UK moto G 16gb. 3 mobile.
Network connection drops all the time. I mean, like every 30 seconds when using the phone. It seems to be because it is constantly flipping between 3g (2.5g slower, and HSDPA+ speed 3.5G).. I guess I'm in an area where HSDPA+ is barely possible. BUT, since the retarded 4.4.2 UI has been built for ****tards, in now only has the option of 2g or 3g. no more, manual vs Auto etc etc. This really annoys me.
Has anybody else had this problem? Can anyone let me know where the option to set data network selection manually vs auto is. and if there is any way I can improve the network selection.
My phone does exhibit the signal degredation when the back is covered, but I think this is universal amongst phones really.
You are not holding it right !!

It's not related to how I hold the phone, its in general. It is definitely to do with being in a low 3.5G area. When in a strong area it is fine.
The phone clearly flips between HSDPA+ and 2-3G. This is why its doing it. If I can force it to stay on 2 or 3G in the settings, rather than flipping when signal is weak it will solve my problem.
Im not rooted, but can easily. How will xposed help? I thought that was just to customise the UI like gravity box?
I think there is a rather simpler wrokaround
Dial *#*#4636#*#* ( I am not sure if its the engineer mode code for moto g)
And go to network
It has a option to force 2g / 3g....lemme google up the details for you

Have you attempted to put the correct APN settings for your device/carrier that way its pointing in the right direction? I know on certain ROM's the APN settings are not correct and you need to modify them.
Well, I've gone into the settings and there are "Rogers", "Rogers Tethering", and "Rogers WAP". And they each have a long menu for themselves, with a whole bunch of changable settings. Does anybody know about this?

Network Mode
Has anyone had any issues selecting the Preferred network mode?
There are 2 options, LTE/GSM/WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA (which is installed as the default/preferred network).
APN settings ltemobile.apn has been selected and settings are good, but when I select LTE/GSM/WCDMA as the preferred network it reverts back to GSM/WCDMA so it seems I cannot get on to Rogers 4G/LTE network.
The rom installed is the Unofficial Liquid RC2 [9-28-12] from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848118
Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks

Then go back to your mobile network settings and confirm the same preferred network has been set. If not, change it and it should stick this time.

I am not sure if this has been posted before, but I figured I would share what I have found!
Phone must be rooted before continuing. See HERE for how to do so.
How to enable Power Saver Mode on Verizon Wireless HTC One (M8)
* Download SqLite Editor from the Play store
* Open up the app
* Navigate to Settings Storage --> Settings.db --> secure
* Locate hide_ui_user_powersave and hide_ui_powersaver_connectivity
* These values right now should be “1”
* Long press on the field and change both to a value of “0”
* Back out of the app, reboot and enjoy!

Unfortunately, the US is bit abackwards compared to the rest of the world. The extreme power safer mode needs to be approved by US carriers before the most up to date version of the M8 software can be released in the US. Hopefully it will be approved soon, and be available via a software update. :fingers-crossed:

Can you find the hidden feature in stock messaging app that allows you to block people from texting you?
We have this feature in the stock phone app to block calls but was left out of the stock text messaging app. I went to the international M8 forum and they said they have it out of the box. I'm sureVerizon "Hide" this feature as well.

Does seem odd that Verizon basically told HTC, hey hide this feature even though it's already built into the old software we approved you having on this device for the USA launch. By the way also hide the block text messaging feature that's been built into your phones since Sense 4. WTF?!?

Works fine for me. Nice find!
:good::good: Thanks a lot.. works beautifully!!
Now I'll see if we actually get some more battery life. which IMO is pretty decent as it is..
Does Power Saver underclock the proc?
Man this tweak works amazingly. 11 1/2 hrs and I'm at 58% I've been using Bluetooth all day and listening to music and streaming showbox here and there to watch some tosh.O and this makes a huge difference in battery then without it for me. Thanks for the tweak!
Could a similar method work with high performance mode?

Could not find this option. Another "hidden" Verizon feature?
There used to be secret dial codes that would bring up many useful utility menus on Android phones. What are they for the Verizon Note 5 ?
If you download "phone info samsung" from the playstore it shows a list of secret codes in the menu. I never tried any out to see if they work. Also if you are in the vicinity of a Verizon store you can dial #8378 and it will pull up a menu with a battery of diagnostic tests.

Yes we discussed that you needed to have root and I don't and was wondering how to get them without root
It is annoying when people with other phone variants post on the Verizon boards, because miscommunication like this happens.
As the Verizon variant isn't rootable, posting solutions that require root isn't going to help anyone here.
Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Right? Super annoying. Anyway. OP, download "phone info" from the play store then open the menu and select secret codes. It will then crawl your phone for available codes. You don't have to have root in order to just view the list of codes, after it searches the list of codes will be displayed.
On a side note, there is a setting in the phone (hidden_menu) that basically either allows or denies access to service modes and settings from dialer codes and Verizon sets it to deny.
If we had root for the N920V we could use a file manager with root access and easily change the hidden_menu setting, after which all dialer codes and access to service modes would work again.
I have a NON-rooted AT&T V10 that recently got upgraded to marshmallow. I had a horrible experience (as I have before) with the OTA upgrade and ended up doing a factory reset, but now that that is done it is running very smoothly and the battery life has really been good. But that is not what I'm here for. Now that everything is running well I thought I'd try to see what options are available to me in this new version so I went online to see what "hidden" menus were available.
I found this one: *#546368#*900# (900 being the model of AT&T's V10) It brings up several tests you can run, but also a "SVC Menu". After going in the svc menu there is an option at the bottom called "VoWiFi" which I thought looks interesting. The value at stock for the item in the menu: "Wi-Fi Calling toggle" was "-1" (which doesn't make any sense to me). Since it's obvious that this should provide me "voice over Wifi" I decided to try it since the service in my 2 story house is pretty bad in the corner of the basement where my office is.
After setting the value to 1 I've made a few calls and found out that indeed this does seem to work! but only when I'm in my basement with limited service (1 bar). The Wifi icon adds a plus symbol to the icon and I've made several calls now and on the dialing screen on the "Red End" icon there is a wifi symbol right above it presumably meaning you are calling using VoWiFi?
I haven't seen the documented or talked about anywhere so i joined this forum asking you guys if you can both confirm for me that I have this correct, but also to share my find and hope it helps someone else. Also, should this work for SMS/MMS as I've seen mentioned for the VoWiFi standard??? In the texting I've done so far (also very bad service for texting) It may indicate that it does. Interested to know from you guy/gals what you think?
I'm very excited about this - Comments/Thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
Very cool! Definitely one of the reasons to upgrade to the 6.0 update, but I prefer root instead. Cool though!
Can't root due to company policy...otherwise I Very much agree and would in a heartbeat.

Yes I dial the code and toggle it off. Wait a few seconds and then toggle it back to on. Several days and it's worked doing just that. If the phone reboots or runs dead, just do the code again and switch the setting off then back on. Until it is permanently activated by AT&T this is what seems to be a work around.
