Hi - I'm running KangVip B111 ROM on a GEM-703L rooted and TWRP as recovery.
Would like to know if there is a native or external way to add/remove tiles from the Shortcuts section (Status bar > right drop > Shortcuts) as I do not require that many. I have alternatives with the ROM itself (gestures) that replace these tiles. For example: open Flashlight by holding home button on any screen.
I've looked everywhere in settings and couldn't find a thing. Also looked for related posts here on XDA, but nothing so thought asking the experts directly might help in my research.
Your assistance is very much appreciated.

Try going into /cust and into dualcu/cn/xml and find the default_order.xml file and remove the items you don't want from there then reboot. Let me know if they are gone from the shortcuts section. if not, edit the default_order.zml file in all cust folders wherever you see it, then reboot.
Man, you're like a mediapad/dev expert. I'll try this and the dpi suggestion you gave me tomorrow morning and will let you know. Thanks for the ideas (and the ROM)

Deleting the flashlight node from default_order.xml from folder /cust/dualcu/cn/xml/ totally worked! after rebooting i don't see it anymore AND now I see an 'Edit' button that allows me to re-arrange or delete tiles. That's why I was going crazy!!! thank you so much for the help!
Edit: not delete but re-arrange only. Still, deleting is already covered I'm a happy camper

The edit button should have always been there. It's usually at the bottom.

It wasn't. I initially noticed that the only bottom row icon was a little chopped from the bottom by the brightness control bar (when i had all the tiles), so my guess is that the edit button was totally covered by the bar and when i removed the unnecessary shortcuts it made it visible as this button is between the tiles and the brightness adjustment bar.

I REALLY hate the placement of the SIP changer when the soft keyboard is up. There are so many times when I am typing that I accidently hit that tiny little *&^%$% triangle, and it slows whatever I'm doing down until the damn chooser opens.
I'm looking for a way to either eliminate it, and possibly put the chooser it's self under the settings menu.
Start > Settings > System > SIP changer.
Or is there a way to just hide the bottom bar all together while typing? I know this is possible, because the bottom bar is hidden while using Pocket CM.
Anybody... PLEASE help. I have looked at several apps (can't remember what they were called anymore) but none of them did what I am asking. Does ANYBODY know of a good solution, or ... ya know... is anybody willing to put one together?
Hi
FingerKeyboard hides the bottom bar all together http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501434&highlight=fingerkeyb
Good luck
You are free to ask this question, but not in Dev & Hack. Moving to General Q&A.
Thank you for your understanding.

Every time I search it brings me to things I'm not looking for. Which is why I initially posted this in D & H to begin with... I was hoping for a quick solution.
I have category folders in my start menu such as games, video, audio, travel etc...
How can i add these folder shortcuts and icons to the quick link shortcuts on the manila homepage? Registry tweaks are needed I am sure.
I would love to flip up the quickl links to get access to all my categories.
Thanks!

I've been looking for exactly the same - Hopefully has been mentioned in other threads but haven't found out how yet. Any help finding a solution would be welcome. Want to use the games icon in the Glass Balls set as one to save using several icons in the quick links
if you create a short cut to the folder then it appears!!!
File explorer - Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games
edit > copy
go back to start menu and past as shortcut...
Then it is slectable from the Manila Home screen

Thanks - I've already done that but get an error saying The file 'Games' connot be opened..... not trusted or one of the components cannot be found.....
I've done a softreset etc amd still won't work - Can see the icon fine on the quick link button but just won't work.
mmm maybe not... nearly there..
I am able to add it as a program from the home screen quick links.. but then it says "games" cannot be opened, components cannot be found blah blah blah
hehehe sorry i shouldn't have been so cocky!!!...
just found a possible answer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576232
will try it out
it looks like you go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\ (then the no. of the slot you want to put it in)
doing the Registry edit way.. the instructions refer to the TP2..
mmm have tried a no. of things... to no avail...
unless there is a way to refer to the start menu view as an application then specify the path to display...
i may be talking rubbish but hey, thinking aloud
Nutmegy.......yeah, that's worked for me, used that cab from the post you linked and now have a working quick link to games folder. Thanks.
Anyone know of a good transparent background games icon?
just found a possible answer.... won't let me quote the thread here so see above

