My Experience with the LG G Flex 2 - LG G Flex 2

Hello. Just here to share my review of the LG G Flex 2. You all care read it Mod Edit.
So for those who are still on the fence on whether to buy a G Flex 2 (I know it's available on eBay for the cheap), hope that this helps.

Nice review, thanks Idiocity
There are some stupid low prices for the G Flex 2 in the UK today. (As low as £176.) The only thing that's stopping me pulling the trigger is the 2GB Ram. How many chrome tabs are you able to have open, (on large pages,) without the tabs having to refresh?
Totally agree on what you say regarding the camera in low light. My G2 makes a better job. :crying:

Never really tested it. However the RAM can be quite a constrain sometimes. But then again this phone is a steal for its specifications, so can't complain to be honest.

I only ask about the RAM issue as I also have the choice of getting the H950 for roughly the same money. The downside of that being that I only visit the US twice a year so getting the updates is tricky.
If only they had put 3GB Ram in the 32GB version this end. :crying:

Honestly the 3GB is a pity. If you are a heavy multi-tasker this phone is not really suitable to be honest. :silly:

Thanks for the info. :highfive:
H950 it will be.

i had the 950 with 15aPR rom on it and it was a lot faster and more responsive than the 955 i have now .
the only thing is that the 955 with 15c software does not heat up and the battery life is much better .
i did not even have to put in a copper shim this time .

Where is the love for this phone

The one phablet that can go toe to toe with the Note 3, high end specs, great camera, great building quality and there is one ROM for it and as yet not an easy root method. Bugger all threads.
Why is no one loving this phone?
Rooting can be done via towelroot. No custom recoveries or roms though..

Agreed, i owned a Note 3, sold it for this and have not looked back. I like it more rooted to, xposed and text droider dpi are great root apps for this phone

I'm wondering the same. My phone will be delivered shortly. But it seems that this will be my first Android phone without CyanogenMod. I can't believe this.I have already asked Ricardo with a pm but no reaction yet. May be somebody knows him better and could ask him to make a recovery and start a CM project for our sweet device? The hardware does not much differ from the G2 isn't it?
The problem is that LG decided to implement a stupidly secure boot loader, without an unlockable boot loader, not much development can happen. Being the flashing addict I am, I'm gonna sell mine and but an Xperia Z Ultra

I guess the G3 has the same issue? So someone will find a solution soon I hope. Please @shellnut2
Becuase it isn't sold in the US which is where a lot of people in this site are from. I really wanted this device but got the g3 instead.

I don't understand that business decision. Why would you not sell in one of the biggest cell phone markets?
Not releasing it in America is mostly the problem, without American developers getting their hands on it, no development can really happen. Not a smart move by LG is my opinion.
I have got my hands on one now.. and hopefully not very soon , but soon will be releasing something...
I sold my 16gb D838 a month ago as I just couldn't resist the temptation of the G3. Yesterday, I put my G3 on ebay and have ordered a 32gb D838  For anybody lusting after the G3, don't do it. The screen is beautiful (if you can find 4k content ) but, other than that, the G Pro 2 is a far better device IMO. The G3 is a lagfest with frequent launcher redraws due to bad ram management, (at least it was on my 2g ram version) it appears to have been rushed out with no software optimisation. The 801 chip cannot handle the resolution.
Anyway, can't wait for my new baby to arrive, I consider it to be the best device I have ever had and that is many.
OK Here we go

Welcome back!!! :good: I love this smartphone but the only thing I regret there are updates. LG has forgotten this phone, is stopped alla 10f for several months without correcting the bug. I hope LG has not forgotten this beautiful smartphone..the best!

That is so true. I couldn't resist to try the G3 too. But I really regret this choice. the D838 is so smooth and fast in everything. Even the camera is very fast and makes really nice pictures. The camera of the G3 is for my idea not any better and the phone itself is lagging everywhere. I have the 32GB version and the extra RAM doesn't make a difference. Like you said the CPU or the GPU isn't enough to make this device to what it had should been. I'm now on vacation but when I'm back home I will immediately sell the G3 and keep my Pro 2.

I found it really hard to admit it to myself after the investment. I so wanted to love the device The G3 forum is full of people in denial.
I really can't see why people don't like this phone...it's amazing...

