Moto G3 Stock Rom model Issue - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey There!
I am using moto g3 XT1541 (Tesco UK) unlocked version in India. I got it as a gift so it was unlocked. Now i am on cm12.1 but i wanna flash stock rom . I have downloaded stock XT1541 (Tesco ) rom already but i am afraid that after flashing stock rom will my device be locked or not? Do i have to unlock it after flashing . Or i should try any other rom ? Like XT1541 ( Retail GB )
Any Help is appreciated!

no still unlocked... when you unlock the bootloader for the first time .. your phone it's unlocked forever....

i am not talking about the bootloader lock. I mean the sim lock that service operators have on the phones such as tesco, vodafone etc

i don't think your sim lock could be a problem even if you still use that sim ... 'cause actually you are using a cm12.1 as you said...
imho a retail version is better cause has no bloatware and it could be newer than tesco's one....

so, you mean to say if i flash retail GB stock rom , my phone will not be locked and i will not have to use an unlock code ? My device model is XT1541

if you can use cm12.1 without any sim problem you can flash and use a retail stock rom also....

Thanks for your help ! Downloading retail rom now .

Reflashing firmware - what about simlock?

Hello, so I'm currently rocking stock tesco UK firmware, have sim-unlocked the phone legally, but I'd like to reinstall the system (because of couple of software bugs). If I flash it, will the phone re-lock sim too?
And what's the difference between tesco and UK retail firmware?

It won't get sim-locked if you flash it, the sim lock data is located on a special partition, that you can't really modify.
There are virtually no differences between those two.
Thank you! And does anyone can tell the difference between retail and tesco build?
Tesco built firmware is managed by tesco and are dedicated to services from Tesco whereas Retail build means a common built which are not modified by service providers.
So there are no actual differences in the firmware then, ok.
Correct if I'm wrong then, but basically, when you flash a GPE firmware over a retail or tesco moto g, this basically makes it the same as GPE phone? OTA updates and all?
Most importantly - do I have to unlock the bootloader in order to flash GPE rom on non-gpe Moto G?

Help Needed People....Urgent

I have a MotoG dual SIM Version which I bought from INDIA.
I flashed CM12.1 Nightly and everything was working fine.
I have migrated to US last month. The phone was working but recently I restored to Stock Lollipop ROM and flashed
ASIARETAIL_XT1033_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_CFC.xml
After flashing this, the sim card is not working and it shows no network.
Again flashed cm12.1 and same problem.
Phone is showing the name of network but still no signal.
Went into phone info using *#*#4346#*#*.
GSM Service shows: Radio Off
&
Cannot turn On the radio by tapping on turn on radio.
What Should I do... Please Help Me
Thanx In advance
Have you try to flash the full stock firmware? Or you can try to flash the full US Retail firmware and see if that help...

[XT1541] UK Vodafone to Retail GB stock, worth it?

I picked up an XT1541 from Vodafone, but I've unlocked it to use with another provider. I'm happy with stock Android for now, but I was considering flashing to the standard retail ROM (XT1541_OSPREY_RETGB_5.1.1_LPI23.72-47_cid7) as I don't need the Vodafone bloat. However as there doesn't actually appear to be much Vodafone stuff, I was wondering if it was really worth it at all.
I assume I would still get OTA updates, and I would get them faster on retail than staying with the Vodafone firmware?
You would be on the retail update channel , meaning faster updates

If you try let us know I've just done the same, like you say there is very little bloat on it, all I can see is the voda update software which I've disabled, no splash screen etc so that is good. Was considering flashing mine also

I did the same but was locked on o2, can you do me a favour and check something, when i originally flashed retgb firmware under system version in settings--> about phone it said something like; osprey_retgb.retgb.en.GB o2gb where on a standard retail gb 3rd gen the end would be retgb instead of o2gb, what does yours say?

Yes mine says 23.41.47.osprey_retgb.retgb.en.GB vfgb, the bit at the end gives away the original operator I guess?

I also have XT1541 Tesco mobile Unlocked version . I was also thinking about flashing Retail GB stock rom. So will this work ? Does your phone got carrier locked after flashing retail GB rom ? I am currently in India not UK. Did you flash this using adb methods or any toolbox ?

No the phone can still be unlocked in the normal way, in fact I did this before flashing the retail ROM. The phone is definitely unlocked, I'm using a GiffGaff (O2) SIM in it now.
I used this guide to flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/guide-fastboot-flashing-factory-t3187750

Flashing Stock Firmware

Hi,
I'm giving my old Moto G to my brother, so I need to remove root and install stock firmware, as the sim unlock code does not work on the custom firmware. I can easily install the stock 5.1 lollipop EU rom, but then when I try to install the stock firmware (I'm pretty sure it's O2, but I've tried both O2 firmware as well as the Retail GB) it gets stuck on the bootloader unlocked screen. It's still there after ~30 minutes, so I'm fairly certain that it's crashing.
Does anybody know what's going on, or potentially have any fixes? There are no errors when flashing the firmware, and I've triple checked that I've got the correct firmware version.
Thanks.
