Marshmallow 6.0: howto enable Multi-window option - X Play General

As you may already know, Marshmallow now include support for Multi-Window interface but, it's disabled by default. You need a little bit of tinkering to get it to work.
-First, you will need to have a rooted device, so make sure you flashed SuperSU 2.61 or 2.62 (older version won't work on Marshmallow).
-Then, you will need to edit a single line inside build.prop (located in /system folder), I did this with Root Browser because many other file browsing apps have trouble getting root access with Marshmallow. Root Browser is working perfectly as long as you have the right version of SuperSU.
-Once you open build.prop with Root Browser, you need to look for the line "ro.build.type=user", then you will need to change this line to "ro.build.type=userdebug", once it's done, reboot your phone.
-Now, you need to enable Developer settings by going in Parameters/About phone and tap on "Build number" seven time.
-You will now see the Developer settings in Parameters, open it and scroll down till you see the option about Multi-window support, tap on it to enable it. You will get a warning telling you that it's an experimental feature but who care?
-That's it, now you will have a new icon appearing on top of each apps in recent apps screen, just tap on it to get an app to appear in Multi-Window mode.

I want to see how it looks like.. May be a screenshot could do that?

Sorry you'll have to Google it, simply do a search with keywords "Marshmallow multi window", I tried so many times to make screenshots on my Moto X Play and it never worked. Pushing vol-down + power button never worked for me.

worked great

My phone won't boot with this setting

Thanks for this tip☺ I enabled it without any problem.

Am using Moto x play

Changing ro.build.type to userdebug might interfere with other functions of the device. A better way to enable multi-window on Marshmallow would be to simply add persist.sys.debug.multi_window=true to build.prop.

[4.3+] [Root] App Ops for Root (Version 1.1)

As you may know, Google has remove App Ops on Android 4.4.2. This app helps you to bring it back
Root device only for now
What is App Ops
App Ops is an activity, within the Settings app, that allows users to enable or disable operations on a per-app basis. These operations cover many common scenarios identified by permissions (e.g., read contacts, write contacts, access location), though it is not a pure one-to-one mapping.
Operations blocked by App Ops are inaccessible by the affected app, though that may vary by device.
Toggle-able permissions

It's weird that this thread has no activity.. it's a proper mod tbh.
After clicking to "Install AppOps Root", the device reboots, but nothing seems to change. Starting the Installer again still shows the same message: "Click to install AppOps Root..."
If I click "Launch Stock App Ops", I see Settings that promptly closes.
I am rooted and running a 4.4.2 ROM.
What am I missing?
App is working great. But can you please change the Icon in the drawer? It is really hard to see with this dark grey color

Not for me.
I have run through installation twice and didn't see any errors.
I just got prompted to d/l new firmware for my note 3 today. and after hearing they took this out. I declined it! keeping an eye on this, hopefully there will be a way to bring this back for non rooted devices. as my phone is only 2 months old. and I wana wait 4-6 months to make sure its not faulty B4 I go rooting it. plus there arent enough stable ROMS for note 3 anyway. I like Wanam as its stock ish without bloat. so waiting for wanam!
Reboot after install
Im using CM11.0 and the phone reboots after I click "Install AppOps Root" but seems to work fine with the "Lauch Stock AppOps" option.
Good job. Thank you.
Works great for me running Stock 4.4.2 on Nexus 5.

It only installs one apk in /system/priv-app/
If you are rooted and have titanium backup or other toolbox you can easily uninstall it (titanium can uninstall system apps); second easiest option is to use ES File Explorer or other root file manager; other ways include adb shell commands (mount / rm), and finally another method that actually doesn't require root is via custom recovery that has a builtin file manager like twrp does... you would mount /system and delete the apk from /system/priv-app

How does this compare to the likes of XPrivacy. It appears this completely denies the permission which would cause certain apps to crash vs providing random false data.

XPrivacy is way more powerful and allows you to revoke many more permissions, but App Ops although limited, works quite well. You cannot remove network access with it, but I removed location, contacts, vibrate, camera, from some apps, and none crashed so far. I've been using App Ops since it was introduced in Jelly Bean, and still do in KitKat.

