Mu phone stuck on bootloop/very long booting - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I got my moto g for over 1 year, i bought it in UK. I use custom rom's for 6 months.
My phone start work slow so i decided to wipe all and reinstall rom. By mistake i wipe internal storage too, so i try to put rom in storage, but my computer dont see my device. I fix it by reinstall motorola drivers and update TWRP. Then I put BlissPop Rom+GApps(which work earlier), and i flash it. There i have new problem because blisspop run and stuck on booting OS(i waited over 1 hour). I thought the rom was bad so i download the lastest BlissPop Rom. It going the same way. Then I decided to return to stock rom(I did not do this ever). I download "AIO_XT1032_4.4.2-KXB20.9-1.10-1.9_CFC_1FF.xml" and try to flash it by using fastboot not mfastboot. Then it stuck on bootloader warning. So i wipe all and try to install Marshmallow rom+kernel+miniGApps. It stuck on bootloader warning too. Then i wipe all and try to instal ressurection remix Rom+GApps. This like BlissPop stuck on loadning OS. Then i change recovery to CM recovery and i try flash cm13, after wiping everything, this rom stuck on bootloader warning. What i have to do ? @edit when i say stuck on bootloader warning i mean it bootloop on this

Try install retail Lollipop with mflashboot. Should get phone to Stock condition.

ok i got retail system but there is another problem, my wifi and phone doesnt find sim card

So you managed to install stock rom? Are you sure it was for your exact phone model? And you mean your phone don't recognise your sim-card at all (doesn't ask for pin code) or it just doesn't get signal?

yeah i install stock rom for xt1032 by philztouch. Phone dont even ask for pin and i can't turn on the wifi that like it was blocked

I do it. i install 5.0.1 retail downgrade it to 4.4.4 then wifi and sim start working then i flash stock 4.4.4 and uprage it by motorola update service to 5.1, then i install custom rom and everthing work good

Glad you got it to work!

[Q] Cant Install any custom ROMs

Ok, this is weird, a while ago i didnt had any problems installing any kind of custom rom, used CWM while wiping everything... eveything was OK, ROM worked OK, etc... But one time i installed a ROM (Slimkat) and i lost signal, tried to use my recovery of stock android but it didnt work, so i tried a lot of things untill i got bootlop without being able to install anything since some files were missing, bad luck
After that, i just reflash stock 4.3 and upgrade from there 4.4.2, everything fine again... except that i cant install any kind of ROM, every ROM says "installation succesful" but everyone is stuck into bootloop.
While i havent tried ALL ROMS i have tried the same ones i was using (Nexus G+, LiquidSmooth and CM11), so i guess this problem is coming from my device.
On a side note, i tried to factory reset, but no luck... it shows the Android working but it inmediately turns the screen off, and then it shows it again and then off again... in an infinite loop
Same problem!
Bump.
I just got my Moto G yesterday (European XT1032), updated to 4.4.2, unlocked bootloader, rooted with superboot and flashed Philz Touch CWM.
Seems I have done everything by the book, wipes included, but no luck. I tried Slimkat, Paranoid and Codename Lungo (latest builds as of 3/12).

Hmmm... Pay attention to which version of Bootloader you are using.
You might want to try both 4.3 and 4.4 to see which one would work.
Extract the motoboot.img from the stock .zip image for your phone, then flash with mflashboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
Good luck!

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Is there a way to check bootloader version on the phone? If that doesn't work out I'll start from scratch and report back in this thread..

Hmmm.. I see there is a version number on mine, 41.05 dated 2013-12-06, but I'm not sure if that's the version or not.
And yeah... if changing the bootloader doesn't help, you probably would have to restore from the stock image and start over..
Got root and custom roms working after I 1.) downgraded to 4.3 and 2.) flash TWRP (instead of CWM).
So I'm not sure what the problem was. Besides the two main rooting methods (superboot and custom recovery), there are some other methods described on the forum specifically for people who already did a international variant OTA to 4.4.2. and one that is absolete (here) but apparently works for some when the two main methods fail.
However I'm still not sure if this solved everything. I am not sure if I can flash Cyanogenmod (which is 4.4.2) over a 4.3 firmware. Maybe I need to manually flash a 4.4.2 radio or something... Gonna check that out next...
EDIT: No need to downgrade. Not sure how it works but two main root methods (superboot and custom recovery) didn't work for me. Somehow I got stuck in boot animation. Just installed TWRP instead of CWM after Kitkat firmware (EU Retail) and rooted (/installed Super Su) from there. Everything works fine now.

