[HELP] Having problem with the notification on Candy5 Rom Official/Unofficial - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, can anyone help me how to get the notifications popping/showing at the notification drawer?i can't get any notification or even getting the head up's notification. This is annoying because any of the messages and chats i received, i have to open the app to read it. Even the missed calls and low battery warning doesn't pop up.:crying:
p/s sorry for my english.
Using Tab 2 GT-P3100 Candy5 Rom v4.1 Unofficial

have you checked under settings-candy interface?
there is options for notification, check if its not disabled.
Have you deleted any system apps? maybe wappush or wisperpush?

For the setting i have been like enabling, disabling and changed it,but still nothing happens.
For the system app,I did try deleting the whisper push apk,but still nothing happen. Still not getting any notifications. Only whisperpush app have been removed from the system.
(Already tried wiping cache, dalvic etc. Results is still the same)

there must be some changes on your side. take a full nandroid backup in your custom recovery, then, wipe data as well, and do a clean flash and check if it's working there, maybe you did a dirty flash that causing issues. or just flash the same custom rom once again without wiping anything if you have deleted something from the system app that was needed for the notifications to work.

Very strange text message issue

When someone sends me a message they get this message automatically "Command not supported* Battery remaining 95%"
The battery % changes whatever my battery status is. It also shows in my list that I actually sent the message. Anyone have a clue what is going on here?
You've been around for a while, so hau about some more information such as:
When did it start?
Recent changes to the phone (before and after this started happening)? Specifically ROMs and applications.
Anything you've already tried to fix this?

Well, if any of the information was needed I would have said it. There have been no recent changes, this started today (hence the post). ROM is listed. This happens rather I use stock messaging or another. No fix has been done since I don't know how to fix and have never seen this issue (hence the post). If you can help great, if not that is fine too.

Have you started simple - pulling the battery?
Also - any battery status apps installed? https://market.android.com/details?id=net.mobilemonkeys.Battery looks like some have the ability to automatically respond to a text with a battery level - one might be going rogue?? (SMS Commander is another that can do this)

No battery apps. Tried pulling battery, nothing.
If this just started today, there had to be something that triggered it. Have you considered flashing your backup (assuming you have one) to see if it goes away?

That's about where I'm at.
Seems like an app issue, rather than a carrier/rom/w/e issue.
And given it's obscurity, one is going to have to clean wipe down to base ROM without any installed apps/widgets and see if the issue persists.
If it doesn't, then reloading Apps-Data and see if it persists...
If it does persist before reloading apps-data, then they would have eliminated some unfathomable number of variables...

If something triggered it, I have no clue what did. Last night, I charged my phone, woke up for work, the wife sent me a text and that is when it happened. I have a back up yea, which I might have to do.
Did you ever fix this or figure out what it was? My GS3 has started doing this. No ROM, rooted and unlocked. Only SMS app I have installed would be Mighty Text.

That is weird!
Here's what I would do...
1. Check for any apps that updated through the Google Play Store overnight
a. If any updated, uninstall and see if that fixed your issue.
b. if none updated, continue to step 2
2. Reboot into CWM Recovery and wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions from CWM
3. Test your device
a. if problem is fixed stop here
b. if problem persists continue to step 4
4. Verify that you do have a nandroid backup of your phone
a. to do this, open file explorer and navigate to the you CWM folder on your SD card and verify a nandroid backup has been made
b. if one is not made, reboot into recovery and do this now!!!
5. Go to settings and reset your device.
6. When phone boots back up, test SMS
a. if issue persists, download CM 7.2 and re flash your rom and go to step 7
b. if issue is fixed, continue to step 7
7. If the issue is fixed, you know its a setting or app on your phone causing the problem.
8. If you have a previous nandroid backup, which you stated you did, flash the nandroid through CWM
9. Test SMS
a. if issue is fixed GREAT
b. if issue is not fixed, wipe your phone and install your apps back one by one from the google play store
Previously when I would flash a CM ROM I would dirty flash it so I didn't have to reinstall my apps back to my phone. If you are flashing nightlies of CM 7.2, I would do a regular flash to wipe the device completely.
On a side note, an Unofficial version of CM10 is available for the Inspire 4G... It will be picked up by the CM Dev team in about a month. That means we will have some Jelly Bean love official from CM.
Cheers!!!

Issues with performance and connection

Hi guys,
since a few weeks I have problems with the performance of my HTC One XL running, Venom XL 3.2.8. The CPU load is often on 100%, for both cores, only after a restart, it works better.
Another problem is the pulldown shortcut bar, sometimes I can see it, sometimes it is disappeared and I have no idea how to get it back, after some time I can see it again. I have not changed anything in the settings.
I also have problems with the connection with mobile internet, errors and connection breakups.
Has anyone else also these problems or has an idea how to solve it? I am very satisfied with this ROM, very good work, but only these problems are going on my nerves^^
Thanks for your help.

download and flash 2.6
then
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot bootloader
select recovery from bootloader
in TWRP, select wipe, then advanced
Select everything except SDcard
If you haven't checked the md5 prior to flashing, make sure to check the MD5 of your rom with an md5checker on your PC
Copy the rom over and reflash.
Should work fine after.

If i will do this: how about all the apps and settings? is it like wipe? Because I don't want to install and setup everything new. Sorry about the stupid question^^
You can backup apps but not system apps or system settings.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Well yeah the reason he's asking you to download a different recovery is so you can do a full wipe and start fresh. You'll need to full wipe and flash your ROM again.
Because TWRP 2.5 has issues with wiping and flashing, that's probably why you're experiencing the problems you have now.
Just use Titanium Backup to backup your apps.