[How-To] Enable Native Tethering on G900V_OC4 - 5.0 (4/10/2015)

***The following modification will only work on Stock, Rooted OC4(Android 5.0) builds. Use on a non-stock custom ROM may cause issues***
**Required** Root access and FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet here: https://plus.google.com/communities/116661625291346007584
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash?authuser=0
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
Instructions:
1. Place the G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FireFlash app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" then locate and select the G900V_OC4_TetherAddOn.
5. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
6. From the main menu press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash (leave defaults settings under "EverRoot" and "Reboot" options).
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system, flash the .zip, then reboot. Done!
Quick question.... downloaded the new OC4 Tether Addon from your link above and the filename says remove??? I'm pretty sure you had posted earlier in one of your other threads a method to remove the tether addon so you could take the OTA, but I'm trying to flash the stock root OC4 and want to enable the tether. Just wanted to make sure I got the right file. Thanks.

Sorry, I uploaded the wrong file. I will upload the correct one in a few.
EDIT: link corrected.
Awesome! Got it. Thanks so much for your help!
Thank you! Been looking for a native tethering fix. Worked perfect!
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
So, I've followed the other post to obtain root with 5.0 and have enabled tethering following this method on both mine and my wife's S5. The tethering works good, but I've noticed that the only thing we can't access is Netflix over tether to either PC or DVD Player. I have searched for a solution and haven't been able to come up with anything.
Have any suggestions?
We are on a grandfathered unlimited plan, and all phones previous to our S5 we were able to root and use Wifi Tether for Root Users without any problems. This is the first time we have used the Native Tethering app (only because I couldn't get Wifi Tether for Root Users to work on the S5).
Ok, flashed this, but how do we use it? I know this sounds dumb, but do we just turn Hotspot on, or....?
This didn't work for me. Flashfire worked fine but when I go to enable hotspot, I am told to contact Verizon. Tried reflashing but still no luck. Any ideas?
EDIT/UPDATE: I must have had the wrong file even though it was the same exact file name. Make sure the file size is 8.85 MB. I had to download from another site since OP link doesn't work.
Link fixed.
Very very useful mod. Coming from FoxFi on S3 , appreciate just being able to pull down the drawer and enable "Mobile Hotspot" in one quick click.

Xposed Framework now working on Idol 3

With the recent release of framework 71 released here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 xposed framework can now be installed on the idol 3 without causing boot loops. Xposed for Lollipop is still in alpha so you may find that some modules still don't work but the handful I tried including gravitybox for lollipop worked fine. Xposed also has a module to fix a memory leak in 5.0.x roms which I highly recommend running. Make sure you install the arm64 framework along with the apk....if you run into issues you can flash the uninstaller via recovery and it will remove the framework.
There are many modules available now to customize the stock rom.
Thanks for your information.
I am so excited to try it.
I would like to confirm, do I just need to root my phone and then install xposed? If I failed, is it only way to flash uninstaller via TWRP recovery?

Well Xposed requires root so yes you will have to be rooted...if the xposed framework fails to boot you can run the xposed uninstaller. You will need to inquire in the xposed for lollipop thread I linked to for more details and directions.
All I did however was flash the xposed amd64 framework 71 zip file (from TWRP and then rebooted into the ROM) and then installed the xposed-installer 3.0 alpha apk....then I went into the framework section in the apk and it showed the framework was installed and working...I've since loaded a handful of modules: (App Settings, BootManager, Fix Lollipop Memory Leak, GoogleOfflineVoice, Gravitybox [LP], Network Speed Indicator, Notifyclean, Rootcloak (can be used to hide root from the system update checker so you can check for updates as normal however don't DOWNLOAD them till you've fully unrooted), Secure Settings Xposed Module, Statusbar download progress, StopSwitchDelay, XInstaller, XInternalSD and XVoice+) all of which seem to be operating normally.
YouTube adaway works for me
If anyone finds a way to add reboot to bootloader and recovery to the power down menu I'd like to hear about it. All the modules I've tried (APM, gravitybox etc) have failed.

Annoying. I also remember there being a module to make the kindle app act more like an ebook reader but it must not be compatible with Lollipop since I don't see it in the module list.

Yeah, I tried some of the Xposed modules that are supposed to do that... None of them work, I expect because Alcatel has 'skinned' the reboot dialog. It certainly doesn't look like the stock Android one.
does the XPrivacy module work?

i use a app called "Power Toggles" toggles can be added to taskbar, widget and lock screen. most toggles do not need root but some do. there is a toggle i use that gives shut down options when clicked. the options are as follows, ( power off , restart , recovery mode , bootloader. ) this app works sweet as i have the toggles to pull down from taskbar on any page, you can also create your own shortcuts as a toggle. i have been using this app on several devices for 3 years. does not need xposed. Note this does not add these options to your power button.
finally! so happy to have xposed running on this. gravity box is a must. mix it with xposed gel settings (to hide app dock) and use custom key from gravity. i can finally hide my annoying bluetooth icon, apps, and clock "am/pm" too.
one funny thing to note. the default launcher allows double-tap on homescreen to sleep the device but it doesnt work on the lockscreen. gravity box has the option to allow doubletap on lockscreen to sleep. but since i switched to GNL it seems double tap to sleep on homescreen doesnt work no more.

