Noticed that for about 3 weeks, Google play services uses more battery then ever. Can't really understand why but I assume that it is somehow connected to the updated play market. The market updated also an about 3 weeks ago.
I'm using xtrasmooth rom with racer kernel.
Before the update, everything was fine with location services enabled.

Have you tried another ROM?
Not yet. I don't think that it's rom related because everything was fine until play market was updated.

I have 3.10.9 Play Store.. Flashed the multi DPI JB version. Works fine for a day or so then it'll revert back to an older version ( 3.9.something I think) and more than half of my apps won't show up under My Apps. It is fixed by reflashing the multi DPI Play Store zip, but I don't understand why it is even happening. Is there a permanent fix or anything I can try?

Which zip did you flash?
I had that happen to me once yesterday, but it switched on me from inverted back to normal (fixed after a reflash and hasn't happened again).
It is called Multi DPI Play Store for JB.zip. I think I found it in the int'l GSII forum but according to OP it was tested on many different devices and comments by other users reflected that.

This one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839871
That's the one I use and other than the 1 problem I had yesterday (that only cropped up after a TiBu restore) I really haven't had any issues.
That's definitely the one.. I'm so confused then.. Maybe it's an issue with the rom, although I doubt it (SlimBean).. What rom are you on?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA Premium App
Slim Bean...
Definitely not an issue with Slim Bean, unless you are flashing an addon app after you're flashing the multi dpi play store.
Though, the play store that comes with Slim should be multi dpi...

Did it to me again, twice today, and I had to reflash the Play Store zip a total of 4 times.. Something's up, and I think I'm just going to reflash the rom and start over and see if it fixes it

Let me know if you find a fix. I've got my own issues that I'm trying to work through, but I'm interested in hearing what you find.

Reflashed the rom and gapps, rebooted, let the rom settle, then set up my Google account. Opened Play Store, made sure I wasn't having any issues, then closed it and cleared data for Play Store and Google Services Framework. Booted into recovery and flashed multi DPI Play Store.. Worked fine until I rebooted the phone an hour later and now I have 3.9.x instead of 3.10.x. I don't understand why this is happening but it's driving me crazy.

May play store doesn't recognize the. 10 version as legit so it goes ahead and updates it. Have you deactivated auto updates in the playstore settings!

Please tell me where on earth I would find that, since clearly I'm losing my mind..

Just open the play app. Hit the phones menu button. Then under settings uncheck auto update!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
That has nothing to do with auto-updates for the actual Play Store app, it just disables auto-updates to downloaded apps/games

For anyone who might be wondering.. I noticed that I still had the Play Store 3.9.x apk in /system/app along with PhoneSky.apk which is (correct me if I'm wrong) the modified Play Store apk. I deleted the 3.9.x apk and rebooted, and since then I've rebooted 6 times or so and I can still see all my apps in the Play Store and the version is still 3.10.x.

Hey guys, has anybody tried had sync? I always used it on my nexus devices, however, the last update for it is on October 6th, way before KitKat release date. I've read through some of the reviews and some have mentioned of it preventing phone from going to deep sleep and causing wake locks. That was on a galaxy phones though, no mention of issues on nexus 5. I have just got the nexus, don't really want to install something that's not fully compatible yet.

Working fine for me.. Just got my phone a couple hours ago, so can't really say much on the wake lock part. But, the contacts sync up and its fine so far..

Why not try it for your self? If it causes problems just uninstall it. Plan and simple. Not like it can brick your phone because an app isn't 100% compatible.
Working fine for me too.

I have sync.me on one of my old androids letting it update my contacts...good idea if you have a old phone laying around...not sure but you could use haxsync like that too.

I did when I got my nexus. My battery died faster than expected. I looked through logs, and noticed that yahoo weather was draining a lot of battery on the background, ended up uninstalling that and haxsync because I figured that it could have been both as android usage was also high. Today, everything was fine. I will try to reinstall it.
I do seem to get some contact pics synced, I'm guessing by default Facebook app still doesn't sync contacts on stock, right? Pictures might be coming from Google +?

Been using haxsync for a week now on my N5 & no battery drain/wakelocks according to bbs from haxsync so its ok to use.

I have not as the Dev put in the description that it's only needed for 4.1. Calendar and contacts are syncing just fine without it.

Uhm I installed it, but the pictures seems to be all in low resolution.. It's because this Nexus is bigger then the previous?

On 4.4.2 haxsync doesnt work anymore at least for me
are there any alternatives?
I don't find HaxSync on Play Store, on both Play Store app (on Nexus 5) and Play Store web
There's a playstore fix in xposed installer. This may fix your problem

he removed it from play store because it is atm not whitelisted through facebook more infos on Facebook page
I was unable to find HaxSync on play store, so I searched through Google and clicked the link, works flawlessly.

MersauX,
Can you please tell me where you found it? What link? When I search for the Haxsync APK, I find a lot of sites, but I am always a bit leery at downloading them from these types of places since I worry about the files authenticity. Thanks in advance.

Thanks but it's not currently available on the play store. That's the reason I asked in the first place.
I've never had any wakelocks using haxsync, and it has never shown up in my battery stats ever.

Odd, that link works for me. Must be because I've had it installed for years...
Every device I use recently throws me so many connection errors when using play store, YouTube etc. It's not the phone, everything else works fine. Anyone else have this trouble? I want to speak to Google about it

For me it's hit and miss and has been for a few months, must be upgrading their servers or something because when it does work it's fast

My Google Voice has been acting up and its really annoying lol.
I noticed that since the last two updates of Google Now, it doesn't update it's theme anymore which corresponds to daytimes. Only if I pull down the cards and do a manual refresh, it updates again. Is this a bug?

Google play services up to date?

A lot of people are having issues with Google Now, from display bugs to location errors. Just note this is probably just a blow back from that.
Mine only had this issue you're having once, then it seemed to be just fine.
Has anyone else noticed a very very high amount of NLP related wakelocks in the Android System and the Play-Services since the last Paly Service Update (31.07.2014)?
It's not a new issue I think is related to Android kit Kat because in the past version and also this new one the wakelocks are the shame. You should give a try to wakelock terminator. I use this app without any issue at all

before the 31.7 I had no Problems with that.
If I use a wakelock terminator it would be wiser to turn off location services
If you don't want wakelocks turn off location, google now and other google services. I keep all the services on and even after the wakelock terminator everything is fine. You can check different post and you will see that this problem is not new

I had the problem in the past on another phone to, but with a play services update the problem disappeared since last week