Excellent - Worked for me too - I then just edited the icon to one I wanted.
Thanks for the pointer - Expect it may be useful for others as couldn't find folders referenced in other quick link threads on the HD2 pages.... I just needed to widen my searches a little more!
cool glad it worked! I actually struggled to get it working! will try again tonight
I use the jaguaralani glass balls icon set
I just posted an answer here:

sorry for not linking, I haven't posted enough to do that yet...
YMMV, but it worked for me!
Start Menu shortcut
I found the solution in this site - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527352
You must use tool "VJKeyPress" :
1. Download "VJKeyPress" (here).
2. Install "VJKeyPress".
3. Create the shortcut of VJKeyPress.exe (you may find it in \Program Files\vijay555\VJKeyPress\) to any folder in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\" (for example in my case to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools\).
4. Edit shortcut "VJKeyPress.lnk" (for example by Total Commander) by this way "\Program Files\vijay555\VJKeyPress\VJKeyPress.exe" 91 ("91" is Start Menu).
5. Choose the shortcut to quick link on your Home Tab.
6. Enjoy your shortcut of WM6.5 Start Menu !!!
Thanks to Revin and Vijay555!!!
It works on my Leo!!!
Some screenshots:
I was using a theme on CM 5.0.4.1 and it allowed me to place shortcuts on the home screen in the lower left and lower right of the screen.
The shortcuts would appear in the location where the dots for navigating instead of swiping appear normally.
I wish I could add more detail, but that's all I remember. This feature was very convenient for me.
TIA for any help provided.
apologies if this is in the wrong forum

This what you looking for?
Also...
nexTheme has Dialer and Browser at the bottom.
Ideally I'd like to be able to choose what fills the 2 slots, but I'm good with the updated launcher of nexTheme
McFroger3 - Not exactly, but that would definitely work.
JJackson9995 - I think that's the one. And I think I was able to long press on the dialer and launcher and replace them, or maybe I just filled the spots they were occupying on the bottom row with other shortcuts that I needed.
Either way, both of you have provided assistance that is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

Sounds more like a home replacement? Home++ or something maybe? Don't think it was a launcher mod as I've yet to see one where you can customize the buttons down there without modifying code.
Hi!
How can I change the hexagonal icons layout in the Start and Settings menu ("Honeycomb") back to the square layout? The hexagonal makes me feel dizzy.
Thanks
It's nearly impossible to do that, since the code for the hexagon layout is hidden deeply.
There are a lot of .cabs for that kicking around. What kind of phone.

I spent about an hour searching via Google
Phone - Xperia X2.
It is enough to just point me to the right registry value, if there is any.

Yes, the Start Menu and Setting menu. Sorry for not being clear
OK, no problem. Well I'm surprised that Denko is saying that there are a lot of cabs for that, because as far as I know, it is not possible.
Will await his reply then.
OK, I'v found something. A small configurable application called XTask, download link here.
Btw, if you don't know where to start, just click on the taskbar and drag the line down. The XTask Settings allow you to configure its internal menu and also replace the Start Menu entirely with its own diagonal icon layout.
Alternatively in its settings set it so its file manager starts when clicking the Start Menu icon and browse to Windows\Start Menu\Programs directory. It is normally alphabetically sorted and you can arrange shortcuts to various subfolders. It can be even more easily done with Total Commander or from PC.
And for phone settings click on Control. It arranges icons by same strange order, probably like the original Start Menu, but maybe I'll find how to change that.
I apologize for my noobness, but I've browsed the forum with no answer nor cab, so I turn to you guys in hope of helping me out, I just want the thing gone, takes up to much room and I really don't need it...
Thanks
Search for "Cookiemonsters Home Tab". One of the benefits of this great mod is the function you are asking for: You can actually completely remove the clock from the home tab.
A simple solution would be to just swipe the clock away, this leaves just a basic digital clock.
Another solution is to install "antonio no clock".

The easiest way I know of to remove things from the homescreen is by Cookies Home Tabs and CHTEditor. If you use those, pressing Menu at the bottom and selecting Edit Home Layout will allow you to remove whatever you wish by simply a press & hold.
