Downgrade 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 G925F - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I updated my Edge to 6.0.1 a few days ago and I found myself extremely stuggling to get twrp and xPosed on my device since then.
Now I'm wondering if all i need to do to downgrade back to 5.1.1 is to flash AP via Odin or if i need to flash everything else (BT, CSC..)?
Please help

Just flash a fw via odin like you would normaly do. Just perform a factory reset after it.

Just flash a stock firmware via Odin if you are rooted or not, and you don't either need to perform a factory reset as flashing a stock firmware with Odin will wipe all data, system and so one as far as I know

You'd better remember, or try to recover your samsung account, because if reactivation lock is on, you won't be able to flash without having to enter your samsung account credentials

what can i do if odin fails?

You could get better help if you would have included your country and the firmware or build number that your current using.
With that said.... goto samfirmware and download the latest firmware for your device. Then use odin to flash the firmware, you should then have latest update and you can then root again.
There are other methodes but I think this is the least complicated.

my note details is added
I know your method and used it a lot via mobile odin, but I used to keep the
root from options, and iam not sure if the new firmware will wipe my note or not if I flash it via odin pc
I read that flashing the stock recovery will unroot it.
I read that flashing the stock recovery will unroot it.
Flashing stock rom removes root .
But latest updates are more likely on XDA or sammobile before Kies or OTA .

I see your updated info except for country that you live in. You may have the newest for your country.
Yes, flashing a new firmware with PC Odin will remove root,.
I have not done it in a while but from what I remember all data remains in tack, just don't do a factory reset.
I do believe that there is a way to install a factory firmware in mobile Odin and keep root but I have never done that method.

unrooting will open OTA update to update the device with 70-80 mb rather than downloading 1 gb

You don't need to be rooted. And I don't think knox will be tripped since you aren't flashing anything that's been modified, only flashing unsigned/modified images via Odin trips knox. But since you are flazing a signed modem you should be fine.

Hi,
Thanks for the guide. Very helpfull. I have a few Noob questions...
1. Do I have to do a full wipe/ cleam install after updating modem, or will the OS remain intact?
2. Where can I find the latest modem for N9005?
3. Is the latest modem always the best, or should I only update if I'm currently experiencing problems with the 'old' modem
Thanks...

1. No need. Just follow the guide, nothing more..
2. Check the modem thread that's in the general section, if you can't find it there then you may have to pull it from the stock FW. Also some roms devs have the modem in their OTA/OP so may wanna check there as well.
3. New isn't always better. Update if you have issues, if something isn't broken then there is no need to fix it.

with the current modem/firmware/bootloader (I don't know what gives me the issue) I cannot use LTE while I have an SM-N9005 and friend of mine with unrooted Note 3 (bought in a shop in our country) has LTE 4g, while I have an Italian CSC.
If I use a modem from an other rom, will I have LTE as well and still have my Knox intact?
Thanks a lot guys
Your threat was a live saver man. For a sec I thought I lost my phone. Flashed modems b 4 but thanks to u I got reminded to use the new Odin(stupid me used the old one).

and this link for latest modems - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/ref-galaxy-note-3-sm-n9005-gsm-modems-t2842806

Are you Flashing the Full Firmware to update the bootloader?
Are you Flashing the Correct Firmware for your Carrier and Device?
Your Device is in Download Mode?
USB Debugging is enabled?
You Have the Samsung Drivers installed on your pc?
If the answers to the above is Yes - Try a different USB cable and Port on your pc

Can't update my Verizon Note pro to lollipop

So, I have the p905v and I rooted it with towelroot, and it was completely fine. I then tried putting twrp recovery on it through flashify the wrong way and now I don't have a recovery mode. I can't update my tablet or factory reset it and I'm not too ambitious to flash the update into the device, is there a way to fix the recovery mode?
Grab the stock firmware from the link below and flash via ODIN from your PC. Make sure you download the right version.

OK, thanks! Another quick question, what if it goes through a bootloop and I need to factory reset it? Would flashing it restore recovery? And, you mean flash lollipop 5.1.1, right?

If I unroot back to stock COJ5, will my phone start recieving updates again normally?

If I return to stock firmware COJ5, will my phone be able to receive Rom updates again?

Yes, if you do a full wipe and factory reset then odin flash stock firmware and do nothing else (no rooting, no custom recovery).
Good luck!

The only two things you loose after unrooting and odin flashing stock firmware
is that you cannot use samsung pay or android pay but that's because rooting
will change your knox status to 0/1 instead of 0/0.
But as far as samsung ota updates go all you need is a clean fresh successful
odin flash of stock official firmware.
Good luck!

How are you trying to flash the firmware? Which app are you using? You didn't root the phone did you?
Try this but use your own firmware!

Unfortunately you can't do that if you've rooted the phone and used Marshmallow then the DM Verity will fail either way and so will Odin.. You have to get a rom and then boot into twrp recovery and flash the rom that way! If you cannot get into twrp then reflash it using Odin and try again.. Once you root the phone it trips the Knox Counter and it prevents you from doing what you're trying to do.. twrp is the only solution at this point.

You can flash pretty much any rom you want really but for now I would look around on the Sprint forums and see what some of the devs have already built that way your network and everything works the right way.