[Q] I bricked my moto g xt1033 please help!

Hello,
I have bricked my Moto G XT1033 after i wiped out all data and system files.
I had saved a recovery image and after wiping out i can't see it anymore.
since i'm a noob in this can someone help me out ?
Thanks
If you wiped system, you have no OS, so your phone can't boot up.
Since Moto G has no external memory and you wiped data, all of your stuff including your backup was gone.
You need to reflash firmware.
Take a look in Original Development threads.

[Q] I need help with an OTA update on my rooted Moto G?

Okay so basically, today I got the request of installing the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g. I press yes and that my phone shut off as it's meant to be. Then this is when the problem occurs; when it turns back on it goes to TWRP and it goes the the normal page of TWRP. I reboot my phone to try again and the same thing happens. Can someone help me to get rid of this problem and to install the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g? Will be much appreciated :good:
P.S: The Android update was from Google.
Installing an OTA on a Rooted Phone with Custom Recovery is not advisable!
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I tried too and the installation stops and comes out an error with /system/framework/core.odex.
I tried to flash again stock recovery but it persists..

Same here. Had to flash stock recovery from bootloader (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and then reboot, and let the phone reboot and apply the system update.
All is good, and it kept root... No need to have the system breaking TWRP on there.
I get an error while updating, it just says ''error''. I have stock kernel, stock recovery, unrooted... Nothing seems to work, but I think the problem might be that I have a custom boot animation. Is there any way to flash the 4.4.2 stock UK rom?
Use the search guys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-update-rooted-moto-g-to-4-4-4-t2823106

Do you have a moto g ? I did a factory reset which meant that the update wouldn''t keep shutting down my phone and then it would go to TWRP. So how do I install the 4.4.4 update?

Easiest way to reinstall stock rom

Hi all as title states my moto g is downloading the new 5.0 update but during install it says error and switches phone back on with no changes made. It was rooted and custom firmware was installed. Since then uts back to fully unrooted, stock recovery is reinstalled and bootloader is still unlocked. However still it errors a quarter into installing.
So i have come to the assumption that it is best for me to revert/ reinstall the stock 4.4.4 rom back on and try updating after that. However seen loads of complicated methods on how to reinstall the stock firmware onto my phone so want the easiest way if possible.
In attatchments is the info from the current stock rom that is on the phone (will state a custom rom has never been installed to the phone always been stock) and i have downloaded the following to put onto it:
XT1032_RETAIL-GB_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.40_36_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml.zip
Ive tried using the mototools v3.1 and does abserlitly nothing non of the commants work or do anything with my phone.
So which is the easiest method?
Many Thanks
major problems!!!!!
Stock recovery installed to phone. Started update it was installing and got to 3/4 of the way through, errored, restarted and not goes in a loop saying no command!
Phone will not switch on!!!
Why has this happened?
If fastboot is too convoluted - using a custom recovery, flash one of these zips:

What update were you installing when it errored?

TWRP: Pre-ROM flash Wipe, boots back into system instead (Moto G 4G LTE)

Hi guys,
Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I've only got a Moto G 4G fairly recently (my Nexus 5 died) and have been attempting ROM flashing (never had an issue with multiple Nexus phones & tablets) I was flashing the rom OK but the sim card wasn't recognised - so went back to rooted stock Kitkat & Xposed.
Today I thought I'd give it another go, got into TWRP, advanced wipe as usual...but it didn't complete and the phone suddenly booted back into the system (with the Android upgrading/optimizing message you usually get when starting a new phone)
System is untouched, still rooted/xposed etc. Does anyone have an idea why this has suddenly happened? Never encountered anything like this before. TWRP is the latest version 3.1.1.0
Any suggestions welcome, cheers.
Just thinking....would flashing with adb be a solution?
Just flash lollipop stock ROM using mfastboot
later you can flash twrp recovery and then proceed with the nougat or oreo based ROM.. Bootloader should be updated so my suggestion is flash lollipop stock ROM