Thanks for the reply. I use an app called Hangar that puts the 7 most "popular" icons you use at the bottom of the notification list or you can optionally pin a specific icon....so I have pinned the rebootmanager icon there...I also considered using an xposed module to define holding down power button to call rebootmanager directly but don't think it's a good idea to override a main button like that...anyway Hangar counts the time you spend in each app to determine which icons to show..has ended up working quite well. Hangar has an xda thread in android apps & games and you can add a 2nd row of icons should you wish to.

If you are going to root why not go ahead and flash TWRP so you can enjoy all of it's benefits? Root access with filemanager, adb access etc?
The default recovery does not have reboot to bootloader for 2 models of the 6045.

I have a 6045Y bought in France. Don't know about the reboot to booloader from recovery.
I only needed root for xposed, link2sd, root explorer and titanium backup.
Didn't really need to have TWRP flashed.
I had in mind, that could be easier to unroot and get OTA update if i don't flash TWRP. That's maybe wrong thought.. (?).

[Guide][Pokemon go][gps spoof] Universal cheat method to gps spoof play pokemon go wi

Tried and tested on march/may security update and works
PLEASE HIT THE LIKE BUTTONS IF IT WORKS (WHICH IT DOES).
1. This first step was originally found by @deathdefiler and thought it might help people so I've presented a neat manual to get started spoofing.
You need to root your phone
dont matter if you use a autoroot oneclickroot or what ever you prefer
Because we will be deleting (or NOT as mentioned in step 2) root later.
Just make sure SuperSu(optional for cm/lineage users) and busybox is installed
after your phone is rooted and
busybox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
are installed
go to playstore and download this exactly
(GPS Joystick Fake GPS Location)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theappninjas.gpsjoystick
by dev. The app ninjas
as while youre in playstore also download (/system/app mover Root) by dev. j4velin
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
now openup /system/app mover and search for fake gps joystick
tap it and choose yes or ok to move it to /system/app
At this point you should reboot your phone( MUST DO )!
Once your phone is rebooted you can unroot your phone
Even if you unroot Gps joystick will remain in /system/app
Now go into your phone location settings
Set location modus to Device only
I also set google location service off otherwise it will go back to high accuracy mode.
Now we can open Fake gps joystick and go to settings from menu in the top left corner
Make sure that these following options are on
". Enable System Mode
Disable Location Service
Enable A-GPS reset. "
Now Restart your device for changes to take effect
thats it now we can start fake gps choose location of your liking
open pokenmon go and start playing (make sure loction is on device only mode)
If you want your location to work back normal
for example playing pokemon go normal or use googlemaps
then open fake gps settings and make sure Disable location service is set to off
Reboot your device and your good to go
Note by @reis1996 : In settings menu change "Background Handler" to another value from default to remove the time lag between spoofs. It varies for different devices
DONATE IF I WAS HELPFUL
HERE
Optional step for users who want to keep root/run custom ROMs
NOTE: YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CM/LINEAGE BASED ROM FOR THIS STEP TO WORK
NO MAGISK!!! OR SUPERSU!!!
2. The next step is to temporarily disabled root but still have root access
*****NOUGAT USERS DON'T FLASH ANYTHING*****
Pokemon checks for root status and SELinux status
iSU is an app made @bhb27
Head over to the iSU thread and flash (for 6.0.1 and below as nougat just needs the app installed)
a)iSU kernal file. permissive if your selinux is already permissive / enforcing if your selinux is enforcing
You can check your seLinux status of your phone in settings>about phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...le-app-to-deactivate-activate-t3478348/page56
b)use the iSU app
To change your build.prop file of your phone
This makes the phone think its not rooted
In the prop editor in the app, set all values to green/safe.
Next set root deactivated and seLinux to enforcing.
The app has an inbuilt safety net checker to see if you pass safety net.
Note that you should toggle root and selinux status to pass safety net via the iSU app only.
as soon as i move gps fake location app to system it disappears, and i have no means to open it up. i did cf autoroot.
also i have galaxy s6, where do i find settings below.
Now go into your phone location settings