I've had my LG G Pro 2 32GB for a couple of months now, it's the best phone I've had since my Sony Xperia Z Ultra 16GB. But now it's time to move on to another device so put it up for sale on Ebay at a bargain price. It's a shame LG messed up the D83810F update, looking forward to G Pro 3 if LG bother with it. I will say that I won't be rushing out to by the G3.
I hope a custom recovery will release for this phone soon, after that many Rom will appear!
cannot agree more , I am on the same camp got G3 , sold and took the G pro 2 hahha

Longevity and lag

My contract is about to end so I'm in the market for a new phone. I currently own a iPhone 5S which I have experienced little to no problems with and is as buttery smooth and lag free as it was the day I got it. However before my iPhone 5S I had the LTE Galaxy S3 which was an absolute nightmare. Don't get me wrong I loved android and prefer t a lot more over iOS but very quickly the GS3 started to lag and I had a lot of problems with it slowing down, crashing ect and I definitely would not like another experience like that. I'm considering the OPO because of Cyanogen mod which is pretty close to stock so I'm assuming there wont be any bloatware or anything that could possibly slow my phone down in the future? Is this true? I was also considering the LG G3 but the skin over the top is really putting me off and I'm afraid of running into the same problems I had with the GS3 a few months down the line.
TL;DR How lag free and reliable is the OPO in comparison to other phones in the market?

There is a massive difference between the 2 devices especially when the RAM comes into it with the S3 having 512 or 1GB (depending on which one you have) and the OPO having 3GB and of course the processor is a hell of alot better.
You'll have no issue with lag with the OPO i personally have had no lag issues if I did I couldn't use the phone either (espeically redraws I can't stand those, ARGH!!) not to mention no touchwiz which is a big bonus.

The Galaxy S3 here in the US actually had 2gb of ram with the dual core Snapdragon processor (Forget which one) and every other variant varied between 1gb for the Exynos version and 2gbs for the Snapdragon version.
But, the galaxy phones did not really get better until later. I blame the Touchwiz interface being incredibly taxing on ram and CPU. Like Roxas said though, there is 3gbs of ram in the OnePlus One and a phenomenal CPU in it too so this things flies! The Snapdragon 801 is a monster. CM11S is nice, and when you get in to tweaking it gets better! Just don't do anything you're not familiar with if you want a reliable experience, like any phone.

even with the latest ROM , you will have lag just using the phone and in games. As for longevity, the USB port wont probably last 2 years. Its a $350.00 phone running a beta ROM (IMO), so you have been warned right from the start with that price.

The S3 has 2GB of RAM on the North American version btw.
This one is great super fast and no lag, longevity I can imagine this phone will get software updates since the group behind it keep more devices up to date than OEMS do.
Also the USB port is the sturdiest one I have ever used
The problem with asking this on forums are some people run crappy apps that ruin the experience. Take me co worker that bought my nexus 4, it still runs pretty good, then all of sudden "yo this phone is not working". I take a look and he has this fake greenified app installed and three sideloaded pirated movie apps install. Uninstalled them and phone is working smoothly again. Until next month
But I have no issues with response time or battery life solid phone

He claimed some movie apps could do that, which is true. Many of these "Get free movies with this app " apps from the internet are filled with spyware and run in the background unnecessarily.
I wouldn't trust that to be on my phone.

Does the phone still overheat?

Hi, I really love the Lg G Flex 2 and I'm looking to see whether to but it or not. I'm reading many reviews saying that is overheats and this is sadly discouraging me even though I really wish to buy it. Has the overheating issue been resolved since its been months if not a year since release ?

Hi
I have had my Flex 2 for just over a month now and I can truthfully say that I have not noticed any overheating. The phone gets slightly warm when charging but that is normal. I am running fully stock H95515D LP 5.1.1

Thank you for replying so fast, I'll be buying my phone from Expansys and the reviews on that site don't mention overheating. In so worried because I had the same problem last year with the Nvidia Shield and 3 days after I had bought it the recall project was underway
if you want a good performing cheap phone, go for it
if you want a perfect screen, leave this one alone, heavy banding and mura on the screens, had 5 of them and even lg gave up, they said it was normal ...
if you don't mind that or are blind as a bat ...

Thanks for your input, I'll probably be buying it because yes as you said I do want a well performing budget phone since I suppose it fits my budget, I'll keep and eye out for the heavy banding and mura on my screen , let's hope it doesn't have!
Mine gets hot. After like 15 minutes of Asphalt 8, the phone begins throtteling.
But that's not a problem for me^^ Great phone anyways!

