Broken black coaxial antenna motherboard connector.. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Was replacing screen on my nexus 5 and when I removed the black coaxial antenna cable from the motherboard, the wee soldered attachment came away from the motherboard, attached to the end of the cable
The attachment is broken. So now I have the intact cable end and the motherboard with no place to reattach coaxial cable onto..
Can solder straight onto the motherboard?
Help!
Thanks
Gav

You can try resoldering the part to the motherboard but I'm not sure how good the connection will be afterwards.

I have the same problem! When I tried to remove the back cover, I accidentally broke the coaxial connector.
I have learned that the white (left) cable is the 4G antenna, and the black is the 3G antenna, I was thinking about switching the white over the black one, because a don't really use 4G network anyway...
Can someone with the Knowledge tell me it's ok to do so? Otherwise i'll have to buy the pair of antennas.
Thanks,
What did you do to fix it Banterbanter?
--- UPDATE ---
I said what the hell, let's do it... I removed the black cable, and installed the white one, it's for the 4G frequencies so the cable is slightly long, but i folded it a little bit, and closed everything, and BAM it works!!!

Hi! Same thing happened to me. The little board connector (seen in the picture) where the antenna cable connects to has snapped. Some call it "antenna connection point".

Does anyone know how to properly fix this? Do these connectors exists as spare parts? Can they be soldered? Thanks for your help!

Thank you. Temporary fix till I get new replacement antennas.

perhaps you can get it at http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_kw=FEMALE&_kw=htc&_ipg=100
Perfect, Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was searaching on ebay, how comes i didnt see!
hi dude,
i have this problem for my old artemis, however some things you should know...
firstly, you might find it hard to get the old female extusb off the motherboard, it has a higher grade solder so it has a higher melting point etc and wont come off with a normal soldering iron.
secondly, if you do manage to get it off, the actual pins that conect to the motherboard may be tricky to solder back on, 1 because of the grade of solder, i dont think normal solder will stick ... and 2 because the pins are so tiny.
but, lastly, i actually have one that i do not need, in perfect condition and still in the packaging!
if you have not bought one already, i will be willing to give you it, for free of course!
(because thats how i roll)
if your interested then you will need to contact me via PM dude

Miniature USB host adapter

The USB connection kit is nice, but rather annoying as it makes everything stick out like crazy. Not exactly the best if you want to watch a movie while holding the tab or something like that. I bought a cheap third part USB host adapter for the P1000 - one with a female USB connector on the end of a short cable - and glued it all together to one lump. I then paired it with a tiny microSDHC reader. The result is a much more compact external storage solution that does the job of allowing me to transfer files to a USB drive instead of the tablet itself while not making the tablet annoying to hold afterwards. This is just the first prototype though, I've ordered more or these things and an planning on taking them apart to see if I can eliminate some wires and plastic to make it even smaller. Don't want to risk breaking this one while I wait for those though, so "boring mode DIY" so far.

Looks good! Have to look into this myself. Thanks.
Got four more such adapters today (they're $2.90 shipped worldwide so can't exactly complain about the price - btw, they're not originally for the P1000 as stated in the first post, but rather the 10.1).
Tore one down to see what I was dealing with below the casing and it's a pretty straight forward set of internal components that aren't glued to the casing or anything like that. The next step (i.e. the next adapter I make) will be to re-solder the wires shorter, right now I just let the cable stick out one side. The difference in thickness when getting rid of the housing is pretty nice.

[Q] EAR speaker broken[no sound]

oke,so my ear speaker has no sound while calling.
and i dont know if there is any other way of testing it.(all music ect ect go's trugh back speaker)
so im geusing its broken.
so my question is. where can i get a new one?(speaker part)
or is there a way to test it to see if it stil works.
You sure it's not in silent mode? Sorry, but it has to be asked.
It could be a lose connection or just went bad. I had same problem but with rear speaker id just hit it on the palm of my hand a few times and would start working
eventually stopped working all together so i took apart cleaned connections and reseated to the mainboard but no go so i sent back to Samsung
You can try to order the part but you will have to desolder the speaker off the cable becasue the earpiece and rear speaker are two separate parts for some reason
so when you order the new piece it wont come with the rear speaker so you will have to solder that back on...this is why i sent to Samsung didn't want to deal with soldering plus phone was under warranty so
this is the whole assembly (impossible to find online to purchase)

this is what you want
this is the rear speaker you have to desolder off and onto new cable
if under warranty and if definitely defective i would send back if under warrenty

[Q] QI Wireless Charging MOD/Case for Note 10.1

Hello,
is there a possibility for wireless charging for the Note 10.1 out there?
Anybody who put a coil in it?
Or any external solutions?
I could not find anything about it

I have an idea how you could do it with this very thin $17 kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/Free-Shipping-Wireless-Charge-Power-Module-Board-Charger-Kits-For-DIY-/251314383690?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item3a83812b4a

and this $11 back case cover. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEAD-CASE-BLACK-X-HARD-CASE-BACK-CASE-COVER-FOR-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-NOTE-10-1-N8000-/190851314616?pt=US_Tablet_eReader_Cases_Covers_Keyboard_Folios&hash=item2c6f9ff3b8
If you sanded off the tabs on this hard cover that hold the Note 10.1 the Note would then just lay in the hard shell and you could get perfect coil alignment without using magnets.
So..... with some odds and ends you most likely already have (tape, soldering iron, hot melt glue, an old usb cable) you could do this for under $30 bucks.
The only 3 issue's I see is will the Note 10.1 charge with only 600 ma of power (not likely), is there enough room to fit the coil under the back cover (good chance) and were do you connect the 5 volt power lead inside the case??????
Here is a disassembly video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUyI74c0DhE that may help if anyone decides to tackle this project because I'm not ready to risking my $400 dollar investment, maybe if I find one with a cracked screen on ebay for cheap I might try it.

Wifi antenna location

Hi,
My wifi seems a bit slow and I wanted to check the antenna connection. I've opened the back of the tablet and looked under all parts but can't seem to find the antenna. Can any tell me where it is?
Here's a picture of the tablets, can anyone point out where the antenna is?
(can't post pictures )
oi65.tinypic.com/2gtneyf.jpg
You are absolutely sure that opening the back of the tablet and after wasting the warranty you'll mess with the wifi antenna it'll magically boost your speed? Well if you're sure then you will find wifi antenna under that little silver plate beside the silver camera plate (probably need soldering open at your own risk!!!) By the way I think there are other ways to improve wifi speed. I believe your problem can be fixed if you describe it more properly...you said wifi is slow you could get a better router or place it at a better spot but are you sure that wifi is only slow on the note pro not on any other device? (Use internet speed test to be sure) Thanks for reading.Glad to help!

The antenna is at the top of the left speaker but when the rear case was removed and the LCD is facing down, left speaker is on the right.
The white metal part is antenna, it's on the right side of this picture

Below is the 4 points of contact to mainboard
But I don't think you can do anything with the antenna to improve Wifi signals