No Phone App?

I just recently flashed 4.4 custom CM 11 ROM with a clean install, followed the instructions by updating the firmware, then flashing the ROM and GAPPS, then setting up the phone, then returning to recovery to flash the Kanged apps. There is no Phone app, though when I say "Ok, Google" and tell it to call a contact, it works, and asks what app to use by default (Phone, Skype). When the call began, no app opened, it was my home screen, though the call went through.
Is this a problem with the Kanged apps or what's up?
Edit: I just wiped cache and dalvik cache, re-flashed the PA Gapps [not the Kanged] and still no phone app. Can someone link me to the GApps they used that worked well? Maybe its just a faulty DL.

Click ROM Downloads, Using the 12/25/2013 (uploaded the 26th) one, as it was said to be the most stable. If you know of a more stable release (I'm looking for working bluetooth and gps, messages and phone) let me know. I'll edit this after checking the system folder.
Edit: Under system/app/ there is a "TelephonyProvider.apk" that has the same picture the Phone App would have. Trying to open it prompts me with installing an update, titled "Phone/Messaging Storage". Attempting to install it gives no results, and just says it wasn't installed.

Ok, downloading the stuff now. While it downloads, where is the option to wipe system in CWM Touch? Its probably in a pretty obvious place and I just overlooked it, I haven't clean flashed a rom since my second one, the rest were just updates to CM. I'll post back when the process is done. Thanks for all the help so far!

Yeah, it had been stuck and I actually failed to wipe system the first time. Did it this time around, and its booted up, with a phone app! The question I have for you now: Is flashing the "Kanged" apps worth it? What does it add? What does it break? I've seen some posts claiming it breaks things, I've seen others saying it works fine. What's your experience with it? Other than that, thanks a ton! Can't wait to get this buddy settled in!

The Kanged gapp is fine, but the newer version, for some reasons it's not working well with some of the app. The one I gave you is pretty much ok with most of the rom. At the end they should be all the same function and the question is which one will work with most of the rom. There is no advantage from one to the others.

Yeah haha, that tends to be how CM is. Its been like that since my OG Droid days haha.
Quick question; do you know how to change what the icons on the lock screen redirect too? For example, making the music icon open Google Play Music, not Apollo, or the messages icon opening Hangouts, not Messages.

OK, I'm not on the rom that you're using, but if I remember correctly, it should be in settings->security-> slider targets and shortcuts -> enable the Eight slider targets then tab on slider targets, you will see the lock on your screen, hold down on the lock and slide to any position on the circle, an app menu should popup, here you can select what app you want to launch for the position. Repeat the same for other positions. You have up to 7 apps to launch from the lock screen, the last one is to unlock.

[Q] Horrible Instagram problems, help please?

I'm running CM11, Android version 4.4.4, but have had this problem since installing Cyanogenmod.
Main issues are these:
1) Freezes while processing 50% of the time. Mostly the filter-processed image is already saved in the gallery, and I can see it there after I kill the app
2) Video upload always failed.
3) Whenever I switch apps, Instagram "unfortunately stops". This issue is common with the Camera app as well.
Funnily enough, I had similar problems with Instagram on my previous phone, although it was an HTC.
But I haven't seen any such problems reported on my ROM's development thread.
Can someone at least point in the direction of what could be the issue and where to start troubleshooting?

There is no more "fix permission" option in newer CWM, apparently because it's not necessary anymore. Wiping the cache helps the crashing issue for a while, but videos still can't be uploaded.
Did u wipe data/cashe/dalvik before u flashed cm? If not, that can be problem. And did u come from Stock or other custom rom?
Hello.
Same problem on 3 roms that i tested today
I test pac cm11(current rom) and axxion and all has the same instagram problem , even on dalvnik/art.
I tried uninstall app,clear data,even from data/data.
Dunno what else to do.

Apps seem to be reset after cyanogenmod 13 update

I flashed cyanogenmod 13 and gapps for marshmallow (from 6.12.2015) and it boots fine. All apps are installed, as before the update.
BUT
When I start any of these apps they seem to be reset to default as if they are newly installed. For example Threema starts setup process after start.
App data is still present on internal storage (did not wipe), but apps do not seem to have access to any of this data.
Can anyone help what I can try to get the apps back to work with previous data?
Thankful for any help!

At first, try flashing CM13 after a full wipe or try using another rom since CM13 could be buggy.

Thanks for the reply! But well, the phone is working, just the apps are behaving as if they are newly installed ... So a full wipe would not really help as is only deletes more data. The question is why do the apps "think" they are not already set up?

Full ACK, but data is still available on the internal storage, but the apps do not notice this?
AND this one here (not allowed ot post links... so a missing w at the beginning ww.cyanogenmod.org/blog/a-marshmallowy-cm) says dirty flash from 12.1 to 13 is okay and if the cyanogenmod updater shows cm13 as availabe for update ...
EDIT: Maybe this was a missing info, but it was "just" a normal update via cyanogenmod updater, not a real flash of a new rom!

What do you want me to say? It's always better to full wipe when upgrading to a new Android version. Period.
Moreover, CM13 nightlies are buggy. There are important bugs and fixes everyday. Make a nandroid backup and try from scratch or try another nightly or another custom rom. There's nothing else to say IMO.

Just thought it could be possibly just a permission problem, a missing symlink or anything else that could be fixed manually.