I also set google location service off

Did you restart the phone after making the GPS a system app. RESTART IS A MUST AFTER MAKING ANY APP SYSTEM APP
OK a little more information would be nice. What ROM are you running? Android version? Stock?
My advice for now would be to use a system APP uninstaller and remove the app. Then use another app ( various apps are present in play store) to make the GPS app a system app. Then unroot

Because we will be deleting (or NOT as mentioned in step 2) root later.
Just make sure SuperSu(optional for cm/lineage users) and busybox is installed
after your phone is rooted and
busybox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
are installed
go to playstore and download this exactly
(GPS Joystick Fake GPS Location)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theappninjas.gpsjoystick
by dev. The app ninjas
as while youre in playstore also download (/system/app mover Root) by dev. j4velin
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover
now openup /system/app mover and search for fake gps joystick
tap it and choose yes or ok to move it to /system/app
At this point you should reboot your phone( MUST DO )!
Once your phone is rebooted you can unroot your phone
Even if you unroot Gps joystick will remain in /system/app
Now go into your phone location settings
Set location modus to Device only
I also set google location service off otherwise it will go back to high accuracy mode.
Now we can open Fake gps joystick and go to settings from menu in the top left corner
Make sure that these following options are on
". Enable System Mode
Disable Location Service
Enable A-GPS reset. "
Now Restart your device for changes to take effect
thats it now we can start fake gps choose location of your liking
open pokenmon go and start playing (make sure loction is on device only mode)
If you want your location to work back normal
for example playing pokemon go normal or use googlemaps
then open fake gps settings and make sure Disable location service is set to off
Reboot your device and your good to go
Note by @reis1996 : In settings menu change "Background Handler" to another value from default to remove the time lag between spoofs. It varies for different devices

Please read my instructions carefully without asking doubts. You have to use an app called iSU. Link in the second post

I install as system app, reboot, but when i unroot, the app doesn't appear on screen but i checked to see if it's still in system/app and it is. If I root back, the app does appear on screen as system app.

Does iSU work on your ROM? You won't need to remove root if you are using a Nougat ROM

Have you installed busybox?
If you are using a custom ROM like lineage your build.prop values have to be changed.

You need to download an app to edit your build.prop file and you will need root for this.
3ctoolbox can edit the build.prop but you can use anything else.
Trying using the iSU app to just change the values only. Its a one click method by clicking the safe (green) button under props menu

So you are saying that iSu can hide root from SN?

You need to make a clean flash again. Wipe data. Dalvik cache (not internal) flash ROM again.
DO NOT INSTALL BUSYBOX

Yes. If you are on nougat just install the app and don't flash anything. You will then have to toggle root and selinux status through that app only

[ROOT] Enable Fluid Navigation Gestures in any rom in less than 2 minutes

Edit: The module I shared here is old. Download updated FullScreen Immersive mode gesture module from the magisk app directly.
I remember a few years ago people loved Fluid Navigation Gestures when it came out. The liquid animations on the sides and bottom of the provided people a smooth experience. Good times ended when Google messed with the overscan setting in Android 11 which prevented Fluid Navigation Gestures to display over stock Android back and recent gesture.
Good News: You can use it again with a simple trick
Bad News: You'll need root with magisk and a magisk module
• Go to magisk manager and download Fullscreen/Immersive gestures magisk module by DanGLES3 [Thank you Dev] (Added it on this post but you can download it from modules section on magisk manager).
• Start flashing the module on magisk.
It'll start asking a few questions and you will have to answer them using the volume up/down button. The first four questions aren't necessary for this tutorial but you will have to go through them.
• 1st question (Fullscreen or Immersive) - choose whatever you like
2nd Q (Hide pill and keep the keyboard height) - choose whatever you like
3rd Q(About reducing keyboard bar) - choose whatever u like
4th Q(Sensitivity) - doesn't matter
5th and important one is about Disabling back gestures. Select Volume up for YES
• Now magisk will ask you to reboot so reboot
• Download Fluid Navigation Gesture app from Play Store or the bottom of this post
Play Link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid
• Install and open it. Click Enable and you will have to give it accessibility and draw over other apps permission access. Now go to options (bottom right), give is write secure settings permission using either root or adb.
• Done. Now customize as you like inside the app.

Is there a way with root in Android 11 that I can reduce the size of the screen? You used to be able to do it with the overscan command but they took that out of 11.
Is this still possible to do? I have a stock Pixel 5 that I'm considering putting a custom ROM on. Being able to hide the nav bar and use FluidNG would be a huge selling point.
