Secret menus - through Dial Codes? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note5

There used to be secret dial codes that would bring up many useful utility menus on Android phones. What are they for the Verizon Note 5 ?

If you download "phone info samsung" from the playstore it shows a list of secret codes in the menu. I never tried any out to see if they work. Also if you are in the vicinity of a Verizon store you can dial #8378 and it will pull up a menu with a battery of diagnostic tests.

Not sure what you meant by that addition to your post, but I'll try both - thanks

I checked and there is an app from vndnguyen for Samsung phones (called Phone Info). Is that the one you mean? It does not have that dial code information in the menu...

According to the developer and this post you need root to enable the menu.

I've tried a lot of codes, and none have worked. So, sorry, but I can't help you.
Verizon tinkers with code access. Some codes that work fine on other variants do not work on the Verizon one...

Yes, that's the one I'm talking about. The menu opens up for me. Don't know what you guys are talking about. Maybe you need to have root for the codes to work. Like I said, I haven't tried any of them as I have never had any need.

Yes we discussed that you needed to have root and I don't and was wondering how to get them without root

It is annoying when people with other phone variants post on the Verizon boards, because miscommunication like this happens.
As the Verizon variant isn't rootable, posting solutions that require root isn't going to help anyone here.
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

Right? Super annoying. Anyway. OP, download "phone info" from the play store then open the menu and select secret codes. It will then crawl your phone for available codes. You don't have to have root in order to just view the list of codes, after it searches the list of codes will be displayed.
On a side note, there is a setting in the phone (hidden_menu) that basically either allows or denies access to service modes and settings from dialer codes and Verizon sets it to deny.
If we had root for the N920V we could use a file manager with root access and easily change the hidden_menu setting, after which all dialer codes and access to service modes would work again.

No. Unlocking your phone simply moves your phone's IMEI# from the carrier controlled database of accepted phones allowed on its network to an internationally recognized database of accepted phones that can access any carrier network if they have the right tech (ie SIM card, etc). The password you are given unshackles you from the carrier.

+1. First time I've seen this menu on a phone, any resources to help learn ANYTHING about any of the menus?
I'm obviously not looking for something comprehensive, but am interested to learn more.
Where's the "Unlock Bootloader" menu option?
This has always been an option on Samsung devices. At least since the Skyrocket.

That is 100% incorrect. The SIM lock on phones is software based and the software resides on the device. To test this get an unlock CODE from any unlock retailer.....even your cell company. This code needs to be entered into YOUR DEVICE to work and your celk phone company would not even know (unless you got the code from them). I know this because I have done this to phones and because a database for all phones would be huge.
Now the iPhone is similar to what you describe but it is an Apple based database and is used to SOFTWARE unlock the phone when you reset the device on iTunes (basically another way Apple can control your iPhone)
The sec ril dump has an option to disable fast dormancy and backup efs and nv. But those two require a password. Anybody have an idea of what it might be?

Thats cool. I just wanted to make sure there was no misinformation floating around lol.

network connection drops.. frequently

UK moto G 16gb. 3 mobile.
Network connection drops all the time. I mean, like every 30 seconds when using the phone. It seems to be because it is constantly flipping between 3g (2.5g slower, and HSDPA+ speed 3.5G).. I guess I'm in an area where HSDPA+ is barely possible. BUT, since the retarded 4.4.2 UI has been built for ****tards, in now only has the option of 2g or 3g. no more, manual vs Auto etc etc. This really annoys me.
Has anybody else had this problem? Can anyone let me know where the option to set data network selection manually vs auto is. and if there is any way I can improve the network selection.
My phone does exhibit the signal degredation when the back is covered, but I think this is universal amongst phones really.

It's not related to how I hold the phone, its in general. It is definitely to do with being in a low 3.5G area. When in a strong area it is fine.
The phone clearly flips between HSDPA+ and 2-3G. This is why its doing it. If I can force it to stay on 2 or 3G in the settings, rather than flipping when signal is weak it will solve my problem.
Im not rooted, but can easily. How will xposed help? I thought that was just to customise the UI like gravity box?
I think there is a rather simpler wrokaround

Quick research on the play store shows several people with S6/Edge phones complaining about hotword detection option missing.
And I just checked mine, its missing for me too.

Do you guys have the correct language set?
I do. My voice features disappeared as well
Have the same issue. 'Anywhere' hot word detection disappeared yesterday. I also think it must have been the update I ran. Uninstalling the Google now update had no effect though. Also tried setting the language to English US, no effect. Next thing I was going to try was factory reset, but sounds like this don't work either?
Installed Google launcher for the time being. Atleast I can use 'okay Google' from all my home screens until this is resolved.

Same thing happened with the Moto X.
There is a config flag that lists the 'blacklist' phone models. There used to be an app to force the Google app into debug/dogfood mode so that you could change it - but I haven't seen any way to do that w/ the newest versions. My guess is that Samsung chose to disable listen everywhere to try to force people into using s-voice.

Hidden "SVC Menu" & WiFi Calling? Could it be?

I have a NON-rooted AT&T V10 that recently got upgraded to marshmallow. I had a horrible experience (as I have before) with the OTA upgrade and ended up doing a factory reset, but now that that is done it is running very smoothly and the battery life has really been good. But that is not what I'm here for. Now that everything is running well I thought I'd try to see what options are available to me in this new version so I went online to see what "hidden" menus were available.
I found this one: *#546368#*900# (900 being the model of AT&T's V10) It brings up several tests you can run, but also a "SVC Menu". After going in the svc menu there is an option at the bottom called "VoWiFi" which I thought looks interesting. The value at stock for the item in the menu: "Wi-Fi Calling toggle" was "-1" (which doesn't make any sense to me). Since it's obvious that this should provide me "voice over Wifi" I decided to try it since the service in my 2 story house is pretty bad in the corner of the basement where my office is.
After setting the value to 1 I've made a few calls and found out that indeed this does seem to work! but only when I'm in my basement with limited service (1 bar). The Wifi icon adds a plus symbol to the icon and I've made several calls now and on the dialing screen on the "Red End" icon there is a wifi symbol right above it presumably meaning you are calling using VoWiFi?
I haven't seen the documented or talked about anywhere so i joined this forum asking you guys if you can both confirm for me that I have this correct, but also to share my find and hope it helps someone else. Also, should this work for SMS/MMS as I've seen mentioned for the VoWiFi standard??? In the texting I've done so far (also very bad service for texting) It may indicate that it does. Interested to know from you guy/gals what you think?
I'm very excited about this - Comments/Thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes I dial the code and toggle it off. Wait a few seconds and then toggle it back to on. Several days and it's worked doing just that. If the phone reboots or runs dead, just do the code again and switch the setting off then back on. Until it is permanently activated by AT&T this is what seems to be a work around.