What LTE bands does your carrier use? as I said, its sim unlocked. If this model supports the same bands youd be good to go.
Hi fellow g flex 2 user. I just recently bought my g flex 2 dec last year and so far the phone has been great in everyday task/use. I did try to push the phone to its limits through gaming and noticed that nfs no limits (ironically), the game does lag a bit. I also noticed that the phone is warm to the touch after running this game for a while, not that it is going to scald you or anything though. I compared this with other phones running the same game on youtube and theirs are running smoothly. It might be due to throttling or the game lacking some updates. Other than that, the phone is solid overall. all games are running great, try godfire for example or real racing 3. also ppsspp games run great, playing metal gear solid peace walker. LTE download speeds are amazing and battery life is better compared to my old xperia z ultra. hope this helps btw I have the g flex 2 32gb lg-f510l (korea) with 2gb of ram i think. stock 5.1.1 not rooted.
Thank you all for your responses, I have gone ahead and bought the game. Gaming isn't really a factor for me when it comes to phones since I mostly like to play hearthstone, other than that I just use 4G to browse the web
I have an h950 with 3gb of ram, running h955 firmware with modem of h950pr... I have no problems of overheating in downclocking but my screen brigtness are limited to 90% when phone is hot.... Mostly when is charging and gaming at the same time....

So I received my phone and what can I say, I'm really happy with it. It does tend to overheat and the screen is a little grainy but those are tiny setbacks in my eyes. Thanks for all the positive feedback you guys have given me!

what is the differens between 6gb and 4bb version

what is the differens between 6gb and 4bb version i performance . any banchmark?
There is no difference between this two in performance, maybe if you are a hard multitasker.
2 GB's!
just extra ram for better multitasking i hope and it comes with 128gb to instead of 64gb as default
2GB ram which should help it perform better.
I recently had oneplus 3t which i noticed was extremely fast and smooth, pleasantly surprised. So i would say you will notice the difference only if you put both 4gb and 6gb side by side and perform tests. In real life use you won't notice much difference tbh.
Probably only notice it without huawei battery optimization stuff enabled. My 4gb model always have 2ish gbs of ram left but I close 90% of stuff most of the time.
If any has side to side. Comparetion link as youtube it will be nice.

The speed of the OnePlus 3 is not because it has more RAM than other devices... They have done some tweaks on the software ( aggressive kernel, animations, better file system than the average) and optimizations.

Going to upgrade; Need some advice

The OPO is getting old now, I've had my 3years worth and loved it despite the issues I've faced!
However it's time to upgrade (new job, more money )
I'm in the mix between ;
Pixel 1 XL - £400 (Really like this phone, although the age is putting me off SLIGHTLY due to not going to get many official updates)
Pixel 2 - £630 (Quite a bit expensive, will leave me quite skint but possibly worth it; I want this device the most)
LG G6 - £400ish? £500 with a floating LG speaker (I REALLY like this device, especially for the money but the skin and delay in updates will probably make me ill lol)
Oneplus 5 8GB ram - £450 (student discount) (obviously this looks like the no brainer but i KNOW the jelly effect will really get to me, in nearly every review of it on youtube i notice it when they scroll; no one can change my mind about this but I've added it to see if theres yet a fix for it? or is there going to be one? I havent seen anything about it?)
;
And these are the phones, can anybody steer me into the right way? I honestly cannot decide, and my mind hasnt been made so I'm not biased against any however I'm least keen about the OP5.

I wouldn't choose them sort of phones anyway mate due to the inconvenience such as; they'd be imported, wouldnt have good support if anything was to happen and the sites selling the xiaomis at least havent had the best reviews.
The phones i suggested i can buy in town without hesitation, even the Oneplus 5 due to being in the UK and o2 selling oneplus products
I just want something that works, is great all round and smooth. (and something i'm able to flaunt to ALL of my iPhone friends that claim Android is for 'tramps and emo geeks' hahah )

Well I was going to get the honor when it was just out as my dad asked if i wanted to get it off him and swap him for my opo with some money on top but the software is a big killer, possibly THEA worst android skin on a mainstream phone. The look, the feel and everything is clunky and pretty fairly disgusting.
I dont think theres any other phone on the market I'd have other than i've stated, I really like the Moto Z but I can't find it for sale in the UK (reasonably priced anyway), Also like Sony xperia phones but again, they're too expensive for what they are. The new HTC u11 is £600 so again, too expensive all considering.

That's why custom ROMs are there, aren't they?
PS: you should wait for Honor 7X- https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/wait-honor-7x-t3683703
