip file without losing data (apps data, pics, vids, etc) ?
By the way which should be the right file? LMY48B or LMY48I ?
Whats the difference?
Thank you.
Many say that we shouldn't use toolkits, but Nexus Root Toolkit has the option to flash new version without wiping. I have used it and everything has worked perfectly. But I suspect a clean install is always safer.

Hello guys,
I updated my Edge to 6.0.1 a few days ago and I found myself extremely stuggling to get twrp and xPosed on my device since then.
Now I'm wondering if all i need to do to downgrade back to 5.1.1 is to flash AP via Odin or if i need to flash everything else (BT, CSC..)?
Please help
Just flash a fw via odin like you would normaly do. Just perform a factory reset after it.

Just flash a stock firmware via Odin if you are rooted or not, and you don't either need to perform a factory reset as flashing a stock firmware with Odin will wipe all data, system and so one as far as I know

You'd better remember, or try to recover your samsung account, because if reactivation lock is on, you won't be able to flash without having to enter your samsung account credentials
what can i do if odin fails?
hi everyone so this may be a stupid question however I wonder, there will be probably soon an update to marshmallow and i'm willing to update mine rooted lollipop rom.
would it be better if I unroot it by flashing my stock rom with flashfire and then update or wouldn't it be a problem if I update my rooted phone with the Ota?

Flashing stock with flashfire is more risky than applying OTA on a rooted phone. The best would be to wait for a kdz image of V20a/6.01, flash over the phone wiping all data.

Rename ur unrooted system img to rootedsystem.img and then flash it using download mode (theres a few threads showing you how to do this i done it and it worked for me and i dont like taking risks but ive done it alot times) after that put it on ur phone and flash it the same way u flashed root it worked for me 5 times and i dont like taking risks and your phone goes back to stock without deleting data or any information

Hello guys,
maybe it is a stupid question but i have unlocked my bootloader and restored TA Backup a couple of month ago. Then i flashed back full stock rom with flashtool unrooted as it is. Now i want to root and flash my e6653 again. Do i need to make a new backup and restore of my DRM Key or is it already done by making this earlier ?
Thanks guys
Im sure you dont need to make a new backup.
So can i direct Flash a custom Rom and rooted Kernel or Do i need to repack and root my Stock Kernel First?

First backup is OK. You can use this TA.img anytime.
No need to do this again. You are already BL Unlocked.
